A Estimation Model of The Fuel Consumption Based on The Vehicle Speed Pattern (차량 속도패턴에 따른 연료소모량 관계식 산정)

  • It is practically hard to measure vehicle fuel consumption required to evaluate the energy-related governmental policies and traffic management strategies; the existing methods are too simplified due to the limited field data available. Existing methods are even unable to reflect the amount of fuel consumed when vehicles accelerate and decelerate, and such technical limitations have reduced the quality of the policy evaluation. This study proposes a new fuel consumption model that simultaneously considers the effects of both cruising speed and acceleration/deceleration of vehicles. A new fuel consumption model was developed based on the simulation data generated by AVL Cruise, a vehicle simulation program. The estimated by the proposed model was compared against the one from the existing method. Comparison results showed that the proposed model provided much reliable estimate (fuel consumption) than the other did.

  • An inspection of nuclear fuel rods should be performed at remoteness from risks of high level radioactivity, and accuracy is required. Currently, inspection of the nuclear fuel rods is operated to monitor the video that recording an original nuclear fuel rods at remoteness because of the risks of radioactivity. In this paper, it is an implementation of the system was carried out in the process according to the image processing inspection of the nuclear fuel rods. The nuclear fuel rods are configured to use a bundle of plurality, in the image processing technology to verify this, the edge detection method is useful. We suggest to DoG technique to add threshold for the nuclear fuel rod edge detections. This is the new technique that optimized DoG. It is to deal with DoG and threshold to dual process. In this way, after detecting an edge of the nuclear fuel rods, by running a nuclear fuel rod inspection algorithm to determine the status of nuclear fuel rods. We applied the system using the new algorithm, and confirmed an excellent characteristic. In this study, it is considered to be able to be carried out more easily and securely inspect of nuclear fuel rods.

  • Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) generate electricity by electrochemical reactions of hydrogen and oxygen. PEMFCs are expected to alternate electric power generator using fossil fuels with various advantages of high power density, low operating temperature, and environmental-friendly products. PEMFCs have widely been used in a number of applications such as fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) and stationary fuel cell systems. However, there are remaining technical issues, particularly the long-term durability of each part of fuel cells. Degradation of a carbon supported-platinum catalyst in the anode and cathode follows various mechanistic origins in different fuel cell operating conditions, and thus accelerated stress test (AST) is suggested to evaluate the durability of electrocatalyst. In this article, comparable protocols of the AST durability test are intensively explained.

  • In most PEM fuel cell research, effects of cell geometry, physical properties of component such as membrane, carbon cloth, catalyst, etc. and water transport phenomena are key issues. The scope of these research was limited to single cell and stack except BOP(Balance of plant) of fuel cell. The research fouced on the fuel cell system usually neglect to consider detailed transport phenomena in the cell. The research of the fuel cell system was interested in a system performance and system dynamics. In this paper, the effect of the anode recirculation is calculated using the 2D steady-state model. For this work, 2D steady-state modeling and experiments are performed. For convenience of modifying of model equation, not commercial pakage but the in-house algorithm was used in simulation. For an vehicle industry, the analysis of the anode recirculation system helps the optimization of operating condition of the fuel cell.

Fabrication and Characteristics of Anode-Supported Tube for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (습식법에 의한 고체산화물 연료전지용 연료극 지지체관의 제조 및 특성 연구)

  • To develop anode-supported tubular cell with proper porosity, we have investigated the anode substrate and t the electrolyte-coated anode tube. The anode substrate was manufactured as a function of carbon content in the range of 20 to 50 vol.%. As the carbon COntent increased, the porosity of the anode substrate increased slightly and the carbon c content with proper porosity is found to be 30 vol.%. The anode-supported tube was fabricated by extrusion process a and the electrolyte layer was coated on the anode tube by slurry coating process. The anode-supported tube was cofired successfully at $^1400{\circ}C$ in air. The porosity of the anode tube was 35%. From the gas permeation test, the anode t tube was found to be porous enough for gas supply. On the other hand, the anode-supported tube with electrolyte layer indicated a very low gas permeation rate. This means that the coated electrolyte was dense.

Implementation of Fuel Quantity Measurement System for Aircraft Using Capacitive Fuel Sensor (정전용량형 연료센서를 이용한 항공기 연료량측정시스템 구현)

  • The amount of fuel, which affects aircraft endurance, needs to be measured accurately. This paper deals with the implementation of a fuel quantity measurement system that consists of capacitive fuel sensor, DAQ board, and Labview software. The main circuit of the implemented system for measuring fuel quantity is simulated with Pspice to identify parameters, which are related to the change of fuel quantity. After simulation, we established that Vrms changes with the variation of fuel amount. The Vrms, which is the output of fuel sensor, is transmitted to the Labview software via the DAQ board of the implemented fuel quantity measurement system. The fuel quantity is also calculated using this software. The present simulation results indicated that the accuracy of the implemented fuel quantity measurement system improved with the filter application.

  • 지금까지 연료전지 시스템의 효율을 극대화시키기 위한 기술들이 개발되어 왔는데, 대표적인 방법은 CHP(Combined Heat & power)와 FCT(Fuel cell & Turbine) Hybrid 시스템이다. 그러나 본 연구의 기술은 연료전지 배열을 이용한 Coanda 공기증폭기를 장착한 새로운 개념의 고효율 연료전지 시스템이다. 원래 공기 증폭기는 완만한 곡면 주위를 흐르는 유체가 곡면의 표면을 따라 흐름의 방향이 바뀌는 원리(Coanda Effect)를 이용한 장치로서, 소량의 고압유체를 구동 에너지원으로 사용하여 최고 20배에 해당하는 많은 양의 주변 유체를 빠른 속도로 이송시키는 역할을 한다. 문제는 고압의 유체원을 만드는 것인데, 본 연구에서는 발전용 연료전지 시스템의 배기가스를 활용하여 먼저 고압의 수증기를 발생시키고, 다음으로 고압의 수증기를 공기 증폭기의 구동원으로 사용함으로써 연료전지 시스템의 Air blower를 대체하는 것이다. 이러한 개념을 검증하기 위해서 고압의 스팀작동 Coanda 공기증폭기를 제작하여 선행실험을 진행하였다. 먼저 공기증폭기의 Gap 및 스팀압력에 따른 공기유량, 압력 등의 기본특성을 조사하였고, 출력 공기의 특성을 개선하기 공기증폭기의 형상 및 재료를 새롭게 설계하였다. 그리고 실제 시스템의 적용가능성을 알아보기 위해서, 예로 300kW급 용융탄산염 연료전지 발전시스템의 Air blower 대체가능성을 확인하였고, 배열이용 Coanda 공기증폭기를 활용한 고효율 연료전지 시스템의 개념설계를 수립하였다. 결론적으로 본 기술을 활용하면 연료전지 시스템의 최종 전기효율을 향상시킬 뿐 아니라는 시스템의 장기 신뢰성을 증대시키는 효과를 기대할 수 있다.

A Study on the Effects of Heating of Fuel Oil on Combustion Characteristics and Engine Performance (연료유 가열이 디젤기관의 연소특성 및 기관성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is concerned with the effects of temperature of diesel fuel on combustion characteristics and engine performance in a home-made precombustion diesel engine for small-sized fishing boat. The results may be summarized as follows: 1. The fuel injection timing was delayed with increase in temperature for diesel fuel, and remarkably delayed at low load. 2. The point of maximum pressure was delayed with increase in temperature for diesel fuel, the maximum pressure decreased with increase in temperature for diesel fuel but increased with increase in load. 3. The brake specific fuel comsumption (BSFC) decreased with increase in load, the optimum temperature of the heated fuel was about 15$0^{\circ}C$. 4. The smoke emissions increased with increase in load and temperature for diesel fuel.
