  • The fiber material properties, elastic constant and strength, are the most important factors among the various material properties for the design of composite pressure vessel, because of it's dominant influence on the performance of composite pressure vessel. That is, the deformation and burst pressure of pressure vessel highly affected by the fiber material properties. Therefore, the establishment of test method for exact fiber material properties is a priority item to design a composite pressure vessel. However, the fiber material properties in filament wound pressure vessel is very sensitive on various processing variables (equipment, operator and environmental condition etc..) and size effect, so that it isn't possible to measure exact fiber material properties from existing test methods. The hydro-burst test with full scale pressure vessel is a best method to obtain fiber material properties, but it requires a enormous cost. Thus, this paper suggests a newly developed test method, hoop ring test, that is capable of pressure testing with ring specimens extracted from real composite pressure vessel. The fiber material properties from hoop ring test method showed good agreement with the results of hydro-burst test with full scale composite pressure vessels.

  • With the increasing of service robots, human-robot interaction for natural communication between user and robots is becoming more and more important. Especially, face recognition is a key issue of HRI. Even though robots mainly use face detection and recognition to provide various services, it is still difficult to guarantee of performance due to insufficient test methods in real service environment. Now, face recognition performance of most robots is evaluation for engine without consideration for robots. In this paper, we show validity of test method using LED monitor through performance comparison of real images with from images LED monitor.

  • A real A real scale fire test was performed in accordance with KS F ISO 9705 test method to investigate the combustion characteristics of glass wool sandwich panels. To do this, six kinds of specimens having different density and thickness were examined. The glass sandwich panels were installed inside the room, which had internal dimensions of 2.4 m wide${\times}3.6m$ deep${\times}2.4m$ high. also, combustion characteristic are determined through the exposure of specimens to flame by the propane gas burner has a capacity of 100 kW (10 minutes) and 300 kW (10 minutes) for total 25 minutes of test time. Results of the real sale fire test, it was found that maximum HRR of each specimen was 333.2~365.5 kW, maximum heat flux was 12.4~12.9 kW/$m^2$ And, maximum internal temperature for all specimens was not over $500^{\circ}C$. During the real scale fire test, flash-over didn't occur and the difference by density and thickness of specimen was not found from the results of HRR, heat flux, and internal temperature measurement.

  • Same as-built drawings in national roadway bridges in Korea were examined. As a result, many bridge piers were found whose aspect ratios are in the vicinity of 2.5. These columns are expected to do shear-flexure behaviour, but the previous research works considered flexure behaviour columns only. In the study, therefore, a shear-flexure behaviour column was selected as the model pier, and quasi static test on the full and 1/2 scale models was carried out. From the test results, the scale effect on the seismic performance evaluation was analyzed, and the seismic performance of the model bridge pier without seismic details was evaluated by the capacity spectrum method.

  • This study was programmed to fabricate a beam-to-column connection that is limited to a steel-welded moment connection with full-scale members, using SN steel. A cyclic seismic test was conducted of the nine specimens that were fabricated by choosing the test variable for the weld access hole geometry, connection design method, and RBS. From the test results, failure modes, the moment-drift behavior, and the strain distribution were provided. From the specimen material properties, the beam's nominal plastic flexural capacity and classified qualified connection as a special moment flame were calculated. By analyzing the skeleton part and the baushinger part, a range of strength-raising effects, and deformation ratios were provided, with which the seismic performance of the specimens were evaluated. The test results showed that the specimens eliminated their weld access holes that demonstrated higher seismic performance than the specimens' existing weld access holes, and that the WUF-W connection that was reinforced by the supplemental fillet weld around the shear tap that was fastened by five bolts demonstrated superior seismic performance.

  • This study defined abnormal behaviors such as bending deformations or buckling behaviors occurred in high strength steel pipe strut system, and carried out a full-scale bending test for different connection types. A parametric study was carried out to gain an insight about structural performances considering abnormal behavior effects in high strength steel pipe strut system. Five abnormal behaviors were considered as undesirable deflections of strut structures, which are basic load combination, excessive excavation situations, impact loading effects, additional overburden loads, load combinations, and strut lengths. Subsequent simulation results present various influences of parameters on structural performances of the strut system. Based on the results, we propose methods to prevent unusual behaviors of pipe-type strut structures made of high strength steels.

  • The Reinforced subgrade for railroad (RSR) was constructed for one way railway line with the dimension of 5 m high, 6 m wide and 20 m long to evaluate its performance under train design load. The RSR has characteristics of short length (0.3-0.4 H) of reinforcement and rigid wall, 30 and 40 cm vertical spacing of reinforcement installation. To enhance economics and constructability, three kinds of connections (welding, hinge & bolt, bold wire) were also designed to realize the integration between rigid wall and reinforced subgrade. Two times of static loading tests were done on the full size railroad subgrade. The maximum applied pressure was 0.98 MPa (the maximum test load 5.88 MN), which corresponds to 19.6 times of the design load for railroad subgrade, 50 kPa. The performance on the RSR was evaluated with the safety on the failure, subgrade bearing capacity and settlement, horizontal displacement of wall, and reinforcement strain. Based on the full scale test, we confirmed that the RSR with the conditions of 0.35 H (35% of height) short reinforcement length, hinge & bolt type connection for integration between rigid wall and reinforced subgrade, and 40cm vertical spacing of reinforcement installment shows good performance under train design load.

  • The crashworthiness of the fuel tank of a rotorcraft is verified through the crash impact test. The crash impact test has a high risk of failure due to the application of an excessive load, which can seriously affect the overall development schedule of the aircraft. Therefore, a lot of effort has been made to minimize the possibility of failure in the actual test by carrying out a numerical analysis of the crash impact test of the fuel tank in the initial design stage. Recently, an external auxiliary fuel tank was added to increase the cruising distance. In this study, the numerical analysis results of the crash impact test based on several different shapes of the external auxiliary fuel tank are presented, in order to evaluate its crashworthiness. For the numerical analysis, smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH), which is one of the fluid-structure coupled analysis methods, is applied and the test conditions prescribed by US military standards are reflected in the analysis conditions. In addition, the material property data previously obtained by the specimen test of the actual fuel tank is applied to the numerical analysis. As a result, the equivalent stress of the fuel tank material itself and the metal fitting is provided and the possibility of acquiring data for designing the crash-worthiness of the external auxiliary fuel tank is evaluated by examining the behavior and working load of the internal mounted components.
