A Study on the Operating Characters of the Piezoelectric Inverter to Drive EEFL for a Large Screen (대화면 Backlight를 위한 EEFL 구동용 압전 인버터 운전 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, EEFL, which is advantageous for driving multi-lamp and is able to reduce number of inverter, is used and Piezoelectric Transformer, which is able to reduce self loss, miniaturize and has high boosting transfer rate, and parallel connected to drive multi-lamp. For optimized EEFL driver circuit configuration, a Push-Pull type Piezoelectric inverter was designed and a simulation analysis was performed on the inverter circuit, and by applying multiple different type of driving methode, it is proved that a piezoelectric transformer can be used to manufacture a big screen multi-lamp driving inverter.

  • In this paper, broadband shunt technique for increasing transmission loss is experimentally investigated. Piezoelectric shunt damping is studied using resonant shunt circuit and negative capacitor shunt circuit. A resonant shunt circuit is implemented by using a resistor and inductor. Negative Capacitor shunt damping is similar in nature to resonant shunt damping techniques, as a single piezoelectric material is used to dampen multi-mode. Performance of both methods is experimentally studied for noise reduction. This is based upon SAE J1400 test method and a transmission loss measurement system is provided for it. This paper will present the test setup fer transmission loss measurement and the tuning procedure of shunt circuits. Finally the results of sound transmission tests will be shown.

Effect of Measuring Method on the Evaluation of Piezoelectric and Dielectric Properties of PMN-PT Single Crystal (PMN-PT 단결정의 압전 및 유전 특성 평가에 미치는 측정 방법의 영향)

  • The influence of measuring fixtures on the measurement of dielectric and piezoelectric properties of PMN-PT single crystal specimens was investigated. As the pressure of the jig pin which applied the AC electrical signal to the sample decreased, the lower resonance resistance was measured and the higher mechanical quality factor was calculated. The mechanical quality factor was 418 when the spring tension of the jig pin was 20grf, and the value of the quality factor was reduced by half when the spring tension was 200grf. The 4-probe fixture method is unsuitable for measuring piezoelectric properties, but it was suitable for the measurement of dielectric loss. In order to accurately evaluate the piezoelectric properties of PMN-PT, it is necessary to lower the spring tension of the jig pin as much as possible.

  • Theoretical background for the meaning of various piezoelectric properties can be easily found in a number of textbooks and academic papers. In contrast, how they are actually measured and characterized are rarely described, though this information would be the most important especially to the researchers who just started working on the field. It follows that this report was intended to provide a practical guidance for measuring basic but essential properties of ferroelectric-based piezoelectric materials. The discussion begins with how to measurement dielectric properties such as dielectric permittivity and loss (dissipation factor), followed by piezoelectric properties such as piezoelectric constants, electromechanical coupling factor, and quality factor as well as ferroelectric features, i.e., electric field dependent polarization hysteresis. Though our discussion here is limited to the techniques that are already well-standardized, it is expected to make a seed to be developed into more challenging and creative ones.

  • PSN-PT 2성분계 압전세라믹스의 상도로부터 유전적, 압전적 특성이 양호한 MPB (Morphotropic phase boundary)부근의 조성을 선택하여 도너 도펀트인 $Nb_2O_5$와 억셉터 도펀트인 $Fe_2O_3$를 각각 $0{\sim}9wt%$ 첨가하여 유전특성을 비교, 연구해보았다 시편모두 $1250^{\circ}C$이상에서 이론밀도의 96%이상의 값을 얻을 수 있었고 상온, 1kHz에서 $Fe_2O_3$의 경우 0.1wt% 첨가된 시편에서 ${\varepsilon}_r=2054$의 최대 비유전율이 나타났으며, 0.7wt% 첨가된 시편에서는 $tan{\delta}$=0.49%의 최소 유전 손실값을 얻었다. 도펀트가 첨가됨에 따라 ${\varepsilon}_r$는 점점 감소하는 경향을 보였으며 큐리온도 Tc는 $Fe_2O_3$의 경우에서 더 큰 값이 나타났다. $Nb_2O_5$의 경우 도펀트의 증가에 따라 완만한 Relaxor의 형태로 나타났다.

  • Aerosol deposition method(ADM)는 상온에서 에어로졸화된 고상의 원료분말을 노즐을 통해 분사시켜 소결과정을 거치지 않고도 상온에서 고밀도 후막을 제조할 수 있는 공정으로서, 다양한 재료의 코팅이 가능하고, 코팅층의 조성 및 화학 양론비의 제어가 용이한 특징을 갖는다. 본 연구에서는 ADM을 이용하여 큰 유전상수, 압전계수, 초전계수, 탄성계수를 갖는 $BaTiO_3$ 분말을 원료로 하여 압전소자, 커패시터, 고전압용 유전체 등에 응용이 가능한 세라믹 층 형성에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 또한 $BaTiO_3$ 같은 강유전체 세라믹을 이용하여 여러 가지 소자를 제조하는 경우 소자의 미세조직에 따라 물성이 영향을 받는 것으로 확인되어져 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 세라믹 분말보다 상대적으로 탄성이 큰 polymer 분말을 첨가하여 후막 내부의 결정립의 크기가 20 nm 의 평균 결정립을 갖는 세라믹 후막에 비해 최대 10 배 정도까지 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이에 따라 후막에서의 유전율 및 유전손실율의 전기적 특성 변화를 확인할 수 있었고, 이러한 물성변화에 대한 원인 고찰을 위하여 후막의 미세구조 및 화학조성 등에 대한 다양한 분석이 이루어 졌으며, 상온에서 성막되는 후막의 세라믹 층의 응용을 위한 최적의 공정조건을 제시하고자 한다.

FBAR Device with Thin AlN Piezoelectric Film for 2 GHz RF Bandpass Filter Applications (2 GHz 대역 RF 대역통과 필터 응용을 위한 AlN 압전 박막을 이용한 FBAR 소자)

  • A film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) device for 2 GHz radio frequency (RF) bandpass filter application is presented. This FBAR device consists of an aluminum nitride (AlN) film sandwiched between top(Al) and bottom(Au) electrodes and an acoustic multilayer reflector of a silicon dioxide/tungsten (SiO2/W). The A/N film deposited using a RF sputtering was observed to have small columnar grains with a strongly preferred orientation towards c axis. In addition to a high quality factor (4300), a large return loss of 37.19 dB was obtained.

A Study on the ZnO Piezoelectric Thin Film SAW Filter for High Frequency (ZnO 압전 박막을 이용한 고주파 SAW 필터 연구)

  • ZnO thin films on glass substrate were deposited by RF magnetron reactive sputtering at 100 W, 1.33 Pa, Ar/O2=50 : 50, 200$^{\circ}C$, and a target/substrate distance of 4 cm. Crystallinities, surface morphologies, chemical compositions, and electrical properties of the films were investigated by XRD, SEM, AFM, RBS, and electrometer. All films showed a strong preferred c-axis orientation and the chemical stoichiometry. The propagation velocity of ZnO/IDT/glass of single electrode and double electrode types SAW filter was about 2,589 m/sec, 2,533 m/sec and insertion loss was a minimum value of about -11 dB and -21 dB, respectively.

  • In This paper, we developed 1.96 GHz air gap type FBAR BPF using ZnO as piezoelectric sputtered by RF magnetron at room temperature. FBAR BPF was fabricated by sputtering bottom electrode (Al), ZnO as piezoelectric and top electrode (Mo) on Si wafer one by one with RF magnetron sputter, then Si was dry etched to make an air hole. XRD test result of fabricated FBAR BPF showed that ZnO crystal was well pre-oriented as (002) and sigma value of XRC was 1.018. IL(Insertion loss) showed excellent result as 1 dB.

  • DMFC uses oxygen by reactants. Therefore, cathode electrode must contact with outside air. However, when used in mobile devices, the user's body by blocking the air intake on the oxygen supply DMFC con not. DMFC to supply air to the cooling fan is used. However, by using cooling fan, air inlet to the pressure loss and changes will occurs, the output will be worse. In this paper, we designed air supplying system using piezo actuators. We DMFC evaluation system was implemented, verified the performance of air supplying system. And the operation was connected to an MP3 player.
