Design of Low-Power 3rd-order Delta-Sigma Modulator (저전력 3차 델타-시그마 모듈레이터 설계)

  • This paper presents a design and implementation of a low power switched-capacitor 3rd-order delta-sigma modulator for a digital hearing-aid application. The power consumption is reduced by minimizing the output swing of integrators through optimizing the coefficients of modulator architecture and using class-AB output operational amplifiers. The modulator was implemented in a 130nm CMOS technology, and measured to have 79dB of SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio) in the signal bandwidth between 100Hz and 10kHz with an oversampling ratio of 160. The power consumption was $60{\mu}W$ from 1.2V power supply and the modulator core occupied $0.53mm{\times}0.53mm$.

  • IoT technology has been used as a core technology of convergence service that needs intelligent information processing, and the importance is largely emerging now. And internal network construction thru IoT interaction device can connect with IoT device effectively, provide diverse services by connection with open platform. Especially, beacon that is based on low electric power bluetooth device is receiving attention as one of core technology of IoT. Beacon technology is utilized widly in various fields of industry, and there are lot of demands in the specific environment and conditions beyond the basic function. On this thesis, the authors are proposing the beacon device that utilized acceleration sensor and hole sensor. this beacon device can control the target on specific situation thru sensing of moving target. For the more, we will expect to apply to the various type of factory environments like detachable installation, optimized management using sensor.

  • Recently terrestrial digital broadcasting systems have experienced a growth with the demand of high data rate. In order to meet such demand, the MIMO technology has received a wide attention. This paper proposes a pre-coding method, which provides high space channel correlation for the improved performance over terrestrial broadcasting channels when the polarized $2{\times}2$ MIMO SM is adopted for DVB-NGH systems. When signals with two different modulation orders are transmitted through two antennas, a method that is based on non-uniform power is also proposed for improved reception performance. To optimize the proposed method, phase shifting values for the pre-coding method and appropriate unequal power ratio are obtained. These obtained parameters are applied to a terrestrial broadcasting system, and then the performance improvement over the conventional SM is shown through computer simulations.

A Design of Wideband, High Efficiency Power Amplifier using LDMOS (LDMOS를 이용한 광대역, 고효율 전력증폭기의 설계)

  • Existing LDMOS power amplifier that used class-AB and doherty system shows 55% of efficiency in 60MHz narrow band. Because RRH has been applied to power amplifier at base station. It is required that over 100MHz expanded band and more than 60% high efficiency power amplifier. In this paper we designed class-J power amplifier using LDMOS FET which has over 60% high efficiency characteristic in 200MHz. The output matching circuit of designed class-J power amplifier has been optimized to contain pure reactance at second harmonic load and has low quality factor Q. As a measurement result of the amplifier, when we input continuous wave signal, we checked 62~70% of power added efficiency(PAE) in 2.06~2.2GHz including WCDMA frequency as a 10W class-J power amplifier.

  • 최근 고집적화 구조는 저항(resistance)과 정전용량 (capacitance)에 의한 신호 지연 (RC delay) 증가로 인한 혼선 (cross-talk noise)과 전력소모 (power dissipation)등의 문제를 발생시킨다. 칩 성능에 영향을 미치는 제한인자를 최소화하기 위해서는 저저항 배선 금속과 저유전상수 (low-k)의 층간 절연막 (IMD, intermetal dielectric) 물질이 필요하다. 최근 PECVD (plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition)를 이용하여 증착시킨 유기살리케이트 (OSG, organosilicate glass)는 가장 유망한 저유전상수 물질로 각광받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 제일원리 연구를 통하여 OSG의 전구체 중에 하나인 DEMS 문자를 모델링하고, 에너지적으로 가장 안정한 구조를 찾아서 각 원자 간의 결합에 따른 해리에너지 (dissociation energy)를 계산하고, DEMS가 H-terminated Si 표면과 반응하는 기구에 대해 고찰하였다. 최적화된 DEMS 분자의 구조를 찾았고 DEMS 분자가 결합이 깨져 조각 분자군으로 될 때의 에너지들을 계산하였다. 계산된 해리에너지로부터 DEMS 분자의 O 원자와 C분자의 결합이 깨져서 $C_2H_5$를 조각 분자군으로 생성할 확률이 총 8가지의 경우에서 가장 높다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 8 가지의 해리된 DEMS 조각 분자군들이 H-terminated Si 표면과 반응할 때의 반응에너지를 계산한 결과 표면의 Si 원자와 DEMS 분자에서 $C_2H_5$가 해리되어 생성된 조각 분자군의 O 원자가 결합을 하고 부산물로 $C_2H_6$를 생성하는 반응이 가장 선호된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. DEMS 분자로 증착시킨 OSG에 대하여 제일원리법을 이용하여 계산한 연구는 보고된 바 없기 때문에, DEMS 분자의 각 원자 간의 해리에너지와 Si 기판과의 반응에너지는 추후 연구개발의 중요한 기초 자료가 될 수 있다.

Wireless Speech Recognition System using Psychoacoustic Model (심리음향 모델을 이용한 무선 음성인식 시스템)

  • In this paper, we implement a speech recognition system to support ubiquitous sensor network application services such as switch control, authentication, etc. using wireless audio sensors. The proposed system is consist of the wireless audio sensor, the speech recognition algorithm using psychoacoustic model and LDPC(low density parity check) for correcting errors. The proposed speech recognition system is inserted in a HOST PC to use the sensor energy effectively mil to improve the accuracy of speech recognition, a FEC(Forward Error Correction) system is used. Also, we optimized the simulation coefficient and test environment to effectively remove the wireless channel noises and correcting wireless channel errors. As a result, when the distance between sensor and the source of voice is less then 1.0m FAR and FRR are 0.126% and 7.5% respectively.

An Analysis of Wideband and High Efficiency Class-J Power Amplifier for Multiband RRH (다중대역 RRH를 위한 Class-J 전력증폭기의 광대역과 고효율 특성분석)

  • Until recently, power amplifiers using LDMOS were Class-AB and Doherty type, and showed 55 % efficiency for narrowband of 60 MHz bandwidth. However, owing to the RRH application of base stations power amplifier module, a bandwidth expansion of at least 100 MHz and high efficiency power amplifiers of at least 60 % power efficiency are required. In this study, a Class-J power amplifier was designed by optimizing an output matching circuit so that the second harmonic load will contain a pure reactance element only and have broadband characteristics by using GaN HEMT. The measurements showed that a 45 W Class-J power amplifier with a power added efficiency of 60~75 % was achieved when continuous wave signals were input at 1.6~2.3 GHz, including W-CDMA application.

The Characteristics Analysis of Low Profile Meander 2-Layer Monopole Antenna (소형 미앤더 2-층 모노폴 안테나의 특성분석)

  • In this paper, we present a low profile 2-layered meander built-in monopole antenna for portable RFID reader using FDTD(Finite Difference Time Domain) method. The input impedance, return loss, and VSWR in the frequency domain are calculated by Fourier transforming the time domain results. The double meander 2-layer structure is used to enhance the impedance matching and increase the antenna gain. The measured bandwidth of the antenna is 0.895 GHz ~ 0.930 GHz for a S11 of less than -10dB. The measured peak gain of proposed low profile RFID built-in antenna is 2.3 dBi. And the proposed built-in antenna for portable RFID reader can offers relatively wide-bandwidth and high-gain characteristics, in respectively. Experimental data for the return loss and the gain of the antenna are also presented, and they are relatively in good agreement with the FDTD results. This antenna can be also applied to mobile communication field, energy fields, RFID, and home-network operations, broadcasting, and other low profile mobile systems.

  • 일반적으로 유역의 기저유출 산정에는 적용의 간편성을 이유로 수평직선분리법, N-day법등을 주로 사용해 왔으며 이를 단기호우사상에 대한 모의에 적용해 왔다. 그러나 수평직선분리법이나 N-day에의한 기저유량의 산출은 연구자의 주관성이 반영될 수 있는 가능성이 다분하며 총 유출에 대한 기저 유출의 기여가 상대적으로 크게 되는 장기유출모의에 이용하기에는 효율적이지 못할 뿐 아니라 분석을 수행하는 사람에 따라서 그 결과에 많은 차이가 있을 수 있다. 그래서 최근에는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 다양한 'Digital Filtering' 방법이 수문곡선 분리에 많이 사용되고 있다. Eckhardt 필터는 출력의 신호대 잡음비가 최소화를 목적함수로 사용하는 최적선형필터의 형태를 갖고 있으며, BFImax 변수 값을 이용하여 수문분석 시 대수층별 특성을 반영할 수 있는 장점을 지니고 있다. 따라서 BFImax 변수 값에 따라서 분리된 직접유출과 기저유출 값에는 상당한 차이가 발생할 수 있는데, 정확한 수문분석을 위해서는 연구대상 유역 내 대수층의 특성에 가장 부합되는 BFImax 변수 값을 구하여야 하는 어려움이 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 감수곡선 분석방법과 최적화 기법을 이용하여 BFImax 변수 값을 결정해 주는 모듈을 사용하고 있다. 금강유역의 수문곡선분리를 위해 먼저 금강 유역 내 관측소의 강우 및 수위 일 자료를 수집하고 수위자료는 동향, 옥천, 천천, 청성, 호탄지점의 자료를 이용하였다. 관측단위는 일 단위를 사용하였다. 분리된 수문곡선에 대한 검증은 지하수관측이나 중간유출에 대한 관측에 한계가 있기 때문에 정량적인 검증은 쉽지 않은 상황이고 수문곡선에 대한 시각적 판단에 의지하고 있다. 하지만 효과적인 기저유출분리가 가능해진다면 하천 건천화에 대한 정확한 진단과 함께 기후변화에 따른 지하수 및 지표수 영향에 대한 보다 신뢰도 있는 전망이 가능해지므로 매우 중요한 연구 분야라 판단된다.

Design and Analysis on Compact Antenna for Handsets (핸드폰용 소형안테나의 설계 및 해석)

  • In this paper, the compact antenna for handsets is designed using FR-4 substrate for LTE(905-960 MHz), WCDMA(1922.8-2167.2 MHz), DCS(1710.2-1879.8 MHz), US-PCS(1850.2-1989.8 MHz), WLAN(2400-2483 MHz). The CPW line with many advantages and a spiral geometry for miniaturization is proposed. Widths of a spiral line are constant, and three stubs are added to broaden the bandwidth. Lengths and widths of three stubs are gradually changed. And proposed antenna is optimized for VSWR<3, designed, and fabricated. The dimension of this antenna is only $40{\times}30{\times}1mm3$ which is compact. It has been demonstrated by experiment that the compact planar antenna can be used as the mobile communication LTE antenna for 4G.
