So far we oriental medical doctors have referred to Shin(腎) as endocrine system, especially suprarenal gland, sexual gland and autonomic nervous system, thyroid etc. as well as kidney. But the sight on thyroid is weak and the relationship with Shin(腎) hasn't been suggested clearly. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between Shin(腎) with thyroid. The following are the results. 1. Ki Gi(氣機) of Shin(腎) is similar to the fuction of thyroid in that they are the base of human metabolism, influencing all the metabolism of human tissue. 2. Shin Yang(腎陽) and thyroid hormone are almost identical in that they are the base of Yang Gi(陽氣), the former as source of heat energy, the latter as energy hormone. 3. Shin(腎) and thyroid hormone are almost the same in that they activate growth of human body. 4. Ki Gi(氣機) of Shin(腎) such as Ju Gol(主骨), Saeng Su(生髓), Tong uh Noi(通於腦) is similar to the effects of thyroid hormone on bones, central nervous system and hair 5. The symptoms of deficiency of Shin Eum(腎陰虛) are almost identical with those of hyperthyroidism, so the process of Yang Hwa Gi(陽化氣) caused by exuberance of Yang due to deficiency of Shin Eum(腎陰虛陽亢) is similar to excessive metabolism caused by hyperthyroidism. 6. The process of Eum Seong Hyung(陰成形) caused by preponderance of Eum due to deficiency of Shin Yang(腎陽虛陰盛) is similar to the lowering of metabolism caused by hypothyroidism. 7. Deficiency of Shin Eum(腎陰虛) is similar to hyperthyroidism, deficiency of Shin Yang(腎陽虛) to hypothyroidism. But there are major difference in edema and the fuction of intestine. To conclude, Ki Gi(氣機) of Shin is similar to the function of throid in many respects. I hope that there will be further studies on the relationship beteen thyroid malfuction with deficiency of Shin Yang(腎陽虛) or of Shin Eum(腎陰虛) in the future.

Purpose: This paper is aim to report the effects of Sopungsan-gamibang(消風散加味方) on the Dermatoses Gravidrum. Methods: Two women who had been suffering from itching, plague, erythema during pregnancy were enrolled in this study and they were diagnosed Dermatoses Gravidrum. They received oriental treatment such as herbal medicine. we gave them Sopungsan-gamibang 3 times. During the treatments, we requested them to visit hospital twice a week. If they could not come to hospital, we called them to take follow-up. Conclusion: This clinical cases indicate that Sopungsan-gamibang is effective in treatment of the Dermatoses Gravidrum and can prevent chronic progress and relapse of symptoms. More clinical data and studies are requested for the treatment of Dermatoses Gravidrum.

예산-공주-청양 지역에는 여러 큰 규모의 활석 광상이 분포한다. 이 지역에서 산출되는 활석 광석은 초염기성암 기원의 사문암이 열수변질작용을 받아서 주로 생성된 것으로알려져 있으며 녹니석, 운모, 각섬석 등의 규산염 광물들은 불순물로 다량 함유하고 있다. 활성 광석에 포함되어 있는 이들 함철규산염 광물들을 분리해 내고 활석 광석의 품질을 향상시키기 위하여 고구려배자력분리방법을 실험적으로 적용함으로써 활석 광석의 정제법을 강구하고자 하였다. 활석광석을 구성하고 있는 광물들의 자기적, 광물학적 특성을 토대로 하여 인공 혼합 표준 시료와 활석 광석 시료를 준비하고 이들을 대상으로 각각 실험하였다. 정제 실험 결과 고구배자력분리기를 통과한 정광의 경우 활석의 양이 증가하였고 다른 불순광물들의 양은 현저히 감소하였으며 활석 광석의 백색도에 있어서는 대흥광산의 원광석의 경우 60.6에서 65.5로, 평안광산의 경우 61.6에서 65.0으로, 신양광산의 경우 71.2에서 74.5로 향상되었다.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of eating Saengshik and applying Hwangryunhaedok-tang on skin for pregnant woman diagnosed as Pruritus Gravidarum. Methods : This case study was done on 5 Pruritus Gravidarum patients who had visited Korean Medicine Clinic. All the patients are treated with Saengshik and Hwangryunhaedok-tang was applied on their skin. VAS(Visualanalogue scale) and photographs were used to evaluate the symptom change. Results & Conclusion : Most symptoms of patients were improved in this study. Saengshik and Hwangryunhaedok-tang can be effective in patients who were diagnosed as Pruritus Gravidarum.

Objectives: This case study described a process of the pruritus gravidarum patient diagnosed as Tae-eumin Exterior-Cold-Disease by Cold in the Esophagus. Methods: We experienced one patient who had been suffering from itching and plaque during pregnancy. We diagnosed her case as Tae-eumin Exterior-Cold-Disease by Cold in the Esophagus and treated with Jowiseuncheong-tang and Jiyang-go. Results: She was treated with herbal therapy, and her symptoms were remarkably alleviated. Also after all treatment, there were no adverse effects such as a recurrence of severe itching or fetal problems. Conclusions: This clinical case indicates that Jowiseuncheong-tang is effective in treatment of Tae-eumin Exterior-Cold-Disease by Cold in the Esophagus type of pruritus gravidarum.

Recently, the use of renewable energy has been attracted due to the interest in energy-saving and the reduction of CO2 emission. In order to reduce the energy consumption of the cooling and the heating in the field of the architectural engineering, heat pump systems using renewable energy have been developed and used in various applications. In many researches, integrated heat pump systems are suggested which use solar and geothermal heat as the heat source for cooling and heating. However, it is still difficult to predict the performance of the systems, because the characteristic of heat exchange in each system is complicated and various. In this system, the performance prediction simulation of the heat pump was developed using a dynamic simulation model. This paper describes the summary of the suggested systems and the result of the simulation. The average temperature of the heat source, heating loads and COP were calculated with the cases of different local conditions, different system composition and different operation time by TRNSYS 17.
