Method:Subjects were 63 children, mothers, who visited child & adolescent psychiatric clinic. Their mothers completed Minnesota Mulpiphasic Personality Inventory(MMPI) & Korean Personality Inventory for Children(KPI-C). Correlation between validity scales of mothers' MMPI and validity scales of KPI-C was analysed, and then we divided subjects into two group(High & Low Group) according to the MMPI validity scales, and compared KPI-C's validity scales by student t-test. Result:There were significant positive correlation(r=.30) between K scale of MMPI and L scale of KPI-C, significant negative correlation(r=-.32) F scale of MMPI and L scale of KPI-C. The Means of T scores did show significant difference according to MMPI F, K scales in KPI-C L scale, to MMPI L scale in KPI-C F scale. Conclusion:These results indicated that defensive mothers tend to perceive her child's problems more defensively. However mothers who exaggerate their problem more severely, do not exaggerate their children's problem. Therefore, these result suggested that we should be careful not to underestimate children's problem whose mother elevated in K scale of MMPI.

However, there was correlation among cooperation variables: appointment time compliance, appliance taking rate, breakage of appliance, cost paying. Appliance taking rate and cost paying showed positive correlation. Our findings suggest that patients' cooperation does not followed their parents' pychosocial state. This study examined the relations between maternal personality, preschoolers' temperament, and overprotective and controlling parenting. A total of 285 mothers whose children aged from 4 to 6 years participated in this study. Mothers completed a set of questionnaires on their personalities, their children's temperament, and their overprotective and controlling parenting. Data were analyzed by regression analyses and t-test. First, maternal extraversion was negatively related to overprotective and controlling parenting, and maternal neuroticism was positively related to these parenting variables. Second, preschoolers' adaptability was negatively linked to overprotective and controlling parenting, and preschoolers' activity was positively linked to these parenting variables. Lastly, preschoolers' adaptability moderated the impact of maternal extraversion on controlling parenting. Maternal extraversion was a negative predictor of controlling parenting when preschoolers' adaptability was low. This relation was non-significant when preschoolers' adaptability was high. These results clearly indicate that both maternal personality and preschoolers' temperament play crucial roles in overprotective and controlling parenting.
