  • The paper proposes the design of AES-based encryption chip for IoT security. ROM based S-Box implementation occurs a number of memory space and some delay problems for its access. In this approach, S-Box is designed by pipeline structure on composite field GF((22)2) to get faster calculation results. In addition, in order to achieve both higher throughput and less delay, shared S-Box are used in each round transformation and the key scheduling process. The proposed AES crypto-processor is described in Veilog-HDL, and Xilinx ISE 14.7 tool is used for logic synthesis by using Xilinx XC6VLX75T FPGA. In order to perform the verification of the crypto-processor, the timing simulator(ModelSim 10.3) is also used.

  • We present a novel content-preserving seam estimation algorithm for real-time high-resolution video stitching. Seam estimation is one of the fundamental steps in image/video stitching. It is to minimize visual artifacts in the transition areas between images. Typical seam estimation algorithms are based on optimization methods that demand intensive computations and large memory. The algorithms, however, often fail to avoid objects and results in cropped or duplicated objects. They also lack temporal consistency and induce flickering between frames. Hence, we propose an efficient and temporarily-consistent seam estimation algorithm that utilizes a straight line. The proposed method also uses convolutional neural network-based instance segmentation to locate seam at out-of-objects. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method produces visually plausible stitched videos with minimal visual artifacts in real-time.

  • To date, most identity-based key agreement protocols are based on a single PKG (Private Key Generator) environment. In 2002, Chen and Kudla proposed an identity-based key agreement protocol for a multiple PKG environment, where each PKG shares identical system parameters but possesses distinct master key. However, it is more realistic to assume that each PKG uses different system parameters including the PKG's master key. In this paper, we propose a new two party key agreement protocol between users belonging to different PKGs that do not share system parameters. We also extend this protocol to two types of tripartite key agreement protocols. We show that our two party protocol requires minimal amount of pairing computation for a multiple PKG environment and our tripartite protocol is more efficient than existing protocols. We also show that the proposed key agreement protocols satisfy every security requirements of key agreement protocol.

  • Finite field multipliers are the basic building blocks in many applications such as error-control coding, cryptography and digital signal processing. Hence, the design of efficient dedicated finite field multiplier architectures can lead to dramatic improvement on the overall system performance. In this paper, a new bit serial structure for a multiplier with low latency in Galois field is presented. To speed up multiplication processing, we divide the product polynomial into several parts and then process them in parallel. The proposed multiplier operates standard basis of $GF(2^m)$ and is faster than bit serial ones but with lower area complexity than bit parallel ones. The most significant feature of the proposed architecture is that a trade-off between hardware complexity and delay time can be achieved.

  • In this paper, we present a security analysis of Lightweight RFID Mutual Authentication Protocols-LMAP[10], $M^2AP$[11], EMAP[12]. Based on simple logic operations, the protocols were designed to be suitable for lightweight environments such as RFID systems. In [8,9], it is shown that these protocols are vulnerable to do-synchronization attacks with a high probability. The authors also presented an active attack that partially reveals a tag's secret values including its ID. In this paper, we point out an error from [9] and show that their do-synchronization attack would always succeed. We also improve the active attack in [9] to show an adversary can compute a tag's ID as well as certain secret keys in a deterministic way. As for $M^2AP$ and EMAP, we show that eavesdropping $2{\sim}3$ consecutive sessions is sufficient to reveal a tag's essential secret values including its ID that allows for tracing, do-synchronization and/or subsequent impersonations.

  • Recently, many hash-based authentication protocols were presented to guarantee mutual authentication between tag and DB in RFID system. To be suitable for distributed DB environment, one generally uses fixed constant value as a tag ID. However, some existing protocols have security flaws or heavy computational loads in DB in order to search a tag ID. We propose a secure authentication protocol which is suitable for distributed DB environment by using unchangeable tag ID. The storage method of pre-synchronized information in DB at previous session is core idea of our proposal which gives low-cost ID search of DB at next session. In normal synchronization state, our protocol only requires 3 hash operations in tag and DB respectively.

  • Reducing handoff latency is essential in providing seamless multimedia service in Wireless LAN based on the IEEE 802.11 standard. Reducing authentication delay is critical in reducing handoff latency. To this end, several authentication protocols for fBst handoff have been proposed. Mishra et al. used proactive key distribution to improve the authentication delay incurred in the current standard and Park et al. proposed a new authentication protocol based on Blom's key pre-distribution scheme. In this paper, we propose an enhanced authentication protocol based on Bresson et al.'s group key protocol. If a mobile node has previously access the network, our proposed protocol only requires simple hash operations in providing mutual authentication between a mobile node and access points. Our protocol is more efficient than Park et al.'s and Mishra et al.'s technique can be used in our protocol to further enhance our protocol.

  • In vehicular networks, vehicles should be able to authenticate each other to securely communicate with network-based infrastructure, and their locations and identifiers should not be exposed from the communication messages. however, when an accident occurs, the investigating authorities have to trace down its origin. As vehicles communicate not only with RSUs(Road Side Units) but also with other vehicles, it is important to minimize the number of communication flows among the vehicles while the communication satisfies the several security properties such as anonymity, authenticity, and traceability. In our paper, when the mutual authentication protocol is working between vehicles and RSUs, the protocol offers the traceability with privacy protection using pseudonym and MAC (Message Authentication Code) chain. And also by using MAC-chain as one-time pseudonyms, our protocol does not need a separate way to manage pseudonyms.

  • We study on the security for the block ciphers with 20block structure which have provable security against DC and LC on the view point of higher order DC, 2-block structures are classified three types according to the location of round function such as C(Center)-type R(Right)-type and L(Left)-type We prove that in the case of 4 rounds encryption function these three types provide the equal strength against higher order DC and that in the case of 5 or more rounds R-type is weaker than C-type and L-type.

  • In this paper a hardware design of area-efficient hash processor which implements MD5 algorithm using hardware sharing and carry-save addition schemes is described. To reduce area, the processor adopts hardware sharing scheme in which 1 step operation is divided into 2 substeps and then each substep is executed using the same hardware. Also to increase clock frequency, three serial additions of substep operation are transformed into two carry-save additions and one carry propagation addition. The MD5 hash processor is designed using 0.25 $\mu\textrm{m}$CMOS technology and consists of about 13,000 gates. From timing simulation results, the designed MD5 hash processor has 465 Mbps hash rates for 512-bit input message data under 120 MHz operating frequency.
