우리나라의 식품산업은 2002년도에 약 36조3천8백억원의 매출을 기록하여, 국내총생산(GDP)의 $5.9\%$를 차지하고 있으며, 제조업 총생산액의 $20.3\%$를 차지하여 국내제조업의 견인차로 평가받고 있다. 또한 제조업별 부가가치 순위는 전자, 화학, 자동차산업에 이어 4위를 점하고 있으며, 고용유발계수도 평균이상을 유지하고 있다. 이와 함께 식품산업은 모든 소비재 중 생존을 위해 없어서는 안된다는 점에서 특별한 위치를 점하고 있다. 하지만 우리의 식품산업은 약 18,000업소가 생산활동에 참여하고 있으나 종업원 10인 이하 사업장이 $78.1\%$를 차지하며, 상위 47개 사업장이 식품산업 총 매출액의 $52\%$를 점유하고 있는 영세구조로 이루어져 있다. 행정측면에서 보면 그간 안전성 확보를 위한 규제중심의 행정에 치우쳐 산업진흥을 위한 특별한 지원이 매우 부족한 실정이다. 그러나 이와 같은 식품산업의 구조적 영세성은 식품산업이 갖는 경제적 측면 이외에 특별한 위치 즉, 국민보건분야에 있어서의 중대성과 함께 산업으로서의 발전을 위한 국가차원의 전략적 지원이 필요한 분야이다. 이와 함께 식품산업은 BT분야에 있어 적용가능성이 높고, 성공확률이 높아 국가의 지원이 우선적으로 배려되어야 한다. 이를 위하여 본 장에서는 식품산업의 생산$\cdot$수출입현황, 식품산업의 경제적 위치를 분석하여 중요성을 부각하였다. 국내외 식품산업지원정책의 파악을 위하여 식품안전관련 법령의 소개와 산업지원을 위한 산자부 등 관련부처의 지원정책을 제시하였으며 미국, 유럽, 일본 등 주요국가의 바이오 기능식품을 중심으로 한 정부의 BT 지원정책을 소개하였다. 이와함께 우리나라의 식품산업의 연구개발 동향을 분석하고, 미국, 유럽, 일본의 식품산업의 중점 연구개발동향을 소개하였다. 상기의 식품산업분석, 지원정책, 외국의 BT지원 사례 등을 참조하여 우리 식품산업의 환경분석과 문제점을 제시하였으며 전망을 분석하였다. 식품산업 정책의 개선방향으로서 제도의 개선, 위해평가 수행체계의 도입, 식품유통의 효율화 기반조성 및 지원, 산업지원을 위한 추진정책, BT산업으로서 식품산업의 진흥책 강구 등의 전략을 제시하였다.

우리나라의 고령인구 수가 점점 늘어남에 따라 시니어 식품산업에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 고령친화산업에 대한 연구는 "고령친화산업진흥법"이 제정된 2006년 이후 본격화되어 시니어 소비자, 의류, 금융 등 분야에서 연구되고 있으나, 시니어 식품산업에 대한 산업구조분석 연구는 미미한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 미래 유망 성장 산업으로 기대되는 시니어 식품산업에 대해 마이클포터의 5 forces model을 적용하여 경쟁자를 파악하고, VRIO분석을 통해 내부자원을 분석하여 실질적인 시니어 식품산업의 경쟁력을 제고할 수 있는 전략을 도출하고자 한다. 이는 향후 관련 산업의 경제적 가치와 수요에 영향을 미치는 요인, 기업 내부 역량별 시장성 분석 등을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 것이다.

지난해 우리나라의 포장산업의 총 매출규모가 국민총생산의 2퍼센트 선에 이르고, 이같은 포장산업의 매출에서 식품 및 관련제품의 포장생산 비중이 55퍼센트가 넘는 것으로 추정되고 있다. 그만큼 식품산업과 포장산업은 가장 밀접한 관계에 놓여 있으며, 이 두 산업이 보조를 나란히 하여 발전해왔다고 볼 수 있다. 본지는 이번호부터 식품포장에 대한 전반적인 내용을 기획연재한다. 이번호에는 식품과 포장산업 제하의 글에서 종합적인 내용을 개괄하고, 계속해서 식품포장의

Since the food industry, including the agricultural production, is the largest industrial sector in Myanmar, the Myanmar government and industry have a strong willingness to develop the food manufacturing industry despite the limitations of investment, production and technological level. Particularly, the Myanmar government recognizes that the agricultural product-based food industry is an essential element for national economic growth, and is promoting various policy efforts for the industrial development. Therefore, the overall status of the food industry in Myanmar has been reviewed in this study. Also, the TASK (Technology Advice and Solutions from Korea) project in the food processing sector as an ODA (official development assistance) program has been specifically addressed in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Korea and Myanmar in the near future.

The food R&D operating system needs to be changed according to the changes in the food industry as well as the domestic and overseas environments. In this aspect, a future-oriented food R&D operating strategy linked with the governmental policy are proposed to foster the promising food industry. The strategic R&D approaches are summarized on the basis of global mega-trends and food industry trend analysis, and current R&D status and issues are also reviewed to set the R&D operating direction for future food industry. To advance the R&D operating system of the food industry, some practical suggestions are given as follows: strengthening the research planning system for efficient R&D program operation, enhancing the role assignment and collaboration among the R&D organizations, reinforcing the support system tailored to industrial sites and securing the future technology bases as well as resolving present issues, and linking R&D programs with policies and improving the food R&D management system.
