The aim of this study is to see the change of the general characteristics and frame of nuclear power plant news in Korea from comparing the before Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan on March 11, 2011 with the after. To this aim, the national daily newspapers and the local daily newspapers in Busan located nuclear power plants were selected, and the content analysis of the newspaper stories about nuclear power plants was done. In research results, the stories about nuclear power plants in Korean newspapers increased greatly after Fukushima nuclear accident. Before the accident the nuclear power plant stories about economy held a large majority, while after the accident the stories about society held. Fukushima nuclear accident served as the momentum that the nuclear power plant stories in Korea became main news. Meanwhile, the frame of nuclear power plant stories in Korean newspapers changed greatly after the accident. Justly the environmental security frame increased greatly, because of increasing greatly the stories about security of nuclear power plants with Fukushima nuclear accident. Particularly in the local daily newspapers in Busan before the accident the environmental security frame was 29.3% of stories about nuclear power plants, and after the accident the frame was 77.6%.

This study examines newspaper obituaries in Korean media and English media. Initially, 100 Korean obituaries were collected from the JoongAng Ilbo which span over more than three years, from May 2011 to August 2014. After that, another 50 Korean obituaries were gathered from the DongA Ilbo which were published over the same time period with the JoongAng Ilbo. As for English newspapers, obituaries from the New York Times and the Guardian were included in the corpus for comparison. First, the structure and composition of obituaries in each language (Korean and English) are compared. Korean obituaries show a pattern of a combination of a death notice and an obituary. Second, distinct features of each newspaper are discussed. The JoongAng Ilbo has its obituary section titled "Life and Memories", and the DongA Ilbo's obituaries are under the heading of "Rest in Peace." Obituaries in the New York Times appear in print on different pages of the paper according to the deceased's field of interest. Following discussion of formal structure and characteristics of each newspaper, Korean and English obituaries will be compared in terms of content and cultural context.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of wearable keywords using text mining methodology. To this end, 11,952 newspaper articles were collected from 1992 to 2019, and frequency analysis and bi-gram analysis were applied. The frequency analysis showed that Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Apple were extracted as the highest frequency words, and smart watches and smart bands continued to emerge as higher frequency in terms of devices. As a result of the analysis of the bi-gram, it was confirmed that the sequence of two adjacent words such as world-first and world-largest appeared continuously, and related new bi-gram words were derived whenever issues or events occurred. This trend of wearable keywords will be useful for understanding the wearable trend and future direction.

이 논문은 한글 뉴스 기사의 댓글에 대한 감정 분류 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 기계학습을 이용하는데 본 논문에서는 자질의 가중치를 재조정하는 좀 색다른 방법을 제안한다. 일반적으로 댓글은 독자들이 특정 기사에 대해서 어떠한 감정을 가지고 있는지를 파악하는 중요한 단서가 된다. 그런데 독자들의 감정은 가사에 어떤 분야에 속하느냐에 영향을 받는다. 예를 들면 정치 기사는 부정적인 댓글은 많이 포함하고 있으며 인물 기사는 긍정적인 기사를 많이 포함한다. 이 논문은 이와 같은 댓글의 속성을 이용해서 기사의 원문과 기사의 분야 정보를 이용하여 가중치를 조정한다. 제안된 시스템의 성능을 평가하기 위해 신문 기사와 댓글을 수집하여 감정 말뭉치를 구축하였으며 감정자질을 추출하기 위해 감정 사전을 구축하였다. 제안된 시스템의 $F_1$ 척도는 92.2%였으며 원문의 감정 단어와 분야 정보가 댓글의 감정을 분류하는데 중요한 자질임을 알 수 있었다.

This study explores the headlines of the metro sections posted in the major domestic news media during 1998 and 2009 and examines if the media contribute to construction of the reality. The data were systematical sampled from three main evening news programs representing each broadcasting company and the seven major nationwide newspapers (n=53,765). Results suggest the selection of news items should be influenced by the property of the regime and the trend for the time. This influence led to similarity among the news media to some extent, which are partially explained by the objectivity principle guiding the whole process of news making. Meanwhile, there was clear difference among the news media in general, and between the medium (broadcasting vs. newspaper) and within a medium, more specifically. The difference can be explained by the interaction of the property of the regime and the trend for the time and other factors including journalistic paradigm and ownership of each company.

Nowadays, diverse mass media discovers and introduces outstanding management cases of apartment complexes to induce vital competitions of constructors and active participation of residents to apartment management. This study statistically analyzed the management issues of outstanding apartment complexes that have been introduced by mass media with lexical criteria to examine the characteristics of their exemplary management. The key issues of outstanding apartment management are summarized as: efficient management of convenient facilities for residents, community activities based on residents' participation, and maintenance of pleasant living environments through transparent management. Also, the result of the relation arrangement of co-occurrence word from a Social Network Analysis included three key concepts of multi-family housing management - Maintenance Management, Operating Management, and Community Life Management - with emphasis on 'residents' and 'apartment complexes.' However, Operating Management was relatively deemphasized.

While search portals' 'Portal News' account for the largest portion of aggregated news outlet, its neutrality as an outlet is questionable. This is because news aggregation may lead to prejudiced information consumption by recommending biased news articles. In this paper we introduce a new method of measuring political bias of news articles by using deep learning. It can provide its readers with insights on critical thinking. For this method, we build the dataset for deep learning by analyzing articles' bias from keywords, sourced from the National Assembly proceedings, and assigning bias to said keywords. Based on these data, news article bias is calculated by applying deep learning with a combination of Convolution Neural Network and Recurrent Neural Network. Using this method, 95.6% of sentences are correctly distinguished as either conservative or progressive-biased; on the entire article, the accuracy is 46.0%. This enables analyzing any articles' bias between conservative and progressive unlike previous methods that were limited on article subjects.

Graphene, called the "dream material" is drawing attention as a groundbreaking new material that will lead the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Graphene has high strength, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, excellent optical permeability, and excellent gas barrier properties. In this paper, as the South Korean government recently announced Green New Deal and Digital New Deal policy, we analyze graphene technology, which is also attracting attention for its application to Corona 19 biosensor, to understand its national R&D trend and knowledge structure, and to explore the possibility of its application. Firstly, 4,054 cases of national R&D project information for the last 10 years are collected from the National Science & Technology Information Service(NTIS) to analyze the trend of graphene-related R&D. Besides, projects classified as green technology are analyzed concerning the government's Green New Deal policy. Secondly, text mining analysis is conducted by collecting 500 recent graphene-related articles from e-newspapers. According to the analysis, the field with the largest number of projects was found to be high-efficiency secondary battery technology, and the proportion of total research funds was also the highest. It is expected that South Korea will lead the development of graphene technology in the future to become a world leader in diverse industries including electric vehicles, cellular phone batteries, next-generation semiconductors, 5G, and biosensors.

There have been enormous social impacts on many areas, including science journalism, since the so-called "Hwang Woo Suk" incident. Although wide demand for better science journalism has been aroused since then, but it is hard to find an evidence to prove we have reached the point. This study examines how major Korean newspapers report Unidentified Flying Objects in order to test if the level of science journalism had been elevated. As results, still it is a long road ahead to achieve the goals because most reports were taken from the international news agents or from the witnesses rather than scientific researches and analyses; terminologies used in the stories were ambiguous; follow-up stories were rare, the sources were usually pseudo-scientific, wanton errors in basic facts and coherence, and other problems were found. It could be suggested that the dependency on supplied news to be reduced, journalists who understand both science and journalism are required, inner regulations on science reporting to be established, correct quotations and fact-checks to be accomplished, fairness to be maintained within the boundary of normal science.

In an attempt to teace trands in fashion journalism based on the examination of recent fashion magazines in korea, this study has dealt with the followings: the number of articles on fashion, image of fashion, characteristics of articles, change in "coordinate" and titles, and length of time of publication. The results of this study follow: 1. Among the general magazines for ladies whose titles have been changed, those dedicated to the "Ms class" have increased the pages on fashion and coverage of casual brand: those for housewives have shown no change in contents despite the change in titles, 2. The length of time of publication does not affect the change in the number of articles on fashion. General magazines for ladies have shown the greater "coordinate" in articles on fashion. 3. In terms of the contents of articles on fashion, those devoted to fashion and clothing are specialized and innovation-oriented, whereas general magaines stress the provision of more practical information. 4. The emergence of the X-generation and the newer generation has resulted in positioning of clothing crand, making them chief tarhet readers.ing them chief tarhet readers.
