  • The study analyzes how to create stereoscopic image in 3-dimension animation 'Yggdrasil', produced in Autodesk Maya(3D animation software), using Anaglyph method that is the oldest in 3-dimension stereoscopic video production. The anaglyph method help to produce stereoscopic images easily and to give effective 3D effect encoding each eye's image using filters of different colors. In addition, space direction applied visual perception theory expresses necessary distance, depth and speed effectively in 'Yggdrasil'

  • For satisfying consumer needs, commercial facilities require a variety of sale-related space expressions and eye-catching product arrangements; space composition can also be a direct marketing strategy. The human eye is the sensory organ that acquires the largest amount of information, and an analysis of visual information helps in understanding visual relations between . However, the existing studies are mostly focused on analysis of still frames in experimental images, and there is a lack of studies analyzing gaze information based on mobile images of commercial spaces. Therefore, this study analyzed emotional responses through gaze information of space users in reality using a video of a movement route through a commercial facility. The analysis targeted straight sections of the moving route; based on the data acquired, sectional characteristics of five gaze intensity ranges were examined. As a result, section A, the starting point of the route, had a low gaze intensity, while section B had the highest gaze intensity. This indicates that, starting in section B, the subjects explored the space in a stable way and needed time to adapt to the experimental video. In relation to space characteristics of the gaze-concentrated area, display formats of the right stores in 4 of 6 sections received greater attention. The gaze of consumers was mostly focused on props, and big gaze information was revealed in showcase display formats of the stores. In conclusion, this analysis method can provide highly useful direct design data about merchandise display and merchandise component arrangement based on consumer visual preference.

  • The digital colour reproduced on a display can be transferred to the image through various colour spaces, and the colour transferred to the image is one of the most important factors, among both subjective and objective factors, in image quality evaluation. Therefore, the digital colour must be continuously studied objectively and quantitatively along with the display development. At the same time, the subjective evaluation should be accompanied by systematic and quantitative research as the visual characteristics must be fully reflected. In this study, we applied different lightness levels of the background in order to examine the movement phenomenon of colour properties among the digital colour properties reproduced on the display. A psychophysical experiment was conducted for the condition where various colours were presented in the background, and the size of the colour stimulus was divided into the foveal vision and peripheral vision. Based on the evaluation results of the experiment, the colour properties movement phenomenon is identified according to the lightness of the background and the size of the colour stimulus for five colours among KS basic colours selected by experimental stimulus. Furthermore, a research direction to reproduce colour on displays in the future is proposed.

  • 본 연구에서는 객관적 환경지표와 그에 대한 인간의 주관적 반응간 의 인과적 관련도의 중요성이 강조된다. 좀 더 구체적으로, 거주자의 주관 적 반응인 주거만족과 객관적 환경지표의 하나인 주거환경유형들(건물유형 과 건물배치유형)과의 인과적 관련도가 본 연구에서 중점적으로 토의된다. 한국의 6개 대단위 공동주택단지가 본 연구의 대상지로 선정되었고, 표본 추출시 건물유형과 건물배치유형을 고려한 다단계 표집방법(multistage sampling)이 사용되었다. 설문면답방법(modified structured survey)에 의해 646명의 처리 가능한 응답이 수거되었다. 인과모형 검증의 첫 단계로서 다 수의 설문문항을 원래 관심있는 소수의 변수로 정선, 추출하기 위한 방법 으로 요인분석이 사용되었다. 요인분석으로부터 정선, 추출된 변수를 이용 해서 본 연구의 가설모형이 정립되고, 그 모형을 검증하기 위한 방법으로 경로분석이 사용되었다. 분석결과를 요약해 볼 때, 건물유형과 건물배치유 형 모두가 거주자의 지각, 인식, 태도 등의 적절한 매개변수들을 통해 거주 자의 주거만족에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 건물유형은 일반 적으로 저층주거에서 고충주거로 바뀌면서, 거주자의 주거만족에 부정적인 영향을 미치고 있음이 확인되었고, 고층주거가 거주자에게 주는 시각적 단 조로움, 과밀감, 그리고 주차장을 포함한 옥외공간 이용상의 불편들과 또 그들로 인한 낮은 안전성 및 경관에 대한 불만족 등이 그 이유로서 밝혀졌 다. 건물배치유형의 경우, U자형의 배치유형이 선형배치유형에 비해 과밀 감 해소, 시각적 명료성 향상, 그리고 옥외공간 이용상의 편리 등 및 또 그 에 따른 경관에 대한 만족의 향상 때문에 거주자의 주거만족을 높이는 데 유리한 것으로 나타났다. 주거와 관련된 설계 및 계획분야를 위한 여러 다 양한 제안들이 본 연구에서 제시되고, 추후 관련 연구들을 위한 가능성들 도 토의되었다. 그 유용성 때문에, 아직 많은 이론적, 방법론적, 그리고 분 석상의 문제에도 불구하고, 객관적 환경지표들과 이용자들의 만족을 포함 한 다양한 주관적 변수들과의 관계를 경험적으로 밝히려는 시도가 계속되 어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

A visual function of wall in the fashion speciality store (패션전문점에 있어서 벽의 시각적 기능에 관한 연구)

  • Creative environment for sales that a company's image can be effectively delivered to consumers increases consumption desirability and puts confidence in products. Thus, it can be resulted in increasing company's profit. However, nowadays commercial spaces do not show their differences from others due to an excessive competition. Therefore, groping a differentiated composition for commercial spaces should be importantly considered because consumers wants to meet their own individuality in the fashion speciality store. The purpose of this paper is in present the way of differentiating images for commercial spaces. In order to investigate, the role of a wall in commercial spaces should be reconsidered. The concept of a wall in fashion store in the past was understood as one of the structures in the building and a place that displays commodities for sales. However, this paper introduces a new concept of a wall as an important visual function in the fashion store. In other words, the new concept emphasized functions and compositions of a wall in the perspective of symbolic and visual sides, instead of a physical side. Moreover, this paper presents the relationship between the internal side of a wall which has a high frequency of visually and the external side of a wall which has a signaling effect to the consumers. Finally, this paper shows effective way of expressing company's image in the fashion store by adopting the new concept of a wall composition.

Stereoscopic depth of surfaces lying in the same visual direction depends on the visual direction of surface features (표면 요소의 시선방향에 의한 동일시선 상에 놓여있는 표면의 입체시 깊이 변화)

  • When two objects are tying in the same visual direction there occurs abrupt depth change between two objects, which is against the assumption of the computational model for stereopsis on the surfaces in a natural scene. For this reason, this stimulus configuration is popularly used in the studies for the effectiveness of the constraints employed in the computational model. Contrary to the results from two nails (or objects) tying in the same visual direction, the two different surfaces from random-dot stereogram (RDS) in the same situation can be seen simultaneously in the different depth. The seemingly contradictory results between two situations my reflect the different strategies imposed by binocular mechanism for each situation during binocular matching process. Otherwise, the surfaces tying in the same visual direction is not equivalent situation to two objects tying in the same visual direction with regards to matching process. In order to examine above possibilities, the stereoscopic depth of the surface was measured after manipulating the visual direction of the surface elements. The visual direction of each dot pair from different surfaces in RDS (in Experiment 1) or the visual direction of line (hawing rectangle with regard to that of the vertical line (in Experiment 2) was manipulated. The stereoscopic depth of the surface was found to be varied depending on visual direction of the surface elements in both RDS and line hawing stimulus. Similar to the results from two nails situation depth of the surface was greatly reduced when each surface element was tying in the same visual direction as that of the other surface element or the other object. These results suggest that binocular mechanism imposes no different strategy in resolving correspondence problem in both two objects and two surfaces situation. And the results were discussed in the context of usefulness of the constraints employed in the computational model for stereopsis.

A Study on the Visual Phenomenon of Natural Light in Interior Space (실내공간에 있어 자연광에 의한 시지각적 현상에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to present the visual phenomenon of natural light in the interior space. The continuously changing natural light define the visual phenomenon of the architectural space. First, the objective of this study was finding the importance of the visual phenomena which were generated from correlating natural right with the interior space. And the second was to categorize the factors of the visual phenomenon which can be useful factors for modern interior design practice. As a result of this study, two visual phenomena were classified. First; territorial phenomenon: dividing, partitioning, and sectioning by natural light, Second; phenomena by the inflow methods of natural light; a) by direct inflow; transparency, expansion, and floating, b) by filtering fixtures; the architectural structure, color, and the transluscent material, c) by dramatic spacial present of natural light, d) by the sense of direction of naturel light; continuity, and transformatiov. Found and classified each factor is not presented by itself, rather compounded forms. Because of the limited analysis of modern buildings, these found visual factors can not represent all phenomena. But if we practice these finding factors to design present interior space, it is sure of being very valuable factors to re-introduce the overlooked natural light into interior space.

The Effect of Street Gardens on Psychological Restoration (도심 가로정원의 심리적 회복효과에 관한 연구)

  • Street gardens, a series of streetscape improvement projects led by Seoul City Government, are initiated for the purpose of providing aesthetic satisfaction and mental refreshment to pedestrians. In order to investigate whether street gardens indeed promote the psychological health of the users, questionnaire surveys were conducted on three selected street gardens - at Gangnam-daero, Digital-ro, and Teheranro - and their comparison sites located on the same streets, which have a similar physical environment but without a street garden. The survey questionnaires, based on Attention Restoration Theory, were composed of Perceived Restorativeness Scale-11 with the eleven individual questions grouped into four categories: 'Fascination', 'Being away', 'Coherence', and 'Scope'. The survey questionnaires also ask about physical components that promote psychological improvement in the aforementioned categories. The collected data was analyzed with factor analysis, reliability analysis, and independent t-test. The results suggested that street gardens had a relatively positive effect on the psychological restorativeness of the users. In particular, they gave fascination and interest to the users. However, they did not offer a feeling of being away to the users, which revealed the limitation in the psychological improvement effect of street gardens. The physical components of the street garden that have led the psychological restorativeness effect were wooden bench, tree, and flower. This result corresponds to an extant theory that natural factors have a positive effect on the psychological restorativeness within a hardscape. This research will shed light on the planning and design guidelines for the street garden project.

A Study on the Sequence Analysis Technique of Urban Landscape Color and Urban Color Characteristics in accordance with Spatial Openness - Focusing on the View of the Daegu Monorail - (도시 경관색채의 시퀀스 분석기법과 공간 개방도에 따른 도시색채 특성연구 - 대구광역시 지상철 조망을 중심으로 -)

  • This study, views the color of scenery not as a static state, but rather as a continuous sequence of perceptions that incorporates the concept of time. This study derived techniques to quantitatively analyze the flow and data from this sequence. By utilizing this, urban color trends can be based on openness. This is very close to what would be experienced by an actual viewer: it extracted color data and visual amount from frames at 2-second intervals by shooting a video of the color sequence of the city as seen from both the left and right sides from the inside of the monorail (line 3 of the Daegu urban railway). These images were classified by color group, brightness, chroma, high chroma distribution derived techniques such as openness of space, brightness level, clarity level, high-chroma distribution and code, advantage of visual amount, dominant factor exposure, hot and cold color image and dynamic of sequence rhythm. During the derived sequence, the data determines the openness in the visual amount of sky and it was found that the tendency of the colors of the city was opening regression analysis. The more colorful the city is opening the brightness is lowered, the chroma increased slightly, cold colors significantly increased, which also had a very deep relationship with Lynch enclosed proportion, color change of the city trends through the actual scenery could grasp in more detail.

Subjective Evaluation of Loudspeaker Layouts for a Large Dome (대공간 스피커 배치 방식의 주관적 평가 연구)

  • The present study tried to provide useful data for the acoustic design of sound amplification system with measuring and analyzing subjective preference and intelligibility by varying the number of speakers and their directivity. The results suggest that the room absorption plays a key role in subjective responses of listeners and the large sound absorption of ceiling contributes to the increase of intelligibility. Also, larger number of speakers with narrow directivity improves perceived intelligibility when speakers were installed at the lower height. However, the highest degree of intelligibility and preference were obtained when speakers were installed close enough to the sound absorptive ceiling. The highest intelligibility and preference were observed when 8 to 10 speakers with the directivity of 60 degree were used.
