  • The competition between many countries for Chinese outbound tourism which have developed at the most fastest speed and has enormous potential in coming years is bitter. So it's important to understand Chinese outbound tourism market and develop strategy to attract Chinese tourists for Korean tourism industry to compete with rival countries. Therefore, this study first researched the environment factors such as population, politics, economy, culture, consumer and competition by reviewing Chinese outbound tourism market and the actual conditions of Chinese tourists to Korea. Then looked out opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses by SWOT analysis. Finally suggested marketing strategy for attracting more Chinese tourists according to SWOT analysis and discussed the role of distribution.

  • Tourism is an attractive field of industry to many countries due to its strong potentials in increasing employment rates as well as improving the national image. The positive effect of the tourism on the national economy and globalization has been recognized in Korea. A multilateral effort has been made in order to develop its tourist industry. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the patterns of tourism demand in Korea. The present study analyzes and demonstrates the effects of a nation's characteristics on tourism demand. The study model was based on factors that affected tourism demand, especially emphasizing on the economic size, distance, national income, and language differences from the mother country. In particular, this study highlights the effects of economic relations between the countries and their exchange rate on tourism demand. In summary, this thesis demonstrates that actual national and international panel data enhance the credibility of the research and precisely determine factors that have a direct influence on tourism demand. A corresponding strategy of development and products are required as most tourists show the preference in advanced nations.

A Research on the Cabin Service Quality Factors in a National Carrier affecting Overseas Tourist's Experience and Satisfactiont (여객의 해외여행 관광지 관광체험과 관광만족에 영향을 미치는 국적항공사 객실서비스 품질 요인 연구)

  • This study analyzed empirically the effects of the perception of outbound passengers, who flew from Korea to overseas tourist destinations, on the cabin service quality, tourist experience, and tourist satisfaction. For empirical analysis, a survey was given to Korean passengers using a national carrier of South Korea. Based on empirical analysis, the researchers judged that the analysis results and implications could be applied to inbound foreign passengers who visited Korea for the tourism purposes if researchers generated significant results from empirical analysis. This paper designed a research model that represented the meaningful relationship among, airline cabin-service quality, tourist experience, and tourist satisfaction following preceding research. According to the analysis, that factors that consisted of the cabin service quality had a significant effect on the tourist satisfaction with a mediating effect of both the cognitive and emotional tourist experience. Therefore, the perception on airline's cabin service quality of the national carrier would be a starting point that can help improve the tourist satisfaction.

A Study on the Status and Causes of Growing Service Trade Deficit -Focused on Korean Tourism Industry- (서비스 무역 적자 증가의 현황과 원인에 관한연구 - 관광산업을 사례로 -)

  • The study is examined to illustrate Korea's status in service trade, including travel deficit, outbound travel market, and inbound travel market. This research will also illustrate what factors generate the growth of travel deficit and suggest some alternatives to solve it even if government notes a steady increase in exports of cultural products and programs and entertainment services, driven by the Korean Wave sweeping across Asia. The study suggested some possible alternatives such as growth of travel balance, improvement of low image on Korean tourism, aggressive participation of government, strengthened role of Korean Tourism Organization(KTO), and appropriate control on overseas studies to lessen an increase of travel deficit. In addition, the study concluded, even if a tourism industry includes a higher multiplier effect, the spontaneous participation intention by Koreans themselves and the strong supports from local governments should be another major successful factors to settle down the travel deficit.

  • The previous studies based on a resource-based view of firm highlighted the role of resources within a firm in creating and sustaining competitive advantage. Recent research, however, the relational view points to the importance of inter-firm sources(or relational capital) in creating firm competitiveness. In international business field, the studies on born-global firms also states that when firms are lack of ownership-specific advantages in their internationalization process, they resort to the external partners and social networks to complement their resource scarcity. By adopting the relational view and born-global firms concept, a network-based approach needs to be applied to explain the international strategy of Korean service firms. This is because most of Korean service firms own less ownership-specific advantages than global competitors. This study proposes Korean firms' global network building and exploiting strategy to enhance their international stages of development. The network, for example, Global Korean Tourism Network, enables network members access to the valuable resources and capabilities they are lack of when undergoing internationalization process. This study's contribution is along two dimension. First, even global Korean network is emerging as a major issue in recent years, we could not figure out how to build global Korean network for service firms. This studies gives an answer. Second, we derived what benefits can be gained from the network if Global Korean Tourism Network is developed for hotel, tourism, convention firms' internationalization.

  • Information is very important for modern consumers, and the factors that have a great influence on product purchasing. Accordingly, elucidating factors affecting the retrieval process of information is an important. This study identifies factors that affect tourism information retrieval activities. First, it was carried out the meta analysis of tourism information, repurchase intention, attitude toward technology, and information utilization. Through the meta analysis, hypothesis model about each factor of information retrieval and repurchase of tourism products was suggested. The hypothesis model was verified by a survey of Korean and Japanese tourists. As a result, it is confirmed the relationship between the above factors. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of a tourists' information usage model in the future.

A Study on Estimating Tourism Elasticities using Autoregressive Distributed Lag(ARDL) model (ARDL 모형을 이용한 관광탄력성 추정에 대한 연구)

  • This study was to investigate the elasticity in tourism demand of Chinese tourists visiting Malaysia through ARDL models by using Chinese tourists arrivals, GDP, CPI, transportation costs and others. When China was implementing an open-door policy with foreign countries in the early 15th century, the movement of Chinese was very limited, and then communication between China and other countries was very weak. However, the Chinese government persistently and entirely implemented an open-door policy by participating in the World Trade Organization(WTO) in 2001. The Chinese government has opened the economy through foreign direct investment by providing various incentives for foreign investment. As a result, inbound and outbound Chinese movements increased in the early 21st century. China was one of the top five most visited tourist destinations in the world by 2016, and also Chinese tourists traveling abroad increased, so they made Malaysia a popular tourists destination because of increase sharply to around 1.41 million. This study examined the significance of major economic factors affecting the increase in Chinese tourists arriving in Malaysia. Other factors that induced their arrival included income, tourism prices, transportation costs and promotional activities. Short-run shocks from the Asian economic crisis and the outbreak of SARS were included to understand how tourism demand in Malaysia was affected. Finally this study found that the combination of the ARDL and the Error Correction Model were useful to statistically estimate the elasticities of tourism demand.

  • 1983년에 중국 정부가 자국민의 해외 여행을 허가한 이래, 중국의 아웃바운드 해외 관광 시장은 비약적으로 발전하였다. 대한민국은 이러한 현상의 최대 수혜 국가 중 하나가 되었으며, 항공운송 분야에 있어 특히 혜택을 보았다. 현재 인천국제공항의 전체 이용객 중 23.9%가 중국인이며, 추후에도 중국여객들이 인천국제공항의 주요한 고객으로 남을 것으로 전망된다. 중국의 광활한 영토와 13억이 넘는 인구를 고려할 때, 중국을 하나의 시장으로만 보는 것이 아니라 여러 지역들이 모인 집합체로 바라볼 필요성이 제기된다. 이렇게 할 시, 각 지역마다 다른 중국여객들이 공항 이용에 있어 보이는 태도와 행동양상의 차이점을 파악하여, 차별화된 서비스 제공의 밑바탕이 될 수 있다. 이를 통하여 중국여객들의 인천국제공항 이용 시 고객 가치와 만족도의 향상에 기여할 수 있다. 본 연구는 중국 정부가 경제, 사회 등의 요소를 고려하여 공인한 방식대로 중국 전체를 다섯 개의 권역으로 분할하여 중국여객들이 인천국제공항 이용에 있어 느끼는 만족도를 조사하고자 한다. 특별히 면세점 이용과 관련된 만족도에 중점을 두고자 한다. 권역별로 지니는 차이점을 분석하여, 권역별로 상이한 서비스 전략을 추진하기 위한 전략적 방향성을 제시한다.

  • 현재 코로나19의 여파로 아웃바운드 관광이 제한되고 있는 상황이지만 모빌리티 시장의 활성화로 인하여 안전하면서 방해받지 않는 프라이빗한 국내 여행의 수요가 증가하는 추세이다. 기존의 애플리케이션은 아직 수요자와 공급자 등의 시장 체계가 확립되지 않은 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하며 코로나19로 인하여 힘든 시간을 보내고 있는 사람들에게 힘이 되어줄 수 있는 택시 투어 통합 애플리케이션인 'TAXIO'를 개발하였다. 중장년층도 편리하게 이용 가능한 UI와 Firebase와 Google Places API, Google Maps API, Weather API를 이용하여 기존 애플리케이션보다 쉬운 접근이 가능하게 개발하였다.
