  • 널리 사용되는 IBM-PC를 기본으로 하여 고속도 데이터 처리가 가능한 연소 해석 장치를 개발 였다. 본 시스템은 상용의 A/D변환기와 C언어를 사용한 소프트웨어 및 PC 인터페이스 보드로 구성되어 있다. 본 연소 해석 장치의 특징은 모든 기능이 모니터 상에서 마우스로 지원되며, P 상에서 타 프로그램을 위한 데이터 변환이 용이하고 메모리의 확장이 기존의 상용 연소 해석 치에 비해 간편하다. 연구용 단기통 기관실험을 통하여 본 시스템을 검증하였다. 연소실 내의 력은 크랭크 각도로 0.1.deg.에서 1.deg.의 해상도로 분석할 수 있다.

  • 여러 가지 다른 형태의 노즐을 공기 선회식 버너와 공기의 선회가 없는 버너(CB-125 Burner)에 장치하여 공기 분사식으로 오일을 분사하여 연소로에서 연소시켰다. 연소로는 길이 3m에 약 1m 상(3) 의 연소공간을 가졌으며 상부에는 열전대를 장치하고 하부에는 물이 흐르는 관을 설치하여 열효율을 계산할 수 있게 설계하였다. 연소로 연돌부에는 CO 하(2), CO, O 하(2) 가스 분석기를 사용하여 과잉공기량과 고온계로 배기가스 온도를 측정하도록 하였다. 모든 측정치는 연소곡선과 효율곡선에 의하여 얻어진 상수를 이용하여 계산한 연소로 성능방정식에 의하여 평가하였다. 실험치에 의해 계산한 벽면 열손실량과 열전달 공식에 의해 산출한 열손실량을 비교 분석하여 측정치의 정확도를 추정하고 과잉공기의 효과도 검토하였다. 그 결과 본 연구에서 사용된 두 종류의 버너와 여러 형태의 노즐이 오일 연소시 열효율 면에서 큰 차이를 보이지 않고 있음을 알았다.

Combustion Characteristics of Orifice Size of Torch in a CVCC (토치 점화 장치의 오리피스 직경에 따른 연소특성 파악)

  • Seven different size of orifice were applied in a constant volume combustion chamber for evaluating the effects of torch-ignition on combustion. The initial flame development and flame propagation were analyzed by the mass fraction burn and combustion enhancement rate. The combustion pressures were measured to calculate the mass fraction burn and the combustion enhancement rates. In addition, the flame propagations were visualized by the shadowgraph method for the qualitative comparison. The result showed that the combustion pressure and mass burned fraction were increased when using the torch-ignition device. The combustion enhancement rates of torch-ignition cases were improved in comparison with conventional spark ignition. Finally, the visualization results showed that the torch-ignition induced faster burn than conventional spark ignition due to the earlier transition to turbulent flame and larger flame surface, during the initial stage.

  • The accurate engine output is basically one of important factors for the analysis of engine performance. Nowadays in-cylinder pressure analyzer in internal combustion engine is also an indispensable tool for engine research and development, environment regulation and maintenance of engine. The combustion analysis is desperately needed in order to induce a correct judgment on the condition of the engine and suggest the specific ways to improvement as well as the correct engine output. And these tool is advantageous to reduce fuel consumption and maintenance of the engine. In this study, using the developed measuring kit, combustion analysis of marine generator engine which was adapted as test engine was carried out. It was verified that the good operation condition of the engine as well as contributing to fuel savings by checking and readjusting accurately the irregular combustion of the test engine were accomplished. From the results all above, it was recognized that the measuring kit by new method for engine output was developed and verified for its utilities.

  • A mechanical pulsator is manufactured for study of combustion instabilities in a model chamber with impinging-jet injectors. Artificial disturbance is generated by the device and thereby, artificial instability can be examined experimentally. A sample F(fuel)-O(dxidizer)-O-F impinging-jet injector is adopted for the test. The model chamber was designed based on the methodologies proposed in the previous work regarding geometrical dimensions and operating conditions. Pressure fluctuation data, which is obtained from the dynamic pressure transducers installed in combustion chamber, is analyzed.

The torch-ignition device was designed six different volumes and same orifice size. The combustion pressures were measured to calculate the mass burn fraction and combustion enhancement rate.   • For a preliminary study on a thrust-throttleable Variable Flow Ducted Rocket, a gas generator and flow control valve were developed, and ground combustion tests were performed. The gas generator and flow control valve operated at the required performance level for parameters, such as heat-resistance, combustion-time, pressure, and temperature. The combustion characteristics of a fuel-rich solid propellant mixed with Boron/MgAl/AP, etc., were also analyzed. A Plunger-type flow control valve was designed to control the discharge flow area, and it was confirmed that the flow control valve was able to control the combustion gas flow rate and pressure. However, due to the reduction of the discharge flow area caused by adhesion of combustion products, the combustion pressure continuously increased. The analysis of the pressure increase is covered in Part 2 of this paper.

  • This study aims to provide basic design data for a pintle injector and its combustion device through case study on the research and development of combustion devices to which a liquid-liquid pintle injector was applied. From data analysis, it was possible to provide the initial dimension of the combustion chamber and pintle injector based on the engine thrust, and the geometric characteristics of the high-efficiency injector. In addition, the pintle tip heat damage prevention mechanism and materials, face-shutoff pintle injector implementation method, and central propellant selection criteria were summarized. Theses results will be used as basic data for the design criteria of an initial pintle injector combustion device.

  • Ramjet engine is weak for low frequency combustion instability because of their long air flow passage. A model combustor which has fuel injector and V-gutter shaped flame holder was designed and fabricated in order to simulate a combustion mechanism of ramjet engine, and it could demonstrate combustion instability which might occur in ramjet combustor. The frequency of the instability was very similar to that of acoustic resonance frequency of combustor, and it proved that a typical combustion instability by thermo-acoustic coupling occurred.

신궁 추진기관 동적 시험 및 결과분석

  • 일반적으로 고체추진 로켓 모타의 개발단계 때 공통적으로 수행되는 주시험(main test)으로는 추력, 압력, 회전률 등의 성능측정을 하기 위한 정적연소시험(static firing test), 내부 정수압(hydrostatic pressure)에 의한 폭발 압력 시험, 연소중이나 연소 후 케이스에 대한 굽힘 강성 시험, 이외에 노화 시험, 환경시험 등이 요구된다. 그러나 신궁과 같은 휴대용 대공 시스템의 추진기관 개발의 경우에는 사수를 보호하기 위해 여러 가지 안전장치들이 설계되고, 이러한 장치들의 성능에 대한 요구 조건들을 확인하기 위한 특수시험(specific test)들이 필요하게 된다. 이러한 특수시험을 위한 각종 시험대들을, 위에서 언급한 주시험을 위해 사용되는 정적시험대(static test bench)들과 구분하기 위해 동적 시험대(DTB : Dynamic Test Bench)라고 한다. 본 연구에서는 신궁 추진기관의 사출모타 점화에서 비행모타 점화에 이르는 일련의 비행절차를 확인하기 위한 동적 시험대 설계 및 제작, 계측장치 구성 및 데이터 획득 방법 등에 관한 내용을 소개하며, 동적 시험대에서 수회에 걸쳐 수행된 동적 시험 결과를 분석/정리하였다.
