A Study of Characteristics and Symbolic Meanings appeared in Body Modification Commodity Ads (신체수정을 위한 상품 광고의 특성과 상징적 의미에 대한 연구)

  • 패션잡지에 실린 패션 및 뷰티 관련 상품의 광고들은 현시대의 미의 이상을 제시하고, 상품소비를 통해 이를 성취할 수 있음을 제안함으로써 신체와 관련한 미적 상징성을 보여준다. 본 연구의 목적은 신체수정을 위한 상품의 특성과 상징적 의미를 확인하는 데 있으며, 이를 위해 여성잡지 Vogue와 남성잡지 GQ 광고 중 화장품과 바디케어 용품 광고를 선정하여, 이를 신체의 특성, 즉 색상, 볼륨과 비율, 형태와 구조, 텍스쳐, 향의 측면에서 구분하여 조사하였다. 그 결과, Vogue와 GQ 모두 다양한 종류의 신체수정을 위한 상품광고를 선보이고 있었으며, 상대적으로 Vogue가 GQ보다 더 많은 양과 종류의 상품 광고를 보이고 있었다. 신체의 특성에 따른 상품의 비중을 보면, Vogue는 신체의 색상과 관련한 시각적인 면이 높게 나타났고. 반면, GQ는 신체의 골격과 형태미, 볼륨과 비율, 그리고 향과 같은 덜 시각적인 면에서의 상품비중이 높았으며, 텍스쳐와 관련한 상품은 비슷한 비율로 나타났다. 이들 상품광고의 텍스트와 이미지에서 보이는 특성은 다기능성. 자연성, 개별성으로 구분할 수 있으며, 세계적 미의 추구, 젊음과 건강 이데올로기, 젠더 무경계화라는 상징적 의미를 내포하고 있다.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 사회.문화적 관점에서 한.미 여성의 이상적인 미, 바디이미지, 그리고 외모행동을 비교조사 하는데 있다. Open-Ended Questions에 의한 연구 결과, 이상적인 미로 미국여성이 \"키크고 마른 신체 매력성\"을 추구한 반면, 한국여성은 \"내적인 미\"와 \"서구적인 신체 매력성\"을 추구하는 것으로 나타났다. 이상적인 미를 추구하기 위해 미국여성은 주로 신체의 하체부분, 한국여성은 얼굴부분을 많이 가꾸고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 외모행동으로는 한국여성은 화장이나 피부관리 등에, 미국여성은 excercise나 다이어트 등을 많이 하고 있었다. 사회.문화적 이상적인 미에 비교해 볼 때 두 집단 모두 자신의 외모에 대해 만족하지 못하는 편으로 나타났다. 또한 두 나라 집단의 여성들은 각 나라마다 사회.문화적 이상적인 미가 각각 존재해야 함에도 불구하고 현재에는 이상적 미의 기준이 문화에 관계없이 동일한 편이라고 응답을 하였다. 본 연구에서는 사회.문화적 집단주의와 개인주의 개념을 토대로 이러한 연구결과들이 논의되어 진다.주의 개념을 토대로 이러한 연구결과들이 논의되어 진다.

  • This study discusses the beauty of the ideal body shown by fashion communication media, and explains how aesthetic aspects of, the body are being expressed in contemporary fashion. The beauty of the body may be considered as the beauty of sexual, controllable or consumable object. First. the most vigorously discussed point about the body is its sexual aspect, the most outstanding of which is the voluptuous and the androgynous beauty in contemporary fashion. Second, the body is an object which has been oppressed or controlled under the name of history. morality. and rationality. The things making us regard the body itself as an aesthetic object may be considered as dynamic and functional beauty Third, the sexual instinct and the body are fetishized as consumer goods, and women's bodies are presented as comsumer objects whose most parts could be restored to exchangeable value. The consumable beauty presented in contemporary fashion is the conspicuous beauty and the decadent beauty. So far, the various aspects of the beautiful body has been considered, based on the beauty of the ideal body shown by the fashion communication media. Man exists through on his body. but it is the embodied and formed body that serves as a means to manifest his social status and cultural ties. A natural body is reformed as a cultural phenomenon in various artificial ways. Popular culture has transmitted a series of new body image by creating and reproducing symbols and images, and has made the ideal body. Now there is not only one standard for the ideal beauty in our society. The standard of the beauty has changed continuously. There has been an aesthetic sense which can represent the times during the process of those changes. The various communication media have played a role of mirror reflecting those changes. The ideal body in contemporary times is no more an abstract media to express classical beauty, but an object directly affecting us, who are living in the crisis of subjectivity and identity.

The Study of Ideal Body Images based on the Product Types in Fashion Magazine Advertisement (패션잡지 광고상품의 유형에 따른 이상적인 신체미에 대한 연구)

  • Attitudes about the ideal body are influenced by media, including fashion magazine advertisements. The purpose of our study was to analyze the ideal body image for males and females in contemporary society. We analyzed the contemporary ideal gender image through the examination of physical characteristics(body type, age), and fashion styles(hair, make up, supplements, clothing styles, body exposure) in fashion advertisements published in Gentlemen's Quarterly(GQ) and Vogue issued during 2002. The results indicate some blurring in masculinity and femininity resulting in gender neutralization and naturalness pursuing natural appearances. But, some previous beauty norms related to masculinity and femininity remained.

  • The beauty of the body could separately be defined from area to area, but there can't be any universal definition of it that is applicable throughout the world. The modern discourses on the body have frequently dealt with that, and the beauty of the body should be studied in light of sociocultural background. In today's world fashion industry, the body is represented in various ways, and how to express the body itself is considered from diverse perspectives. As it's now required to approach to fashion from the sociocultural standpoint of the body. a semiotic interpretation method was introduced. The reason was that from the viewpoint of semiotics, the beauty of the body has different implications for society as cultural sign, and they also could be regarded as sociocultural codes. In order to improve new light on the aesthetic consciousness of the body and how it's represented in modern fashion, earlier studies and existing theories were examined. The semiotic interpretation method was used to find out what the aesthetic consciousness of the body stood for and what implication it had for fashion. And in which way fashion represented aesthetic consciousness, including satire, pleasure, grotesque and decadence, through the body was examined. Fashion creates an artificial beauty of the body, and change in the body is followed by change in fashion.

  • Stanislavsky's acting system is based on the sensory memory of an incident that an actor has actually experienced, but Michael Chekhov insisted that in relation to the acting technique of actors, they should find the virtual and unreal external stimuli caused by emotion and imagination irrespective of their personal experience. As such, Stanislavsky's acting system and Michael Chekhov's acting technique are very different in terms of the acting method used. In actual acting, however, the acting system and the acting technique should have a close relationship. Any acting performed by an actor cannot be totally psychological or physical because the body and the mind cannot be separated. It is for this reason that all kinds of training should be both psychological and physical training and should not be conducted only mechanically. Acting is the ability of actors to imagine the virtual or fictitious reality and to express their indignation ability onstage. As actors stimulate and train their own fantasy and imagination, they can greatly improve their ability to embody or express the inner world of the characters they are portraying in a play.

Related Factors to Physical Inactivity of Residents in One Metropolitan City (일개 광역시민의 신체비활동 관련 요인 분석연구)

  • 본 연구는 일개 광역시 주민들 4000명을 대상으로 일반적 특성, 건강행태 관련 특성, 신체비활동 정도를 조사하여 신체비활동의 유발요인에 대해 알아보고자 시행되었다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 걷기운동 미실천 수준의 경우 연령, 교육수준, 의료보장, 직업, 기초생활수급유무, 독감 예방접종, 체중조절시도, 고위험음주, 스트레스 인지정도, 지역사회 운동프로그램참여, 운동시설의 접근성이, 중등도 이상의 운동 미실천의 경우, 성별, 연령, 월 소득, 가구소유, 건강검진 여부, 체중 조절 시도, 현재 흡연 여부, 지역 사회 운동 프로그램참여가 통계적으로 유의했으며, 이 변수들을 이용하여 신체비활동 수준을 결과변수로 하는 로지스틱 회귀분석을 시행하여, 걷기운동의 경우 20대에 비해서 30대가 1.46배, 40대가 1.57배 미실천률이 높고, 사무직이 전문행정관리직에 비해 1.37배, 체중조절을 시도하지 않은 군이 한 군에 비해 1.70배, 스트레스를 많이 느낀 군이 안 느낀 군에 비해 1.58배, 조금 느낀 군에 비해 1.38배, 운동시설 접근성이 어려운 군이 쉬운 군에 비해 1.75배정도 높은 것으로 분석되었고, 중등도 이상 운동의 경우 여자의 경우 남자에 비해 미실천율이 1.74배, 체중조절시도를 안한 군이 한 군에 비해 1.63배, 지역사회운동프로그램참여 안한 군이 한 군에 비해 2.36배 높은 것으로 나타났다. 고령화 사회로 가고 있는 현 상황에서 여러 가지 만성질환이 대두되고 있고, 이에 따른 신체활동의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 하지만 우리나라의 경우 신체활동 실천율이 낮은 것이 현실이다. 신체활동의 실천율을 향상시키기 위해서는 신체비활동 결정짓는 요인들에 대해 우선 파악해야 한다. 분석결과 가장 차이가 나는 것은 운동시설의 접근성과 지역사회운동프로그램의 불참군에서 가장 신체비활동이 큰 것으로 파악되었다.

Effects of the Physical and Social Characteristics of Elderly Women on Self-Esteem and Life Satisfaction (여성 노인의 신체적·사회적 특성이 자아존중감 및 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the factors of the physical and social characteristics, self-esteem as well as life satisfaction of elderly women, and analyzed the effects of the physical and social characteristics on self-esteem and life satisfaction. The survey was conducted from January 10 to February 10, 2011 among the elderly women aged 60 or older in the Guri-si and its environs of Gyeonggi-do, and 380 responses were used in the data analysis. The statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. As a result, the physical characteristics of elderly women were classified by the activities of daily living(ADL), physical function, and disease status. The social characteristics of elderly women were classified by the religious and social activities. ADL, physical function, religious and social activities were shown to influence the self-esteem. In addition, ADL, physical function, and religious activities influenced the life satisfaction of elderly women.

Expression of Grotesque Body in Chris Cunningham' Work (크리스 커닝햄의 작품에서 표현된 그로테스크 신체)

  • In the recent past, the impression expressed by a human body expanded from that of aesthetic beauty to deformed organic medium influenced by environment. And the advancement in digital technology had made it possible to represent the deformed and distorted images of human body more realistically. Consequentially, these exaggerated physical images leave audiences with a feeling of grotesqueness. Chris Cunningham is a British director who mainly focuses on grotesque body as his subject matter using digital media. This paper will explore Chris Cunningham's work and his final goal through analyzing his carnivorous, uncanny grotesque body images, making use of the figital media, at each of his different levels.
