Interior Noise Characteristics of the Electric Trains in Gyeongchun Line (경춘선 전동열차의 실내 소음 특성)

  • Since the opening of the double-track railway for the Gyeongchun local electric train and the semi-high speed train ITX, floating population between Seoul and Chuncheon has rapidly increased. This is attributable to the competitiveness of the railway service in terms of punctuality and safety of operation, mass transportation and low fare. However, many passengers have expressed strong dissatisfaction and displeasure towards the interior noise and its high rate of increase, particularly in tunnel sections. In this study, the interior noise characteristics of Gyeongchun local electric train and ITX were analyzed and compared. Noise levels, frequency spectrum and sound quality indices were compared for the open land, tunnel and bridge. Finally, from the noise levels depending on the location in the vehicle compartment, the noise transmission path was determined and a basic strategy for reducing the interior noise was developed.

Combustion and Spray Characteristics of Jet in Crossflow in High-Velocity and High-Temperature Crossflow Conditions (고온고속기류 중에 수직 분사되는 액체제트의 연소 및 분무특성)

  • A jet in a crossflow (JICF) has been extensively studied because of its wide applications in technological systems, including fuel injection into a ram-combustor. However, in the case of insufficient mixing performance of the liquid jet into the crossflow, the flame in a ram-combustor is unstable. In this study, the nonuniform flame and combustion instabilities due to lack of mixing performance were experimentally investigated. By performing correlations to predict the penetration height and break-up point, the spray and mixing characteristics of JICF have been studied. In particular, the improved correlations of penetration height are proposed in two distinctive domains depending on the X/d location of the crossflow.

  • An OWC-type Wave Energy Conversion passes through 3 steps energy conversion process. This paper deal with the internal oscillating flow and effect of shape of air chamber and duct at setting place of turbine by numerical analysis using commercial CFD code, FLUENT. Air chamber and duct in OWC-type wave energy conversion are adopting sudden expanded and contracted form for high-efficiency. So, whole oscillating flow from OWC-type chamber to outlet duct through duct was solved by steady and unsteady analysis in order that flow efficiency of air chamber and duct was made better.

  • A study on the distribution characteristics of inflowed warm air is important to analyze warm air storage in a room. Also, in point of energy saving during heating, warm air flow characteristics occurred by circulation and distribution of inflowed warm air should be analyzed, and the storage efficiency should be considered in order to increase efficiency of heating system. For this study, in the real-sized model room, the temperature differences between inflowing warm air and inner room air are 10, 20, $30^{\circ}C$(3steps), and the flow rates of inflowing warm air are 0.5, 1, 2, 3m/s(4steps) respectively as dynamic parameters. Also, anemos and vane diffuser are used as inlet geometric condition. Consequently, on geometric conditions, high thermal storage efficiency can be obtained with the vane diffuser, and heat flow characteristics depend on the inflowing velocity more than reference temperature difference.

  • In this research, it is to find a method that frost does not form on the outdoor unit to develop a heat pump capable of heating in cold regions. For this reason, we produced an incubator capable of creating an environment of -25℃, and constructed an experimental apparatus so that experiments in the room were possible. However, it is necessary to grasp the characteristics of the air reaching the front of the heat pump outdoor unit installed in the experimental apparatus, and flow analysis was performed using ANSYS CFX, which is general-purpose software. As a result, the flow velocity of the air reaching the front of the outdoor unit in the outdoor unit chamber in the entire region of the simulation conditions (5.0 to 7.5 m/s) has many differences in the upper and lower portions, resulting in a natural state. It turned out that the condition can not be satisfied. Therefore, it is determined that it is necessary to additionally install a frequency divider at the front of the outdoor unit to make the flow velocity constant.

  • The performance of a direct-injection type diesel engine often depends on the strength of air flow in the cylinder, shape of combustion chamber, the number of nozzle holes, etc. This is of course because the process of combustion in the cylinder was affected by the mixture formation process. In the present paper, high speed photography was employed to investigate the effectiveness of holes penetrated from the bottom of cavity wall to piston crown for some more useful utilization of air. The holes would function to improve mixing of fuel and air by the increase of air flow in the cylinder. The results obtained are summarized as follows, (1) Activated first of the combustion by shorten of ignition timing and rapid flame propagation (2) Raised the combustion peak pressure, more close to TDC the formation timing of peak pressure.

  • The ventilation system of apartments can be divided by supply and exhaust fan, supply fan and exhaust free and supply free and exhaust fan. Recently, the individual ventilation system and central ventilation system which is combined cooling system with duct system are applied to apartment ventilation system. The airflow pattern is affected by location of supply unit and exhaust unit in indoor. This study is to investigate the proper distance between supply unit and exhaust unit using CFD. As a result of this study, the proper distance between supply unit and exhaust unit could be suggested at the interval of 3 m in supply and exhaust fan system and 2.5 m in supply fan and exhaust free.

CFD Analysis for Microclimate of Venlo Type Glasshouse with the Screen Height and Air-inflow Quantity (스크린설치높이·공기유입량 차이에 따른 벤로형 유리온실 미기상 CFD 유동해석)

  • The natural change of winter night temperature from 00:00 to 04:30 O'clock with the different height of thermal screen in a venlo type glasshouse (W59×L68×H5.9 m) was studied using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). At the early stage of CFD analysis, the room temperature decrease of glasshouse with the 5.9 m height of thermal screen were faster than it with the 4.1m height of thermal screen, but at 2 hr after analysis it was slower than in it with the 4,1m, the temperature difference was 0.6℃ after 4 hr. If we consider that turn on the heater when the temperature were decrease below 13℃ at 1hr after CFD analysis, it is good for energy saving in the glasshouse with the 4.1 m height of thermal screen rather than in it with the 5.9 m height, because of the temperature decrease were slow during 2 hrs after analysis. The airflow at the height of 2 m which were grown tomato were fast and wide in the glasshouse with the 5.9 m height thermal screen rather than in it with the 4.1 m, the speed difference was 0.034m·s-1 at 1hr after CFD analysis. The effect of temperature decrease in summer season were compared with the different height of shading screen from 12:00 to 14:30 O'clock. The height of shading screen were 5.7, 3.9 m, the gap of it were 30%. The air-inflow quantity by the fan with duct at lower part of venlo glasshouse was 0.67 ㎥·s-1 until 1hr and to increase 3 times of it from 1hr after analysis. The roof window were open 100%. Until 1hr of CFD analysis, the temperature in the 30% open of shading screen was 0.9℃ higher than in the none shading screen. From 13:00 O'clock when the air-inlet quantity to increase 3 times, the temperature in case 30% gap of shading screen were decreased compare with the none shading screen, the temperature difference was 0.5℃ at 14:30 O'clock. The temperature on the floor surface in case 30% gap of shading screen were lower with it's height increase, the temperature difference was 8℃ compare with none shading screen. The relative humidity difference were insignificant by the height and gap of shading screen.

Introduction of an appropriate ventilation system for cooling and dehumidification is needed. In line number 2, commuting and normal trains are measured in-room floating microbes. Suspended bacteria and fungi suspended in 2011 for 85 ~ 385$cfu/m^3$, 67 ~ 98$cfu/m^3$ is lower than baseline. Suspended to prevent microbial contamination and air conditioning equipment performance is a substantial improvement. Suspended micro-organisms and the impact on passenger room ventilation is increased. Electric car how to improve air quality substantially investigated.

Development of Air Cleaning Roll-Filter for Improving IAQ in Subway (도시철도 객실 공기질 개선을 위한 롤필터 개발연구)

  • In a modern society, various type of transportation modes are utilized, among them the subway system is the one of the main transportation mode which more than 7.21 million people ride a day in Seoul. Due to the increased interests on the indoor air quality (IAQ) of underground facilities, public concerns on IAQ of subway system are increasing also. Platform screen door (PSD) recently installed at the whole stations of Seoul subway and tunnel washing-out appeared to be effective in reducing particulate matters in the platform and tunnel. However there has not been any attempt to improve IAQ of subway cabin inside. Most technologies for removing airborne particulate matters are known to be difficult to adopt on the subway cabin due to the problem of maintenance cost. Therefore, the object of this study is a practical development of cabin air cleaning system which can reduce the concentration of airborne particles and harmful gases at the same time. In this paper, we focused on the development of particle removing system utilizing a roll-filter for increasing operating time of air filter. The prototype of system was designed and manufactured based on the numerical prediction results. For rollfilter device, 5 candidate filter materials were tested in point of particle collection efficiency and pressure drop. It was found that the electrically charged filter material showed the highest performance among them.
