A development of multi-purpose system for transmitting real-time multimedia streaming (실시간 멀티미디어 스트리밍 전송을 위한 다목적 시스템의 구현)

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG4 스트리밍을 기반으로 하여 다용도로 인터넷에서 영상 및 음성을 전송할 수 있는 시스템(RealCam SUN A/V)를 설계하고 구현하였다. 기존의 인터넷응용 시스템들은 주변 관찰용, 인터넷 방송용, 원격 장비 제어용 등의 독립된 시스템으로 개발 운영되고 있으며, 2개 이상의 용도를 사용하기 위해서는 여러 개의 시스템을 설치하여 사용해야 하는 문제점을 가지고 있었다. 본 연구에서는 이들 용도를 하나로 통합하여 다목적으로 활용할 수 있게 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였으며, 그 결과 56Kbps 에서는 160*120 화면 크기로는 초당 15프레임정도의 영상 전송을 할 수 있었고, 512Kbps에서는 640*480 크기를 초당 30프레임으로 서비스할 수 있었다.

A Real-Time Disk Prefetch Scheme for Continuous Media Playback (연속매체 상영을 위한 실시간 디스크 프리팻칭 기법)

  • To play back CM (Continuous Media) in online mode, the multimedia system Is required to have a real-time disk scheduling scheme that can efficiently fulfill the strict temporal constraints of serviced CM streams to prevent hiccups. In general, such disk scheduling is performed based on the concept of periodic prefetching since a CM stream has a rather long Playback time. In this paper, we also propose a periodic prefetching scheme that runs by using real-time disk channels, called on-time delivery channels. Since the channels are generated from the bulk-SCAN algorithm and they can be allocated in a very flexible manner based on the EDF (earliest-deadline-first) algorithm, the proposed scheme provides a better Performance in terms of I/O throughput and the average response time, as well as hiccup-free playback of concurrent CM streams. To show that the proposed scheme outperforms other methods, we give some simulation results.

  • It can be organized with PVRs and FC-AL for a high-quality TV content-sharing architecture. It is, however, not easy to configure a large community network with the FC-AL since it has a 7-bit address space with supporting up to 127 users. We, therefore, propose a novel scalable FC-AL multiple-loop architecture using shared disks, which does not need to use expensive and load-concentrated switches. In this article, our suggested architecture shows a superb startup delay, such as less than 20msec. In addition, it demonstrates outstanding scalability, such that the number of accomodable users increases almost linearly according to adding loops. Lastly, it reveals exceptional time-shifting hours, that is, which supports more than 140 hours with 1000 users.

  • Recently, lots of embedded processors which can run streaming multimedia with high resolution display are introduced. Among the applications running on these embedded processors, real-time audio streaming is one of the applications that suffer from the lack of energy and memory space. In this paper, we propose a novel data compression method on scratch-pad memory, which saves both useful space on the scratch-pad memory and energy. We have implemented the data compression scheme on the GDM1202 real-time audio streaming processor, and the performance results show that we obtained 13.3% energy saving while maintaining comparable application performance to that of the non-compression case.

  • 본 논문에서는 유선망과 무선망 환경에 적합한 멀티캐스트를 게이트웨이 시스템을 개발하였다. 유선망과 무선망에서의 스트리밍 서비스를 제공하는 련도의 게이트웨이에 멀티캐스트 기법을 적용하여 유선망의 서버의 부하를 분산시키고 네트워크 대역폭 자원을 효율적으로 사용할 수 있도록 개발하였다. 실시간 영상 멀티캐스팅의 경우 동시에 같은 비디오의 동일 시점을 재생하고 있는 가입자들이 있을 때만 멀티캐스팅이 가능하다. 따라서 기존의 기법을 개선하여 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 데이터 전송을 능동적으로 무선망에 적용하기 위하여 이에 적절한 Patching 기법을 적용하였다. 이를 통하여 유선과 무선망이 흔합된 단일망의 변화를 효율적으로 적용한 멀티캐스트 게이트웨이를 개발하였다.

  • In today's technology streaming service's QoS technologiey is an issue. On quality video streaming service there are some technical issues exist, such as buffering. This submission is "Adaptive dual-streaming system design" which is for the integrity of the data streaming that is sent to TCP and UDP for faster transmission of data to the stream. This system provides real-time incoming video encoding in bitrate of h.264-based H through a process based on the video footage of several server and client-to-TCP and UDP via Adaptive providing streaming services in a network environment. This is an unspecified number of buffers in a network environment and continued through the minimization of various streaming for playback of videos and multimedia will be utilized in the field.

  • Multimedia streaming service is susceptible to loss and delay of data as it requires high bandwidth and real time processing. Therefore QoS cannot be guaranteed due to data loss caused by heavy network traffic and error of wireless channel. To solve these problems, studies about algorithms which improve the quality of multimedia by serving differently according to the priority of packets in multimedia stream. Two algorithms are proposed in this paper. The first algorithm proposed is WMS-1(Wireless Multimedia Scheduling-1) algorithm which acts like IWFQ when any wireless loss is occurred but assigns channels first in case of urgent situation like when the running time of multimedia runs out. The second algorithm proposed is WMS-2(Wireless Multimedia Scheduling-2) algerithm that assigns priority to multimedia flow and schedules flow that has higher priority according to type of frame first. The comparison with other existing scheduling algorithms shows that multimedia service quality of the proposed algorithm is improved and the larger the queue size of base station is, the better total quality of service and fairness were gained.

  • Since the RTP is suitable for real-time data transmission in multimedia services like VoD, AoD, and VoIP, it has been adopted as a real-time transport protocol by RTSP, H.323, and SIP. Even though the RTP protocol stack for embedded systems has been in great need for efficient support of multimedia services, such a stack has not been developed yet. In this paper, we explain embeddedRTP which supports the RTP protocol stack at the kernel level so that it is suitable for embedded systems. Since embeddedRTP is designed to reside in the UBP module, existing applications which rely ell TCP/IP services can proceed the same as before, while applications which rely on the RTP protocol stack can request HTP services through embeddedRTp API. EmbeddedRTP stores transmitted RTP packets into per session packet buffer, using the packet's port number and multimedia session information. Communications between applications and embeddedRTP is performed through system calls and signal mechanisms. Additionally, embeddedRTP API makes it possible to develop applications more conveniently. Our performance test shows that packet-processing speed of embeddedRTP is about 7.5 times faster than that oi VCL RTP for multimedia streaming services on PDA in spite that its object code size is reduced about by 58% with respect to UCL RTP's.

  • Real-time multimedia transmit services like internet broadcasting, web-based education, chatting, conference, circumference observation etc. by using internet are given a great deal of weight on most recently internet services. In these way, various internet services are presented and there applications are also gradually spreaded because of improvement MPEG and streaming processing techniques. But currently internet service is a development of system which has independent function of above services. And a research and development of system which have a multipurpose internet service are insufficiency. In this paper, we design and develop system(RealCam SUN A/V) for transmitting images and voices based on MPEG4 streaming. As a result of our research, it made possible to transmit images with 15 frame/sec in 160×120 frame size at 56Kbps and 30 frame/sec in 640×480 frame size at 512Kbps. And also we can apply this system as multipurpose function to circumference observation and internet broadcasting etc., by transmitting voices, images and control signal simultaneously.

  • 전국전인 초고속통신망이 구축되면서 인터넷을 통해 서비스되는 정보도 과거의 텍스트 기반의 서비스에서 정지영상, 동영상, 음성 등과 같은 멀티미디어 서비스가 주류를 이루고 있다. 웹캠이나 CCD 카메라로 촬영한 영상을 인터넷을 통해서 실시간으로 서비스할 수 있는 기술이 개발되면서 이를 이용하여 모니터링 서비스, 원격감시 시스템, 다자간 화상회의시스템, 출입관리, 동영상을 스트리밍 서버를 이용한 서비스, 인터넷 방송 등 다양한 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 웹 캠나 CCD 카메라를 통해 획득한 영상 중 필요로 하는 부분을 저장하여 향후에 사용할 수 있도록 하는 시스템 을 개발하는 것으로 동화상 캡처 드라이버와 인터페이스 처리 부분, 데이터 분석 처리 부분, 데이터 처리 부분을 C++ 프로그램을 사용하여 개발하였다.
