  • 경동맥 내중막두께(intima media thickness: IMT)는 2000년 미국심장학회에서 관상동맥 질환이나 허혈성 뇌질환 위험도의 독립적인 인자임을 인정하여 일차 진단지표로 권장함에 따라 세계적으로 그 관심이 확산되고 있다. 최근 국내에서도 서구화되어 가는 식생활 패턴으로 인해 고혈압, 동맥경화, 뇌졸중, 관상동맥 질환 등의 심뇌혈관계 질환 발병률이 높아지고 있다. 서구의 연구결과에 의하면 경동맥 내중막 두께는 인종, 성별, 연령에 따라 많은 차이를 보이기 때문에 임상적 진단에 기초가 되는 한국형 경동맥 내숭막두께 정상치 확립이 요구된다. 경동맥의 내중막두께는 경동맥 팽대부에서 근위부 10 mm 부위의 far wall 총경동맥 부위에서 심혈관계 위험 인자와 가장 상관성이 많은 것으로 보고되고 있다.

Health Empowerment of Older Adults with High-risk of Cardio-cerebrovascular Diseases

  • Purpose: This study was to identify factors explaining health empowerment of older adults with high-risk of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases. Methods: Using a structured questionnaire, data were collected from 148 older adults residing in two areas who have one or more of the following diseases; hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, and atherosclerosis. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Health empowerment had a positive correlation with health literacy and social support. Perceived health status and social activity participation showed significant contribution in explaining health empowerment. Conclusion: This study showed that enhancing perceived health status and social activity participation are vital in an effort to improve health empowerment of the population. Main findings of this study can contribute to developing health empowerment interventions to improve health behavior practices of the older adults.

Spontaneous intracranial internal carotid artery dissection in a child with psoriasis (소아에서 건선과 함께 진단된 자발성 두개강 내 내경 동맥 박리 1례)

  • A 13-year-old girl with psoriasis of the elbow, trunk, and face suddenly developed a severe headache followed by left hemiparesis and facial palsy. Brain magnetic resonance imaging showed an acute infarction of the right temporofrontal lobe and basal ganglia on the T2- and diffusion-weighted images. Cerebral angiography showed pre-occlusive irregular scalloped stenosis (99%) in the proximal M1 segment of the right middle cerebral artery and a web-like stenosis at the supraclinoid portion of the right internal carotid artery (ICA) suggestive of a spontaneous intracranial ICA dissection. The patient was administered a low dose of dipyridamole, and a rehabilitation program was initiated. Headache, left motor weakness, and facial droop improved within a week. However, mild left facial palsy and reduced fine motor function of the left hand were still present after 3 weeks. We report a rare case of spontaneous intracranial ICA dissection in a child with psoriasis.

Influencing Factors on Cardio-cerebrovascular Disease Risk Factors in Young Men: Focusing on Obesity Indices (청년층 성인남성에서 흡연, 음주, 비만지표가 심뇌혈관계 위험인자에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate influences of drinking, smoking, and obesity indices on cardio-cerebrovascular disease risk factors in Korean young men. Methods: The subjects were 234 young men, aged 20 to 39 years. Body mass index (BMI), percent body fat (PBF), body fat mass (kg), and waist hip ratio (WHR) were measured as obesity indices. Systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), fasting blood sugar (FBS), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were measured as cardio-cerebrovascular disease risk factors. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using SAS 9.4. Results: Statistically significant factors were BMI for SEP; age, degree of drinking, body fat mass for DBP; WHR for TC; WHR and age for TG; age, degree of smoking and PBF for HDL-C; WHR, age and degree of smoking for LDL-C. Conclusion: Factors identified in this study need to be considered in cardio-cerebrovascular disease prevention programs for young men.

The Nutritional Aspect of Tofu (두부가 인체에 미치는 영양학적 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study was to nutritional aspect of tofu. Tofu is a widely-enjoyed food made from soybeans, and it is a great example of how a simple food like soybeans can be woven into human food traditions in a way that is natural, inexpensive, and nourishing. One of the most important things to remember about tofu is its basic whole food nature. Tofu is produced with significantly less processing than most low-fat soymilks, it is a soy food that is much closer to a "whole foods" category than soy protein isolates and concentrates. From a health benefits standpoint, there are also benefits to tofu that has been fermented. Replacing meat and dairy with tofu and other soy products would also lower our total cholesterol intake by about 125 mg per day and our saturated fat by about 2.4 g per day. These nutritional changes, in turn, would lower our risk of several chronic diseases, including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

Implementation of Fatigue Identification System using C4.5 Algorithm (C4.5 알고리즘을 이용한 피로도 식별 시스템 구현)

  • This paper proposes a fatigue recognition method using the C4.5 algorithm. Based on domestic and international studies on fatigue evaluation, we have completed the fatigue self - assessment scale in combination with lifestyle and cultural characteristics of Chinese people. The scales used in the text were applied to 58 sub items and were used to assess the type and extent of fatigue. These items fall into four categories that measure physical fatigue, mental fatigue, personal habits, and fatigue outcomes. The purpose of this study is to analyze the leading causes of fatigue formation and to recognize the degree of fatigue, thereby increasing the personal interest in fatigue and reducing the risk of cerebrovascular disease due to excessive fatigue. The recognition rate of the fatigue recognition system using the C4.5 algorithm was 85% on average, confirming the usefulness of this proposal.
