Study of the Characteristic and reliability of guide rail and clamp for the Y-beam type monorail (Y Beam형 모노레일의 가이드 레일 및 클램프의 특성과 안전성에 관한 연구)

  • Monorail has been classified as straddled type and suspended type. However, Inchon Wolmi Eunha rail, a center guide type first ever introduced in the world, uses a new concept Y-Beam as guide rail. Since Y-Beam takes horizontal loads of monorail through guide wheels, it is an essential structure for the safe operation along with concrete surface and steel beam which take vertical loads through main tires. This study presents the characteristic and reliability of Y-Beam and Y-Beam fixture, clamp, which are not only taking horizontal loads but also guarantying both guiding and stability of monorail and holding power supply line.

Evaluation of Grinding Effect of Concrete Bed for AGT System with Rubber Tired using Guide Rails (안내레일을 이용한 고무차륜 AGT 주행로의 연마효과 분석)

  • This study analyzed the effect of running path grinding on a rubber-wheeled AGT track using a guide rail, and experimentally verified the effect of running path grinding using a guide rail by comparing and analyzing the changes in vertical, level, flatness, twist and vehicle vibration acceleration before and after running path grinding. The results of measuring vertical, flatness, and level before and after track grinding using guide rails showed that the curved sections showed approximately 50% improvement effects and the straight sections showed approximately 33% improvement effects before and after track grinding. The results of measuring vertical showed that the curved sections showed approximately 71% improvement effects and the straight sections showed approximately 43% improvement effects. In addition, the results of measuring flatness showed that the curved sections showed approximately 57% improvement effects and the straight sections showed approximately 33% improvement effects. The results of analyzing the grinding effect using the results of level measurement showed that the track grinding was more effective on curved sections than on straight sections. The results of the vehicle vibration acceleration analysis during the driving path grinding showed that the higher the vehicle speed, the greater the driving path grinding effect. But, this study does not include the cross-slope according to the curved section driving path. It is judged that additional research is needed on the polishing and method of curved section driving paths including the cross-slope.

  • The bogie structure of center guided type monorail has been applied to Incheon Wolmi Eunha monorail at first in the world, and aluminum alloy material bogie is first ever introduced in Korea. Since bogie transfers vertical and horizontal loads to the track and guide rail as an essential system, its structure should have enough durability and secure excellent operation performance and ride quality. This study presents a suitable structure for center guided type monorail, a system combination method for bogie operation performance and riding quality, and a solution for better bogie frame durability.

  • A slender guideway is essential in improving aesthetically and reducing its construction cost which accounts for about 70% of overall investment for maglev system. As the slender guideway, however, may increase its deformation, its effect on levitation stability and guidance performance needs to be analyzed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect on guidance characteristics of maglev due to the lateral deformation of the guideway girder and lateral irregularity of guiderail. For doing this, 3D model considering lateral deformation of girder and irregularity of rail of the guideway is developed. Using the dynamic interaction model integrated with the proposed guideway and maglev vehicle including electromagnetics and its controller, guidance characteristics of maglev are analyzed. It is analyzed that the effect on lateral deformation of girder is relatively small compared to deformation on the lateral irregularities of guiderail.

  • This study was aimed at evaluating the structural safety for rubber tired AGT system. Based on these, AGT system which was developed for first time in domestic is need to verify structural safety. So we measured the characteristics of guide-rail, switch rail, side wall in the constructed test track for rubber tired AGT system. Finally, all results of test showed that structural safety of the rubber tired AGT system.

  • AGT system is a kind of light railway train. AGT system use of concrete track and rubber tire, so it can be reduce the noise and vibration, compare to the normal train system. And, the dynamic responses of normal bridge are influenced by the dynamic characteristics of bridge, the speed of vehicle and the surface roughness of railway. But the AGT system bridge is influenced not only the above facts but also the guiderail unevenness, because, AGT vehicle steered by guiderail. So, in this study, optimized service condition is suggested for the design and operation of AGT system, by the means of experimental study. The experiments are executed for PSC bridge with length of 30m, at the AGT test line in Kyongsan. The test results are compared and investigated according to the prominence. In the test result, the guiderail prominence influenced on the dynamic response of bridge. It shows a increase as compared with no guiderail prominence in the dynamic response value acceleration, displacement, stain.

  • Monorail, with the cutting edge technology from EMU system, is small to medium sized transportation solution with bus size capacity, and one of key factors is to minimize size and weight. The Wolmi urban tour monorail, which is a center guide type first ever introduced in the world, is also consists minimizing size and weight of the propulsion system (inverter and motor), which generates considerable amount of heat. This study presents a solution of the structure and method of water cooling system of minimize the size and weight of high efficiency propulsion system, and an effective control method for energy saving.

  • In domestic developing magnetically levitated (Maglev) vehicle, bogie frames install electromagnets which provide the vehicles to run with levitation and guidance forces; moreover, the linear motors used for traction are integrated into the same mechanical structure. This paper presents the process which predicts the evaluation of life cycle for bogie frame on various running conditions. Durability analysis considering vibration effect is simulated by using random loads resulted from dynamic simulation which takes into account the irregularities of guide rail. And it supports additional weak points which were not examined in static analysis.
