항해용 레이더 펄스변화와 파랑계측의 연관성

  • 항해용 X-band 레이더는 물표탐지를 통한 안전한 항해를 목적으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 해당 목적을 위해서는 노이즈로 간주되는 해면반사파(sea clutter)신호는 제거하여 사용하지만, 본 연구에서는 노이즈로 간주되는 해면반사파 신호를 활용하여 파랑에 대한 정보(파고, 파주기, 파향 등)를 파악하는데 활용하였다. 레이더에서 방출되는 전자기파는 펄스의 길이에 의해 탐지할 수 있는 영역이 제한되어 있다. 펄스의 길이가 짧을수록 짧은 주기의 파랑을 계측할 수 있다는 장점이 있지만, 거리의 제약으로 인하여 대형선박의 실 운항시에는 활용하기 어려운 현실적인 딜레마가 있다. 본 연구에서는 삼성중공업, 오션알앤디가 개발한 WaveFinder 시스템을 이용하여 기존 short pulse 모드 뿐만아니라 midium pulse 에서의 활용 가능성을 실제 시운전을 통해 확인하였다.

소음저감형 12인승 로터추진식 비미니탑 에어보트 개발

  • 에어보트(Air boat)는, 판옥선처럼 선체 밑바닥이 편평한 형태로 되어있어 물위는 물론 일반 선박이 갈 수 없는 얕은 수면, 개펄, 빙상, 늪지수풀 위를 달릴 수 있는 모터보트의 한 종류이다. 선체상부 뒤쪽에 장착된 로터의 회전에 의한 풍력으로 추진되며, 로터 바로 뒤에 방향키가 있다. 선체 재질로는 스틸, FRP가 주로 사용되고 있으며 최근 알루미늄, 탄소섬유의 적용이 늘어나고 있다. 수상크루징, 낚시, 스쿠버 등에 활용되며, 선저의 독특한 형상으로 인해 군사용, 인명구조용, 수산물수송용 등으로도 사용된다. 이 연구에서는 12인승 비미니탑 에어보트를 설계, 제작하고 해상 시운전을 실시하였다. 또한 소음저감을 위해 머플러를 설계 제작하고, 35노트에서 75~78dB 수준으로 성능을 검증하였다.

Software-In-the-Loop based Power Management System Modeling & Simulation for a Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier (SIL 기반 액화천연가스운반선 전력관리시스템의 모델링 및 시뮬레이션)

  • With the increasing risk in building liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGC), pre-simulation of various scenarios is required for system integration and safe operation. In particular, the power management system (PMS) is an important part of the LNGC; it works in tight integration with the power control systems to achieve the desired performance and safety. To verify and improve unpredicted errors, we implemented a simulation model of power generation and consumption for testing PMS based on software-in-the-loop (SIL) method. To control and verify the PMS, numeric and physical simulation modeling was undertaken utilizing MATLAB/Simulink. In addition, the simulation model was verified with a load sharing test scenario for a sea trial. This simulation allows shipbuilders to participate in new value-added markets such as commissioning, installation, operation, and maintenance.

Estimation of External Forces and Current Variables in Sea Trial by Using the Estimation-Before-Modeling Method (모델링 전 추정기법을 이용한 조종시운전시의 외력 및 조류 변수 추정)

  • The current is considered in the conventional manoeuvering equation. This equation is represented as the nonlinear state and measurement equations in which external forces and the direction and the velocity of current are augmented as that variables. The external forces are modeled as the third-order Gauss-Markov processes and the direction and the velocity of current are assumed to be constant. The augmented state variables are estimated with extended Kalman-Bucy filter and the fixed-interval smoother. While Hwang estimated motion state variables, hydrodynamic coefficients and the current variables simultaneously by using extended Kalman filter, external forces of surge, sway and yaw and the direction and the velocity of current are the only parameters to be estimated in the estimation-before-modeling method. The current variables are satisfactorily estimated in simulation process where the measurement noise is present.

프로펠러 보호터널 부착 연안어선 개발에 관한 연구

  • 최근 우리나라 어선어업은 한중일 어업협정, 연안 어업자원 감소 및 연안오염 등 사회적, 환경적 변화가 급변하고 있어 이들을 고려한 어선 선형개발이 필요로 한다. 현재 우리나라의 어선 중 연안지역에서 조업하는 5톤 미만의 소형어선은 전체 어선 중 $65\%$ 이상으로 구성되어 있으나 선박의 크기가 작고 부가가치가 낮은 관계로 지금까지 전문적인 연구는 거의 없었던 것이 현실이다. 한편, 서$\cdot$남해 연안에서 작업 및 항해하는 연안어선들의 해양사고 발생율은 전체사고의 $69.6\%$로 매년 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 전체 어선 안전사고 중 부유폐어망, 로프 등이 추진기에 감긴 사고는 전체 사고의 $10.4\%$로 매년 증가하고 있다. 이에, 추진기 손상에 의한 어선 사고와 연관하여 추진기를 보호하기 위한 장치로서 물분사 추진기(Water-Jet), 펌프제트(Pump-Jet)장치들이 있으나 이들은 고가 수입품으로서 영세한 어민들의 소형어선에 장착하기에는 한계가 있어, 본 연구에서는 폐그물, 로프 등 해상 부유물에 의한 추진기 손상이 발생되지 않는 프로펠러 보호터널 부착 추진장치를 개발을 목적으로 한다. 프로펠러 부착 추진장치는 기존 선미를 수정하여 추진기를 선체 안쪽으로 배치하며 돌출되는 부분은 덕트로 보호하고 있으며 이러한 추진기는 워터제트 추진기와는 달리 가격이 싸고 그물이나 부유물에 걸리지 않고 고장 시 신속한 대응이 쉬워 소형 연안어선에 적합할 뿐만 아니라 그물, 부유물, 갯벌이 많은 국내의 서$\cdot$남해 연안에서 작업 및 항해 시 매우 유용할 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구는 `프로펠러 보호터널 부착 연안어선의 선형개발`을 최종목표로 수행하였으며, 연구개발 내용은 기존 소형 연안어선의 분류 및 특성 조사 연구, 프로펠러 보호터널형 선미 선형 개발, 기존 선형 및 보호터널형 선형의 모형시험, 개발선의 구조강도 특성, 프로펠러 설계 및 단독시험, 보호터널 부착 추진기의 효율 검증 및 개발 대상 어선의 조선공학적 제 계산, 설계도작성 등을 실시하였다. 주요 요소 기술로서는 프로펠러 보호터널 부착 선형의 모형시험을 통하여 선미선형을 개발하며 FRP판부재의 구조강도 특성을 분석하고 그 결과를 활용하여 4톤급 연안어선의 시제선을 건조하고 시운전을 통하여 주요성능을 확인하였다.

A study on an instantaneous angular velocity and torque fluctuation for marine diesel engine (선박용 디젤 기관의 순간 각속도와 토크 변동에 관한 연구)

  • The demand for shipboard energy management is expected to gradually increase based on ship energy efficiency management plans (SEEMPs), which have been in use since January 1, 2013. Therefore, the fuel consumption of the main engine, which occupies the greatest portion of the energy used, along with elements related to the engine power, should be strictly monitored. There are many different methods for indicating the engine power. However, this study performed an experiment to monitor the status of a ship's engine power in real time using an encoder and a proximate switch, which are economical to purchase and easy to install. In the experiment, the angular velocity during one cycle of a two-stroke low-speed engine was measured, and the measured data were converted to the torque fluctuation. The angular velocity during an abnormal firing condition in the cylinder was also measured, and the torque fluctuation as a result of a misfire was considered. The results were compared with sea trial data to determine the reliability. In this study, the status of the engine power was determined using the torque fluctuation of the main engine in an operating ship.

  • The procedure and the results of the full scale strain measurement of the long-range high-speed foil catamaran are described. The wave induced stresses at the center struts of the foils were measured during the sea trials in order to evaluate the hydrodynamic force acting on the foils and to verify the structural safety of the foil structures. From the statistical properties of the measured response of the stress, the most probable maximum values of the lift force and the stresses at the foils in service life of the ship are predicted and compared with the design parameters of the foils which were applied in the design of the subject ship. The available prediction processes of the measured stress are studied and the results of the applied processes are compared with each other.

A Study on the Propeller Thrust for a Moored Ship (계류중인 선박의 프로펠러 추력 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Shipbuilder checks the status of main engine and propeller operation before sea trial. Generally these tests are carried out at a quay during fitting out of the ship. For these tests the operator has to estimate the maximum RPM with permissible torque and thrust to ensure the safety of the mooring line and ship. In this paper, the propeller characteristics according to the draft variation for a moored ship is inveatigated. From these tests, it is shown that shaft submergence is a dominant parameter in the propeller performance at shallow shaft submergence and that the propeller performance is dependent upon the propeller RPM when the shaft submergence is kept unchanged. In this study, a simple formula of the required thrust for a given propeller shaft submergence and propeller RPM is derived. 1be propeller thrust, which is calculated by another formula in case of dtep draft, is compared with results of bollard pull test for FPSO.

  • A power management system (PMS) has been an important part in a ship integrated control system. To evaluate a PMS for a liquefied natural gas carrier (LNGC), this research proposes a real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS), which is composed of major component models such as turbine generator, diesel generator, governor, circuit breaker, and 3-phase loads on MATLAB/Simulink. In addition, FPGA based control console and main switchboard (MSBD) are constructed in order to develop an efficient control and a similar real environment in an LNGC PMS. A comparative study on the performance evaluation of PMS functions is conducted using two test cases for sharing electric power to consumers in an LNGC. The result shows that the proposed system has a high verification capability for the operating function and failure insertion evaluation as a PMS simulator.

A Study on Evaluation Method of Member Forces on the Propulsion Shaft of Ship for Damage Protection of Clutch (선박 추진축계 클러치 손상방지를 위한 축계 부재력 평가방법 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the proper evaluation method of member forces on the propulsion shaft using strain gages to confirm bearing offset. The strain measurements to find out the bending moments of the shaft have been performed in the yard to be compared with the results of the shaft alignment analysis. The clutch of the propulsion shaft is highly sensitive to shear forces as well as bending moments and the necessity of the measurement of shear forces on the shaft for normal operation of the clutch is recently on the rise. In this study, an evaluation method of the member forces (bending moments and shear forces) of the shaft clutch based on the shaft strain measurement is established. Through the application of this method to the eight $216,000\;m^3$ LNG carriers, the safeties of the clutch systems are evaluated and the better bearing offsets are deduced for the LNG carriers. After adjusting the bearing offsets, all the sea trials of the eight LNG carriers are successfully carried out without any troubles.
