We proposed a novel feed structure for a broadband circular slot antenna. The proposed antenna has a circular slot, a radiating element, and a novel microstrip feed structure which is composed of a 50 Ω microstrip feedline and a circular-shaped microstrip patch. This antenna is analyzed and optimized by using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The impedance bandwidth of optimized antenna is 1.94 octave that is much broader than the conventional microstrip slot antennas.

In this letter, a compact rectangular spiral antenna is proposed. Instead of a center excitation of conventional spiral antennas, the proposed antenna is adopted a modified feed network, feeding at the end of the spiral. The matching circuit of $'{\sqsupset}'$ shape is added at the feeding point. With this matching circuit, we can easily match the input impedance well, without the limit of the space. The parameter which determines the circular wave characteristic is explained, and the design guideline of the proposed antenna is presented. We design a proposed antenna operating at 9.5 GHz. Its size is only $0.6\lambda_g\times0.6\lambda_g$. The simulated bandwidth of the input impedance $(S11\leq-10)$ is 8.12% and that of $(AR\leq-3)$ is 4.62%, which is excellent characteristics as compared to its simple structure.

In this paper, a reconfigurable polarization patch antenna that uses a Y-shaped feed is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a square patch, a Y-shaped feeding structure, a PIN diode, and a bias circuit for diode operation. The structural symmetry/asymmetry of the feeding structure is determined by the on/off operation of the PIN diode that inserted into the side of one of the lines of the Y-shaped feeding structure. For the proposed reconfigurable antenna, the two microstrip lines of the feeding structure have the same length when the PIN diode operates in the on state, and the antenna exhibits linear polarization(LP). On the other hand, when the PIN diode operates in the off state, the length of one side line of the feeding structure is relatively shorter than that of the other line. Therefore, the antenna exhibits circular polarization(CP). From the measurement results, it is found that the proposed antenna exhibits good impedance matching and axial ratio. In addition, polarization switching can be easily achieved in the same operating band.

This paper propose the printed inverted-F antenna using the coupling feed for the mobile phone. The coupling feed can normally leads the additional capacitances in the antenna, so the high inductive reactance of the antenna can be partly compensated. In this paper, it is shown that the bandwidth of the proposed antenna using the coupling feed is improved at $824{\sim}960$ MHz and $1,710{\sim}2,390$ MHz. Then it is compared with the simple direct feed to confirm the improvement of the bandwidth. The proposed antenna covers GSM850/GSM950/DCS/USPCS/WCDMA/Wibro and has the maximum gain of -$4.794{\sim}1.648$ dBi and shows omnidirectional patterns over the operating bands.

In this paper, the aperture-coupled U-slot microstrip patch antenna is studied for the bandwidth improvement. The aperture is used as a mechanism for coupling the radiating element to the microstrip feedline, and the aperture-coupled configuration provides the advantage of isolating spurious feed radiation by the use of common ground plane. Experimental results such as return loss, VSWR, radiation pattern and gain measurements are presented on the aperture-coupled U-slot microstrip patch antenna. The impedance bandwidth (VSWR≤2) of the antenna is 6.4% centered at 2.35GHz, and the average gain is 5.3 dBi.

We design and fabricate slot array antenna for BMWS(Broadband Multimedia Wireless System) applications. This paper presents a simple feed structure, which consists of two horns and a parallel-plate waveguide, because antennas operating at 40.5 GHz~43.5 GHz have considerable feeding losses. The simple feed structure has the advantages of high-efficiency and mass-production. The fabricated antenna has a gain of 25.8 dBi with a sidelobe level below -18 ㏈ and a 3 ㏈ beamwidth of approximately 3$^{\circ}$ in the E-plane. In case of H-plane, a 3 ㏈ beamwidth is 17$^{\circ}$ and a sidelobe level is suppressed to below -27 ㏈. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results. The authors expect that narrow 3 ㏈ beamwidth is obtained by combining a few proposed slot array antennas in parallel.

The L-shaped strip is shown to be an attractive feed for the thick mierostrip antenna (thickness around 10% of the operating wavelength). The L-strip incorporated with the radiating patch introduces a capacitance suppressing some of the inductance introduced by the strip itself. In this paper, a wideband microstrip patch antenna fed by L-strip for the PCS ($1,750{\sim}1,850MHz$) and IMT-2000 ($1,920{\sim}2,170MHz$) broad-band is presented. A two-element array fed by L-strip is also proposed. Both the antennas have stable radiation patterns across the passband. The impedance bandwidth is over 31% (VSWR < 1.5, 615 MHz) of the center frequency. Moreover, both the antennas have about 7 dBi average gain.

In this paper, we have studied the improvement of gain and bandwidth characteristics by using double feeding and L-shaped inset feed line matching circuit in microstrip stacked patch antenna which is widely used to broaden the gain of general microstrip antenna. The proposed structure is composed of two feeding edges of the main patch antenna, each of them are connected to a feeding line having an L shaped inset feeder. And the parasitic patch is placed at a proper distance above the main patch. The size of the main patch is designed so that the resonance frequency is close to the center frequency of the target frequency band. The experimental results show that the bandwidth was increased more than 180MHz in the 2.3-2.7 GHz band, which is more interesting than the single feed, and the gain improvement of 2.5dBi was obtained at 2.7GHz.

In this paper, the novel patch antenna for polarization diversity using switching element is presented. The proposed antenna consists of the square patch with a pair of truncated corners and a microstrip-feed line with power divider. A switching microstrip-line feed works at schottky diode ON / OFF that is placed at $\lambda$/4 point from branch-off point of power divider. Polarization diversity has two types(LHCP. RHCP) as switching the schottky diodes. The measured 3 ㏈ axial ratio bandwidth for switching operation is about 2 %.
