A Cost Model of Filtering and Refinement Steps for Estimating the Performance of Two-Step Index Structure (이단계 색인 구조의 성능을 예측하기 위한 여과 및 정제 단계 비용모델)

  • 본 논문에서는 공간 색인 구조의 예측할 수 있는 비용 모델을 제안한다. 연구의 주된 내용은 정제 단계의 분석이다. 즉, 이 분야에서 기존의 연구들과는 달리 여과 단계 뿐만 아니라 정제 단계의 성능을 예측할 수 있는 해석적인 모델을 제안한다. 제안된 비용 모델은 이단계 색인 구조에 대하여 중점적으로 연구하였는데, 이 비용 모델은 기존의 다른 공간 색인 구조에도 적용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제안된 비용 모델은 실험 분석을 통해 정확하다는 것을 보인다. 상대적인 오차는 이론적인 예측치를 실제적인 실험 결과와 비교할 때 15% 이내이다. 이 비용 모델은 복잡한 공간 질의의 비용을 평가하는 공간 질의 최적화기에서 유용한 도구로써 사용될 수 있다.

지하투과레이다(GPR)를 활용한 천부 충적 대수층 퇴적상 연구

  • 효과적인 국내 충적층 지하수의 이용을 위해서는, 충적 대수층의 내부 구조를 정밀하게 평가하여야 한다. 특히, 강변여과, 인공 침투지 등의 적극적인 충적 대수층의 활용을 위해서는 충적 대수층의 퇴적 환경에 대한 이해가 요구된다. 국내 충적층의 대부분은 하천 둔치 주변에서 하도의 수평 이동에 의해 형성된 경사 지층으로, 니질 박층이 협재하므로 내부의 분균일성에 의해 인접한 취수 공간에도 지하수체의 이동 특성 및 화학적 특성이 달라질 수 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 불균질성을 박히기 위해 지하투과레이다(GPR)를 이용하여 부여 군수리 지역의 천부 충적층에 대한 퇴적학적 분석을 시도하였다. 군수리 지역은 크게 상하 두 개의 충적층으로 구분되며, 상부 수평층은 범람에 의해 형성된 것으로 수직 불균질성이 크고 수평 불균질성은 낮다. 하부 경사층은 수평, 수직 불균질성이 모두 크다. 특히 하부 경사층내에 발달한 하도곡은 인접한 충적층과 분리되어 이 층내의 지하수체 이동은 제한적일 것이고 수질 특성 또한 크게 다를 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구는 충적 대수층에 대한 물리 화학적 특성의 정확한 해석을 위해서 퇴적학적 해석이 선행되어야 함을 시사한다.

Improvement of Efficiency in Surface Washing of Granular Filters (여과지 표면역세척 공정의 효율개선)

  • Backwashing is an important process for the efficient operation of granular filters, and the efficiency of the surface washing among the backwashing processes can affect the filtrations rate and filter run-time. In this study, the efficiency of surface washing is evaluated using real filters for three cases: with surface washing (with and without drainage of water to the surface of filter bed) and without surface washing. As a result, in the case of adopting both the drainage and surface washing, the filter of which condition is initially worse than those of the other filters shows improvement in head-loss development, filtration velocity, filter run-time, and total filtration volume. On the other hand, the conventional method of surface washing rarely has an effect on the filter washing.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the variations of headloss rate and of specific deposit to depths with effective size of media and configuration of filter layer during algae blooming period. 0.51mm size media was disqualified because most of headloss occurred rapidly below 5cm from surface layer however 0.91mm size media acted deep filtration more than 20cm from top, as result 0.91mm sixte media filter had 2~3 times longer filtration time than 0.51mm sixte media filter, but 0.91mm size media have break-through potentiality. multi-layer filter with 1.02mm anthracite and 0.51mm sand had large deposit volume in upper layer that could longer filtration time, moreover smaller media in lower layer that could protect break-through.

  • 최근 하천에서 취수원을 개발하는 방법 중 수질 측면에서 2차 비용을 저감할 수 있는 간접 취수원에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 상수원수 및 하천유지용수 등의 취수원을 개발하는데 있어서 강변여과수 개발, 하상여과수 개발, 복류수 개발 등을 적용하여 도입하고 있으나 수량 확보의 불확실성, 유지관리상의 어려움으로 인해 많은 시행착오를 겪고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 저심도 간접취수의 안정적인 수량 및 수질 확보를 위해 심도 10m 이내의 제외지 또는 하상을 개착하여 새롭게 고안된 기능성 스크린을 설치하려고 한다. 기존의 간접취수에 비해 안정적이고 지속가능한 수량 확보 및 유지관리에서 유리한 공법을 적용하기 위해 정량적 분석이 가능한 모형실험을 통해 효과 분석을 진행한다.

Determination of the Groundwater Yield of horizontal wells using an artificial neural network model incorporating riverside groundwater level data (배후지 지하수위를 고려한 인공신경망 기반의 수평정별 취수량 결정 기법)

  • Recently, concern has arisen regarding the lowering of groundwater levels in the hinterland caused by the development of high-capacity radial collector wells in riverbank filtration areas. In this study, groundwater levels are estimated using Modflow software in relation to the water volume pumped by the radial collector well in Anseongcheon Stream. Using the water volume data, an artificial neural network (ANN) model is developed to determine the amount of water that can be withdrawn while minimizing the reduction of groundwater level. We estimate that increasing the pumping rate of the horizontal well HW-6, which is drilled parallel to the stream direction, is necessary to minimize the reduction of groundwater levels in wells OW-7 and OB-11. We also note that the number of input data and the classification of training and test data affect the results of the ANN model. This type of approach, which supplements ANN modeling with observed data, should contribute to the future groundwater management of hinterland areas.

Selection of Tissue Papers for Nematode Extraction from Soil in Combined Screening-funnel Method (토양선충분리(土壤線蟲分離)를 위(爲)한 여과지(濾過紙) 선발(選拔)에 관(關)하여)

  • This study was undertaken to select a suitable Korean tissue paper for Baermann funnel method. Ten kinds of five manufacturers were evaluated as to nematode extraction efficiency in Baermann funnel. 'Crown Hankie'(Korea Special Paper Co., Ltd.) had suitable properties in nematode permeability and strength regardless of three soil types, loamy sand, sandy loam and clay loam. The number of nematodes extracted using 'Crown Hankie' 4 ply was 198, while that of 'Cottonwool Nematode Filter' was 227. Un-perfumed tissue papers showed higher nematode extraction efficiencies than perfumed tissue papers by 53 and 23% in 'Kleenex New Softness' and 'Monaliza Finely Soft Tissue', respectively. Among the nematode extraction efficiencies by temperatures, $15^{\circ},\;25^{\circ}\;and\;35^{\circ}C$, it was highest at $35^{\circ}C$. In experiment of evaluating nematode extraction using Baermann funnel at 12 hours interval to 92 hours, 35.3 and 40.3% of nematodes were extracted after 12 and 24 hours, respectively.

A Study on Process Optimization for CSOs Application of Horizontal Flow Filtration Technology (수평흐름식 여과기술의 CSOs 적용을 위한 공정 최적화 연구)

  • The management of Combined Sewer Overflows(CSOs) and Separated Sewer Overflows(SSOs) discharge directly to the effluent system in an untreated state, which occurs when the facility capacity is exceeded due to heavy rain, has become an important issue in recent years as the heavy rain becomes a regular phenomenon. Despite the continuous development of filtration technology, targeting densely populated urban areas, CSOs are rarely applied. Therefore, this study was carried out to optimize the process to apply CSOs in a pilot-scale horizontal flow filtration system with a rope-type synthetic fiber. The research was carried out in two steps: a preliminary study using artificial samples and a field study using sewage. In the preliminary study using an artificial sample, head loss of the filter media itself was analyzed to be approximately 1.1cm, and the head loss was increased by approximately 0.1cm as the linear velocity was increased by 10m/hr. In addition, the SS removal efficiency was stable at 81.4%, the filtration duration was maintained for more than 6 hours, and the average recovery rate of 98% was obtained by air backwashing only. In the on-site evaluation using sewage, the filtration duration was approximately 2 hours and the average removal efficiency of 83.9% was obtained when belt screen (over 450 mesh) was applied as a pre-treatment process to prevent the premature clogging of filter media. To apply the filtration process to CSOs and SSOs, it was concluded that the combination with the pre-treatment process was important to reinforce the hydraulic dimension for the stable maintain of operation period, rather than efficiency. Compared to the dry season, the quality of incoming sewage was lower in the rainy season, which was attributed to the characteristics of the drainage area with higher sanitary sewerage. In addition, the difference in removal efficiency according to the influent quality of the wet season and dry season was small.

Evaluation to Purification Capacity of Pollutants by Column Test with the tidal flat sediment (통수실험에 의한 갯벌의 오염물질 정화능력 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the purification capacity of pollutants by column test with the tidal flat sediment. Sediment materials were taken from Chunjangdae tidal flat which located in Chungnam Seochungun. The column tests were conducted on four conditions(R1 : raw sewage filtered by G2 filter, R2 : sterilized sewage after filtered by GF/C filter, R3 : R2 /filtered(membrane) seawater (1:1), R4 : R2 /filtered(membrane) seawater(1:2)). The results of this study may be summarized as followed ; The removed COD by column tests were increased according to increasing the quantity of sewage. During the column tests of 580min, the total removed ammonia nitrogen were 90.1mg for R1, 81.0mg for R2, 27.6mg for R3 and 4.1mg for R4. The result was similar to COD experiment. During the 580min, the total removed total-phosphates were 3.4mg for R1, 4.2mg for R2, 5.6mg for R3 and 2.0mg for R4. The removal efficiency of Pb and Cd for R3 and R4 reactor were higher than R1 and R2 reactor. The remove of heavy metal by the column test was high in sample with seawater. But in the initial 20min, the adsorbed Pb and Cd showed about 3% of the total adsorbed Pb and Cd during 580min.

Reduction of Hexavalent Chromium on PVC Filters (혜산산업보건학술상 수상논문 - PVC 여과지에 채취된 6가 크롬의 환원)

  • Chromium exists at various valences, including elemental, trivalent, and hexavalent chromium, and undergoes reduction-oxidation reactions in the environment. Since hexavalent chromium is known as a human carcinogen, it is most important to evaluate the oxidationreduction characteristics of the hexavalent chromium species. Although hexavalent chromium can be reduced to trivalent state, the detailed information on this in workplace environments is limited. The purpose of this study was to investigate hexavalent chromium reduction in time in various conditions. A pilot chrome plating operation was prepared and operated in a laboratory for this study. There was evidence that the hexavalent chromium was reduced by time after mist generation. The percentage ratio (with 95% confidence intervals in parentheses) of hexavalent chromium to total chromium was almost 100% (99.1 ; 102.3) immediately after mist generation, and was reduced to 87.4% (84.8 ; 89.9) at 1 hour and 81.0% (78.3 ; 83.5) at 2 hours, respectively. Another test indicated that hexavalent chromium collected on PVC filters was also reduced by time after sampling. Hexavalent chromium was reduced to 90.8% (88.2 ; 93.3) at 2 hours after sampling. It also was found that hexavalent chromium was reduced during storage in air. It is recommended that air samples of hexavalent chromium be protected against reduction during storage.
