Development of Optimal Decision-Making System for Rehabilitation of Water Distribution Systems Divided by small Division (상수관망의 구역별 최적개량 의사결정 시스템의 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an optimal, long-term planning model for improvement of water distribution networks. The water distribution system is divided into sub-zones and the decision of improvement plan is made for each sub-zone. Costs for replacement, rehabilitation and repair, benefits including reduced pumping and leakage costs, and hydraulic reliability are considered to make optimal decision for improvement planning of water network. Harmony search algorithm is applied to optimize the system and hydraulic analysis model EPANET is interfaced with the optimal decision model to check the hydraulic reliability, The developed model is applied to actual water distribution system in Daegu-city, South Korea. The new model which use durability, conveyance and cost as a decision variable is different from existing methods which use only burying period and pipe type and can be used as optimal decision making system for water distribution network.

  • This paper proposes an advanced suspension system and reports its performance in the framework of the preview control algorithm based on the RPS (road profile sensing) system and MSD system with the multi-stage damping characteristics. Typical disturbance inputs that cause excessive vibration and steering instability of an automobile are irregular obstacles that protrude or sink into the road surface to be driven. The control performance can be improved if information on the existence and shape function of its obstacle is known. Based on the results of the previous study, advanced research that uses the actuating system has been processed to be commercialized practically. For this purpose, a switching algorithm between the control logic and the multi-stage damping system was developed and its connectivity is presented. To verify the applicability of an actual vehicle, the proposed control system was implemented in full vehicle models and simulations were performed. The proposed system using the 3-DS actuator system, which is applied for structural simplicity, can improve the ride comfort and steering stability. In addition, the results indicate the feasibility of the intelligently controlled suspension system.

  • 현재까지 우리나라에서 주로 사용되고 있는 2차원 흐름 해석 모형은 미연방 도로국(U.S. Federal Highway Administration)과 연계하여 Brigham Young University에서 개발된 SMS(Surface-Water Modeling System)모형이다. SMS모형 중 이송 확산 모형으로는 RMA-4가 포함되나 이 모형은 최신 수치기법을 반영하지 못하는 등의 문제점들로 인해 실제 물리적 현상을 모의에 있어서 한계를 가지고 있다. 따라서 물리적 현상에 대한 적절한 모의를 위해 여러 개선과정을 거쳐 RAM4가 개발되었다. 본 연구를 위해 점적분 유사량 측정기(P-61)와 대하천 유속계를 사용하여 대상구간의 SS자료 및 유속의 2차원적 분포를 취득하였고, SMS의 Pre-processing 기능을 이용하여 유한요소망을 구성하였다. 구성된 유한요소망과 흐름모형인 RMA-2를 사용하여 대상구간의 유속장을 모의하였다. 이때 모의된 유속장과 현장에서 취득한 유속분포를 비교하여 RMA-2를 검증하였고, SS자료와 RAM4로 모의된 농도장을 비교하여 RAM4를 검증하였다. 검증된 두 모형을 바탕으로 대상 구간에서 다량의 점오염원이 투입되는 가상의 시나리오를 선정 및 적용하여 오염물 이송 및 확산 거동에 대해 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 대상 하천은 형산강으로써, 유역 내에 경주시와 포항시가 위치하고 이 두 도시를 잇는 산업도로가 형산강 본류 위를 지나고, 또한 두 도시를 관류하고 있어 다른 국가하천과 마찬가지로 지속적이고 안정적인 수질관리가 필요한 하천이다, 모의구간은 형산강 본류 중 No. 68(안강 수위관측소 상류 약 350 m)에서 No. 48(부조 수위관측소 하류 약 200 m)까지로서, 약 4.3 km 구간을 모의 하였다. 모의구간 시점에서 약 0.35 km 지점에 산업도로의 일부분인 강동대교, 0.98 km 지점에 왕신천 유입, 1.35 km 지점에 수중보, 1.8 km 지점에 국당1교, 3.2 km 지점에 국당2교가 위치하며 구간 내에는 만곡 및 사행, 특히 수중보 전 후로 사주가 발달해있어 2차원 흐름 및 이송확산 모의에 적합하다고 판단되었다.

Trend of sound quality development in vehicles (자동차 음질 개발 동향)

  • 자동차에서 실내음질은 구매결정 요소들 중의 하나로 그 중요성이 점차 증가하고 있다. 따라서 다양한 운전조건에서 운전자가 기대하는 실내음질의 기대 수준을 충족시켜야 한다. 소비자는 운전경험과 습관에 따라 기대하는 음질에 차이가 있고 소리에 대한 표현방식도 모호하기 때문에 이러한 주관적 특성을 하나의 통일된 표현으로 정의 하기가 어렵다. 그러나 지난 이십여 년 동안의 음질개발과 차량 실내소음 주관평가의 통계처리로 통일된 표현을 할 수 있었다. 나아가 심리음향학 및 신호처리기술의 발달과 꾸준한 음질연구결과로 소리특성을 객관적으로 나타내는 소리의 시각화가 가능하였으며, 운전자가 인식하는 주관평가와의 상관관계를 높여 차량의 대표적인 음질인자로 정량화하여 음질목표를 설정할 수 있었다. 실내소음의 구성은 엔진 투과음, 흡배기 소음, 바람 소음, 도로 기인 소음 등으로 다양하므로 소음원에 따라 음의 균형을 맞추어 조화로운 음질개발을 하는 것이 중요했다. 또한 차량 판매되는 지역에 따라 선호음이 상이하여 지역별 실내음질의 차별화가 필요했다. 궁극적으로는 운전자의 감성품질을 만족할 수 있도록 음을 제어하여 브랜드 사운드를 개발하고 있다. 이러한 실내음질을 달성하기 위한 방법으로 소음원과 전달경로에 대해 기여도를 분석하고, 경로를 구성하는 시스템 별로 세분화하여 시스템 목표를 설정하였다. 시스템 개발에 중요한 인자로 차량의 동강성 및 흡차음 성능을 들 수 있다. 특히 디젤차량의 비중이 큰 유럽업체의 차량의 동강성 및 흡차음 개발 능력은 높게 평가되고 있다. 이에 유럽의 부품전문회사가 가지고 있는 해석과 시험적인 개발 방법을 통하여 전달계 특성을 만족하기 위한 시스템의 동강성 및 흡차음 특성을 개발하고 있다. 차량음질 튜닝의 중요한 기법 중 하나로 흡배기 개발을 추진하고 있다. 친환경자동차인 하이브리드차량, 전기차량 및 연료전지차량의 경우 전기구동부품에서 발생하는 각종 이음 발생을 최소화 했다. 보행자를 보호하고 운전의 즐거움을 향상하기 위한 가상사운드 개발을 진행하고 있다. 회사 수익성 향상을 위한 원가절감 및 구조 경량화에 따른 음질악화와 연비 향상 및 배기가스 규제 강화로 고성능 고출력 엔진탑재에 따른 음질악화 요인을 극복해야 했다. 운전자의 청감은 차량의 운전성에 따라서도 크게 영향을 받게 되므로 엔진제어와 변속기제어를 통해 음질과 운전성이 조화를 이룰 수 있도록 개발하고 있다. 향후, 소음원에 따른 시스템 최적화 개발, 운전성과 음질 연계 개발과 친환경차량의 가상사운드 개발 등이 자동차 음질 개발의 중요한 이슈로 생각한다.

  • Equity-indexed annuities(EIAs) provide their customers with the greater of either the return linked to the underlying index or the minimum guaranteed return. Insurance companies have developed EIAs to attract customers reluctant to buy traditional fixed annuities because of low returns and also reluctant to buy mutual funds for fear of the high volatility in the stock market. This paper proposes a new type of EIA embedded with an outside barrier option with flexible monitoring period in order to increase its participation rate. It also derives an explicit pricing formula for this proposed product, and discusses numerical examples to show relationships among participation rate, barrier level, index volatility and correlation.

COUPLED ANALYSIS OF INJECTION MOLDING AND FILM FORMING FOR IDENTIFYING FILM DEFORMATION IN IMD PROCESS (IMD 공정 중 필름 변형 특성 파악을 위한 사출 및 필름성형 간 연계해석)

  • In various manufacturing industries, an in-mold decoration (IMD) process for plastic objects is widely utilized because a film forming and an injection molding processes run simultaneously. In the present study, the deformation of polymer film and filling of resin in the IMD process were numerically investigated to evaluate the quality of the plastic object formed by the IMD process, which consists of thermoforming and injection molding processes. To obtain the initial shape of the polymer film during the injection molding process, the deformation of the polymer film in the thermoforming process was pre-formed using the vacuum conditions to attach the film to a cavity. Since the properties and deformation of polymer film are greatly affected by the behavior of polymer resin being injected into a mold cavity, numerical simulations for the injection molding and film forming were performed with one-way coupling method. The results showed that the injected resin could lead to the tearing of the polymer film in local regions near the corners. In order to verify the proposed numerical methodology, the numerical results of the deformation patterns printed on the initial polymer film were compared with the experimental data. The proposed methodology to couple film forming analysis with injection molding analysis can be used to predict the deformation of film in IMD process.

Basic Study on Diffusion Branch of Tribrachial Flame with the Variation of Flammability Limits and Heat Loss Under Small Fuel Concentration Gradient (미소 농도구배 조건에서 열손실 및 가연한계가 삼지화염의 확산화염에 미치는 영향에 대한 기초 연구)

  • The tribrachial flame has attracted interest as a basic structure of the flame edge. This flame structure helps understand stabilization of laminar flames and re-ignition of turbulent flames. A number of analytical and experimental studies have been carried out on the tribrachial flame. However, the effect of the variation of the flammability limits on the structure of the tribrachial flame has not been studied in detail. In this study, the effect of non-symmetric flammability limits on the flame structure was investigated by adopting a simple numerical scheme based on several laminar flame theories. A fixed velocity field was considered and boundary matching algorithm was used on the premixed branch. The variation of the diffusion branches under the non-symmetric flammability limits and heat loss was investigated. The formation and extinction of the diffusion branch behind the premixed branch were successfully described. This basic study can help understand the fundamental structure of the flame and can form the basis of subsequent detailed studies.

Web-Based Data Processing and Model Linkage Techniques for Agricultural Water-Resource Analysis (농촌유역 물순환 해석을 위한 웹기반 자료 전처리 및 모형 연계 기법 개발)

  • Establishment of appropriate data in certain formats is essential for agricultural water cycle analysis, which involves complex interactions and uncertainties such as climate change, social & economic change, and watershed environmental change. The main objective of this study was to develop web-based Data processing and Model linkage Techniques for Agricultural Water-Resource analysis (AWR-DMT). The developed techniques consisted of database development, data processing technique, and model linkage technique. The watershed of this study was the upper Cheongmi stream and Geunsam-Ri. The database was constructed using MS SQL with data code, watershed characteristics, reservoir information, weather station information, meteorological data, processed data, hydrological data, and paddy field information. The AWR-DMT was developed using Python. Processing technique generated probable rainfall data using non-stationary frequency analysis and evapotranspiration data. Model linkage technique built input data for agricultural watershed models, such as the TANK and Agricultural Watershed Supply (AWS). This study might be considered to contribute to the development of intelligent watercycle analysis by developing data processing and model linkage techniques for agricultural water-resource analysis.

  • Direct acting pressure relief valve applicable to propellant tank of launch vehicle is modeled in this study The flow resistance of the partially opened valve is modeled as a function of the distance of the valve stem from the resting position. The position of the valve varies transiently as a function of its mass, the spring force, sliding friction, and the pressure differential. Choking at valve throat and compressibility are considered for the analysis. This study presents systematic analysis method for pressure relief valve applicable to propellant tank of liquid rocket. The results shows transient flow resistance caused by stem motion and the importance of choking at valve throat for pressure relief valve design.

A Development of Summer Seasonal Rainfall and Extreme Rainfall Outlook Using Bayesian Beta Model and Climate Information (기상인자 및 Bayesian Beta 모형을 이용한 여름철 계절강수량 및 지속시간별 극치 강수량 전망 기법 개발)

  • In this study, we developed a hybrid forecasting model based on a four-parameter distribution which allows a simultaneous season-ahead forecasting for both seasonal rainfall and sub-daily rainfall in Han-River and Geum-River basins. The proposed model is mainly utilized a set of time-varying predictors and the associated model parameters were estimated within a Bayesian nonstationary rainfall frequency framework. The hybrid forecasting model was validated through an cross-validatory experiment using the recent rainfall events during 2014~2017 in both basins. The seasonal precipitation results showed a good agreement with the observations, which is about 86.3% and 98.9% in Han-River basin and Geum-River basin, respectively. Similarly, for the extreme rainfalls at sub-daily scale, the results showed a good correspondence between the observed and simulated rainfalls with a range of 65.9~99.7%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the proposed model could be used to better consider climate variability at multiple time scales.
