The Long-Term Wage Effects of Job Displacement: Frequency or Cumulative Duration of Unemployment (실직이 임금에 미치는 장기적 효과 : 실직 횟수인가 누적실업기간인가?)

  • On the basis of data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY), this paper investigates wage consequences of cumulative experience of job displacement. Unlike previous studies, we consider two measures of cumulative unemployment experience simultaneously: the total frequency and the cumulative duration of unemployment induced by job displacement. When frequency and cumulative duration compete in a wage equation, only cumulative duration remains significant for men, while only frequency matters for women. For men, a one-month increase in the cumulative duration of displacement-initiated unemployment leads to a fall in wages by 0.4 percent. This finding is quite robust with respect to various sample restrictions and/or estimation methods. For women, approximately a 2.5 percent wage reduction is associated with an additional event of displacement.

The Effect of Family Stress on Psychological Distress in Unemployed Female Head: The Interactions with Family Solidarity and Coping (실직 여성가장의 가족스트레스와 심리적 디스트레스: 가족결속력 및 대처와의 상호작용 효과 검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of family stress, coping, family resources on psychological distress and the interactions with family solidarity and coping in unemployed female head. The sample was 101 unemployed female heads(without husband) who are living in Seoul. The results of this study showed that family solidarity had significant buffering effect to moderate relationship between family stress and psychological distress. But the effect of coping on psychological distress was not significant. This means that the family solidarity was very important to decrease the psychological distress(somatization, anxiety, depression) of unemployed female head.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the economic hardship experiences of low-income single-parent families by COVID-19 to find ways to improve after COVID-19. To this end, 10 single parents with children under the secondary school age were recruited through snowball sampling method and in-depth interviews with economic activities, income, expenditure, and economic life. As a result of the study, participants suffered from unemployment and the disappearance of extra income activities in the early stages of COVID-19, additional expenses incurred by children's food and increased utility bills. In addition, it was recognized that COVID-19 has come to be more difficult and unequal to single-parent families of low-income women. It was found that the temporary living difficulties were resolved with disaster support funds, and it was helpful in the short term by spending according to priorities such as overdue monthly rent, food expenses, children's academy expenses, and purchasing home appliances. However, it was recognized that disaster support funds were inappropriate for customized disaster support and long-term and selective support was necessary. In the conclusion, to improve economic problems after COVID-19, it proposed measures to improve social welfare policies and practices

실업(失業) 장기화(長期化)의 효과(效果) 분석(分析)

  • 실업률은 실업의 빈도와 실업기간의 복합체로 결정된다. 따라서 동일한 실업률하에서도 다수의 실업자가 단기실업을 경험할 수 있는 반면, 소수의 실업자가 장기의 실업을 경험할 수도 있다. 실업의 경제비용이란 측면에서 볼 때, 전자의 실업은 부문별 수요변화에 따라 신속한 인력 재배치가 진행됨을 의미하는 반면, 후자의 실업은 구조적인 인력 수급 불균형을 반영하고 있어 높은 경제비용을 수반할 가능성이 높다. 본 논문은 우리나라의 경우 실업률의 지속적인 하락에도 불구하고 1990년대에 들어 실업기간이 장기화되고 있음을 보이고 있다. 이러한 실업 장기화 현상은 노동공급 측면에서 비교적 경제활동이 낮았던 저학력 및 청년, 그리고 여성 근로자층의 구직활동이 적극화된 점과, 노동수요 측면에서는 수요의 고학력화에 따른 장년층 및 저학력 실업자의 구직난을 반영하고 있는 것으로 평가된다. 이러한 결과는 현 경제위기에서 많은 장기실업자가 발생할 가능성이 높음을 시사하고 있어 실직자 지원의 효율적 확대와 직업훈련 효율성 제고의 필요성이 높다고 사료된다.

The Development and Effect of a Group Counseling Program for Unemployed Matriarchs (실직 여성가장을 위한 집단 상담 프로그램 개발 -생의 의미에 미치는 효과검증-)

  • This study was designed to develop a program for unemployed matriarchs and show if the program affected their view on the meaning in life. The subjects were women registered in an occupational training program for unemployed matriarchs, which is being practiced in the 'Working Women Center' located in Busan. The researchers selected 44 persons from the group who agreed to our program. This study was done from the 10th of March, 1999 to the 9th of October. The researchers used the measurement tools, The Purpose in Life, Self-esteem, Hope and Meaning in Life which was composed of 63 items developed by them. Their Cronbach's alpha were .88, .79, .76 and .95. The researchers analyzed the data with frequency, percentage, Mean, S.D, Wilcoxon signed ranks test which were deduced from SPSS 10.0 WIN program. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The program is composed of 'becoming intimate', 'open-minded', 'exploration on self', 'relax of repressed emotion', 'self- acceptance', 'establishing the life-goal', 'enrichment of human relationship' and closing. It took 20 hours for this program to come into practice. 2) According to the analysis of the general traits of all subjects, average age was 39.36. High school graduates were 86%, college graduates were 14% and divorce were 57%, bereavement were 18%, and the rest were 25%. 3) The result of 1st progam showed self-esteem during the program was high. 4) The result of 2nd progam showed self-esteem during the program was high. 5) The result of 3rd progam showed the sum scores of meaning in life, creative meaning, and attitudinal meaning during the program was high. 6) The result of 4th progam showed the sum scores of meaning in life and creative meaning during the program was high. On the viewpoint of above results, we convinced that 'a program for unemployed matriarch is effective to establish a stronger meaning in life. Therefore, it is demanded that support for unemployed matriarchs should not only be economic help such as technical training and help of living expenses, but also psychological, professional and systematic support.

  • In Nepal, unemployment and underemployment rate is very high among the youth between 15-24 ages. Generally people tend to discourage acquisition of skills for a career. Access to skill training is limited, especially for the poor, women, and disadvantaged, and the quality of skills training is variable and often not linked to market needs. Strengthening the technical education and vocational training (TEVT) sector to deliver more relevant and market oriented training is essential. To improve the country's pool of technical skilled manpower and unemployment problem, the government has attempted various programs in the last two decades to institutionalize technical education and vocational training. These had initially mixed results mainly due to poor organization and management of the TEVT sector, lack of proper linkage between the training programs and the needs of the labor market, lack of proper equipment and instructional materials and inadequately trained instructors. Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) as a leading organization in TEVT sector of Nepal should focus on community-based vocational trainings for the purpose of reducing poverty in grassroots level addressing excluded and marginalized groups. It is a big challenge as well as opportunity for CTEVT and TEVT professionals.

  • 지속적으로 산업시장이 고도화되면서 산업시장분석 역시 빅데이터 수준의 데이터 증가에 따라 분석 업무의 효율성 재고가 더욱 요구되고 있으며, 분석 관점역시 차원이 증가하며 분석 방법론의 새로운 적용 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 활용 가능한 공개데이터베이스의 탐색, 공개데이터 베이스 기반의 산업분석 사례 연구의 분석, 이슈의 선정 및 이슈 관련 산업의 선정, 선정된 이슈와 선정된 산업의 시장분석 주요 주제 파악, 해당 산업의 선정된 분석주제 분석을 위한 영향요인 탐색을 수행하였다. 또한 비공개 데이터를 활용하여 실제 이슈와 관련된 산업의 영향요인을 심층적으로 분석하여 관련 결과를 비교하였다. 이러한 목적에 따라 최근 정치사회적으로 이슈가 되었던 국내 사드(THHAD, 종말고고도지역방어) 배치로 인한 중국의 정치경제적 보복조치로 국내 화장품 산업의 대(對) 중국 수출에 대한 영향을 파악하기 위해 공개 데이터베이스에 기반한 주요 요인을 탐색하고 관련 요인을 파악하였다. 분석 결과 중국의 GDP 대비 재화 및 서비스 수입 비중, 상품 수입액, 인구 15-64세 여성 비중, 도시인구 비중이 지표로써 유의한 것으로 확인되었으며, 이외에 상업서비스 수입 대비 여행서비스비율도 유의미한 지표로 추정되었다. 그러나 사드 보복에 따른 화장품 산업의 중국 수출 규모 심층 연구 결과 중국의 사드 보복에 따른 제도적 조치는 없었으며, 수출 실적 상에서 한국 화장품에 대한 일시적 기간에(2017년 4월, 5월) 수출이 급감하였으며, 이는 한국 화장품에 대한 중국 소비자의 구매의향 및 구매율이 실직적으로 낮아진 것으로 추정되나 6월 이후 중국 화장품 수출 실적은 전년대비 다시 10%이상 성장하면서 지속적인 성장을 이루고 있는 것으로 확인된다.

The Study of the First Return-to-work of Injured Workers (산재근로자의 첫 직업복귀기간에 관한 연구)

  • This Study aims to investigate the patterns and causes of the time to return-to-work(RTW) of the injured workers. This study collected data with structured questionnaires and finally included 791 injured workers. The Kaplan-Meier method is used for describing the patterns of the time to RTW after the injury and after claim closure. And the Cox regression is used to identify significant factors on the time to RTW after the injury and after claim closure. The results show that amom the all respondents, the 2.65% returned to work within 1 month, 28.82% within 6 months, 50.95% within 1 year, 71.69% within 2 years after the injury, and the 29.46% of the all repondent returned to work before claim closure or directly after the claim closure, the 36.41% returned to work within 1 month, 56.64% within 6 months, 67.54% within 1 year after the claim closure. And the Cox regression results of the time to RTW after the injury show that the time to RTW affected by gender, age, income, the retirement during the treatment, the RTW to the company at injured time, injury type, surgery, the claim duration, disability ratings, vocational training. Also, the Cox regression results of the time to RTW after the claim show that the time to RTW affected by gender, age, income, the return to the company at injured time, disability ratings, vocational training. As a result, some implication and policies are suggested for reducing the time to RTW of the injured workers.

An Investigation on Employment Effect of Senior Job Training (준·고령자 직업훈련의 훈련생 및 훈련 특성이 재고용에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this investigation is to analyze the effect of employment and quality of employment of senior job training. The questionnaire administered to 576 senior job trainees(over 50 years old) and 28 training institute before and after job training to survey job training characteristics, training institute characteristics and trainee characteristics. The results were as follows : First, independence test(X2) revealed that occupational category, period of training, type of institution, training history, location, and trainee's education level had significant difference on employment. Second, The probability of employment was higher in new and well-equipped public institution than private or old public institution. Third, compared with the prior wage, the wage after training decreased. This result suggested that the unemployed senior can hardly be reemployed in prior level job. The result of analysis on the cases of increased wage after training revealed that the trainees who was women, had a little dependent family, a shorter unemployed period, and a higher prior wage showed higher wage than prior wage after training.
