A Study on Characteristics of Die Finishing Using Conductive Elastic Tool (도전성 탄성공구를 이용한 금형연마 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The finishing process for dies and molds is an important process because it has influence on final quality of products. And it is difficult to automatize finishing process so that the process has depended on expert's skill until now. However, recently a study on development of die automatic finishing machine has been progressed, and actually this machine is applied to fabrication of die. But the research about tooling system is not enough and finishing tool must have high machining efficiency and adaptability of curved surface. So, this study investigated the application of conductive elastic tool which is composed of metal-resin bonded pellet and elastic backing material. The metal-resin bonded pellet is used to finish the surface by conventional mechanical grinding or electro-chemial grinding method. And elastic backing material is used to follow the curved surface. So conductive elastic tool has long lifetime, uniform removal rate and adaptability of curved surface.

A Study on the Abrasive Wear Properties of the PTA Overlay Layers using the Super Alloy Powder (초내열합금분말에 의한 PTA 오버레이부의 연삭 마모 특성 연구)

  • The Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) overlay welding method is lately introduced as one of the most useful surface overlay method of the engine component. In this paper, the overlay welding on the SNCrW heat resisting alloy was conducted by the PTA overlay welding process using the super alloy powder. The characteristics of the overlay layers were investigated through the metallurgical and abrasive test. Experimental results showed that the overlay on the SNCrW heat resisting alloy surface was successfully made without hot cracking. The friction wear characteristics of the Co-base Stellite 6 overlayer were most superior. However the abrasive wear characteristics were most inferior in the Co-base Stellite 6 overlayer.

Micro-tribological Properties of Coated Silicon Wafer (코팅된 실리콘웨이퍼의 Microtribological 특성)

  • In recent years, the tribological behavior of coated ceramic material has been the topic of much interest. Particularly, the understanding of the tribological performance of thin film under light load is important for potential applications in MEMS. In this work under light load and low speed, the tribological behavior of coated silicon was investigated. The results show that both adhesive and abrasive wear occur depending on the sliding condition. Also the effect of humidity on friction was influenced by the apparent ares of contact between the two surfaces. Finally, undulations on the silicon wafer were found to be effective in trapping wear particles.

Grinding Characteristics of Diamond Burs in Dentistry (AE에 의한 치과용 다이아몬드 버의 연삭가공 특성)

  • This study was carried out to verify finding performance of dental diamond bur and investigate the possibility of AE application in density field. Work pieces were made of acryl and bovine respectively for the experiments in this study. Grinding test was conducted to get the data of grinding resistance and specific finding energy of low different types of diamond bur by using tool dynamometer. AE signal was acquired to verify grinding process in the AE measuring system. AErms value was increased as the grinding velocity and depth were increasing, but it decreased as the feed rate was increasing. The case of the small value of AE signal is due to abnormal grinding in D type diamond bur. By analyzing AErms start and finish time of grinding working, abnormal grinding state can be confined. Abnormal state can be found through the behavior of AE signal in the finding working. As a result, it is expected that forecast of abnormal state is possible using AE equipments under real time process.

  • In order to utilize the information of well-known grinding data or grinding machine, a database needs to be designed by considering the delicate property of the machine tools for the high precision and quality of the demanding specification. Among the machine tools, machining conditions of the grinding are various and knowledge repeatance obtained form the grinding process are less credable.Therefore it is desirable for D/B, which is used to set the grinding conditions, to utilize the maximum machine tool capability. The present paper studied occurance limit of chatter vibration and burn considering the characteristics of machine tool. And also basic experiments were performed to establish optimum grinding canditions which can maximize the machining efficiency.

  • This paper aims at reviewing the possibility application over normal or abnormal, detection used by AE and the characteristics of grinding process. In this study, when diamond bur in dentistry with chosen grinding conditions were tuned at grinding. The variation of grinding resistance and AE signal is detected by the use of AE measuring system. The tests are carried out in accordance with diamond burs and workpiece: arcyl and cowteeth. According to the experiment results, the following can be expected; AE has the possibility to detect the state normality and abnormality. However, the grinding resistance measuring can find it difficult to detect it. It can be accurately excepted from AE occurrence pattern in contact start point of diamond but and cowteeth, grinding condition and derailment point. It is known that AErms is well compatible with grinding resistance.

  • The new square electro-magnetic chuck, which is using for the clamping devices on a grinding machine, is developed in this study to improve the convenience of grinding works. The various kinds of structures are recommended to find the most adequate magnetic characteristics through the analytical approach using finite element methods. The analyzed results are retrofitted to solve the drawbacks of previous models step by step by considering the magnetic fields, strength and distribution of drag force, and thermal deformations of chuck. such as high parallelism and flatness. Finally the best recommended models is designed to satisfy the KS specifications required for the commercial magnetic chuck. The prototype chuck with this dimensions and structures is manufactured. For this final model, the experimental verifications are investigated whether the KS specifications are satisfied.

  • 세라믹스는 우수한 기계적, 전기적, 화학적성질로 인하여 여러방면에서 점점 기대가 높아가 고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 그 이용 범위나, 응용이 늦은 것은 가공성에 문제가 있기 때문 이라 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다. 세라믹스의 가공법으로서는 주로 다이야몬드 지립을 이용한 연삭, 절단, 래핑등이 행하여지고 있지만 이러한 방법은 가공 능률이낮기 때문에 생산성에 많은 문제를 안고 있다. 본 연구에서는 다이야몬드공구와 산화물계 A1$_{2}$0$_{3}$를 피삭재로 하여 다양한 절삭조건과 공구의 형상을 변화시켜 선삭 실험을 통하여 절삭력의 크기, 칩의 형태, 공작물의 형상, 표면조도 및 공구마멸등 절삭의 특성을 검토 하였으며 절삭에 의한 파인세라믹 스의 가공 가능성을 확인하고자 한다.

  • 근년에 들어 우리 인류 사회는 우주 개발, 원자력 산업, 일렉트로닉스 산업 분야등에 걸친 눈부신 발전을 이루게 되며서 보다 극한적인 가혹한 환경 조건하에서도 뛰어난 내열성, 내식성, 기계적 강도, 전.자기적 특성등을 가지며 칫수의 정밀도가 좋은 재료를 필수로 하게 되었다. 이에따라 최근 새로이 등장하게 된것이 전기.전자 기능 등의 기능성을 지닌 기능 재료, 내열 구조 재료, 고강도 재료 등으로서 우수한 성능를 갖는 화인 세라믹스인데 이는 요즘 전세계적 으로 미래지향적 고부가가치의 전기.전자 부품, 기계 부품, 광학 부품 및 그 밖의 기타 첨단 산업 분야의 전반에 걸쳐 주목받고 있는 신소재이다. 즉, 종래의 전통적인 세라믹스로서 인식 되어 왔던 세라믹스 재료를 전혀 새로운 생각을 갖고 미래지향적 신소재로 만든 화인 세라믹스 재료가 등장하게 된것이다. 그러나 화인 세라믹스 부품의 제조에 있어서는 소결과정에서의 재료 수축을 피할 수 없는바, 단순 성형, 소결 과정으로만 끝나 실용화되는 제품을 제외한 정밀 기계, 구조용 부품등으로의 활용을 위해선 최종적인 재료의 정도를 내기 위한 기계 제거가공의 후가공 공정을 필수로한다.

Properties of Mirror-surface Grinding for Metal Matrix Ceramic Composites (금속기지 세라믹 복합소재의 경면연삭 가공 특성)

  • This study has been focused on properties of mirror surface grinding technology by ELID(Electrolytic In-process Dressing) for metal matrix ceramic composites using in high precision mirror for optics. The experimental studies have been carried out to get mirror surface by grinding for composites, Al-SiC, Al-graphite and Mg-SiC. Grinding process is carried out with varying abrasive mesh type, depth of cut and feed rate using diamond wheel. The machining result of the surface roughness and condition of ground surface, have been analyzed by use of surface roughness tester and SEM measurement system. ELID grinding technology could be applied successfully for the mirror-surface manufacturing processes in spite of ductility of metal matrix material. As the results of experiments, surface roughness of Al-SiC(45 wt%) has been the most superior in these experimental work-pieces as 0.021 ${\mu}m$ Ra.
