The accurate geo-referencing processes that apply ground control points is prerequisite for effective end use of HRSI (High-resolution satellite imagery). Since the conventional control point acquisition by human operator takes long time, demands for the automated matching to existing reference data has been increasing its popularity. Among many options of reference data, the airborne LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data shows high potential due to its high spatial resolution and vertical accuracy. Additionally, it is in the form of 3-dimensional point cloud free from the relief displacement. Recently, a new matching method between LiDAR data and HRSI was proposed that is based on the image projection of whole LiDAR data into HRSI domain, however, importing and processing the large amount of LiDAR data considered as time-consuming. Therefore, we wmotivated to ere propose a local LiDAR chip generation for the HRSI geo-referencing. In the procedure, a LiDAR point cloud was rasterized into an ortho image with the digital elevation model. After then, we selected local areas, which of containing meaningful amount of edge information to create LiDAR chips of small data size. We tested the LiDAR chips for fully-automated geo-referencing with Kompsat-2 and Kompsat-3 data. Finally, the experimental results showed one-pixel level of mean accuracy.
Accurate encoding of local patterns is a very important factor in texture classification. However, LBP based methods w idely studied have fundamental problems that are vulnerable to noise. Recently, LDP method using edge response and dire ction information was proposed in facial expression recognition. LDP is more robust to noise than LBP and can accommod ate more information in it's pattern code, but it has drawbacks that it is sensitive to rotation transforms that are critical to texture classification. In this paper, we propose a new local pattern coding method called Rotation Invariant Local Direc tional Pattern, which combines rotation-invariant transform to LDP. To prove the texture classification performance of the proposed method in this paper, texture classification was performed on the widely used UIUC and CUReT datasets. As a result, the proposed RILDP method showed better performance than the existing methods.

This study prepared fabric-heating elements of carbon nanofiber composite to characterize morphologies and electrical properties. Carbon nanofiber composite was prepared with 15wt% PVDF-HFP/acetone solution, and 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16wt% carbon nanofiber. Dispersion of solution was conducted with stirring for a week, sonification for 24 hours, and storage for a month, until coating. Carbon nanofiber composite coated fabrics were prepared by knife-edge coating on nylon fabrics with a thickness of 0.1mm. The morphologies of carbon nanofiber composite coated fabrics were measured by FE-SEM. Surface resistance was determined by KS K0555 and worksurface tester. A heating-pad clamping device connected to a variable AC/DC power supply was used for the electric heating characteristics of the samples and multi-layer fabrics. An infrared camera applied voltages to samples while maintaining a certain distance from fabric surfaces. The results of morphologies indicated that the CNF content increased specifically to the visibility and presence of carbon nanofiber. The surface resistance test results revealed that an increased CNF content improved the performance of coated fabrics. The results of electric heating properties, surface temperatures and current of 16wt% carbon nanofiber composite coated fabrics were $80^{\circ}C$ and 0.35A in the application of a 20V current. Carbon nanofiber composite coated fabrics have excellent electrical characteristics as fabric-heating elements.
In this paper, we present a novel ant-based hierarchical clustering algorithm, where ants repeatedly hop from one node to another over a weighted directed graph of k-nearest neighborhood obtained from a given dataset. We introduce a notion of node pheromone, which is the summation of amount of pheromone on incoming arcs to a node. The node pheromone can be regarded as a relative density measure in a local region. After a finite number of ants' hopping, we remove nodes with a small amount of node pheromone from the directed graph, and obtain a group of strongly connected components as clusters. We iteratively do this removing process from a low value of threshold to a high value, yielding a hierarchy of clusters. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm with synthetic and real data sets, comparing with traditional clustering methods. Experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method to the traditional methods.

H.264/AVC among moving picture compression standard is the standard format for high compression rate and reliable video transimission. It generates blocking effects in video due to compressing video using block-based DCT and includes de-blocking filter to reduce blocking effect. Therefore, the filter makes the video over-smoothing and the quality of it is reduced. In this paper, we propose a improved de-blocking filter to solve the demerit. The proposed de-blocking filter redetermine the block boundary strength and apply the comer filtering to eliminate artifacts in low frequency domain. To evaluate the performance, we apply the proposed deblocking filter and exiting method to various video and evaluated the quality of image subjectively and objectively by analyzing the result. The simulation result shows the proposed method preserves the edge of video, reduces blocking effects and improves PSNR than the existing method.
We present a new watermark design tool for digital images and digital videos that are based on human visual system (HVS) characteristics. In this tool, basic mechanisms (inhibitory and excitatory behaviour of cells) of HVS are used to determine image dependent upper bound values on watermark insertion. This allows us to insert maximai allowable transparent watermark, which in turn is extremely hard to attack with common image processing, Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) compression. As the number of details (e.g. edges) increases in an image, the HVS decrease its sensitivity to the details. In the same manner, as the number of motion increases in a video signal, the HVS decrease its sensitivity to the motions. We model this decreased sensitivity to the details and motions as an (motion) entropy masking. Entropy masking model can be efficiently used to increase the robustness of image and video watermarks. We have shown that our entropy-masking model provides watermark scheme with increased transparency and henceforth increased robustness.
Recently, interest on the performance of the construction temporary equipment have been greatly increased. Since the application of the 'Performance Test Code' for the equipment in 1992 according to the Industrial Safety and Health Act, a basic study of Steel Pipe Supports have been carried out for the last 2 years based on the Performance Test Results. The present code specification for the Steel Pipe Supports and research status are introduced. So far, total 849 specimen have been examined on their outer and inner pipe's length, thickness, their overlapping length, and their load carrying capacities. The test was conducted separately into two groups - used and new equipment, and it was found that the used ones revealed a decrease on their load carrying capacity, almost $10\%$ compared to the new ones. Considering this fact, it is strongly recommended to ensure the quality of the equipment before use at the jobsite. First of all, based on this basic investigation, the statistical values on the Steel Pipe Supports are suggested and further analysis on the effect of each component is in progress. It is, however, expected that this report can be used as a basic information on the Steel Pipe Supports.

This paper describes the finite element analysis and die design change of spring retainer forging process to reduce the cold forging load and plastic forming stress concentration. Plastic deformation analysis was carried out in order to understand the forming process of workpieces and elastic stress analysis of the die set was performed in order to get basic data for the die fatigue life estimation. Cold forging die design was set up to each process with different four types analysis progressing, the upper and lower dies shapes with combination of fillets and chamfers shapes of cold forging dies. This study suggested optimal cold forging die geometry to reduce cold forging load. The design parameters of fillets and chamfers are selected geometry were selected to apply optimization with the DoE (design of experiment) and Taguchi method. DoE and Taguchi method was performed to optimize the workpiece preform shape for spring retainer forging process, it was possible to expect an increase in cold forging die life due to the 20 percentage forging load reduction.
This investigation was designed to determine the effects of wire size, bracket width and the number of bracket on bracket-wire dynamic frictional resistance during simulating arch wire-guided tooth movement in vitro. For simulation of an arch wire-guided tooth movement, we simulated tooth, periodontal ligament and cancellous bone. Maxillary premolar and 1st molar were simulated as real sized resin teeth, the simulated resin teeth which its root was coated by polyether impression material which its elastic modulus is similar to periodontal ligament were embedded in steel housing with inlay wax which its elastic modulus is similar to cancellous bone. Stainless steel wires in four wire size (0.016, 0.018, $0.016\;{\times}\;0.022,\;0.019\;{\times}\;0.025$ inch) were examined with respect to three (stainless steel) bracket widths (2.4, 3.0, 4.3mm) and the number of medium bracket(one, two, three) included in the experimental assembly under dry condition. The wires were ligated into the brackets with elastomeric module. The results were as follows : 1. In all the brackets, frictional resistance increased with increase in wire size. But, statistically similar levels of frictional resistance were observed between 0.018 inch and $0.016\;{\times}\;0.022$ inch wires in narrow bracket and also between 0.016 inch and 0.018 inch wire in wide backet. 2. The frictional forces produced by 0.016 inch wire were statistically similar levels in all the brackets. In 0.018 inch round wire, wide bracket was associated with lower amounts of friction than both narrow and medium brackets. In $0.016\;{\times}\;0.022,\;0.019\;{\times}\;0.025$ inch rectangular wire, wide bracket produced target friction than both narrow and medium brackets. In all the wirer, narrow and medium bracket demonstrated no statistical difference in levels of frictional resistance. 3. Frictional resistance increased with increase In number of medium bracket. 0.016 inch round wire demonstrated the greatest increment in frictional resistance, followed by $0.019\;{\times}\;0.025,\;0.016\;{\times}\;0.022$ inch rectangular wire which were similar level in increment of frictional resistance, 0.018 inch wire demonstrated the least increment. The increments of frictional resistance were not constantly direct proportion to number of bracket.
