An Experimental Study on the Alkali-Recovery Performance of Impregnating Alkalization Agent for Deteriorated Concrete by Carbonation (침투성 알칼리성부여제 도포에 의한 중성화된 콘크리트의 알칼리성 회복성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The low-durability performance of concrete structure occurs by interactive deterioration factors. In particular, carbonation increased with its time elapse is known as the general manner of deterioration characteristics. Recently, the fundamental researches of the carbonation mechanism, besides method and technique for durability improvement of deteriorated structure are advanced actively. So in this paper, alkali-recovery and maintenance performance when the impregnating alkalization agents are used, are compared and examined quantitively with the basis of past proposed study. As a result, alkali-recovery performance be ensured by impregnating alkalization agent on the carbonated concrete which has low pH by accelerated carbonation test. And alkali maintenance performance was effected by the finishing materials on the alkali recovered concrete.

  • For the purpose of cut off and ground stabilization, water glass chemical grouting method using sodium silicate has problems of weakening durability and ground water pollution because leaching was conducted when the homogel is exposed to the ground water as time elapses. The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of alkali silica sol ground injection materials, it was compared with the sodium silicate ground injection materials using water glasses. For sodium silicate and alkali silica sol by mixing each case is divided into four different specimens were made and tested. The characteristic of alkali silica sol ground injection material was analyzed by unconfined compression test and environmental impact statement of ordinary portland cement and blast furnace slag cement. Alkali silica sol specimens were made mixing A-solution and B-solution in the proportion of one on one. Through this study, alkali silica sol ground injection mixing blast furnace slag cement has excellent strength and environment-friendly.

Effects of Alkaline Ionic Water and Grapefruit Seed Extract Added Immersion Solutions on Storage Characteristics of Mulberry Leaf Soybean Curd (침지액에 알칼리성 이온수 및 자몽종자추출물 첨가가 뽕잎두부의 저장성에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the acidity and turbidity changes of immersion solutions as well as changes in aerobic bacteria, E. coli, anaerobic bacteria, yeast and mold counts of mulberry leaf soybean curds during storages at $4^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$ in different immersion solutions such as distilled water, grapefruit seed extract (300 ppm) and alkaline ionic water. The acidities of immersion solutions of distilled water, grapefruit seed extract and alkaline ionic water after 18 days of storage at $4^{\circ}C$ were 0.021, 0.008 and 0.002%, respectively. After 5 days of storage at $25^{\circ}C$ were 0.042, 0.029 and 0.009%, respectively. The turbidities of the above mentioned immersion solutions were 0.50, 0.29 and 0.21 after 18 days of storage at $4^{\circ}C$ and 0.38, 0.34 and 0.27, respectively, after 5 days of storage at $25^{\circ}C$. The acidity and turbidity changes of immersion solutions were sensitive to storage temperatures. The aerobic bacteria count of mulberry leaf soybean curds after 18 days of storage at $4^{\circ}C$ was still below $10^7\;CFU/g$, the beginning point of soybean curd putrefaction; in contrast, this value was reached within one day in distilled water at $25^{\circ}C$ and between 2 and 3 days in alkaline ionic water. Grapefruit seed extract and alkaline ionic water had a better preservative effect at $4^{\circ}C$ than at $25^{\circ}C$ storage temperature.

Purification and Characterization of Thermotolerable Alkaline Protease by Alkalophilic Bacillus sp. No. 8-16 (알칼리성 Bacillus sp. No.8-16의 내열ㆍ알칼리성 단백질 분해효소의 정제와 특성)

  • Thermostable alkaline protease of alkalophilic Bacillus sp. No. 8-16 has been purified, and the properties of the enzyme investigated. The characteristic point of the organism used is especially good growth in alkaline and thermal condition. The alkaline protease of the strain No. 8-16 was purified from crude enzyme by acetone precipitation, CM-cellulose ion exchange chromatography, Sephadex G-100 and Sephadex G-75 gel filtration. Through the series of chromatograpies, the enzyme was purified to homogeneity with specific activity of 37 fold higher than that of the crude broth. Characteristics of the purified enzyme were as follow; $K_m$ value for the enzyme was 1.3 mg/ml, the alkaline protease showed a maximal activity at 7$0^{\circ}C$ and from the pH 6.0 through 12.0, and stable for 1 hr. at 6$0^{\circ}C$. The moleclar weight of the enzyme was estimated to be 33,000 by Sephadex G-100 gel filtration. The activity of the alkaline protease was inhibited by iodoacetic acid and Ag$^+$, Hg$^+$, PMSF (phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride), and activated by $Ca^{2+}$ and Mn$^{2+}$.

  • Alkaline sulfite-anthraquinone(AQ) cooking was examined for their effectiveness in delignification of pine (Pinus densiflora S. et Z.) bark. Better delignification was achieved with alkaline sulfite liquor compared to monosulfite liquor, but the degree of delignification was less than 90% indicating need for improvement in cooking method, Remarkable increase in the rate of cooking and delignification was obtained by the simple addition of AQ to the alkaline sulfite cooking, Selectivity of delignification was also improved by the addition of AQ, Consequently, 90% of delignification was achieved with the addition of 0.2% AQ to the alkaline sulfite cooking. The selectivity of delignification was slightly affected by cooking temperature and NaOH concentration during alkaline sulfite-AQ cooking of the bark. The selectivity of delignification was highly affected by the concentration of $Na_2SO_3$, and the optimum concentration of $Na_2SO_3$ for the high delignification was 30% as $Na_2O$.

  • As the effectiveness of ionic water that mainly used for the purpose of treatment has been widely known with the recent "well-being" trend, people's interest in it is also gradually increasing. Especially, the alkaline ionic water for drinking purpose could conveniently provide different types/amount of inorganics required for different dietary life depending on nature and race, could effectively provide alkaline inorganics that could be insufficient to modern Korean people, and also could provide alkaline inorganics that prevent/cure/relieve pregnant women's morning sickness. Applying the suggested performance/manufacturing method of alkaline ionic water through the performance assessment of alkaline electrolytic ionic water of the developed product, it would be necessary to have additional researches on the improvement of product or parallel development that could be applied to diverse areas.

  • In the previous paper(Kim et al, 1986), the alkaline proteinase from the pyloric caeca of mackerel was shown relatively strong activity in the alkaline pH range. Therefore purification of the enzyme has been undertaken to identify the proteolytic enzyme and three alkaline proteinases were isolated by ammonium sulfate fractionation, DEAE-Sephadex A-50 column chromatography and Sephadex G-100 gel filtration. One percent sodium chloride solution was the most effective for the extraction of alkaline proteinase from the pyloric caeca of mackerel. Three alkaline proteinases temporarily designated Enz. A, B and C were isolated from the pyloric caeca of mackerel, and identified to be homogeneous with electrophoresis. The specific activity of the purified Enz. A, B and C was increased to 34, 53 and 37-fold over the crude enzyme solution, respectively. Yield of them was 1.6, 2.1 and $1.5\%$, respectively, and a combined yield was $5.2\%$.

  • This research have investigated the application and the injection effect of the alkaline silicasol grouting materia (which is) recently developed. To compare the engineering characteristics of the alkaline silicasol which is formed with 3D-gel and the sodium silicate, it have studied the strength and environmental effects through the laboratory test, and field application was investigated with a review of the injection effect and waterproof through the field test. As a result of the laboratory test, unconfined compression strength of alkaline silicasol was 5 times more than sodium silicate. As a result of the leaching test, a total amount of the eluviated elements was very small, it considered the environment-friendly material. As a result of the field test, considerable reduction of the coefficient of permeability at the hydraulic layer was confirmed, and it could secure that the coefficient of permeability showed a lower than standard value of $10^{-5}cm/sec$.

  • An alkaline amylase-producing Bacillus sp. GM8901 was isolated and some properties of crude enzyme extract were examined. The microbiological and biochemical characteristics of GM8901 were very similar to those of B. licheniformis. The optimal temperature and pH for the cell growth and amylase production were $50^{\circ}C$ and pH 10.5. The crude amylase extract showed that the optimal temperature and pH were $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C\;and\;pH\;10{\sim}12$, respectively, and that the activity of amylase was stable up to $50^{\circ}C$ and in the range of $pH\;3{\sim}12$.
