Daegu citizens' perceptions and factors affecting behavioral intentions to reduce sugars in the coffee shop beverages (커피전문점 음료의 당류 줄이기에 대한 대구시민의 인식 및 행동의도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to provide baseline data for establishing a sugar reduction policy at coffee shops by analyzing the factors that affect a coffee shop user's perception and behavioral intention of reducing sugar intake. Methods: An online survey was conducted involving 1,274 Daegu citizens aged 19-49 years, who had visited coffee shops within the last month. Results: When visiting a coffee shop, the purchase of sweet drinks was higher in the younger age group, and the addition of syrup or sugar was higher in the older age group. Of the total respondents, 42.1% were aware that some coffee shops accommodate reduced sugar requests, 57.9% perceived the need to reduce sugar in coffee shop beverages and 22.3% had purchased beverages intending to reduce their sugar intake. In addition, 59.7% knew about sugar nutrition labeling, and 68.8% perceived the need for nutrition labeling for sugar. When purchasing beverages, 35.6% checked the nutrition labeling, and 77.2% purchased alternative drinks when the sugar content was high. Guiding the choice of sweetness levels in coffee shop orders was seen to have the highest effectiveness and intention to reduce sugar intake. Moreover, the perceived need to reduce sugar intake had the most positive effect on the behavioral intention to reduce sugars in coffee shop beverages (β = 0.558, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Although the overall awareness and practice of reducing the sugar intake in coffee shop users were low, the behavioral intention to reduce sugars was positive, and this was most affected by the perception of the need to reduce sugars. Therefore, there is a need for differentiated education and promotion for each age group for recognizing the necessity and outlining methods for reducing sugar intake. Furthermore, coffee shops should reflect customer's sugar reduction needs.

An Arrangement Method of Voice and Sound Feedback According to the Operation : For Interaction of Domestic Appliance (조작 방식에 따른 음성과 소리 피드백의 할당 방법 가전제품과의 상호작용을 중심으로)

  • The ways to interact with digital appliances are becoming more diverse. Users can control appliances using a remote control and a touch-screen, and appliances can send users feedback through various ways such as sound, voice, and visual signals. However, there is little research on how to define which output method to use for providing feedback according to the user' input method. In this study, we designed an experimental study that seeks to identify how to appropriately match the output method - voice and sound - based on the user input - voice and button. We made four types of interaction with two kinds input methods and two kinds of output methods. For the four interaction types, we compared the usability, perceived satisfaction, preference and suitability. Results reveals that the output method affects the ease of use and perceived satisfaction of the input method. The voice input method with sound feedback was evaluated more satisfying than with the voice feedback. However, the keying input method with voice feedback was evaluated more satisfying than with sound feedback. The keying input method was more dependent on the output method than the voice input method. We also found that the feedback method of appliances determines the perceived appropriateness of the interaction.

The results of geologic landscape utilization research and its facing problem. (지질경관 활용에 관한 연구 성과와 과제)

  • 우리들은 초 중등교육을 통해 암석의 종류와 특징, 지질형태와 퇴적구조, 그리고 화석에 대해 지속적으로 교육 받아왔다. 그러나 암석이나 노두를 보고 학교에서 배운 지식을 바르게 적용할 수 있는 학생은 매우 드물다. 또한 아름다운 경관을 보며 지질학적으로 형성과정을 해석할 수 있는 사람도 매우 드물 것이다. 여기서는 지질경관에 대한 정보를 어떻게 제공하고 있는가에 대한 연구 성과를 정리해보고 문제점을 도출하고자 한다. 현재까지 지질경관을 알려주는 연구 성과를 크게 나누면 3종류가 있다. 첫째, 지질학습장의 개발 및 활용에 관한 연구이다. 이 부류의 수집된 자료는 학위논문(29편)과 전문학술지(27편)로 현재 56편이나 검색에 따라 더 늘어날 것이다. 이들은 야외 노두에 대한 효과적인 지질학습을 위한 자료개발을 위주로 하고 있다. 이러한 내용들은 전문가 양성에는 대단히 좋은 프로그램이지만 청소년이나 일반대중들에게 너무 어려운 내용으로 구성되어 있다. 또한 교육청에서 주관하는 탐방계획으로 "경기도 지구과학교사 연구회"가 있는데, 주로 경기도 한탄강유역을 대상으로 하고 있다. 이 연구회 자료에서는 지역의 특성을 살린 야외지질학습장을 개발하고 현장에 적용하기 위한 노력을 볼 수가 있다. 두 번째로 과학전람회 자료로서 현장교사와 학생들의 야외학습에 대한 인식이 잘 나타나 있다. 수집된 자료는 총 55편으로 야외지질조사를 통해 관찰 자체에 중점을 두었는데, 최근에는 노두관찰에 덧붙여 탐구학습 태도와 창의성을 함양하는 쪽으로 옮겨가고 있다. 세 번째 자료는 일반대중을 위한 서적이다. 이 서적들은 저자들의 전공에 따라 그 내용이 다소 다르다. 즉 일반여행안내 책자는 노두나 암석은 소개하고 있으나 지질학적 설명이 전혀없으며(예, 남도해안 2000리), 지리학자들의 저술에는 지형의 형성을 지질학적으로 설명하려 애쓴 흔적이 보인다(예, 한국지리이야기). 다음으로 지구과학들의 저술은 전형적인 지질답사 안내서에 가까워 내용 자체는 좋으나 흥미가 다소 떨어진다(예, 가족이 함께 떠나는 지질여행, 제주도 지질여행). 지질학과 흥미를 적절히 혼합한 책으로 '우리 땅 과학 답사기'정도가 있다. 최근 한국암석학회에서는 "우리의 명산"을 지질과 경관의 관점에서 해석하려는 심포지엄을 2차례 가졌다. 그러나 그 내용면에서는 경관지질이라는 개념을 정립했다고 보기에는 다소 미흡 하나, 황상구 교수의 주왕산에 관한 내용은 앞으로 경관지질 연구에 대한 발전의 여지를 보여주었다. 앞으로 지질경관에 대하여 지질학적 야외답사나 과학지식 습득에 국한시키지 말고, 그 지역의 특성을 살린 관광 또는 민속과 연계하여 지구과학적 학습효과와 더불어 인성교육에 도움이 되는 학습 콘텐츠를 개발하도록 노력해야 할 것이다. 일반 대중이 우리나라의 빼어난 지질 경관을 손쉽게 이해하고 즐기게 되면, 세계자연유산이나 세계지질공원을 지정 받는 과정도 더 쉬워질 것이다.

Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Maternal Immunization with Tetanus Toxoid, Reduced Diphtheria Toxoid, and Aellular Pertussis (Tdap) among Pregnant Women (임신 중 Tdap 접종에 대한 임부들의 인식, 태도 및 행동)

  • Purpose: Despite effectiveness and safety of maternal tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination, Tdap vaccination coverage during pregnancy remains quite low. We assessed the knowledge, attitude and practice on maternal Tdap vaccination among pregnant women. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey of pregnant women who visited tertiary obstetrics and gynecologic units in Seoul and Gyeonggi province of Korea. Individual questionnaires were administered to assess knowledge, attitude and practice on maternal immunization with Tdap. Results: The questionnaires were completed by 184 pregnant women; 158 (86%) had not received information from doctors about pertussis and Tdap, and 166 (90%) did not know the need for Tdap vaccination. Only 7% of pregnant women unlikely to receive Tdap vaccine during current pregnancy answered 3 or more of the 5 knowledge-based questions correctly. By logistic regression analysis, recommendation by doctor (adjusted odd ratio [OR], 236.2; 95% confidence interval [CI], 12.6-4,432), belief that the vaccine is effective (adjusted OR, 40.21; 95% CI, 2.35-687.7), and belief that the vaccine is safe (adjusted OR, 19.83; 95% CI, 1.54-255.9) were significantly important factors to respondents' intention to be vaccinated. Conclusions: Most pregnant women seem to be neither recommended nor adequately informed about Tdap vaccination. Information given by health care professionals is very important to increase Tdap coverage among pregnant women.

The Case of Industrial Factory Wastewater Treatment and Reusing by Using of Constructed Wetland (식물정화조를 이용한 공업용 폐수의 정화 및 재활용 사례)

  • Constructed wetland was built for industrial factory wastewater treatment with environmentally sound method from July to October, 2000. Ultimately this case study was carried out to conserve water quality of river and underground water and to provide wildlife habitat and rest place for people in the industrial area. The size of constructed wetland was 10m$\times$6m (upper area) with a treatment capacity of 2.5㎥ per day. It was supplied with wastewater 0.625㎥ at intervals of six hours. Vertical flow system was chosen to promote efficiency. Draining layer was built one meter in soil depth out of sand mixed with pebbles in a ratio of two to one. Perennial emergent plants, Phragmites communis, Typha orientalis, Juncus effusus, Iris pseudoacorus, 20 individuals per square meter were planted. In the aspect of reusing, eco-pond was created for increasing biological species diversity and also deck and information signboard were established for the education of environment. As the result of monitoring, it was revealed that the constructed wetland was effective in removal of BOD$_{5}$, COD, T-N, T-P and has being gradually improved as a wildlife habitat(biotope).

Developing a Subset Sum Problem based Puzzle Game for Learning Mathematical Programming (수리계획법 학습을 위한 부분집합총합문제 기반 퍼즐 게임 개발)

  • In recent, much attention has been paid to the educational serious games that provide both fun and learning effects. However, most educational games have been targeted at the infants and children, and it is still hard to use such games in higher education. On the contrary, this paper aims to develop an educational game for teaching mathematical programming to the undergraduates. It is well known that most puzzle games can be transformed into associated optimization problem and vice versa, and this paper proposes a simple educational game based on the subset sum problem. This game enables the users to play the puzzle and construct their own mathematical programming model for solving it. Moreover, the users are provided with appropriate instructions for modeling and their models are evaluated by using the data automatically generated. It is expected that the educational game in this paper will be helpful for teaching basic programming models to the students in industrial engineering or management science.

The Educational Application of the Ecotour Resources in the Gumho-river Basin (금호강 유역 생태관광자원의 교육적 활용방안)

  • This paper aims to explore the geographic characteristics of ecotour resources in Gumho-river basin and to study the educational application of ecotour resources. To grasp the characteristics of ecotour resources in Gurnho-basin, this research carried out a literature review about Gumho-river basin and arranged ecotour resources by different types. Ecotour resources are divided into geomorphic and geologic resources, plant communities, wildlife habitats, cultural and historical resources, regional events with eco-resources. The case studies of New Zealand present good examples of how to successfully use the ecotour goals as a educational applications to Korea. The ecotourism in Korea has not still achieved the real benefits which meet environmental conservation, regional economic advantages and educational effects. Thus, the ecotour programmes should be include entrance limitations, strict opening time schedules, natural trails, museums for study, boards for study, well trained information officers and guides organized by residents. In addition, the local residents prepare of winter programmes for sustainable economic advantages.

Daegaya History Experience Festival of 2005-2006: Marketing Perspective (역사문화축제의 마케팅적 접근: 대가야체험축제의 2005-2006년 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the visitors' satisfaction with the Daegaya History Experience Festival and to provide practical implications to festival planners. Some important results of this study were as following. First, educational effectiveness had the highest satisfaction among visitors. Second, picking strawberries was founded as the most favored family oriented experience and experiencing the Daegaya vessel was perceived as the next layered program. Third, This festival provided pay experiences to the visitors including drawing bronze age rocks on the visitors' faces and Daegaya vessel making. Fourth, this festival achieved specializing of volunteers and increased satisfaction of guides. For future study, it is necessary to do empirical studies including investigating the determinant factors of festival visitors' satisfaction and behavioral intentions.

Development of Semi-automatic Cabbage Piling System for Tractor Implemented Chinese Cabbage Hervester (트랙터 부착형 배추 수확기용 반자동식 배추 적재시스템 개발)

  • 배추 생산에 있어서 수확, 운반, 적재 작업은 가장 노동이 집약적으로 요구되는 작업들이다. 최근, 여러 종류의 양배추 수화기가 일본과 유럽에서 개발되었다. 하지만 국내에서 재래되는 배추는 크기와 형태에 있어 양배추와는 달라 기 개발 기종의 도입이 어렵다. 또한 수확작업의 생력화 효과는 운반, 정선, 적재 작업과 밀접하게 연계되어 있어 출하시의 작업체계를 고려하여 수화에 따른 수집.반출 시스템을 개발하여야 한다. 수확시의 배추는 중량이 25~45 N 정도로 다 작물에 비하여 무겁고 부피가 크기 때문에 수확작업의 기계화를 위해서는 수확장치와 더불어 연속적으로 수확되는 배추를 적절하게 수집하여 적재하고 반출하는 시스템의 개발이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 수확작업의 생력화 효과를 높이고 생력화 시스템 비용의 절감을 목적으로 작업자 1인에 의해 작업할 수 있는 반자동 형태의 트랙터 부착형 배추 수집, 적재, 반출시스템 시작기를 개발하였다. 시작기는 배추 이송장치, 적재장치, 팔렛 및 반출장치의 3개 부분과 PLC를 이용한 주 제어기로 구성하였다. 배추 수집용기로는 대략 70개의 배추를 담을 수 있는 크기가 1,050 mm$\times$1.050mm$\times$1,000mm 인 접이식 메쉬 팔렛을 사용하였으며 하단부에 롤러 안내판을 부착하여 적재한 팔렛의 배출이 용이하도록 하였다. 팔렛을 제외한 전체 시작기의 중량은 235 N 이였으며 크기는 3,940mm$\times$520mm$\times$1,630mm 이었다. 본 연구는 수확장치의 기능 및 생력화 효과를 극대화하고 배추의 손상정도를 최소화하는 시스템을 구성하고자 하였다. 이송장치는 트랙터 부착시 횡공간 점유율을 최소화하도록 하였으며 적재장치는 적재시 배추의 손상을 줄이고 배추가 놓이는 자세를 능동적으로 조절할 수 있도록 주름관을 부착하였다. 시작기의 실내시험 결과 이송장치는 0.18 m/s~0.36 m/s의 범위에서 적재장치는 0.4 m/s~2.4 m/s 범위에서 안정적으로 구동하였으며 두 장치를 동시에 구동하여 시험한 결과 이송장치는 0.26 m/s~0.36 m/s, 그리고 적재장치는 0.9 m/s~2.4 m/s 에서 적정하게 안정적으로 구동하였다. 적재장치의 성능에 있어서 1~3단 적재시에는 주름관을 이용하여 적재하고 4~5단 적재시에는 자유낙하에 의한 적재를 수행할 경우 인력에 의한 적재와 거의 동등한 적재량을 보였으며 손상정도는 거의 무시할 정도였다. 트랙터가 0.3 m/s로 주행하는 경우 노지로부터 배추를 뽑아 이송하는 뽑기벨트의 적정속도가 0.46 m/s인 점을 고려할 때 배추 이송 컨베이어는 0.34 m/s 이상의 속도를 유지할 필요가 있었으며 적재 컨베이어는 2 m/s~2.4 m/s의 속도에서 안정적으로 작동하였다. 배추의 주간 거리가 대략 30~40 cm 인 점을 감안하면 적재장치는 초당 1개의 적재성능을 보였다. 실내에서 수행한 시스템의 성능은 배추에 큰 손상없이 전반적으로 성공적으로 구동하였으나 향후 노면이 고르지 못한 포장에서의 성능 시험이 필요하다.

Current status of dietary education in elementary, middle and high school in Gyeonggi province: Comparison according to school level and placement of nutrition teacher (경기도 초·중·고등학교의 식생활 교육 현황 : 학교급 및 영양교사 배치여부에 따른 비교)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of dietary education carried out by dieticians or nutrition teachers at elementary, middle, and high schools in Gyeonggi province. We compared dietary education status not only among school level but also between dieticians and nutrition teachers. Methods: The survey using self-administered questionnaires was conducted by dieticians or nutrition teachers at 91 schools (43 elementary schools, 33 middle schools, and 15 high schools) in Gyeonggi province in December, 2015. The questionnaire consisted of questions regarding general characteristics of respondents, current status of dietary education, opinion about dietary education methods, and cooperation level of persons concerned. Results: The placement rate of nutrition teachers was 50.5% overall. Only 36 out of 91 schools conducted regular dietary education, and the percentage of schools conducting regular dietary education was significantly different according to school level with the lowest percentage in high schools, equivalent to 20% (p = 0.003). The average annual dietary education time was 12.4 hours, and it was very low in high schools (5.1 hours) and in schools without a nutrition teacher (1.6 hours). The levels of cooperation and support from principals, teachers, parents, and students were significantly lower in high schools than elementary and middle schools (all p < 0.001) and in schools without a nutrition teacher than schools with a nutrition teacher (all p < 0.05). Conclusion: The results show that the level of dietary education is not enough and needs to be improved, especially at middle and high schools and at schools without a nutrition teacher. Government support polices need to be implemented to encourage dietary educational activities.
