Development of Coupler for Live Cable Fault Detection Based on Reflectometry (반사파 계측법 기반의 활선 케이블 고장 검출을 위한 커플러의 개발)

  • When measuring live cable faults and their location based on reflectometry, a coupler is placed between the cable and the test system. This coupler prevents damage to the test circuits by indirectly measuring the live voltage of the cable using reflectometry. It also provides a coupling path that allows the transmission and receive signal to pass into the cable. In this study, we design and construct a contact coupler to locate faults in both dead and live cables using reflectometry. The proposed coupler is of the inductive coupling type and is constructed after the calculation of the signal transmission loss by simulation. The performance of the developed coupler is tested by measuring the transmission loss and frequency flatness. The results showed that the transmission signal loss is less than -1.98dB in the frequency bandwidth above 1 Mhz. The reflectometry system was designed based on sequence time domain reflectometry (STDR) and spread spectrum time domain reflectometry (SSTDR) in order to apply it to the detection of faults and their location in live cables and tests on live cables were performed. The test results showed that the proposed coupler can be used in a reflectometry system for live cable fault detection.

Fabrication of Multiple-Frequency Exposure System for In Vitro Experiment (세포 실험용 다중 주파수 동시 노출 장치 제작)

  • Recently, we are simultaneously exposed by various electromagnetic sources due to an increase of mobile communication services. However, EMF(Electric, Magnetic and Electromagnetic Field) study has been performed mainly about only single frequency. The objective of this paper is to develop an multiple-frequency exposure system for in vitro experiment. The exposure unit for in vitro experiments was designed by radial transmission line type to get broadband characteristics to generate signals of CDMA at 836.5 MHz and WCDMA at 1950 MHz frequency simultaneously. The modulated signals were delivered to the conical antenna through amplifier, digital attenuator and RF combiner. SAR values were obtained by the averaged values of 3 measured values at 9 points in petri dish using the fiber optic temperature probe. The measured return loss was under -15 dB. For 1 W input power, the mean value and standard deviation of SAR were $0.105{\pm}0.019$ for the CDMA frequency and $0.262{\pm}0.055$ for the WCDMA frequency.

  • Recently, portable magnetic sensors with high sensitivity are strongly required for various applications such as biosensor, nondestructive testing and directional sensor. A novel magnetic sensor system was developed by utilizing giant magnetoimpedance(MI) effect of soft magnetic ribbons. The sensor system consists of sensing head of $Co_{66}Fe_{4}Si_{15}B_{15}$ ribbon having asymmetric MI characteristics through exchange coupling produced by field-annealing in open air and circuit for signal processing. The sensor system showed almost linear characteristics in dynamic range of $-1\;Oe\;{\sim}\;1\;Oe$ and sensitivity of 10.5 V/Oe. The sensor was applicable to nondestructive testing system to detect defects in wire ropes.

  • 최근, LED 구동 인버터, DC-DC 컨버터, AC-DC 컨버터 및 형광등 ballaster 등의 고전압전원장치등에 압전변압기를 적용하고자 하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 순수한 $PbTiO_3$는 큐리온도($490^{\circ}C$)가 높고, 기계적강도가 크며, 비유전율(약 200 정도)이 작다. 또한, 두께방향 진동의 전기기계 결합계수 ($K_t$)가 윤곽진동의 전기기계 결합계수($K_p$)보다 크므로 두께방향의 진동모드를 이용한 벌크파 진동자의 경우 윤곽진동방향으로 불요신호(spurious signal)가 적고, 작은 grain size($1\;{\mu}m$정도)로 미세가공이 가능하여 고주파 재료로 이용되고 있다. 압전변압기의 출력 전력을 향상시키기 위해서는 적층으로 제작하여야 하는데 적층 압전변압기 제작시 층간의 내부 전극이 도포된 상태에서 소결하여야 한다. 이때 소걸 온도가 높으면 Pd 함랑이 높은 전극을 사용하여야 하는데 Pd 전극의 가격이 비싸 소자의 경제성이 떨어지게 된다. 따라서 순수한 Ag 전극을 내부전극으로 사용하기 위해서는 $900^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 소결이 가능하여야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 $(Pb,Ca,Sr)Ti(Mn,Sb)O_3$ 조성을 이용하여 $900^{\circ}C$ 이하의 저온소결이 가능한 두께방향진동모드 적층 압전변암기를 제작하여 그에 대한 전기적 특성을 조사하였다.

  • In the present work, a sensor system composed of an oscillator sensor and a Lamb wave sensor is proposed for the purpose of structural health monitoring. The oscillator sensing system detecting the shift of a structural resonant frequency in proportion to the amount of defects in the structure is a pretty sensitive and simple device, but its detectable range is limited to its local zone. The Lamb wave sensor system, however, is applicable to global detection of the defects. This study is aimed at investigating the feasible combination of the two systems to exploits their merits simultaneously. The scheme to use PZT patches as the oscillator sensor as well as the Lamb wave sensor was proposed to identify the position, length and number of cracks by means of TOF and amplitude of signals, and its validity was confirmed through experiments.

The Study of Fire Detector Circuit with Wireless Communication (무선통신기능을 갖는 화재감지기 회로에 대한 연구)

  • For the development of fire detector equipments that was fused independent type of fire detector and a wireless communication function, this paper adopted a signal processing method of an independent formation fire sensor by a ZigBee communication method, and it was designed that the combinations of fire detector and wireless communications network were enabled. When a fire occurred, output voltage of a fire detector was 0.4 V, the movement pulse width was $600{\mu}s$, and that was confirmed by an experiment. When it has lookout state, LED worked by 30 s cycle and working current is 0.12 mA. When a fire occurred, LED worked by 0.5 s cycle and working current was 7 mA, and through this experiment of power source, Chamber tester, smoke tester,IRED, LED lighting, the propriety of the method that we showed in this paper confirmed.

  • Receive dynamic focusing with an array transducer can provide near optimum resolution only in the vicinity of transmit focal depth. A customary method to increase the depth of field is to combine several beams with different focal depths, with an accompanying decrease in the frame rate. In this Paper. we Present a simultaneous multiple transmit focusing method in which chirp signals focused at different depths are transmitted at the same time. These chirp signals are mutually orthogonal in a sense that the autocorrelation function of each signal has a narrow mainlobe width and low sidelobe levels. and the crossorelation function of any Pair of the signals has values smaller than the sidelobe levels of each autocorrelation function. This means that each chirp signal can be separated from the combined received signals and compressed into a short pulse. which is then individually focused on a separate receive beamformer. Next. the individually focused beams are combined to form a frame of image. Theoretically, any two chirp signals defined over two nonoverlapped frequency bands are mutually orthogonal In the present work. however, a tractional overlap of adjacent frequency bands is permitted to design more chirp signals within a given transducer bandwidth. The elevation of the rosscorrelation values due to the frequency overlap could be reduced by alternating the direction of frequency sweep of the adjacent chirp signals We also observe that the Proposed method provides better images when the low frequency chirp is focused at a near Point and the high frequency chirp at a far point along the depth. better lateral resolution is obtained at the far field with reasonable SNR due to the SNR gain in Pulse compression Imaging .

DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF S-BAND DIPLEXER FOR LEO TT&C APPLICATION (저궤도 위성 관제용 S-대역 다이플렉서 설계 및 제작)

  • Diplexer is one of core devices needed to communicate with satellite using single ground antenna by separating uplink and downlink signal. This paper presents the design of the S-band diplexer for LEO TT&C application, especially for KOMPSAT (KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite). To cope with requirements such as high handling power, low insertion loss, air-cavity resonator with high quality factor was considered as one of design drivers. Design was started with predicting unloaded Q and equivalent circuit from the structure of air-cavity resonator. For the convenience of adjustment, the coupling factor placed between resonators was estimated from COTSEM (Electro-Magnetic) simulator, EESOF $ADS^{TM}$, and expressed with 2-order polynomial regression. To improve the isolation between transmitting part (Tx) and receiving part (Rx), the inductive and capacitive attenuation poles were inserted between $4^{th}\;and\;6^{th}$ resonator respectively. The fabricated diplexer consists of two bandpass filters and each filter has eight resonants. From the measurement, it was shown that major requirements such as 0.5dB of insertion loss, 20dB of return loss and 100dB of isolation were fully satisfied within passband.

  • Recently, the performances of electrical and electronic devices are improving while the sizes are becoming smaller. As sound-generating systems, the two-dimensional speakers have been developed in place of conventional three-dimensional ones. Piezoelectric materials show the mechanical vibrations due to the voltage applied from outside the materials. The early film speakers had a limitations of output power in that it was not easy to make the conducting macromolecular films on the surfaces of the materials due to the internal chemical properties of materials. We have adopted the corona surface treatment in order to improve the output characteristics by increasing the adhesion of the coating material on to the surface of the center material of piezo film. The results showed the improvement of output power in the wider range of operating frequencies.

  • It has recently been combined with advanced technologies such as AR and VR, and its application range is expanding to various forms of smart signage. However, until now, digital signage service that reaches us is installed in many floating populations such as bus stops, elevators, and banks and is used in the form of providing news, weather, and advertisements. In addition, large companies, government offices, and outdoor advertising companies occupy the market. The use of such services in small and medium-sized businesses and small retail stores is costly and expensive to manage. Also, it is difficult to generalize the market because services and solutions are being deployed in the market in the form of top-down. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed a digital signage system for transmitting a remote video advertisement that uses a show window in front of the store as a beam project screen for small retail stores, and can remotely set and manage and update it in OSGi service platform.
