  • This study examined the difference between mindfulness and psychological well-being of art psychotherapists according to their demographic characteristics. The subjects were 127 art psychotherapists working at counseling centers in Ulsan metropolitan city. Statistical software R was used for frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, independent-sample T-test, and one-way ANOVA. A Scheffe test was used for post hoc analysis. The results showed that the difference in mindfulness of art psychotherapists was significant in age and at peer supervision and case study meanings in supervision type only. Second, the difference in the psychological well-being of art psychotherapists was significant at peer supervision and case study meetings in supervision type only. This means that the more art psychotherapists experience peer supervision and case conferences, the more they perceive mindfulness and psychological well-being. These results suggest that age and supervision type are important for the art psychotherapists' mindfulness and psychological well-being. Therefore, to improve artistic psychotherapists' mindfulness and psychological well-being, it is necessary to systematically develop and operate support programs for each developmental stage to improve artistic psychotherapists' demographic characteristics and professional development.

  • This study was conducted to establish and verify a theoretical model that explains the factors and pathways influencing the psychological well-being of nurses. The subjects of this study were nurses working in four general hospitals with over 200 beds in B city and G province. The results of verifying the path coefficient of the nurses' job rotation stress showed that job rotation stress had a significant effect on challenge stress, hindrance stress, and nurses' psychological well-being, while hindrance stress had a negative effect on nurses' psychological well-being. Nurses' job rotation stress had direct effects on challenge stress, hindrance stress, and psychological well-being. Hindrance stress had a direct effect on psychological well-being. In addition, nurses' job rotation stress had an indirect effect on psychological well-being through hindrance stress. Nurses who experienced job rotation showed challenge and hindrance stress. Since hindrance stress interferes with the psychological well-being of nurses, it is necessary to manage stress and make efforts in the nursing organization. Therefore, nursing organizations should establish a positive organizational environment and develop systematic strategies so that job rotation can be a challenging stress factor for nurses.

  • This study investigates the link between music integration in the lives of adults in their twenties and their school music experiences. Ten individuals in their twenties were interviewed to explore their experiences based on the self-determination theory's fundamental psychological needs (autonomy, competence, and relatedness). Participants were categorized into an active music engagement group (5 individuals) and an inactive group (5 individuals) for individual interviews. Transcripts were analyzed following the five steps of grounded theory data analysis technique. Results indicated a strong connection between music activities during school years and current motivation for music integration, associated with the fulfillment of psychological needs outlined in the self-determination theory. Particularly, this study identified the instructional methods, school music activities, and performance evaluations as closely related to autonomy, competence, and relatedness. It offers a comprehensive analysis of how experiences in these areas during school music activities correlate with values and motivations for music integration in adulthood. Additionally, the study suggests ways to promote the voluntary incorporation of music into life through positive experiences of autonomy, competence, and relatedness in music activities.

  • Intimate friendships and a sense of belonging have positive effects on adolescent's psychological adaptation. Belongingness orientation is the motivation to belong. It is divided into growth orientation and deficit-reduction orientation, both of which have different effects on psychological adaptation and interpersonal characteristics. This study was conducted to determine how adolescents' belongingness orientation affected their psychological adaptation and friend networks. Students in their second year of middle school were surveyed both at the beginning and end of the spring semester. Friend networks were measured through network centrality analysis. Multilevel regression analysis produced three major results. The first major result was that the correlations between growth orientation and loneliness and between growth orientation and stress at the beginning of the spring semester was statistically significant even when friend network centrality was included in the analysis model, but the correlation between deficit-reduction orientation and loneliness and between deficit-reduction orientation and stress were not statistically significant. The second major result was that growth orientation significantly predicted friend network centrality at the end of the spring semester. This effect was significant even when friend network centrality at the beginning of the semester and psychological adaptation level at the end of the spring semester were added to the analysis model. The third major result was that the correlation between friend network centrality at the end of the semester and psychological adaptation level was statistically significant even when psychological adaptation levels at the beginning and the end of the semester were included in the analysis model. This study is meaningful in that it had a short-term longitudinal design and empirically demonstrated the relationship between belongingness orientation and psychological adaptation level of adolescents and between belongingness orientation and the development of friend networks. Lastly, we discussed limitations of this study and provided suggestions for future research.

  • This qualitative study is designed to explore parents' experiences with their children handicapped with restricted growth. The parents' unique reality and its essential meanings are elicited through in-depth interviews enabling to reflect the insider's perspective. "From the child unable to grow to the child able to grow" is identified as the main theme penetrating through the participants'parenting experiences unique to their reality. Embracing the shock and the disappointment related to their children 'unable to grow', they thrive to make their children able to grow. However, they eventually accept their children's handicap, in spite of never doing it easily, by getting confronted with the limits of making their children grow in stature, and the social stigma and the difficulty their children experience. Therefore, they get to take alternative perspectives not focusing on their children's stature unable to grow but on psycho-social growth able to grow. Social welfare plans to support the handicapped with restricted growth and their parents are suggested.
