Determination of Volatile Fatty Acids in Aqueous Samples by HS-SPME with In-Fiber Derivatization (Fiber내 유도체화/HS-SPME를 이용한 수용액 시료 중 휘발성 지방산의 분석)

  • The HS (headspace)-SPME (Solid phase microextraction) as rapid and simple method was performed for the determination of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) from the aqueous samples. In-fiber derivatization of VFAs with 1-Pyrenyldiazomethane (PDAM) was applied to improve their sensitivity of detection. In SPME procedure, typical parameters such as effects of solution pH, and salting out reagent and ultrasonication were investigated to improve the extraction efficiency. Based on the developed method, VFAs in wastewater samples were determined by gas chromatography / mass spectrometry-selected ion monitoring (GC/MS-SIM) mode.

Research on Gas-phase Condensation of Cryogenic Propellant in Pipelines of a Liquid Rocket Engine (로켓엔진의 극저온 연료 공급관내에서 기체상 응축에 관한 연구)

  • This article is related to the possibility for continuous operation of a liquid rocket engine when a portion of cryogenic propellant in the pipeline is vaporized. As a result of experimental studies imitating the formation of vapors in the flow, we confirmed the possibility of full gas-phase condensation in case temperature of cryogenic liquid is lower than it's saturation temperature in the pipeline. Empirical equation allowing to calculate a nonequilibrium condensation region in the steady flow of cryogenic liquid was obtained as a non-dimensional form and the fields of practical application were suggested.

  • The numerical analysis for the verification of preburner's cooling characteristics applying to kerosene-LOx rocket engine has been fulfilled. The distribution of combustion gas properties in primary combustion zone was calculated by the mixture ratio based on head injector arrangement, the properties of oxygen flowing in wall channels as coolant were applied under real-gas conditions, and multi-phase mixing model was employed to calculate the mixing process of primary combustion zone with liquid oxygen which was used for wall cooling. The results of numerical analysis were compared with the experimental results, hence thermo-physical properties in cooling channels and a combustor could be quantitatively identified.

  • 최근 그래핀, hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) 및 $MoS_2$ (molybdenum disulfide)와 같은 2차원 결정 물질들은 무어의 법칙(Moore's Law)를 뛰어넘어 계속적인 소자의 소형화를 가능케 하고 또한 대면적, 저비용 소자 개발을 가능케 하는 우수한 특성을 가진 차세대 반도체 트랜지스터 소재로 각광받고 있다. $MoS_2$는 bulk 상태일 때는 1.2 eV의 indirect 밴드갭을 가지지만 단층형태일 때는 1.8 eV의 direct 밴드갭을 가지며 dielectric screening 기법등을 통해 mobility를 향상시킬 수 있는 것으로 연구된 바 있다. 본 연구에서는 화학기상증착 (chemical vapor deposition)법을 이용하여 $MoS_2$ 박막을 형성하기 위한 기초연구인 Mo 전구체의 특성평가 및 적합한 공정조건 개발 연구를 수행하였다. 사용한 전구체는 $Mo(CO)_6$ (Molybdenum hexacarbonyl)이고, 온도 및 압력, 반응기체(H2 S, Hydrogen sulfide) 유량 등의 공정 조건 변화에 따른 거동을 Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) 시스템을 사용하여 측정하였다. 또한 $Mo(CO)_6$의 분자구조를 상용 프로그램인 Gaussian으로 시뮬레이션 하여 실제 FT-IR 측정 결과값과 비교 분석하였다.

  • This is conceptual study of vitiated air heater(VAH), the necessary ground test facility, for characteristics studies of scramjet combustion and development of scramjet engines. The VAH is one of various types which provided hot air to an intake or a combustion chamber of scramjet and it must use suitable fuel to get hot combustion gas and more similar mixture gas(vitiated air) to real air. In the study, foreign VAHs being capable of providing very high temperature were researched, and injectors for VAH using LNG(CH4) or hydrogen were designed conceptually to develop scramjet vehicle.

  • In hypersonic aircraft, increase of aerodynamic and engine heat lead thermal load in airframe. It could lead structural change of aircraft's component and malfunctioning. Endothermic fuels are liquid hydrocarbon fuels which are able to absorb the heat load by undergoing endothermic reactions. In this study, we investigated the method of measuring the heat sink of catalyst by using exo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene as a fuel in a packed bed flow reactor similar to the actual reaction conditions.

Research Trends of Technology Using Oxygen for Dehydrogenation of Light Alkanes (경질알칸의 탈수소 반응을 위한 산소활용기술 연구 동향)

  • Due to the great development made in converting the shale gas into the more valuable products, research and commercialization for production technology of olefins like propylene, butenes, butadiene from light alkanes have been intensively investigated. Especially the technology using oxygen like oxidative dehydrogenation or selective hydrogen combustion to overcome thermodynamic limit of direct dehydrogenation conversion has been extensively studied and some cases of applying this technology to the plant scale was reported. In this review, we have categorized the technology into two parts; gas phase oxygen utilization technology and lattice oxygen utilization technology. The trends, results and future direction of the technology are discussed.

Failure Prediction of Thermo-Chemically Decomposing Composite for Rocket Thermal Insulators (열경화성 복합재 로켓 방화벽의 파손 예측)

  • The theory developed in a preceding paper [1] for poroelastic composite material behavior under thermal and gas diffusion is applied to thermo-chemical decomposition of a carbon-phenolic composite rocket nozzle liner under typical operating conditions. Specifically, the structural component simulated is the cowl ring for which distributions of pressure in the material pores, temperature and across-ply stress are presented. The results for particular composite designs show that across-ply failure occurs due to tensile stress in the material which is indicative of plylift. This prediction corroborates observations of plylift in a nozzle cowl. Simulations suggest designs to avoid plylift in the cowl zone.

The steady and unsteady state computations on the flame structure for a Kerosene coaxial swirl injector (케로신 동축 와류형 분사기의 정상 및 비정상 상태 화염구조 해석)

  • Numerical simulations of the steady and unsteady state were conducted for a coaxial swirl injector with Kerosene fuel. Non-premixed equilibrium model based on chemical equilibrium assumption was used as turbulence-chemistry interaction model. As an equations of state, SRK(Soave-Redlich-Kwong) EOS was applied to deal with the behavior of real fluid in a high pressure condition. Through the steady and unsteady computations, mean values of steady and time-averaged unsteady state were compared on the temperature and OH mass fraction and it was shown that the flame structure of steady state was different to that of time-averaged unsteady state.
