In this paper, we study the methodology to improve productivity and transportation efficiency simultaneously in the manufacturing environment of injection plants which has multiple injection machines arranged in parallel. In general, the post-processes such as finishing are continuously arranged in the injection machine located in the lower level of the injection plants, and one or two workers in charge of post-processing are always arranged. Therefore injection plants have low productivity due to post-processing and the front of the injection machine is very crowded due to various logistics flows. In this paper, we propose the designing methodology of conveyor structure for integrating the post-processes arranged at each injection machine and transporting the injection products to the integrated post-process automatically. Specifically, we propose the models for computing the number of conveyor units into the integrated processes, and for finding the optimal combinations to connect each machines and the conveyors. The proposed model is for the total productivity improvement, which are productivity and transportation efficiency. By applying the proposed model to companies that produce injection parts used for the home appliances, we verify the applicability and the effect of improving productivity and transportation efficiency, which more than 40%.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of extrusion temperature on puffing of white and red ginseng powder. The extrusion variables were feed material (red and white ginseng powder) and die temperature $(100\;and\;115^{\circ}C)$. The analyzed characteristics of ginseng extrudates were sectional expansion index, microstructure and rheological properties. Most of biopolymer was highly puffed at higher extrusion temperature, but the cross-sectional expansion of white and red ginseng powder was higher at 1000e and longitudinal expansion seems to higher at $115^{\circ}C$. White and red ginseng powder were puffed inconsistently and discontinuously at $115^{\circ}C$. The scanning electron microphotograph of extruded white ginseng was uniform air cell distribution at 100oe, but pore size increased at $115^{\circ}C$ and had fine uniformity due to pore explosion. White ginseng and its extrudate were pseudoplastic. Intrinsic viscosity was lower as a result of increased die temperature. The cross-sectional expansion seems to be inconsistent and decreased due to decrease in melt viscosity at $115^{\circ}C$.

This study investigates compressive strength of ice pellet strip which is potential medium for Natural Gas Hydrate(NGH) extruded from die holes of Twin-roll Press for Continuous Pelletizing(TPCP). Recently, the prototype of TPCP is newly developed where ice powder is continuously fed and extruded into strip-type pellet between twin rolls. The system is specifically designed for future expansion towards mass-production of ice pellet strips or solid form of natural gas hydrate. It is shown that the compressive strength of pellet strip heavily depends on factors in extrusion process such as disk size, surface smoothness, ring size, taper shape, feeding mechanism, and rotational speed. Here, the mechanism of TPCP, along with compressive strength of pellets is discussed in terms of its feasibility for producing NGH pellets in the future.
The continuous glass fiber reinforced poly-lactic acid (PLA) composite was manufactured by direct melt impregnation. The mechanical and thermal properties of continuous glass fiber reinforced PLA composite were observed. Measured properties were compared with the reference values of neat PLA and the injection molded glass fiber/ PLA composite. The continuous glass fiber reinforced PLA composite having a fiber volume fraction of 27.7% shows enhanced tensile strength of 331.1 MPa, flexural strength of 528.6 MPa, and flexural modulus of 24.0 GPa. The enhanced heat deflection temperature (HDT) and the increased cystallinity were also observed. The degree of impregnation as a function of pulling speed was also assessed. The degree of impregnation at the pulling speed of 5 m/min was over 90% in this research.
The effects of compositions of binders on the rheological properties of mixtures and the preparation conditions on the formation of defects and the debinding characteristics of compacts for the injection molding of ceramic powders (65 wt% aluminaㆍ35 wt% feldspar) were studied. Ceramic powders were coated with 2 wt% of stearic acid and then mixed with 15, 20, and 25 wt% of Paraffin Wax (PW) and High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) as binders at $160^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Rheological properties were investigated by using capillary rheometer. Apparent viscosities of mixtures were 80∼300 Paㆍs at 1,000$s^{-1}$ of a shear rate, it was good for the injection molding and depending on the compositions of binders. Short shot was formed at 15H5P5 (the ratio of HDPE : PW=5 : 5 in 15 wt% of binders) compacts without injection pressures and any noticeable defects were not formed at 45 kgf/$cm^{2}$ in 20H5P5 compacts. PW and HDPE were removed by the solvent extraction and thermal debinding method. Thermal debinding of HDPE at $450^{\circ}C$ for 5 h, which followed the extraction of PW was using n-heptane solvent at $70^{\circ}C$ for 5 h. Continuous pores in compacts, which facilitate the removal of HDPE by the thermal debinding, were found to form in the compacts when PW was removed by the solvent extraction. The optimum composition of binder at which binder was removed by thermal debinding without defects while maintaining the compact strength was 20H5P5. Bulk density, porosity and 3-point bending strength of 20H5P5 compact sintered at 1,30$0^{\circ}C$ for 5 h were 2.8, < 3%, and 2,400 kgf/$cm^{2}$, respectively, and can be used as a structural materials.

When a plume flow exhausted from a lunar lander descent engine impinges on the lunar surface, regolith particles on the lunar surface will be dispersed due to a plume-surface interaction. If the dispersed particles collide with the lunar lander, some adverse effects such as a performance degradation can be caused. Thus, this study tried to predict the plume flow behaviors using the CFD methods. A nozzle inside region was analyzed by a continuum flow model based on the Navier-Stokes equations while the plume behaviors of the outside nozzle was performed by comparing and analyzing the individual results using the continuum flow model and the DSMC method. As a result, it was possible to establish an optimum procedure of the plume analysis for the lunar lander descent engine in the vacuum condition. In the future, it is expected to utilize the present results for the development of the Korean lunar lander.
