This study aims to explore emotional closeness between grandparents and grandchildren in Korean families with a focus on the lineage. The effects of the geographical proximity and the normative aspect as well as intergenerational financial, instrumental, and emotional supports were taken into consideration to accounting for the grandparent-grandchildren affective solidarity. Research questions are addressed using the data of "Survey on Generational Solidarity and Differences in Cultural Experience and Perception in Korea", and a series of multinomial regression model were conducted. Findings indicate that the salient factor to boost grandchildren's affective solidarity with paternal grandparents is financial transfers between grandparents and parents. By contrast, all types of intergenerational supports affected grandchildren's emotional closeness toward maternal grandparents. Geographical proximity was associated with the affective solidarity between grandchildren and maternal grandparents. The effects of normative solidarity were not shown at both lineages.

This study was conducted with 193 pairs of mother-in-law and son-in-law to examine the mediating effect of marital satisfaction on the relationship between interpersonal differentiation and affectual solidarity. Using SPSS and PROCESS macro program, descriptive statistical analysis(frequency, ratio, mean, and standard deviation) and mediating effect analysis through bootstrapping were performed. The main research results are as follows. First, in the case of the son-in-law, his own marital satisfaction completely mediated the relationship between the sub-factors of interpersonal differentiation (fusion with others, emotional cutting) and affectual solidarity. Second, in the case of mother-in-law, the perceived daughter's marital satisfaction partially mediated the relationship between the sub-factors of interpersonal differentiation (connectivity, separability) and affectual solidarity. These findings suggest the functional importance of the marital system for a healthy relationship between mother-in-law and son-in-law.

본 연구는 청소년기 부모-자녀관계 및 노부모-성인자녀간 결속도가 노인의 생활 만 족도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 각 변인들간의 인관관계를 알아보고자 하는데 그 목적이 있 다 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다 1)노부모-성인자녀간 결속도는 비교적 높은 편이었으며 청소년기 부모-자녀관계가 애정적.권위적.자율적이고 갈등의 정도가 낮았을수록 높았다. 2) 노인의생활만족도는 청소년기 부모-자녀관계가 애정적.자율적이었으며 갈등의정도가 낮 았을수록 높게 나타났고 권위적 관계였을수록 과거 생활만족도는 높았고 미래 생활만족도는 낮았다 또한 노인의 생활만족도는 현재 성인자녀가 접촉적.정서적 .일치적.기능적.규범 적 결속이 높을수록 높았으며 구조적 결속에 따라서는 차이가 없었다 3) 노인의 생활만족도 에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 변인은 청소년기 부모-자녀관계중 갈등적 관계였다.

The purpose of this study is examining the effect of aging attitudes of older people on their life satisfaction, and investigating the mediating role of solidarity between parents and children. To achieve this, the survey was conducted with 2,076 Korean elderlies who were sampled with proportional stratified, and performed multi-mediated regression with SPSS macro PROCESS v.2.16. The results are following. First, aging attitude that older people recognized significantly affects to their life satisfaction. Second, aging attitude significantly affects to the five sub-categories of solidarity between parents and children. Especially, as elderly shows more negative attitude on aging, the solidarity also goes higher. Third, among sub-categories of solidarity between parents and children, affectional, identical, and functional solidarities play roles of mediator on the relationship between aging attitude and life satisfaction, and affectional solidarity shows the biggest influence on the relationship. Based on the results, practical and policy intervention were suggested for better life satisfaction of Korean elderly.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of storytelling lessons using picture books on the resilience of adolescents and the parent-child relationships in the family unit of home economics subject in middle school. For this purpose, I selected picture books of five themes on family type, family relationship, family conflict, sexual violence, domestic violence, and family loss, and developed a teaching-learning process plan for 'Family class with picture book' using storytelling elements and techniques. The teaching-learning plan was applied to 194 middle school students in technology·home economics classes, and the learning effet was evaluated by comparing pre- and post-tests. As a result, the resilience level perceived by adolescents increased significantly after class, but no significant effect was found on self-expansion, which is a sub-factor of sociality. In the parent-child relationship of adolescents, the effect of instruction was shown in all areas, and the affectional bonds felt in the relationship with mother than with father showed higher increase. In the family unit of home economics, storytelling lesson through picture book seems to have a positive influence on the adolescents in their relationship with the family by bringing up the potential power in them to stand against the adversities they may face.
