  • One of the advantages of BOT PF(Project Finance) is the government can be protected from risks involved in projects as the private finances, builds, and operates relevant projects. Moreover, the private may avoid outstanding responsibility in case of default thanks to BOT PF's unique financial structure and characteristics. However, despite increasing attention on risk mitigation effect of financial structure and characteristic of BOT PF to default risk with emerging controversies of capital crunch, introduction of IFRS, and contingent liabilities, valuation of default risk mitigation effect caused by financial structure and characteristics of BOT PF still seems sophisticated due to uncertain cash flows, complexly layered contracts, and their interaction. So, this paper is to show the theoretical frame to assess the default risk mitigation effect of financial structure and characteristic of BOT PF with option pricing and related financial economic theories and to provide some meaningful implications. Finally, this research shows that the financial structure and characteristics of BOT PF help mitigate the default risk and default risk mitigation effect increases as change of relevant variables on financial feasibility gets the BOT project less financially feasible.

  • This study analyzed the urban structure of Jinju city where urban doughnut phenomena, development of new town at suburban zone and establishment of innovation city appear. The sphere of this study was set limit to Jinju's dong area due to taking the limitation of data. Multivariate analysis was done by using 24 variables to classify into seven clusters(CBD, Industrial Area, Residential Area etc). We studied regional condition and problems at the relation between analyzed regional features of this study and development principles at the upper planning. Jinju city needs urban redevelopment, reconstruction works and redevelopment promotion project for urban outworn zone in view of the regional conditions to innovate outdated city image and restore western Gyeongnam as a central city and also they should promote innovative city that is progressing now and construction of new town that is linked with Sangpyeong industrial complex removal as well as the whole Chojang-dong zone. In conclusion, this study will help to understand regional phenomenon like regional development project and urban management.

  • Dynamic nature of the A/E/C industry, rapidly changing global market environment, and lowest cost competitive bidding make it difficult to survive in global engineering markets. To understand of the global design&engineering market, a case study has been undertaken. The top 150 global design forms represented in the ENR(Engineering News Record) from 1995 to 2003 are classified three groups for the case study, First group is the firms that its rank is getting raised from 1995. Second group is the firms keep holding its rank from 1994 until 2003. Third group is the firms that its rank has gone down from 1995 until 2003. • Recently there has been insignificant growth in the Korean construction management (CM) market, in comparison to the previous year. However, despite stagnation or even decreasing growth trends, the number of domestic companies participating in the CM market has increased rapidly. As follows, market movements of CM despite trending in stagnant growth or decrease, the market has been increasing firms which entry the market. The reasons for such dynamic change must be examined first, in order to facilitate analysis of its competitive structure. This study aims to examine the market competition structure and analyze the reason for proliferation of companies in the sick CM market. This study employs market concentration ratio and DEA-based Malmquist productivity indices to analyze the competitive structure of the CM market. Results reveal that the CM market has been monopolized by a few companies, but this is gradually changing. In addition, these companies were not productive, but there has been a gradual increase in the productivity index. Therefore, this study, which provides the direction index of the CM market, has implications for all major stakeholders in this market.

  • There are lots of controversies over the introduction of MVNO(Mobile Virtual Network Operator) policy to Korean mobile telecommunications market. MVNO is a kind of service-based competition in mobile market. This paper attempts to analyze the ripple effect of MVNO regulation and also desirable ways of implementing the policy. Based on Laffont, Rey and Tirole(1998), Armstrong (1998) model, theoretical MVNO model is defined and derived implications of price, quantity in the market. According to the model, the fact that MNOs have one-way access profit leads the static efficiency by lowering its market price. In regarding the most desirable way to enhance social welfare is revealed as 'two MNOs conduct MVNO' other than 'One MNO does' or 'Structurally divided network'.

  • Technology is closely related to industrial development and various studies have been performed to understand the linked structure for knowledge flow between the technology and industry. The research, however, wasn't carried out to flow for Korea National Research and Development projects. In this study, linked structure for technology-industry was discussed by utilizing patent data performed in actual National R&D using NTIS Information of the national research and development, and then it was analyzed how knowledge flows between the technology and industry are flowing. It should be defined that the individual applications expected by researchers at the start of the research and technology-industry applications actually applied from the research performances after research was completed. As a result, it was confirmed in most projects the flow of knowledge was occurring to predicted industries before the start of the R&D. However, the technology was applied to unexpected industry in three industries such as Y09(medical, precision and optical instruments), Y10(electrical and mechanical equipment), Y11(automotive and transportation equipment). The results of this study will be able to contribute to planning for efficient investment strategy of technology-industry by investigating the technology-industry knowledge flow relations of national R&D projects.
