Research Trends of the Korean Urban Geography: 1960~2012 (한국 도시지리학 연구동향: 1960~2012년)

  • The development of Korean urban geography can be divided into several stages including initial stage, transition stage, and maturation stage. If this trend persists, it can be expected that it would turn into the matured stage. This paper intended to recall the research trends from 1960 to 2012, focusing on 686 papers and 177 books published during the last 62 years, and investigated by research areas, study regions, methodologies, and journals in relation to urban geography. Although increasing number of urban geographers has made mutual relationship more complex and diverse, no signs of school formation have yet been seen in Korean urban geography. Large portions of papers have concerned about Seoul Metropolitan Region for their study regions. There have been diversified trends of oversea studies away from the US cities to other cities in various countries. Also, quantitative studies have been increasing their weight since the 2000s. Moreover, articles on the Journal of the Korean Urban Geographical Society have been far surpassed in its number.

Reliability improvement methods of AF track circuits for the train control system (열차내 연산시스템용 AF궤도회로 신뢰성향상 방안 연구)

  • The AF track circuit that detecting train position and transmitting various train control data for DTG to the train on-board is composed of single operation system. If a failure occurs on this system, the driver should be operate the train by manually until the system is restored, because the system cannot control switch machines and signals by automatically. In this process the human error affects to the train delay, collision, derailment and critical safety accident. Therefore, this document has analyzed the effects that each failure mode influences on system and train, and quantified the failure valuation point and class. Basis on this quantified analysis result, MTBF increased and MTTR decreased and failure number also decreased by adopting the independent installation of power supply, the replacement of defected capacitors, the installation of resister cooling system and the improvement of maintenance methods. And the failure factors of AF track circuits were decreased by conducting the preventive maintenance which is a quantitative way of maintenance system by experience.

  • All living organisms exhibit the characteristics of aging, such as skin wrinkle formation, muscle degeneration, cataracts, and hair graying as the number of aged cells increases over time. Senescence, which is known as a key cause of aging, is directly related to the aging of living organisms because cells are aged by external and internal factors and eventually cell proliferation is stopped. Senescence is caused by the gradual shortening of the telomere with cell division, and lifespan is determined by the length of the telomere. Recently, it has been found that the histone deacetylase, which can influence gene expression, is not only involved in yeast but also deeply involved in anti-aging mechanisms in both C. elegans and humans. It was also discovered that old cells play a decisive role in the aging phenomenon, and it has been reported that it is possible to promote the proliferation of young cells and delay aging by removing these senescent cells from the inside. Therefore, in order to develop potential anti-aging agents in the future, research should begin with an in-depth study of telomerase activators, sirtuin activators, and senolytics.

Empirical Analysis on Economic Factors of Infringement on Ocean Sovereignty from Chinese fishing boats (중국어선 해양주권 침해의 경제적 요인에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • Areas of marine activity have expanded into exclusive economic zones and the continental shelf since the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea(UNCLOS) in 1994, The signatory countries have been enforcing their maritime rights and competition in the international community has become intensified. Marine-related issues, including maritime sovereignty, has become an increasingly important issue with many national security and related studies following this trend. However, while there are many policy-related studies there remain few empirical studies. This paper conducted a study of illegal cases of Chinese fishing boats which are quite frequently for an empirical study on maritime sovereignty. This study conducted empirical analysis regarding factors relating to ocean sovereignty infringement by using correlation and multiple regression analysis. The result of observed increases in illegal Chinese fishing boats decreased the production of aquatic products, whish resulted in economic fishery losses to Korea households and inflation in the Korean economy.

UBET Analysis of Combined Forging of Non-Axisymmetric Shapes With Inclined Protrusion (경사진 돌출부가 있는 비축대칭 복합단조의 상계요소해석)

  • The study is concerned with the analysis of combined forging of non-axisymmetric shapes with inclined protrusions by UBET technique. Work hardening is considered for the given range of strain rate during the forging process. A complex shape with inclined cavities is analyzed by subdividing the workpiece into finite UBET elements for which simple velocity fields are applicable. An experimental set-up was designed and manufactured for the experiment, and experiments are carried out with lead billets. The devised set-up can be used for closed-die forging of complex shapes with protrusions in which the dies can be separated automatically for easy removal of the forged products. Based on the derived kinematically admissible velocity fields for corresponding UBET elements, general computer programs have been developed. Since the energy dissipation rate for each elemental region is provided by subprograms (Subroutine or Function), the developed program can be applied to the forging problems of various shapes. The present study has shown that the method developed can be effectively applied to forging of non-axisymmetric shapes with complicated protrusions.

Improvement of AgNW of Thermal and Environmental Stability Using Plasma Treatment and Overlayer on AgNW (플라즈마 처리 및 Overlayer 형성을 통한 AgNW전극의 내열성 및 환경안정성 향상 연구)

  • 투명전극인 Indium Tin Oxide (ITO)는 높은 투과도와 낮은 면저항을 가지지만 brittle한 성질로 유연성이 떨어져 플렉서블한 디바이스에 적용하기에는 어려움이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 ITO를 대체할 수 있는 CNT, Graphene, AgNW, 전도성 고분자 투명전극이 연구되어지고 있다. 투명전극 중에서도 AgNW는 용액공정으로 제조 단가가 비교적 저렴하며, 높은 투과도와 전기전도 특성을 가지는 투명전극으로 주목받고 있는 차세대 투명전극이다. AgNW는 나노와이어가 네트워크를 형성하고 있어 높은 전도성과 광 투과도를 가지지만 내열성이 좋지 않아 $200^{\circ}C$ 이상의 온도에서 손상된다. 또한 흡습성의 고분자 물질로 둘러싸여 있기 때문에 내환경성이 좋지 않다는 단점이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 AgNW전극에 플라즈마 처리를 통해서 $250^{\circ}C$ 까지 내열성을 향상시킬 수 있었으며 추가적으로 Overlayer를 형성하여 $300^{\circ}C$까지 열적 안전성을 확보하여 내열성을 향상시켰다. 습도 85%, 온도 $85^{\circ}C$에서 36일간 환경안정성테스트 결과, 기존 AgNW 전극은 저항이 164% 증가한 것에 비해 플라즈마 처리후 Overlayer를 형성한 AgNW는 49% 저항증가로 저항증가율이 3배 이상 감소하여 환경안정성이 향상된 것을 확인하였다. 이는 흡습성 고분자 물질이 플라즈마 처리에 의해 제거되고 Overlayer가 보호막 역할을 하여 산소와 반응하지 않았기 때문으로 판단된다. 플라즈마 처리와 Overlayer를 형성한 AgNW 전극을 적용하여 투명히터를 제작한 결과 유연 기판상 투명히터로 활용이 가능함을 확인하였고 내열성이 향상되어 높은 전압에서도 안정적인 구동을 보였다. 이를 투명히터 뿐만 아니라 다양한 디바이스에 적용한다면 보다 높은 효율을 기대할 수 있을 것이라 예상된다.

Field Emission Characteristics of ZnO Nanowires Grown by Hydrothermal Method (수열합성법에 의해 성장된 ZnO 나노와이어의 전계방출 특성)

  • We fabricated FEDs(Filed emission devices) based on ZnO nanowires. The ZnO nanowires were synthesized on Au thin films by hydrothermal method at the temperature of 90[$^{\circ}C$] on hot plate. In order to form tips of the ZnO nanowire, SDS(Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate) was mixed in O.05-0.3[wt%] solution as capping material. After 2 hour growth, we obtained nanowires of chain form The high-purity nanowires showed sharp tip geometry with a wurtzite structure. The field emission properties of the ZnO nanowires were investigated in high vacuum chamber. The turn-on field for the ZnO nanowires was found to be about 4.1[V/${\mu}m$] at a current density of 0.1[${\mu}A/cm^2$].

An Improved Dynamic Branch Predictor by Selective Access of a Specific Element in 4-Way Cache (4-Way 캐쉬의 선택된 Element를 이용한 향상된 동적 분기 예측기 구현)

  • This paper proposes an improved branch predictor that reduces the number execution cycles of applications by selectively accessing a specific element in 4-way associative cache. When a branch instruction is fetched, the proposed branch predictor acquires a branch target address from the selected element in the cache by referring to MRU buffer. Branch prediction rate and application execution speed are considerably improved by increasing the number of BTAC entries in restricted power condition, when compared with that of previous branch predictor which accesses all elements. The effectiveness of the proposed dynamic branch predictor is verified by executing benchmark applications on the core simulator. Experimental results show that number of execution cycles decreases by an average of 10.1%, while power consumption increases an average of 7.4%, when compared to that of a core without a dynamic branch predictor. Execution cycles are reduced by 4.1% in comparison with a core which employs previous dynamic branch predictor.

Development of Indoor Locomotion Assistive Robot, Ball-Chair, for the Elderly (고령자를 위한 실내 이동 보조 로봇 볼체어의 개발)

  • This paper describes the development of an indoor locomotion assistive robot, Ball-Chair, comprising a novel drive system. This robot facilitates locomotion assistive operation in narrow spaces, in which common wheelchairs cannot move easily. The Ball-Chair has two main features: its structural feature and driving mechanism. The exoskeleton frames of the Ball-Chair have been designed with octagonal shapes resembling a circle, for minimizing its volume and weight. Additionally, all its driving parts (including the ball) are mounted within of the robot to enhance its safety. The Ball-Chair features a reverse ball-mouse driving mechanism comprising two driving omni-wheels in the x- and y-axes. By controlling the speed of each omni-wheel, a holonomic driving system that can facilitate omnidirectional locomotion has been achieved using only two wheels. The effective movement of the Ball-Chair in any direction within narrow indoor spaces was experimentally verified. The paper outlines the development procedure in detail.

도금법을 사용한 주석 나노와이어 배터리 음극재료의 제작 및 전기화학적 특성 분석

  • 최근 석유에너지의 고갈과 휴대용 전자기기의 사용의 증가로 고효율의 배터리의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 생체칩에서 부터 전기자동차, 에너지 저장체까지 광범위한 산업군에 걸처 배터리의 개발이 되고 있어 시장규모의 계속적인 성장이 있을 것으로 전망하고 있다. 현재 상용되고 있는 음극 재료는 카본재료(이론 용량 372 mAh/g)이다. 이 카본재료의 특징은 값이 싸고, 표준 환원전위가 낮아 비교적 높은 전압을 낼 수 있다. 그러나 낮은 에너지밀도를 갖으므로 높은 에너지를 필요로 하는 차세대 산업군인 전기자동차 등에는 적합하지 않은 것으로 평가되고 있다. 그래서 더 높은 에너지 밀도를 갖는 다른 재료들에 대한 연구들이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 음극 재료로서 주석을 선택해서 연구를 하였다. 카본계열의 음극재료의 질량당 이론 에너지 밀도는 372 mAh/g임에 반해 주석같은 경우는 약 991 mAh/g 정도의 비교적 큰 이론용량을 갖고 있다. 하지만, 주석 등 금속, 혹은 금속 합금을 음극재료로 사용할 경우 많은 양의 리튬이 삽입/탈착되면서 약 300% 이상의 부피변화가 있게 된다. 그러한 과정에서 주석이 분쇄되어 떨어지거나 전자를 제공받는 집전체로부터 떨어지게 되고, 이 과정에서 심각한 에너지 밀도의 손실이 일어나게 된다. 이러한 문제점들을 극복하기 위해 다음과 같은 구조들을 고안하여 도금 공정을 사용하여 음극재료를 제작하여 실험을 진행하게 되었다. 도금법은 대면적을 싼 가격으로 할 수 있으며 원하는 두께 및 모폴로지까지 쉽게 조절할 수 있다. 부피팽창에 의한 스트레스를 최소화하기 위해 도금법을 사용하여 나노구조를 만들어 그에 따른 전기화학적 특성 변화를 측정하였다. 다공성 필름인 AAO 디스크의 한 면에 구리를 sputtering 공정을 사용하여 0.5 um 두께의 seed layer 구리 박막을 형성하고 형성된 구리 박막 위에 도금공정을 이용하여 두껍게 구리를 증착함으로 구리 음극 집전체를 형성한다. 그 후 AAO 구조 안에 주석을 도금하면 AAO의 구조를 따라 주석 나노와이어가 형성이 된다. 마지막으로 NaOH로 AAO를 제거해주면 직경 200 nm, 길이 2 um 정도의 주석 나노와이어를 구리 집전체위에 만들 수 있었다. 배터리의 용량을 측정한 결과 안정한 싸이클 특성과 약 400 mAh/g의 에너지 밀도를 갖는 것으로 나타났다.
