분무수 분무특성이 액체연료 Pool 화염의 소화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Spray Characteristics of Water Mist on The Extinction of a Liquid Pool Fire)

  • A series of experiments were conducted to study the effectiveness of the extinction of a liquid pool fire with two different water atomizing nozzles. Fire source is a small-scale circular stainless steel pan of 120mm in diameter with the fuels of hexane and ethanol. K-type thermocouples were used to measure the flame and fuel temperature along the pool centerline and under fuel surface. A digital camera was used to visualize the process of the fire suppression. The experimental results show that water mist droplet size is l15∼180${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with nozzle A and 130∼190${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with nozzle B. The extinguishing time of pool fire was reduced with the increase of pressure. When water droplets are small, they do not reach the flame base since they may be deflected or evaporated by the fire plume. However, influence of flow rate is more important than droplet size on fire extinction. Among the fire extinction mechanisms, drop of flame temperature is superior to suffocation of $O_2$ concentration.

  • In a liquid-fueled ramjet engine, the insufficient mixing and evaporation result in the low combustion efficiency and combustion instability. Improving its characteristics and devising a means of fuel droplets with air may compensate these disadvantages of liquid fuel ramjet engine. The jet penetrations of various fuel injectors were measured to investigate the spray characteristics of a liquid-fueled ramjet engine under high pressure air-stream conditions. The penetrations in high pressure conditions are smaller than the values calculated from Inamura's or Lee's equations, and the jet penetrations in the high pressure conditions have a similar tendency. In the dual orifice injectors, the jet penetrations of rare orifice is rapidly increased due to the reduction of the drag, which is created by the jet column of front orifice. The jet penetration of rare orifice is increased because of the drag reduction created by the jet column of the front orifice. Because of the drag reduction formed by the column of jet, the jet penetration in the rear orifice of dual orifice injector is much larger than the jet penetrations of single orifice injector. As the distances of the orifice are increased, the jet penetrations of the rear orifice decrease.

  • 지금까지의 충돌분무에 대한 연구는 제트의 충돌시 형성되는 액막의 분열 과정을 이해하고 이를 모델링하는데 초점을 두어왔기 때문에 실질적으로 연소 효율에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 연료의 공간분포 특성에 대한 연구가 부족하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 like-doublet 충돌분사 노즐을 사용하여 연료 유량 플럭스의 단면분포 특성을 연구하였다. PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer)를 통해 액적의 크기를 측정한 기존의 방법은 연료의 평면적인 분포특성을 이해하는데 상당히 제한적이었기 때문에 평면 레이저 유도형광기법(PLE : Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence)을 이용하여 분무의 단면 분포를 측정하였고, 직접사진을 통하여 액적의 크기도 측정하여 PLIF의 결과와 비교하였다.

  • 젤(gel) 추진제는 고체 및 액체 추진 시스템의 장점 중 높은 비추력, 저장성, 추력 제어, 비독성, 누설 방지와 같은 특성으로 고성능 추진 시스템에 활용되어 지능형 전략 미사일 또는 발사체의 부스터 및 여러 추진 시스템에 사용될 수 있다. 젤 모사 추진제는 물, Carbopol 941, NaOH 농축액을 혼합하여 제작되었으며, 물과 젤 모사 추진제를 충돌형 인젝터에서 분사시켜 분무 특성을 고찰하였다. 젤 모사 추진제의 충돌 분무에 의해 나타난 긴 액막(liquid sheet)은 강한 상호 분자력에 관련한 중합(polymeric)효과를 나타낸다. 물 분사와 비교했을 때 젤 모사 추진제의 미립화 억제와 난류 천이 지연에 관련된 높은 점도로 인하여 저조한 미립화 특성과 좁은 범위의 분무각을 나타내었다.

  • The present study investigates experimentally the characteristics of liquid jet, which is, the spray flow in the normal direction of the air stream under the flow conditions of air velocity $110\sim125m/s$. The present study adopts with the flow visualization technique using a short duration light bulb and the image processing analyse with CCD camera. Two types of injector were used: one is a flat plate type, and the other is backward facing step type, which height are 5, 8, 10mm. Dispersion of liquid jet can be represented by gray level of CCD camera. In the upstream of liquid jet, the backward facing step shows better liquid jet penetration. However, in the downstream. mean droplet size for backward facing step injector is smaller than that for flat plate injector

  • 본 연구는 중심부에 액체, 외주부에 산화제가 흐르는 기액 동축분류의 유동장에 대한 것이다. 기액 동축 분사기는 연료의 분사량이 적은 소형 연소시스템을 고려하여, 실험은 연공비(W1/Wa)가 0.6 이하를 대상으로, 물과 공기를 사용하여 분사조건에 따른 분무특성과 기액 2상 분무류의 기본구조를 조사하여 액적의 확산, 기액혼합특성에 대하여 검토하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 반경방향 기상속도분포 및 액적유속분포는 분구직경 및 분사조건에 관계없이 정규분포에 가까운 형태를 취하고 있으며, 각각 식 (2) 및 (3)으로 나타낼 수 있다. 기상속도는 반치폭은 축방향에 따라 일정한 구배 (≒4.6)로서 증가하며, 기상만의 단상분류의 구배(≒6)에 비해서 완만하다. 액적유속 반치폭은 축방향에 따라 더욱 완만한 구배(≒3.1)로서 증가한다. 무차원 액적유속분포는 축방향에 따라 일정한 구배(n≒1.5)로서 감소한다. 액적의 확산은 상대적으로 기액유량비가 클수록 효과적으라고는 말할 수 없고, 최대 확산을 이루는 최적의 기액유량비가 존재한다.

  • Liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) has been used as motor fuel due to its low emissions and low cost. The fuel feeding system has been improved with stringent requirement for exhaust emissions. LPG carburation system was firstly introduced, then the system changed into a gas injection system controlled precisely, but those gas feeding system has a limitation on improving power output. In order to improve an engine performance, a multi-point port injection system was introduced recently, and a liquid direct injection system into a cylinder was suggested as a next generation system to maximize a fuel economy as well as a power. This study addresses the analysis of the LPG spray from diesel injectors. The spray images are visualized and compared with diesel sprays in a wide injection pressure range. The photographs show much wider dispersion of LPG sprays.

  • Study on the analysis of sodium spray fire using Gaussian drop size distribution, which redistributes a droplet spectrum with given mean diameter if its size classes with critical diameter(D>8mm) occur, was carried out. In this case, the oversized droplets were reduced to a stable diameter. Results calculated by the code using Gaussian drop size distribution were in better agreement with AI experimental results than those of NACOM and SPRAY code. The effect of variance on pressure in the test cell appeared greatly by introducing Gaussian function, which could represent various sodium droplet size distribution. The increase of the variance with mean droplet size resulted had an important effect upon the pressure in the test cell.

  • An experimental study was carried out with an aerated nozzle. This nozzle was well known that the performance of the atomization is better than other ones even though the supplied air pressure is lower than that of them. The purpose of this investigation is to provide the essential information of the aerated nozzle from the nozzle exit. The experimental work was performed in order to analyze the characteristics of the overall flow field from the nozzle exit. The 2-D PDPA system was used to acquire the data in the concerned region. The characteristics of the mean velocity distribution, half-width, and SMD were mainly analyzed. Also the correlation between turbulent kinetic energy and SMD was described with ALR.

  • Characteristics of droplet vaporization at high ambient pressures and temperatures which are supercritical conditions is studied numerically by formulating one dimensional vaporization model in liquid dodecane and air. Modified Soave-Redlich-Kwong state equation is used to condider real gas effect. Non-ideal behavior of properties at near critical and supercritical conditions is considered in the high pressure condition. Characteristic spatial distribution of properties with various conditions of pressure and temperature is evaluated in order to understand vaporizing evolution.
