  • Recently, researches on the application of IT technology to various fields including traditional industries are becoming more popular. One challenge in the field of education is to understand the way how technology may support learning, and research on self-directed learning has been accelerated by integrating education and IT technology. The process of self-directed learning in e-learning applications such as Car Maintenance Training is very difficult and complicated. Previous studies on car maintenance training applications provided simple training scenarios with predetermined action sequences. To incorporate self-directed learning in car maintenance training, however, trainees must be able to perform various maintenance operations himself and experience various situations. To provide such functionality, it is necessary to obtain an accurate response for various operations of trainees, but it requires complicated calculations with respect to varieties in the electrical and mechanical processes of a car. In this paper, we develop a logic simulation agent using JESS inference engine in which self-directed learning is achieved by capturing the behavior of trainees and simulating car operations without complicated physical simulations in car maintenance training.

A Study on Real Time Fault Diagnosis and Health Estimation of Turbojet Engine through Gas Path Analysis (가스경로해석을 통한 터보제트엔진의 실시간 고장 진단 및 건전성 추정에 관한 연구)

  • A study is performed for the real time fault diagnosis during operation and health estimation relating to performance deterioration in a turbojet engine used for an unmanned air vehicle. For this study the real time dynamic model is derived from the transient thermodynamic gas path analysis. For real fault conditions which are manipulated for the simulation, the detection techniques are applied such as Kalman filter and probabilistic decision-making approach based on statistical hypothesis test. Thereby the effectiveness is verified by showing good fault detection and isolation performances. For the health estimation with measurement parameters, it shows using an assumed performance degradation that the method by adaptive Kalman filter is feasible in practice for a condition based diagnosis and maintenance.

  • The failure frequency of the Emergency Diesel Generator(EDG) at Nuclear Power Plants(NPPs) is not so much lower than that of the Marine engines, whereas the running hours of the diesel engine at NPPs is much less than those of the engines for commercial service. The primary factor results from the severe surveillance test requirements such as fast start, large number of starting test, fast load-run, high load running, etc. The other factor comes from the excessive maintenance based on the engine maker's instruction manual that did not incorporate the peculiar characteristics of the diesel engines at NPPs. In this paper, the present preventive maintenance program on the basis of the Pielstick diesel engines was reviewed for the purpose of securing the reliability of the emergency diesel generator at NPPs and the ways for its improvement were presented by referring to the overseas cases for their applications.

  • 본 논문에서는 진단시스템의 추론성능을 향상시키기 위한 방법으로서, 사례 기반 추론을 통해서 규칙 기반 추론의 단점을 보완하여 성능을 향상시키는 혼합형 추론 모델을 제안한다. 본 모델의 특징은 규칙 기반 추론의 확장성 문제와 규칙화 할 수 없는 예외적인 상황에 대한 문제점을 사례 기반 추론에서 사례로 저장하여 규칙 기반 추론의 단점을 보완하는데 있다. 이런 두 모델의 문제점을 해결하는 과정은 첫째로, 문제에 따라 규칙기반추론 모듈의 베이스를 통해서 적절한 규칙을 적용 후 추론을 적용하여 근접한 해를 얻어낸다. 두 번째로, 규칙베이스에 저장되어 있지 않은 문제에 대해서는 사례 라이브러리를 검색하고 유사성 검사를 통해서 저장된 사례를 찾아 입력된 사례에 적용하여 문제를 해결한다. 셋째로, 해결된 문제에 대해서 수정작업을 통해 사례 라이브러리를 확장한다. 이와 같이 세 과정을 통해 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법론의 성과를 측정하기 위하여 정비 메뉴얼을 규칙화하여 규칙베이스를 구축하였고 전문가들의 경험적인 지식에 대해서는 사례라이브러리로 구축하였다. 또한 지식베이스를 통해서 진단을 수행하고 해결된 문제에 대해서 정확도 검사를 통해 진단의 정확성을 측정하여 혼합형추론엔진의 성능을 검증하였다.

  • 현재 자동차 검사 또는 정비 현장에서는 특정 삼원촉매변환기가 요구 내구 수명을 제대로 만족시키지 못하여 파손되는 사례가 발생되고 있다. 이러한 삼원촉매장치의 경우 배기가스 변환 효율이나 압력강하 등은 엔진 효율 측면에서 만족되지만 열적 내구성은 만족되지 못한다. 본 연구에서는 열유동 해석 및 구조 해석을 통하여 국내 승용차용 삼원촉매 변환기의 대한 열적 안전성에 대하여 검토하였다.

  • 인류문명사는 미지의 새로운 세계를 개척하고 신기술과 지식을 창조하기 위한 끊임없는 도전의 역사이다. 그 과정에서 남보다 먼저 신대륙을 선점하고 선진기술을 개발한 집단이 세계를 재패해 왔다. 오늘날 지구상에는 탐험할 만한 미지의 대륙이 거의 사라졌다. 하지만 지난 10여년 동안 인류는 컴퓨터와 인터넷에 사이버공간이라는 ‘보이지 않는 대륙(Invisible Continent)’을 창조하고, 그 곳에 인류가 그 동안 창조한 모든 정보와 지식 그리고 기술과 제품들을 차곡차곡 쌓아가고 있다. 특히 최근에는 정보기술의 급속한 발달에 힘입어, 정보기술 선진국들과 일부 다국적 정보통신 기업들은 한 단계 더 발전하여 현실공간과 사이버공간을 융합한 ‘사이버국토’ 또는 ‘사이버도시’, 나아가 ‘사이버지구촌’ 건설에 투자를 확대하고 있다. 사이버국토는 현실국토공간을 사이버공간에 그대로 반영하여 최적융합함으로써, 사이버공간에서 시간·공간·인간 즉 삼간(삼간)을 통합하고, 기존의 모든 디지털활동을 수용하며, 시뮬레이션이 가능한 제2의 국토건설을 지향하고 있다. 또한 사이버국토 건설의 경험과 기술을 바탕으로 향후 전개될 사이버지구촌시대를 선도하고, 건설 과정에서 얻게되는 통합정보기술의 선점을 통해 세계 정상의 정보기술 강국으로 도약하는데 목표를 두고 있다. 이러한 사이버국토를 구축하기 위해서는 관련법률과 제도를 정비하고, 관련기술과 산업을 국가발전의 핵심 엔진으로 육성하며, 대국민 흥보와 관계자 교육을 강화하는 전략이 필요하다.

A Survey on the Break-down and Repair of the Power Tillers in Korea (동력경운기(動力耕耘機) 이용실태(利用實態) 조사분석(調査分析)(II) -고장(故障) 및 수리(修理)에 관(關)하여-)

  • A survey has been conducted to investigate the presents of breaks down and repair of power tiller for efficient use. Eight provinces were covered for this study. The results are summarized as follows. A. Frequency of breaks down. 1) Power tiller was breaken down 9.05 times a year and it represents a break down every 39.1 hours of use. High frequency of breaks down was found from the fuel and ignition system. For only these system, the number of breaks down were 2.02 and it represents 23.3% among total breaks down. It was followed by attachments, cylinder system, and traction device. 2) For the power tiller which was more than six years old, breaks down accured 37.7 hours of use and every 38.6 hours for the power tiller which was purchased in less than 2 years. 3) For the kerosene engine power tiller, breaks down occured every 36.8 hours of use, which is a higher value compared with diesel engine power tiller which break down every 42.8 hours of use. The 8HP kerosene engine power tiller showed higher frequency of break down compared with any other horse power tiller. 4) In October, the lowest frequency of break down was found with the value of once for every 51.5 hours of use, and it was followed by the frequency of break down in June. The more hours of use, the less breaks down was found. E. Repair place 1) 45.3% among total breaks down of power tiller was repaired by the owner, and 54.7% was repaired at repair shop. More power tiller were repaired at repair shop than by owner of power tiller. 2) The older the power tiller is, the higher percentage of repairing at the repair shop was found compared with the repairing by the owner. 3) Higher percentage of repairing by the owner was found for the diesel engine power tiller compared with the kerosene engine power tiller. It was 10 HP power tiller for the kerosene power tiller and 8 HP for the diesel engine power tiller. 4) 66.7% among total breaks down of steering device was repaired by the owner. It was the highest value compared with the percentage of repairing of any other parts of power tiller. The lowest percentage of repairing by owner was found for the attachments to the power tiller with the value of 26.5%. C. Cause of break down 1) Among the total breaks down of power tiller, 57.2% is caused by the old parts of power tiller with the value of 5.18 times break down a year and 34.7% was caused by the poor maintenance and over loading. 2) For the power tiller which was purchased in less than two years, more breaks down were caused by poor maintenance in comparison to the old parts of power tiller. 3) For the both 8-10 HP kerosene and diesel engine power tiller, the aspects of breaks down was almost the same. But for the 5 HP power tiller, more breaks down was caused by over loading in comparison to the old parts of power tiller. 4) For the cylinder system and traction device, most of the breaks down was caused by the old parts and for the fuel and ignition system, breaks down was caused mainly by the poor maintenance. D. Repair Cost 1) For each power tiller, repair cost was 34,509 won a year and it was 97 won for one hoar operation. 2) Repair cost of kerosene engine power tiller was 40,697 won a year, and it use 28,320 won for a diesel engine power tiller. 3) Average repair cost for one hour operation of kerosene engine power tiller was 103 won, and 86 won for a diesel engine power tiller. No differences were found between the horse power of engines. 4) Annual repair cost of cylinder system was 13,036 won which is the highest one compared with the repair cost of any other parts 362 won a year was required to repair the steering device, and it was the least among repair cost of parts. 5) Average cost for repairing the power tiller one time was 3,183 won. It was 10,598 won for a cylinder system and 1,006 won for a steering device of power tiller. E. Time requirement for repairing by owner. 1) Average time requirements for repairing the break down of a power tiller by owner himself was 8.36 hours, power tiller could not be used for operation for 93.58 hours a year due to the break down. 2) 21.3 hours were required for repairing by owner himself the break down of a power tiller which was more than 6 years old. This value is the highest one compared with the repairing time of power tiller which were purchased in different years. Due to the break down of the power tiller, it could not be used for operation annually 127.13 hours. 3) 10.66 hours were required for repairing by the owner himself a break down of a diesel engine power tiller and 6.48 hours for kerosene engine power tiller could not be used annually 99.14 hours for operation due to the break down and it was 88.67 hour for the diesel engine power tiller. 4) For both diesel and kerosene engine power tiller 8 HP power tiller required the least time for repairing by owner himself a break down compared with any other horse power tiller. It was 2.78 hours for kerosene engine power tiller and 8.25 hours fur diesel engine power tiller. 5) For the cylinder system of power tiller 32.02 hours were required for repairing a break down by the owner himself. Power tiller could not be used 39.30 hours a year due to the break down of the cylinder system.

Development of Mobile Application for Cadastre Information Service (지적정보 서비스 모바일 애플리케이션 개발)

  • This study developed a mobile application system for serving cadastral information needed to propel diverse cadastral works including cadastral resurvey efficiently. First, BlackPoint-Xr was selected as a spatial client engine to embody the cadastral information system based on mobile device including smart phone and tablet PC. The mobile cadastral information system contains functions such as finding location with GPS based on spatial information such as aerial photo, cadastral map, administrative map, and digital map, parcel search with address and lot number, finding land register including land address, the classification of land, and land price. Especially, this study developed functions which can analyze the measurement of distance, area, slope and cross-section elevation of land to apply construction work and land maintenance project. This system can support efficiently cadastral work and construction project by serving diverse cadastral information to users in field and can be also applied to the field of digital cadastral information.

Design Technique for Durability Improvement of Military Vehicle Clutch System (군용차량 클러치 내구수명 향상에 대한 연구)

  • Military Vehicles of the Korean army had been developed before 2004 and used manual transmissions. Manual transmissions contain a clutch system regulating the force from engine to transmission. In this study, a 2.5-ton military vehicle's clutch system was investigated. The existing clutch system had the characteristics that need to adjust the clearance between the clutch cover and release bearing. Improper clearance led to early wear of the clutch disk and failure of the clutch cover. To solve these problems, an improved clutch system was suggested and tested. The improved clutch system contains auto adjustment of the clearance and an enhanced clutch disk. To verify the improved clutch systems, 2 stage tests were conducted: an accelerated life test of the clutch system, and a driving test by trainee of driving more than 3,000km. As a result, the problems caused by the improper clearance adjustment were solved and this design was verified.

Probabilistic Estimation of Thermal Fatigue Performance of Three-Way Catalyst Substrate (삼원 촉매 담체의 확률론적 열피로 성능 평가)

  • A three-way catalyst substrate for domestic passenger car satisfies the design criteria for exhaust gas exchange and pressure drop but does not have satisfactory thermal fatigue performance. Prefracture faults in this three-way catalyst substrate has often been discovered in vehicle repair or vehicle inspection facilities. This paper presents a thermal fatigue performance estimation method for a three-way catalyst substrate using a probabilistic strength reduction factor model. This method is superior to the thermal fatigue performance estimation method for a three-way catalyst substrate that uses a deterministic strength model.
