A Study on the Sensitivity Analysis of Ship Mooring Evaluation Factors According to Sea Level Rise in Mokpo Port (목포항 해수면 상승에 따른 선박 계류평가요소의 민감도 분석 연구)

  • Sea level rise due to global warming is accelerating. According to the IPCC survey, the expected sea level rise in 2100 was analyzed to be 47cm in the low-carbon scenario (SSP 1-2.6) and 82cm in the high-carbon scenario (SSP 5-8.5). Sea level rise can cause serious damage to port infrastructure and reduce the safety of ships docked inside ports. In this study, Mokpo Port, which frequently suffers from flooding during high tide, was selected and the sensitivity of mooring evaluation factors was analyzed for actual berthing ships according to sea level rise scenarios. From the analysis, we found that the tension of mooring line, the load of bollard, vertical angle of mooring line, and ship's motion of 6-DOF, which are evaluation factors, generally increased when the sea level increased. The most sensitive evaluation factor was sway motion of 6-DOF. Also, we analyzed that the value of mooring evaluation factors decreased when the crown height was raised. This was beneficial in improving ship and pier safety. The results of this study can be used as basic data to secure measures to improve port and ship safety according to sea level rise in Mokpo Port.

Estimation on Filling Performance of Thixotropic Grout for Increasing Front-Water Depth of Gravity-Type Quay Wall (중력식 안벽 구조물의 증심 시공을 위한 가소성 그라우트의 충진성능 평가)

  • Recently, as the size of transportation vessels has increased, there is a growing need for securing the front-water depths of existing port facilities. The method of deepening front-water depth is securing the depth of the port facility, and it is reinforced by grouting after excavating the rubble-mound to the required depth. The purpose of this study is to investigate the reinforcing performance and filling performance of thixotropic grout as a grouting material for reinforcing rubble-mound. Compressive strength tests were carried out for two types of thixotropic grout, and 5 specimens with a diameter of 400 mm and a height of 530 mm were manufactured and evaluated for filling performance. The required strength of reinforced rubble-mound required to ensure the safety of the structure is 6 MPa. All the thixotropic grouts used in this study were found to satisfy the required strength over 9 MPa at 7 days of age. As a result of visual observation of filling state of the filling performance test specimens, it was confirmed that the thixotropic grout was well filled up to the desired fillet height.

Experiment on Track-keeping Performance using Free Running Model Ship (모형 선박을 이용한 선박 침로유지 실험 연구)

  • This research presents an analysis of algorithm for ship track-keeping along a given trajectory. The maneuver of a free running model ship guiding through a simple path are presented. In order to solve the above problem, a desired trajectory is usually determined by GPS points in a pre-fixed place then these points are set in a pre-programmed navigation so that the ship would be automatically tracked. Proportional-Derivative(PD) control which is useful for fast response controllers was used in this program as a course keeping system. A high accuracy GPS receiver was installed on the model ship that could provide positions frequently, the system will compare and give out the remaining distance and heading to the target way-point. The results of ship auto track-keeping experiment will be explained in order to illustrate the adjustment in controlling parameters. These results can be utilized as a preliminary step to carry out the experiment of ship collision avoidance system and automatic berthing in the future.

Path-following Control for Autonomous Navigation of Marine Vessels Considering Disturbances (외력을 고려한 선박의 자율운항을 위한 경로추종 제어)

  • Path-following control is considered as one of the most fundamental skills to realize autonomous navigation of marine vessels in the ocean. This study addresses with the path-following control for a ship in which there are environmental disturbances in the directions of the surge, sway, and yaw motions. The guiding principle and back-stepping method was utilized to solve the ship's tracking problem on the reference path generated by a virtual ship. For path-following control, error dynamics is one of the most important skills, and it extends to the research fields of automatic collision avoidance and automatic berthing control. The algorithms for the guiding principles and error variables have been verified by numerical simulation. As a result, most error variables converged to zero values with the controller except for the yaw angle error. One of the most interesting results is that the tracking errors of path-following control between two ships are smaller than the existing safe passing distances considering interaction forces from near passing ships. Moreover, a trade-off between tracking performance and the ship's safety should be considered for determining the proper control parameters to prevent the destructive failure of actuators such as propellers, fins, and rudders during the path-following of marine vessels.

  • More than half of barges have been surveyed and designated as an "unmanned barge". The main advantage of the unmanned barge is that it can carry more cargo equivalent to 25 percent of freeboard compared to that of a manned barge. In contrast, it needs an onboard crew barge because the bargeman is in charge of several tasks during sailing such as mooring or unmooring barges to or from a wharf, dropping and heaving up an anchor and turning on and of navigational lights and shapes. The instant recognition is that a tug assume the responsibility of operating a barge; however, different situations exist in which the shipper, as the operator of the barge, hires a tug. Although a tug might be a carrier of a barge under a specific contract, the master of the tug should fulfill his duty to complete its voyage. Most masters are not provided with the particulars of a barge and the information regarding the bargemen onboard, which is believed not to respect the master's authority and lead to an unintended violation of relevant laws. This paper presents three recommendations for resolving these issues: the policy approach for changing unmanned barges to manned barges, issuing a minimum safe manning certificate, and providing the master of tug information on the barge and the crew onboard. Thus, the proposed approach can be expected to improve the crew's working conditions, diminish the violation of the maximum number of persons onboard the barge, and ensure the authority of the master of tug through such recommendations.

A Study on the Arrangement of Mooring system at the Quay-type LNG terminal in Ulsan Port (울산항 안벽식 LNG 터미널의 계류시스템 배치에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, the interest in eco-friendly energy sources, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), has considerably increased both domestically and internationally, and the development of LNG-handling facilities and berths is actively underway. Ulsan Port has been selected as a Northeast Asian oil and energy hub and is actively developing LNG and oil storage facilities and berths. The LNG terminal currently under construction in the North Port district of Ulsan New Port is a quay-type terminal rather than a dolphin-type terminal, which is the existing main-pier type. However, no domestic or international design standards for the mooring-system arrangement of quay-type LNG terminals exist. Therefore, in this study, to establish design standards for mooring systems for quay-type LNG terminals, we developed a pier that reflected the dolphin-type mooring system arrangement in the Harbour and Fishery Design Criteria and analyzed the sensitivity of mooring-evaluation parameter for actual target berthing vessels. The results showed that, compared to the mooring system arrangement of the existing quay-type pier, the tension of the mooring line, load of the QRH, reaction force of the fender, and ship motion of 6-DOF were generally reduced under the same environmental conditions, which are beneficial for improving ship and pier safety. The results of this study offer a foundation for developing design standards for quay-type LNG terminals.

Method for Increasing Stability by Reducing the Motion of a Lightweight Floating Body (경량 부유체의 운동 저감으로 안정성 증가방법에 관한 연구)

  • Demand for leisure facilities such as mooring facilities for berthing leisure vessels and floating pensions based on floating bodies is increasing owing to the rapid growth of the population and related industries for marine leisure activities. Owing to its relatively light weight as a fluid, inclination is easily generated by waves and surcharges flowing to the coast, resulting in frequent safety accidents because of the low stability. As a solution to this problem, a motion reduction device for floating bodies is proposed in this study. The device (motion reduction device based on the air pressure dif erence) was attached to a floating body and the effect was analyzed by comparing the results with those of a floating body without motion reduction. The effect analysis was further analyzed using a computer analysis test, and the method for increasing the stability of the floating body was studied, and its the effect was verified. Based on the analysis of the test results, the stability of the floating body increased with a motion damping device is higher than that of the floating body without a motion reducing device as the wave momentum reduces, owing to the air pressure difference. Therefore it was concluded that the use of such a device for reducing motion a floating body is useful not only for non-powered ships but also for powered and semi-submersible ships, and further research should be conducted by applying it to various fields.

  • Most recently, environmental problems arise from management waste tires by increasing number of automobiles. Waste tires are not compressible and not easy for degradation in landfill. Even if it were landfill, it is difficult to treat. Total amount of waste tires is about 20 million per year and the collection is 68.6% in this country. Structure of slope stability using waste tire blocks filled with concrete increases durability, reduce construction period, and it can be utilized as an example. Therefore, it reduces the volume of waste and recycles waste. Also, it prevents the air pollution due to the incineration and creates economic value.

  • 항만건설에 있어서 항만의 내부시설 중에서 무엇보다도 가장 중요한 시설물은 선박을 안전하게 접안시켜 하역할 수 있는 안벽시설물이다. 안벽구조 형식의 결정은 항만의 이용목적 등에 따라서 달라지지만 항만의 건설입지조건 등에 의해서도 달라진다. 안벽구조형식 중에서 잔교 식 안벽은 무엇보다도 단기간에 건설이 용이하여 지금까지 각국에서 널리 사용되어 왔고 장래에도 이용도가 증가되리라 생각한다. 최근에는 해안선을 이용한 위락시설이 건설되면서 잔교 식 안벽구조물을 설치하여 보조시설물로 이용하는 경우가 많다. 과거에 설계되어 잔교를 설계할 경우는 일반적으로 항내의 정온이 잘 유지되는 경우에 대해서 설치하는 경우가 많기 때문에 파랑에 의한 반사율과 잔교 상부에 작용하는 양압력을 고려해야할 필요성이 거의 없었다. 그러나 최근에는 태풍이 내습할 경우 기존의 항내로 높은 파랑이 침입하는 경우가 발생하고 있어 항내에서도 잔교의 파괴로 인한 자연재해가 대형화되는 경우가 발생하고 있다. 또, 처음부터 안벽을 설계할 때에 대형화의 잔교 식 안벽구조물을 설치하는 경우도 있다. 이런 잔교 식 안벽 구조물을 잔교의 상부 판에 작용하는 양압력 분포와 잔교 전면의 반사율 등이 구조물의 유지관리 등에 미치는 영향이 매우 크기 때문에 반사율 검토와 양압력을 고려한 설계가 필요하다. 본연구의 대상은 일정 해역에 잔교 식 안벽을 설계하고자 할때 최적의 안벽 설계가 될 수 있도록 수리모형실험을 실시하여 구조물의 안전과 항내정온에 기초가 되는 자료를 도출하고자 하였다. 따라서 본 수리모형실험으로 인한 연구는 잔교 식 안벽에 대한 반사율과 상부에 작용하는 양압력, 잔교말뚝(pile)에 작용하는 수평압력을 검토하여 잔교 식 안벽 설계에 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 혈청을 이용한 동결보존을 대체할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.지에 더해주면 세포의 증식이 개선될 것이다. 그래서 몇 가지 첨가물을 이용해 세포의 증식력에 변화가 나타나는지 알아보았다. 첨가물을 이용한 실험에서 IGF-I의 경우 장기간 배양에서 세포의 수를 안정적으로 유지하고 계대 횟수를 증가시키는 효과를 보였다. 이는 IGF-I이 어느정도 세포의 증식을 유지시켜주는 역할을 하기 때문인 것으로 생각된다. 무혈청 배지에서 비적응 CHO 세포의 계대 배양에 한계가 있는 것은 세포주기가 멈추기 때문인 것으로 생각된다. 세포주기가 멈추는 growth factor와 같이 세포의 증식을 지속적으로 유도할 수 있는 물질이 무혈청 배지에서는 부족하기 때문인 것으로 생각되고, IGF-I과 같은 첨가물을 통해 극복할 수 있는 문제라고 여겨진다.관점과 주거교육가치관 요소와의 관계를 알아본 결과, 전통적 관점은 주거교육가치관 요소 중 오직 주거관리적 요소와 관계가 있었으나 그 정도는 낮으며 실천적 관점과 구조적 관점은 주거가치관의 각 요소에 따라 약간 다르기는 했으나 주로 보통의 관계를 보였다.군 순으로 높게 관찰되었다. 이상의 결과를 종합할 때, 임상에서 니켈-티타늄 합금 와이어에 굴곡을 부여하기 위해 열처리하는 경우 초탄성 특성은 유지될 수 있으나, 부하-변위 곡선의 상방 증가가 나타나므로, 와이어에 의한 교정력이 증가될 수 있음에 유의하여야 한다. $day^{-1}$인 인공습지), scenario 2(면적 4.2ha인 저류지)가 각각 연평균 6.9%, 4.8%, 7.1%의 감소를 보였다. The Spatial Distribution of Harmful Chemical Substance in Sediment Around Busan Southern Port (부산 남항 해저퇴적물 중 유기오염물질 분포 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Located mostly inside the megacity of Busan, the Busan Southern Port is a multifunctional port with various nearby industry activities, including a joint fish market, ship repair facilities, and fishing boat facilities. If toxic chemicals generated by the industrial activities continue to flow into and accumulate in the sediment of the port, they can affect aquatic ecosystems and humans. Therefore, in this study, distribution levels and potential influent sources of organic pollutants, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and butyltin compounds (BTs), in the sediment were investigated. The sediment samples were collected from eight sampling sites in November 2013 (first phase) and November 2014 (second phase). The mean concentrations of PAHs, PCBs, and BTs in the first and second sampling phages were 4174.0 ng/g-dry wt. and 1919.0 ng/g-dry wt., 166.3 ng/g-dry wt. and 21 ng/g-dry wt., and 50.9 ng/g-dry wt. and 30.8 ng/g-dry wt., respectively. The concentrations of the organic pollutants detected in the seabed sediments were lower in the second phase than in the first phase. In this study, the inflow sources of PAHs, PCBs, and BTs were found to be combustion, land, and municipal sewage or industrial wastewater, respectively.
