Investigation on Friction Noise in Beam Structure Under Mode-Coupling by Using Analytical Finite-Element Squeal Model (스퀼 융합모델을 이용한 모드연성에 의한 빔 구조 마찰 소음 연구)

  • This study provided the analytical finite element method estimating the friction-induced noise on the complex beam structure. The frictional contact model was theoretically constructed and applied to the analytical finite element squeal model. The numerical results showed that the beam structure was excited by the mode-coupling instability of the specific system modes. Also, the direction of friction was shown to influence on the dynamic instability of the modes. Besides, the unstable modal frequencies estimated from the numerical calculation were validated by the experiment of the actual beam structure.

Mode Localization in Multispan Beams with Massive and Stiff Couplers on Supports (지점 위에 질량과 강성이 큰 연결기를 갖는 다경간 보의 모드편재)

  • The influences of the coupler consisting of stiffness and mass between neighboring two spans on mode localization are studied theoretically, and the results are confirmed by numerical examples. The mass of the coupler makes a structure sensitive to mode localization especially in higher modes while the stiffness does in all modes. A new type of delocalization phenomenon is observed for the first time in some modes for which mode localization does not occur or is very weak although structural disturbances are severe. A spring-mass system consisting of two substructures and a coupler connecting them is considered in the part of analytical study. As example structures for numerical analysis. simply supported continuous two-span beams with a coupler having a rotational stiffness and a mass moment of inertia on the mid support are considered.

  • 많은 공학자들은 기계 재료의 종류 및 형태에 따른 정적, 동적 특성 연구를 수행해 왔다. 특히 산업적으로 그 활용도가 높은 평판 재료에 대한 진동 특성 연구는 많이 이루어졌다. 최근에는 진동 특성을 해석하는 방법도 부분구조합성법, 감도해석법 등의 방법으로 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 한편 평판의 진동이 공기와 같은 매질로 상호 작용을 하며, 막힘이 없는 공간으로 음향을 방사하는 현상에 대한 연구도 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 평판 재료를 사용하여 기계 구조물을 제작하는 경우 많은 경우에 구조물간 결합에 의해 폐공간이 형성되고 이러한 폐공간에 의해 평판의 진동이 구조-음향 연성 현상이 발생되고, 이에 따라 평판의 진동 특성도 달라지게 된다. 이러한 구조-음향 연성에 대한 연구는 1978년 Wayne B.McDonald와 C.Kearney Barton, 1979년 R.Vaicatis에 의해 폐공간 내로의 음향 전달 현상을 연구하며 이루어졌다. 최근에 연구 동향은 이장명의 FEM과 BEM을 이용한 폐공간 내로의 음향 전달 현상을 연구하였고, V.B.Bokil에 의해 구조-음향 연성된 평판의 모드 해석 방법이 연구되었다. 한편 V.Martin에 의해 능동 소음 제어의 모델링을 좀더 정확히 하기 위해 구조 연성계를 고려한 연구도 수행되었다. 연구 결과 구조-음향 연성에 의한 평판의 고유진동수 변화를 구하였고 이 때에 경계조건을 만족하는 직교다항식을 이용한 Rayleigh-Ritz 방법을 이용하였다. 또한 이러한 해석은 실험과도 매우 잘 일치함을 알 수 있었다.

Vibration Analysis for Infinite Length Waveguide Structures Connected with Finite Length Structures Using Impedance Coupling (유한 길이 구조물과 무한 길이 도파관 구조물의 임피던스 연성을 이용한 진동 해석)

  • In case that an infinite length waveguide structure is connected with a finite length structure, it is required to combine a wave approach for the waveguide structure and a modal approach for the finite length structure to investigate the dynamic response of the connected target structure. In this study, the wavenumber finite element (WFE) analysis is adopted for the infinite length waveguide substructure and a finite element (FE) method is applied for the finite length substructure and then their results are coupled in terms of the impedance or mobility at the connected points between the substructures. As a structural model, an infinite length cylindrical shell with a rectangular plate inside is regarded. These two substructures are connected at the four corner points of the plate, rigidly or resiliently. From this investigation, it was confirmed that the wave approach (WFE method) and modal approach (FE method) can be combined by the impedance coupling.

Elastic Interactive Shear Buckling Behavior of Trapezoidally Corrugated Steel Webs (제형파형강판 복부판의 탄성 연성전단좌굴 거동)

  • Corrugated webs have been used for composite prestressed concrete box girder bridges. Innovative steel plate girders using corrugated webs have been proposed. It has been found that analytical and experimental researches conducted to determine the strength of trapezoidally corrugated webs can fail with respect to three different buckling modes: local, global, and interactive shear buckling. Shear buckling capacity equations based on classical and orthotropic plate buckling theories have been proposed,but these equations show some differences. In this paper, geometric parameters that influence interactive shear buckling behavior with interaction effects are identified via extensive bifurcation buckling analysis using the finite element meth.

  • This study investigated the dynamic instability of a ceramic-on-ceramic artificial hip joint system through complex eigenvalue analysis. We examined the mode-coupling mechanism through eigenvalue sensitivity analysis with the variation of system parameters. In addition, we constructed a finite element model including the negative slope of friction curve for investigating the negative-slope mechanism in the hip squeak problem. The numerical results show that the torsion-dominant mode becomes unstable due to the presence of the negative slope while the axial load is the important factor influencing the negative-slope type instability.

  • Of srategic importance nowdays is the development of high performance spacecraft bus. In this study, optimization for spacecraft structure is performed under the framework of coupled load analysis which is a branch of component mode synthesis with constrained mode and modal transient analysis. unlike the traditional method which uses the quasi-static table supplied by launch vehicle contractor, the present method adots the load results of previous coupled load analysis. It if shown that the proposed method can serve as a effective tool for the optimization spacecraft structure in the early stage of design and weight reduction by numerical example.

  • The foundation of offshore wind energy system is generally assumed to be fixed-ended in system analysis for the convenience of calculation and, correspondingly, it might lead a conservative design. If soil-foundation interaction get involved with the analysis, the system characteristics such as natural frequency, shear force, moment and displacement are expected to differ from those of fixed-ended case. In this study, the analysis have been conducted to identify how the response of offshore wind turbine varies upon considering the foundation flexibility with soil-foundation interaction. The model taking account of the flexibility of foundation was compared with fixed-ended model at the seabed. The flexibilities of foundation were obtained by coupled spring model at the seabed and Winkler Spring Model with soil depth. As a result, the first mode of the whole system with the Winkler Spring Model was decreased relative to that with the fixed-ended model. The results showed that the effect of foundation flexibility should be considered when designing the offshore wind energy system.

Analysis on the Elastic Shear Buckling Characteristics of Corrugated Steel Plate in Accordance with Corrugation Shape (형상에 따른 주름강판의 탄성전단좌굴 특성 및 경향성 분석 연구)

  • This paper aims at comparing and analyzing shear buckling characteristics between sinusoidal corrugation shape and trapezoidal one. For this, I adopted the equal-length trapezoidal corrugation and sinusoidal one for the analytical models, and analyzed their shear buckling characteristics through linear buckling analysis and on its theory. Generally, the shear buckling shapes of corrugated steel plates are classified into local buckling, global buckling, and interactive buckling from the two buckling modes. Sinusoidal corrugation shape, unlike trapezoidal corrugation, does not have flat sides, which causes another tendency in shear buckling mode. Especially, the changes and different aspects of shear buckling on the boundary between local buckling and global buckling appear in different corrugation shapes. According to the analysis results, interactive buckling mode appeared on the boundary of local buckling and global bucking in trapezoidal corrugation. However, in the case of corrugated steel plates with sinusoidal configuration, interactive buckling mode appeared in the part where global bucking takes place. Besides, trapezoidal shapes are of advantages on shear buckling resistance in the local buckling section, and so are sinusoidal shapes in the global buckling section.

A Study on the Characteristics of Coupling Loss factor Associated with Fluid Loading (접수 구조물의 연성손실계수 변화에 관한 연구)

  • Statistical Energy Analysis(SEA) is an efficient tool to predict the broadband noise and vibration for the huge and complex structures such as aircraft and ships. To estimate the noise and vibration by using SEA accurately, the characteristics of SEA parameters associated with fluid loading have to be investigated. In this report, the fluid loaded coupling loss factors were calculated for an 'L' and 'T' type line connections and compared to the ones without fluid loading. Then, the vibration levels for steel box model with 'L' and 'T' type line connection were computed using the fluid loaded and no fluid loaded coupling loss factors, respectively. As a result, the calculated vibration levels of the model using the fluid loaded coupling loss factors were lower than those without fluid loading. As a conclusion, it is necessary to use the fluid loaded coupling loss factors for increasing the prediction accuracy on the noise and vibration of immersed structures.
