Analysis of Measuring Error for Particle Size Analysis by Laser Diffraction Spectrometer (입자크기분석을 위한 레이저회절 분광계의 측정오차 분석)

  • This study analysed error of measurement and reproducibility for particle size analysis by the laser diffraction spectrometer. Laser diffraction spectrometers has become a very important method of particle size analysis. This measuring method has the advantage of simple operation, good reproducibility and rapid analysis. A feeding and dispersing system have been developed, which allows mass throughputs between 0.1~23 g/min in flowing air and 1.4~35% in flowing liquid. It has been used as a feeder unit for wet and dry particle size analysis from diffraction patterns. Relevant parameters, such as particle shape, particle size, dispersion, flow rate, concentration were analysed for measuring error. And system parameters of instruments for measurement of dynamic processes, eg, measuring time, focal plane, injection pressure drop and dispersion effect by the ultrasonic and mixing of preliminary treatment, were also discussed.

Properties of Multi Layers Al-Mg Coated Steel Sheets by Sputtering System (스퍼터링 공정에 의해 제조된 다층 Al-Mg 코팅강판의 특성)

  • 철을 보호하는 코팅막에 있어서 현재는 우수한 희생방식성을 가지는 아연(Zn)이 많은 분야에서 활용되고 있지만 성능 향상을 위해서는 코팅막의 두께 증가가 필연적이다. 동일한 두께 혹은 그 이하에서 더 나은 내식성을 가지는 코팅막을 개발하는 목적으로 알루미늄(Al)과 마그네슘(Mg)을 이용한 코팅막의 개발을 진행하고 있으며 이 발표에서는 Al과 Mg의 코팅막을 다층으로 제작하여 이전 실험의 Al-Mg 코팅 강판과 비교 하였을 때 어떠한 특성이 나타나는지를 확인하였다. Al-Mg 코팅층은 99.999%의 Al, 99.99%의 Mg target을 사용하여 스퍼터링을 이용하여 냉연강판 위에 코팅하였다. 증발물질과 기판과의 거리는 7cm 이며, 기판은 세척을 실시한 후 클리닝 챔버에 장착하고 ${\sim}10^{-5}Torr$ 까지 진공배기를 실시하였다. 클리닝 챔버가 기본 압력까지 배기되면 아르곤 가스를 주입하고 기판홀더에 -800 V의 직류 전압을 인가하여 약 30분간 글로우 방전 청정을 실시하였다. 기판의 청정이 끝나면 아르곤 가스를 차단하고 코팅 챔버로 시편을 이송 후 코팅층 성분의 구성형태에 따라 Al과 Mg을 코팅하였다. Al-Mg 코팅층은 $5{\mu}m$의 두께를 기준으로 계면의 코팅층이 각각 Al과 Mg이며 다층으로 구성된 코팅층을 제작하였다. 그리고 후속 공정으로 질소 분위기 $400^{\circ}C$에서 10분간 열처리를 하였다. Al-Mg 코팅층을 주사전자현미경(SEM)으로 관찰한 결과, 표면에서는 Al 또는 Mg의 결정성 구조를 보였으며 단면에서는 다층의 경계를 조금이지만 확인할 수 있었으며 글로우방전분광기(GDLS)를 통해 열처리 후에는 층의 구분이 모호해 지는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 그리고 XRD를 통하여 열처리 후 Al-Mg 합금상의 생성도 확인하였다. 또한 Al-Mg가 다층으로 코팅된 강판을 염수분무시험을 통해서 내부식 특성을 확인하였다. Al-Mg 코팅 강판의 염수분무시험 결과, 모든 제작된 코팅층에서 열처리 전 보다 열처리 후 3배 이상의 내식성의 향상효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과로부터 열처리에 의한 합금상 생성 그리고 Al-Mg 박막의 미세구조 변화가 강판의 내식성에 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었지만 다층 제작이 미치는 영향에 대해서는 좀 더 연구가 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

  • A 1/15-scale CREARE experiment, which simulates the thermal-hydraulic behavior in the reactor pressure vessel of a PWR during a hypothetical Loss Of Coolant Accident, has been analyzed using CATHARE code for the associated model assessment to represent the phenomenon. The key parameters examined in the CREARE experiment were known as ECC water injection rate. ECC water subcooling, system pressure, and steam flow rate coming out from the core bottom. The present CATHARE simulation, however, has been mainly focused on qualitative analysis of a countercurrent flow in the downcomer. The discrepancy of the simulation results with the experimental data is considered arising primarily from an inadequate numerical representation as well as an interfacial friction model. Accordingly it is suggested from the sensitivity studies that either multidimensional approach or further examination of momentum equations at a junction near a volume element in CATHARE be necessary in order to represent the phenomenon more realistically.

A Study on Bearing Capacity Reinforcement for PHC Pile Foundation Using Post-grouting (그라우팅 기법을 활용한 PHC 파일 기초의 지지력 증강 효과 연구)

  • In this research, post grouting methods were applied on PHC piles, and static load tests were conducted to confirm the effect of post grouting on bearing capacity enhancement of PHC piles. Grouting pressures of 1.9 MPa and 3.5 MPa were applied, and bearing capacities of grouted piles were compared with that of non-grouted pile. From the static load test results, the bearing capacities of grouted piles were about 3 times higher than that of non-grouted pile. In addition, the design efficiency (allowable bearing capacity/nominal bearing capacity) increased from 32% to 97% after post grouting, and the axial stiffness of piles also increased by about 1.3 times per grouting pressure.

  • The present study investigated numerically heat and mass transfer characteristics of a fixed bed reactor by using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code of Fluent (ver. 13.0). The temperature and species fraction were estimated for different porosities. For modeling of the catalyst in a fixed bed tube, catalysts were regarded as the porous material, and the empirical correlation of pressure drop based on the modified Eugun equation was used for simulation. In addition, the averaged porosities were taken as 0.545, 0.409, and 0.443 and compared with non-porous state. The predicted results showed that the temperature at the tube wall became higher than that estimated along the center line of tube, leading to higher hydrogen generation by the endothermic reaction and heat transfer. As the mean porosity increases, the hydrogen yield and the outlet temperature decreased because of the pressure drop inside the reformer tube.

  • Attrition characteristics of PKM1-SU particles, $CO_2$ absorbents for pre-combustion $CO_2$ capture process, and FCC particles, catalytic particles for hydro cracking of crude oil, were investigated at high temperature and high pressure conditions. Particle attrition tests were executed at various kinds of temperature ($0-400^{\circ}C$) and pressure (0-20 bar) conditions in a cylinder type bubbling fluidized bed with 15.1 cm diameter, 120 cm height and 1 mm orifice-sparger tube. Attrited particles before and after tests were analyzed by BET, optical microscopy, and particle size analyzer. Effects of bed material height (solid inventory) and steam injection were also verified by using ASTM D5757-95, conventional attrition test method.

Effects of Combustion Instability by Swirl Intensity in Hybrid Rocket (스월 강도에 따른 하이브리드 로켓의 연소 불안정 영향)

  • The addition of swirl is a common technique used in premixed combustors in order to gain stability of the combustion with the improvements in mixing characteristics. recent experimental studies have observed that the addition of swirl oxidizer flow can effectively reduce the combustion instability in hybrid rocket. Investigation was continued to analyze the effect of the swirl on the internal flow of hybrid rocket engine main combustion chamber. The flow influenced by wall blowing as a representation of fuel evaporation interacts with swirling flow. Swirl angle increases, the amplitude of the combustion pressure decrease as the unstable combustion processes. These results suggest that the oxidizer swirling flow by the swirl angle causes the change of the turbulent flow characteristics inside the combustion chamber and suppresses the factors causing the combustion instability.

  • Gas springs of the television is to control the piston speed when operating under along stroke(200~300 mm, television elevation)is possible. User by this principle is capable of elevation adjustment. First carried out a flow analysis of the piston. A piston speed adjustment technique for precise pipe type cross-section was examined. The piston structure for flow rate control and elevation action is proposed. This study is the development of a gas spring of more than 50 inch television with a large television stand. Hollow piston rod for optimal control(the outer diameter 19.9 mm, the inner diameter 13.9 mm) was injected into the nitrogen gas(0.3 mm/s) in. As a result, the flow rate the pressure drop of the piston rod as the increase was increased without any change of the external force. As a result, control of the displacement via the gas spring is possible.

  • Insert injection molding is a process in which molten plastic is injected into a mold that contains a pre-placed insert. During the injection stage, the insert can be deformed by the pressure applied by the polymer melts. The deformation of the insert changes the width of the flow path around the insert, which can cause several defects such as short shots or warpages of the parts. In order to reduce the deformation of the insert, it is important to achieve successful design of gating system, insert geometry, and molding conditions. In the present study, the insert deformations that occured during the injection molding of the BLDC motor stator were investigated by numerical analyses. The gate location and the insert shape were modified to reduce the insert deformation. Finally, the injection molding with the modified designs was carried out, and it was confirmed that the insert deformation was reduced.

  • In this study, simulation works have been performed for the modeling of $CO_2$ removal process contained in the DME production process through an absorber-stripper system using methanol aqueous solution. Aspen Plus release 7.3 in AspenTech company was utilized as a simulation tool and PC-SAFT modeling equation of state was used as a thermodynamic model. Fitting parameters built-in PC-SAFT model was determined by regressing experimental data, predicted results using PC-SAFT model were compared with experimental data in order to verify the exactness of the thermodynamic model. Optimization works have been performed to reduce the utility consumptions using solvent circulation rate, column operating pressure and feed stage location as manipulated variables.
