  • At a dermatology during the skin care, photodynamic therapy(PDT) is carried after 5-aminolevulinic acid(ALA), light sensitive material, is applied. At a skin care shop, using drug is prohibited. Thus, the aim of this research was to see the effect of the acne skin by irradiating PDT to the skin without applying ALA. The research method was that 24 female undergraduates who had acne on their face at the level of mild or comedonal, and the participants were divided into four groups(group1: no treatment, group 2: 420 nm of blue visible light, group 3: 660 nm of red visible light and group 4: blue and red visible light). The participants of group 2, 3 and 4 were irradiated with visible light for 20 minutes per week for 6 weeks, and they were compared to group 1. As a result of the research, the number of erythema, sebum, papules and pustules of those who were irradiated with visible light decreased, and the pore size of those also decreased while the amount of moisture increased. If an skin care shop applies PDT to the existing acne skin care, that PDT will influence on the program of a skin care shop is expected.

  • Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease related to pilosebaceous unit. In acne lesions, hyperseborrhea, dysseborrhea, inflammatory event, and an imbalance in skin microflora, particularly an increase in Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) colonization comparing to other bacteria, have been observed. The objective of this study was to evaluate anti-acne effects of Artemisia annua extract (AAE) on antibacterial activity related to preservation of the balance in skin microbiome, inhibition of inflammation, and reduction of excessive sebum production. When C. acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis) were co-cultured in the presence of AAE, the reduction of C. acnes growth by AAE was greater than that of S. epidermidis. In addition, when C. acnes was cultured in a medium containing AAE (C. acnes AAE), levels of cytokines such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and IL-6 and toll-like receptors-2 activity were decreased in comparison with C. acnes cultured in a medium without AAE (C. acnes CM). Moreover, AAE significantly inhibited excessive sebum production induced by palmitic acid. These results suggest that AAE, as a natural extract with various targets, can inhibit selective growth of C. acnes and inflammatory reactions derived from C. acnes, which are the main causes of acne, and consequently can be used as a substance to alleviate acne by reducing excessive sebum formation.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the acne care improvement effects of natural cosmetics with distilled bamboo vinegar contents and develop the materials for acne cosmetics. For the research subjects, 20 teenage boys and girls were selected and based on random number table, 10 subjects were assigned in the control group that used natural cosmetics (foam cleanser, toner, facial pack) and 10 subjects were assigned in the experimental group that used natural cosmetics with distilled bamboo vinegar contents (foam cleanser, toner, facial pack). The natural cosmetics was used for 12 weeks, and Mark-·Vu facial analysis system was used to measure the sebum, pore size, and redness before using the natural cosmetics, 6 weeks after using the natural cosmetics, and 12 weeks after using the natural cosmetics. For the collected data, SPSS v. 21.0 statistics package program was used for the analysis, and the results are as follows. First, it is a safe natural cosmetics based on the results of the patch test to confirm the skin safety of the natural cosmetics. Second, homogeneity was secured based on the results of the test of homogeneity for the sebum, pore size, and redness of the control group and experimental group. Third, in the verification of acne skin improvement effects of natural cosmetics with distilled bamboo vinegar content, the experimental group had higher reduction rate of changes in the sebum, pore size, and redness on the forehead and right cheek compared to the control group. Therefore, it was identified that the natural cosmetics with distilled bamboo liquid content is safe for the skin and effective for reducing the sebum, pore size, and redness for acne skin. For this reason, it is anticipated for distilled bamboo vinegar to be used in the cosmetics industry.

  • By studying bioactivity in the aspect of skin care via curcumin, the main component of turmeric, and isoflavones, the soybean extract, this research tried to prove the possibilities as cosmetic ingredients. This research identified the curcumin and soybean extract's anti-inflammatory and toxic effects on skin cells through cell experiment, and using HPLC, the moisture, oiliness, and changes in erythema were measured when the soybean extract was applied to the skin. The result showed that curcumin had the least toxin on RAW 264.7 cell and the anti-inflammatory effect was identified. There were statistically significant changes on the moisture, oiliness and erythema when cosmetics containing curcumin and soybean extract were used. Therefore, it showed the possibilities of the utilization of curcumin and soybean extract to be used as cosmetics for acne skin.

  • In this study, plant extracts including Eucommia ulmoides Oliv. and Phellodendron amurense were studied to test possible application for cosmetics and skin related medicine. Anti-oxidation effect of plant extracts was measured by DPPH free radical scavenging activity and it was insignificant at low concentration, however, it was as good as vitamin C, excellent anti-oxidation agent, at $1000{\mu}g/ml$. Anti-bacterial effect was tested by disc diffusion method, and plant extracts showed mild anti-bacterial effect for normal skin flora, Staphylococcus epidermidis while it indicated strong anti-bacterial effect for acne inducing Propionibacterium acne. Therefore it had powerful potential for anti-acne material because of selectivity. Anti-atopic dermatitis effect was tested by hairless mouse and plant extracts recovered damaged skin to near normal condition after 14 days of treatment. IgE concentration in treated mouse was decreased 16% compared with control. From the research, plant extracts indicated strong anti-acne and anti-atopic dermatitis effect, and showed strong potential for cosmetics and skin related medicine.

  • The limitations of applying a variety of artificial intelligence to the medical community are, first, subjective views, extensive interpreters and physical fatigue in interpreting the image of an interpreter's illness. And there are questions about how long it takes to collect annotated data sets for each illness and whether to get sufficient training data without compromising the performance of the developed deep learning algorithm. In this paper, when collecting basic images based on acne data sets, the selection criteria and collection procedures are described, and a model is proposed to classify data into small loss rates (5.46%) and high accuracy (96.26%) in the sequential structure. The performance of the proposed model is compared and verified through a comparative experiment with the model provided by Keras. Similar phenomena are expected to be applied to the field of medical and skin care by applying them to the acne classification model proposed in this paper in the future.

  • Broccoli has a functional substance, sulforaphane that has effects of anticancer, antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. Sulforaphane, one of the hydrolysis products of glucoraphanin in broccoli, cabbage and kale, was contributed to the role of antioxidant. Broccoli contains a number of bioactive compounds including glucosinolates, S-methyl cysteine sulfoxide and many antioxidants. The ethanol extract (BE), hexane extract (BH), propylene glycol extract (BP) and butylenesglycol extract (BB) of broccoli were used to investigate the antioxidation and anti-inflammatory effects of sulforaphane extracts from broccoli. The high scavenging abilities of DPPH, $O_2{^-}$ were observed. Also sulforaphane extracts from broccoli showed the inhibition effect on NO rate. These results demonstrated that sulforaphane extracts from broccoli could be useful as an antioxidation and anti-inflammatory functional ingredient.
