Interfacial Durability and Electrical Properties of CNT or ITO/PVDF Nanocomposites for Self-Sensor and Micro Actuator (자체-센서와 미세 작동기를 위한 CNT/PVDF 및 ITO/PVDF 나노복합재료의 전기적 및 계면 내구성 비교 평가)

  • Interfacial durability and electrical properties of CNT or ITO coated PVDF nanocomposites were investigated for self-sensor and micro actuator applications. Electrical resistivity of nanocomposites for the durability on interfacial adhesion was measured using four points method via fatigue test under cyclic loading. CNT/PVDF nanocomposite exhibited lower electrical resistivity and good self-sensing performance due to inherent electrical property. Durability on the interfacial adhesion was good for both CNT and ITO/PVDF nanocomposites. With static contact angle measurement, surface energy, work of adhesion, and spreading coefficient between either CNT or ITO and PVDF were obtained to verify the correlation with interfacial adhesion durability. The optimum actuation performance of CNT or ITO coated PVDF specimen was measured by the displacement change using laser displacement sensor with changing frequency and voltage. The displacement of actuated nanocomposites decreased with increasing frequency, whereas the displacement increased with voltage increment. Due to nanostructure and inherent electrical properties, CNT/PVDF nanocomposite exhibited better performance as self-sensor and micro actuator than ITO/PVDF case.

Studies on Durability and Polarization Properties of Poly(vinyl alcohol) Polarizing Films Prepared with Reactive Dichroic Dyes (반응성 이색성 염료를 사용하여 제조한 폴리(비닐 알코올) 편광필름의 내구성 및 편광특성에 관한 연구)

  • Three reactive dichroic dyes with 3,5-dichloro-2,4,6-triazine moiety were synthesized by reaction between dichroic dyes (such as congo red, direct black 22 or direct black 4) and cyanuric chloride. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) films were dyed with the obtained three reactive dichroic dyes. After 400% drawing of the PVA films, their optical properties were compared with an iodine-doped PVA film prepared in the same condition. Durability test was performed at $50^{\circ}C$ in 85% of relative humidity for 120 hrs. We found that compared with the iodine-doped PVA polarizing film, the relative durability of the PVA polarizing film dyed with the reactive dichroic dyes was greatly improved.

Effects of Strain-Induced Crystallization on Mechanical Properties of Elastomeric Composites Containing Carbon Nanotubes and Carbon Black (탄소나노튜브 및 카본블랙 강화 고무복합재료의 변형에 의한 결정화가 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of strain-induced crystallization (SIC) on the mechanical properties of elastomeric composites as functions of extension ratio (${\lambda}$), multiwalled carbon nanotube (CNT) content, and carbon black (CB) content are investigated. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis shows that the degree of crystallinity increases with the increase in the CB and CNT content. As ${\lambda}$ increases, the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the composites increases, and the latent heat of crystallization (LHc) of the composites is maximum at ${\lambda}$=1.5. It is found that the mechanical properties have a linear relation with LHc, depending on the CNT content. According to the TGA (thermogravimetric analysis), the weight loss of the composite matrix is 94.3% and the weight of the composites decreases with the filler content. The ratio of tensile modulus ($E_{comp}/E_{matrix}$) is higher than that of tensile strength (${\sigma}_{comp}/{\sigma}_{matrix}$) because of the CNT orientation inside the elastomeric composites.

Experimental Studies on the Aging Characteristics by Service Periods of Regulator Diaphragms at Governor Room of City Gas (도시가스 정압기용 압력조정기 다이어프램의 사용기간에 따른 경년특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Experimental studies have been done to examine the aging characteristics by regulator diaphragms of gas pressure, governor room of city gas. Various testing samples with different service periods were manufactured. The results of SEM observation indicated that the surface and thickness of the samples tested were slightly sensitive to the service periods. It was found that as the service periods increased, the tensile strength of diaphragm samples decreased. For samples over 25 years of service, the strength decreased to approximately 60 % of that of new diaphragms. It was also found that as the service periods increased, the elongation increased.

  • In this study, polyether polyol polypropylene glycol and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) were synthesized based on polyrupopylene mono methyl eher (PM) for the synthesis of water - soluble polyurethane for coating on leather skin layer. After synthesis of prepolymer, PM was added at $40^{\circ}C$ to 1M, 2M, 3M, and 4M to inhibit the viscosity rise, and neutralization reaction and chain extension reaction were carried out to prepare polyurethane samples. According to the measurement results of the tensile strength, elongation and adhesive strength of the prepared sample, the tensile strength was 2.109 kgf / mm2 for PM 1M, 1.721kgf / mm2 for 4M, elongation was 496% for PM 1M, 522% for 4M, adhesion was 1.114 kgf / cm for PM 1M and 0.99 kgf / cm for 4M.

  • Selective Laser Melting is one of the representative 3D printing techniques for handling metal materials. The main factors influencing the characteristics of structures fabricated by the SLM method include the build-up angle of structures, laser power, laser scan speed, and scan spacing. In this study, the tensile properties of AlSi10Mg alloys were investigated by considering the build-up angle of tensile test specimens, laser scanning speed and scan spacing as variables. The yield stress, tensile strength, and elongation were considered as tensile properties. From the test results, it was confirmed that the yield stress values were lowered in the order of 0, 45, and 90 based on the manufacturing direction of the tensile specimen. The maximum yield stress value was obtained at 1870 mm / min based on the laser scan speed. The yield stress size decreased with decreasing scan speed. Based on the laser scan spacing, as the value increases, the yield stress increases, but the variation is smaller than the other test criteria. The tendency of the tensile strength and elongation variation depending on the test conditions was difficult to understand.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent electrode film has been widely adopted for the various applications such as display and electric vehicle. In this paper, we studied how to enhance the thermoforming stability of ITO film by applying the highly conductive Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) thin layer. Based on the change of sheet resistance value, the influence of the additional solvent with different boiling point was investigated for the PEDOT:PSS coating solution. In addition, by analyzing optical transmittance and Raman spectrum, we confirmed the key mechanism which determine the final electrical conductivity of the PEDOT:PSS on ITO film using an ethylene glycol solvent. The final ITO transparent electrode coated with PEDOT:PSS performed the outstanding endurance of electrical conduction even in 126% stretching condition.

  • 본 연구에서는 연신정도가 다른 완전배향사(FDY)와 부분배향사(POY)를 열처리시켜 내부구조변화를 유도한 후 염색성을 연구하였고, 염색성과의 관련성을 위해 결정화도 및 복굴절룰을 조사하였다. 열처리는 silicone oil속에서 정장상태로 실시하였으며, 시료의 염색은 Disperse Yellow 42를 이용해 무한염욕상태에서 실시하였다. 그리고, DMF를 이용해 염료를 추출시킨후 spectrophotometer 로 염료흡착량을 측정하였다. 결정화도는 밀도-결정화도 관계식으로 구하였으며, 복굴전률은 편광현미경으로 시료의 두께와 retardation을 측정한 후 계산하였다. FDY와 POY 필라멘트사의 염색성은 열처리시 감소하였으며 POY의 염색성이 FDY보다 우수했다. 결정화도는 열처리시 증가하였으며 열처리되지 않은 POY가 열처리되지 않은 FDY에 비해 낮은 값을 나타냈다. 복굴절률은 열처리시 증가하였으며 열처리되지 않은 POY가 열처리되지 않은 FDY에 비해 낮은 값을 나타냈다. 열처리후에도 POY가 FDY보다 낮은 복굴절률을 나타낸 반면 결정화도는 열처리된 POY가 열처리된 FDY와 비슷한 값을 나타냈다. 염색성은 결정화도와 배향도에 부적인 상관관계 즉 결정화도와 배향도가 증가함에 따라 염색성은 감소하는 관계를 시사했다.

  • Poly(trimethylene terephthalate)(이하 PTT)는 1941년 Caligo Printing Ink사의 Whinfield와 Dickson에 의해 중합 방법이 보고[1]된 이후 상업화를 위한 많은 학문적 연구가 이어져왔다. 그럼에도 불구하고 아직 PET에 비하여 기초 연구가 미비하며 상업적으로 사용하기에는 많은 불안정한 요소들을 가지고 있다. 앞선 연구자들이 밝힌바와 같이 PTT의 결정구조는 2개의 단량체가 1개의 unit cell을 이루면서 결정격자 내에서 O-C $H_2$-C $H_2$-C $H_2$-O가 trans-gauche-gauche-trans형의 coiled spring처럼 형성되어 좋은 elastic recovery와 뛰어난 신축성, 염색성 등 우수한 물성을 가지며 전반적인 성질은 PET와 Nylon의 중간성질을 뛰고 있지만 [2,3] 유리전이온도 (Tg : dir 4$0^{\circ}C$)와 냉결정화오도 ( $T_{ c cold}$ : dir 55$^{\circ}C$)사이의 차이가 15$^{\circ}C$ 정도이므로 섬유상에 많은 경시변화가 일으켜 구조적 불안정성을 가지게 한다 [4].   • Poly(butylene terephthalate)(PBT) is an important engineering polyester. It crystallizes much more easily and faster than PET. And these crystallization properties determine its use as an injection molding resin. Although it is more extensive than PET, its crystallization can be controlled much more easily during processing. General electric (Schenectady, NY) is the main producer of PBT films. Its production capacity was 3-5million pounds per year in 1987. (omitted)
