The Embdedded Software of Development Process & Quality Evaluation Method (임베디드 소프트웨어의 개발 프로세스와 품질평가방법)

  • Recently use of embedded software has been increased to different areas. The requirements and demands for the embedded software have also been altered. In the past, the embedded system was used in simple task and small portable devices but now, the usage of the embedded software has expanded to do much more complex and precise actions in a variety platform environment. The embedded software enables multiple softwares to be integrated into one and at the same time, control it. Currently the biggest challenges embedded software is facing during its development process is the improvement in product production and quality assurance. Our research team has developed an embedded software based on the component (technology or methodology) which both improves production capabilities as well as quality. Additionally, we also established and constructed a reliability test system which can effectively test the quality of the developed embedded software to further increase its competiveness.

Comparative Study between Design Methods and Pile Load Tests for Bearing Capacity of Driven PHC Piles in the Nakdong River Delta (낙동강 삼각주에 항타된 PHC말뚝의 지지력을 위한 재하시험과 지지력 공식의 비교연구)

  • Deep foundations have been popularly installed in hard stratum such as gravels or rocks in Korea. However, it is necessary to consider sand or sandy gravel layers that locate at the mid-depths as the bearing stratum of piles in the thick Nakdong River deltaic deposits, as done in the Chaophraya (Bangkok) and Mississippi River deltas. This study was focused on the finding of suitable methods for estimating bearing capacity when driving prestressed high-strength concrete (PHC) piles to a required depth in the deltaic area. Ground investigation was performed at five locations of two sites in the deltaic area. Bearing capacity of the driven piles has been computed using a number of proposed methods such as CPT-based and other analytical methods, based on the ground investigation and comparison one another other. Five PDA (pile driving analyzer) tests were systematically carried out at the whole depths of embedded piles, which is a well-blown useful technique for the purposes. As the results, the bearing capacities calculated by various methods were compared with the PDA and static load testing results. It was found that the shaft resistance is significantly governed by set-up effects and then the long-term value agrees well with that of the $\beta$ method. Also, the design methods for toe resistance were determined based on the SLT result, rather than PDA results that led to underestimation. Moreover, using the CPT results, appropriate methods were proposed for calculating the bearing capacity of the piles in the area.

  • 하천의 하상재료는 토양 유실량 및 유사량 산정, 유사이송, 하상변동, 하천환경 등 여러 분야에 영향을 미친다. 하상재료는 강수 및 유량 등 여러특성들의 상호작용으로 인해 지속적으로 변화하며, 하천 분야의 각종 해석 및 영향 평가 등에 이용되는 활용성을 감안하여 하상재료는 체계적인 관리시스템이 필요하다고 판단된다. 효율적인 하상재료 관리를 위하여 한국수자원조사기술에서 수행한 하천유역조사, 유사량조사, 하도변화 모니터링 사업을 통해 수집된 자료를 활용하였다. 국내 109개 하천(한강권역 39개 하천, 낙동강권역 23개 하천, 금강 34개 하천, 섬진강 5개 하천, 영산강 8개 하천)에 대한 자료를 수집하고 분석하여 하상재료관리시스템(Bed Material Management System, BMMS)을 구축하였다. BMMS는 GIS 기반으로 구축된 시스템으로 관리, 표출 및 분석이 가능하며 하상재료의 위치정보, 하상재료 성분비 및 유효경 등 총 11개로 구성되어 있다. 하상재료조사는 시료채취 방법과 표층조사 방법으로 조사하였으며, 시료채취는 체가름 시험과 비중 시험을 이용하였고 표층조사는 BASEGRAIN 프로그램을 이용한 표층 영상분석을 통해 입도분포, 입경가적곡선 등을 나타내었다. 향후 이용자의 편의성을 위한 방안을 모색 중에 있으며, 하천별 하상재료 분석자료를 정기적으로 축척하여 국내 하천의 지역적 특성을 고려한 매개변수 산정 및 최적화에 도움이 될 것이라 판단된다.

  • The continuous deployment of Urban Traffic Information System (UTIS) in Korea has increased the need for developing more practical applications utilizing the standard functions of UTIS facilities installed on urban arterials beyond its basic applications like gathering traffic data and providing traffic information. The UTIS-based bus signal priority may be one of UTIS-based applications meeting such demands. However, the studies on BSP have not been sufficient for actual field deployment in terms of theories and algorithms so that there have been few actual installations on real urban arterials. Thus, this study was aimed at developing a UTIS-based bus priority signal system and evaluating its effectiveness through a field study. To this end, this study presents the system development processes by dividing the UTIS-based bus priority signal system into hardware and software. In addition, the positive effectiveness of the UTIS-based bus priority signal system was verified through a field application test which was conducted at Gyeonggi Global Trade High School intersection.

Durability Evaluation on the Air-Braking Release Failure Proof Valve of Cargo Train (화물열차 공기제동 완해불량 방지 밸브의 내구성 평가)

  • Cargo train braking uses the pressure changes in the air braking pipe to operate the braking tightening and releasing service repeatedly. Air-braking release failure means partial braking caused by a failure of the variable load valve after the driver handling the brake release. This phenomenon causes wheel flaws while driving a wagon, resulting in wheel breakage or train derailment. This study developed the air-braking release failure proof valve considering the technical requirements of the railway operation corporations. In addition, a durability test of the valve was carried out using a braking performance simulator, and its operating performance was evaluated from the pneumatic history under cyclic braking conditions. The warranty life of this valve was assessed by performing 160,000 cycles of testing of 12 prototypes in accordance with the zero-failure test method, considering the number of braking cycles while driving the wagon. During the durability test, the pneumatic input time, output time, and release velocity were almost constant. The warranty life of this valve was 59,860 times the 95% confidence level, which means that it can be operated without trouble for four years when the valve is installed in the bogie of the wagon.

  • This paper has theoretically and practically reviewed the ISO (International Standard Organization) 17123-8 standard not only to raise the appropriateness for introducing performance criteria of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) surveying equipment based on RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) accuracy but also to derive its proper test procedure by introducing the international standard. Field experiments have been performed to appreciate the GNSS-RTK accuracy of five selected receivers via the full testing procedure of the ISO standard, which statistically compares the so-called experimental standard deviations with themselves and with the reference accuracy. A series of statistical tests have revealed that the RTK accuracy of the same class receivers is not identical, whereas that of the different classes can be equivalent. Such a result evidences the urgency of adopting an RTK accuracy-based specification of the GNSS equipment to the performance standard, currently referenced to the static observation technique only. It is believed that this transition helps the maximization of a new generation of cost-effective receivers to legal surveying applications. Finally, this study proposes the ISO full test, comparing an experimental standard deviation with its referenced value, for a potential field verification procedure of the new performance standard.

A Study on the Standard Architecture of Weapon Control Software on Naval Combat System

  • The Weapon Control Software performs the function of supporting weapon operation within the Naval Combat System in connection with the Weapon System. As Weapon Control Software depends on an Weapon System, it has the characteristic that software modification is unavoidable with the change in Interface information. Modification of software causes an increase in development costs since it must take verification step such as software reliability test. In this paper, We design the standard architecture of weapon control software to minimize the modification elements of existing weapon control software. For Interface information management, Feature Model were applied to make a division between common factor and variable factor. In addition, Strategy Pattern were applied to improve the software design. Software evaluation test results show that new architecture provides better modifiability and reuse than existing software as well as the cost of development decrease.

  • Quality assurance may be defined as the complete set of systemic actions that is required to achieve a better treatment result by standardizing treatment and by using various audit programs. In general, application of a quality assurance program in surgery is considered to be more difficult than it is in chemotherapy or radiotherapy. However, recently, the importance of quality assurance in the surgical field has been emphasized in clinical trials comparing different surgical procedures and evaluating the role of postoperative adjuvant therapy. In the case of gastric cancer surgery, excellent quality assurance programs have rarely been applied in most large prospective clinical trials. Although the quality assurance in Dutch trial was conducted very systemically and strictly, the situation is quite different from ours. On the other hand, several quality assurance programs in Japanese trials comparing D2 and D2 plus para-arotic lymph node dissection seem to be applicable to Korean clinical trials. Several factors, including selection of appropriate surgeons based on personal experience and annual number of operations, standardization of surgical procedures by education and consensus, development of a unified database program, application of standardized perioperative management, and standardization of pathologic examination, are required to guarantee a successful multi-institutional prospective clinical trial. In contrast, one needs to realize that protocols that are too strict and sophisticated can make the enrollment of patients and surgeons more difficult and can promote protocol violation during the clinical trials.   • This study aims to develop technology for testing and verifying the space radiation environment of miniature space components using the facilities of the domestic 100 MeV proton accelerator and the Space Component Test Facility at the Space Testing Center. As advancements in space development progress, high-performance satellites increasingly rely on densely integrated circuits, particularly in core components components like memory. The application of semiconductor components in essential devices such as solar panels, optical sensors, and opto-electronics is also on the rise. To apply these technologies in space, it is imperative to undergo space environment testing, with the most critical aspect being the evaluation and testing of space components in high-energy radiation environments. Therefore, the Space Testing Center at the Korea testing laboratory has developed a radiation testing device for memory components and conducted radiation impact assessment tests using it. The investigation was carried out using 100 MeV protons at a low flux level achievable at the Gyeongju Proton Accelerator. Through these tests, single event upsets observed in memory semiconductor components were confirmed.

A Study on Freezing Characteristics of Pavements Using Data of Test Road (시험도로 자료를 이용한 포장의 동결특성 연구)

  • To prevent the lowering of structural capability due to freezing and thawing in cold winter, numerous researches on frost heaving have been performed. As the result, the freezing index contour map of the Korea peninsula has been made for the design of the anti-freezing layer of pavements. However, the validity of the anti-freezing layer needs to be evaluated because systematic investigations on the variation of freezing depth with the thickness and material types of pavement layers and the configuration of the ground have been rarely performed. The freezing index of the Korea Highway Corporation test road site was calculated and the freezing depths of the concrete and asphalt pavements of the test road were investigated using the ambient and pavement temperature and water content. In addition, the investigated freezing depths were compared to the values estimated by existing freezing depth models. This is the preliminary study on the freezing-related data measured at the test road. The results with higher reliability will be produced by the long-term accumulation of the data and the analysis on it.
