A Study on the Differences in Cognition of Design Associated with Changes in Fashion Model Type - Exploratory Analysis Using Eye Tracking - (패션 모델 유형 변화에 따른 디자인 인지 차이에 관한 연구 - 시선추적을 활용한 탐색적 분석 -)

  • In this study, an eye-tracking program that can confirm a design cognition process was developed for the purpose of presenting strategic methods to create fashion images, and the program was used to identify what effects fashion models' external characteristics have on the cognition of design. The data for analysis were collected through an eyemovement tracking experiment and a survey, with the focus on the research problem that differences in models' external uniformity will lead to differences in the eye movement for perceiving models and design as well as the image sensibility. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, it was confirmed that the uniformity of model types and the simplicity/complexity of design led to differences in the eye movement directed at design and models and the gaze ratio. Consequently, it is deemed that models should be selected in consideration of the characteristics of design and the intention of planning when creating fashion images. Second, it was found that in terms of the cognition of design, external conditions of models affect design sensibility. A change in models led to a subtle difference in sensibility cognition even when the design condition did not change. Thus, not only the design but also model attributes are factors that should be considered important in fashion planning.

  • Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a tool used to study brain activity caused by external stimuli. In this process, artifacts are mixed and it is easy to distort the signal, so post-processing is necessary to remove it. Independent Component Analysis (ICA) is a widely used method for removing artifact. This method has a disadvantage in that it has excellent performance but some loss of brain wave information. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce EEG information loss by restricting the filter coverage using eye blink information obtained from Eyetracker. We then compared the results of the proposed method with the conventional method using quantization methods such as Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Spectral Coherence (SC).

  • 항공기, 차량, 유도탄 둥과 같은 동적인 플랫폼에서 표적을 추적하기 위해서 시선을 안정화하는 외부의 추적 루프와 내부의 안정화 루프(또는 속도 루프)가 있고, 또한 표적을 추적하기 전 표적을 지향하고 포착하기 위해 김발을 동체에 대해 일정한 각도로 유지하기 위한 위치 루프도가지고 있다. 일반적으로 안정화 루프는 각속도를 측정하기 위한 검출기로 자이로를 사용하고, 위치 루프는 김발각을 제어하기 위한 위치 검출기를 사용한다. 그러나 안정화 루프에 사용되는 자이로는 루프 성능을 최적으로 하기 위해서 고성능/고가의 자이로가 사용되는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 위치 루프에 사용되는 위치 센서인 리졸버를 사용하여 고성능/고가의 자이로 센서 없이 안정화 루프를 설계하였고, 리졸버를 사용하여 설계된 안정화 루프가 동적인 플랫폼에 사용될 수 있는지 시뮬레이션 결과와 실험 결과를 통해 분석하였다.

  • 본 연구는 웹사이트의 효율적이고 경험 디자인(User Experience Design : UX 디자인)적 설계가 가능하도록 사용자의 시각궤적을 통해 주시빈도를 확인한다. 사용자 경험치에 따라 웹 포털 사이트를 세 가지로 분류하고 와이어프레임을 제시하여 각 사이트의 화면분할과 정보영역을 분석한다. 시선추적 장치를 통해 세 가지 와이어프레임의 시각궤적 및 주시빈도를 확인하여 시선이 머무는 히트맵을 제시한다. 이를 통해 웹사이트의 디자인 설계시 페이지나 화면에 보이는 요소들의 효율적 배치를 위한 주시영역을 살펴본다.

  • The present study used one of research techniques which is eye gaze tracking for neuromarketing. When pupil's size of men dilated over than three sigma (0.135%), the interest and eye movement in observation were measured. According to statistical analysis of previous studies, three sigma range is meaningful therefore sigma range was used as operational definition because 'pupil dilatation' is difficult to be define in eye gaze tracking data. Pictures of basketball games were selected as visual stimuli and 90% effective ratio of total 7,200 data were calculated. Thus, 29 of 34 participants were used for test. Pupil's size was calculated by applying pupil's width and height into a formular; [Pupil's size = Pupil width/2${\times}$Pupil height/$2{\times}{\pi}$]. In conclusion, billboard utilized for sports marketing had meaningless effects because gaze frequency to basketball player and surrounding environment was higher than that to billboard when participantsas game spectators diltaed their pupil's size over than three sigma. Thus, it was required using new marketing strategies like neuromarketing to increase utility through the present study.

The Effects of Emotional Interaction with Virtual Student on the User's Eye-fixation and Virtual Presence in the Teaching Simulation (가상현실 수업시뮬레이션에서 가상학생과의 정서적 상호작용이 사용자의 시선응시 및 가상실재감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the eye-fixation times on different parts of a student avatar and the virtual presence with two scenarios in the virtual reality-based teaching simulation. This study was to identify user attention while he or she is interacting with a student avatar. By examining where a user is gazing during a conversation with the avatar, we have a better understanding of non-verbal communication. For this study, forty-five college students (21 females and 24 males) participated in the experiment. They had a conversation with a student avatar in a virtual reality-based teaching simulation. The participants had verbal interactions with the student avatar with two scenarios. While they were having a conversation with the virtual character in the teaching simulation, their eye-movements were collected through a head-mounted display with an eye-tracking function embedded. The results revealed that there were significant differences in eye-fixation times. Participants gazed a longer time on facial expression than any other area. The fixation time on the facial expression was more prolonged than on gestures (F=3.75, p<.05). However, the virtual presence was not significantly different in two scenario levels. This result suggested that users focus on the face more than the gesture when they emotionally interact with the virtual character.

The Effect of SBF Question on Conceptual Achievement and Eye Movement in Seasonal Constellation Learning of Elementary School Students (초등학생의 계절별 별자리 학습에서 SBF 질문이 개념성취와 시선이동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to study to the effect of presenting SBF questions on the level of conceptual achievement and eye movement of elementary students in seasonal constellation learning that requires systems thinking. In this study, the effectiveness of SBF questions was divided into experimental groups and comparison groups, and scientific texts with different question types were presented to analyze the level of conceptual achievement and differences in eye movement of sixth-grade elementary students. Data analysis quantitatively analyzed the pre- and post-test results of the developed concept test paper and the eye movement data when learning scientific texts related to seasonal constellations. As a result of the study, first, the SBF question was a valid learning strategy for learning seasonal constellations. The SBF question showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) in the pre- and post-test between groups, and a statistically significant difference (p<0.001) in the pre- and post-test within the group. Second, SBF questions had a positive effect on students' learning by inducing learners with low preconceptions to area of interest that help them achieve concepts. In other words, when presenting SBF questions with visual data from a space-based perspective, it was confirmed based on the results of eye movement analysis that there was a significant difference in total fixation count (p<0.01) of learners. On the other hand, for learners with high scientific preconceptions, the effect of exploration was not significant because the preconceptions of the learners themselves acted as a hard core rather than the effect of SBF questions. This study is different from existing seasonal constellation learning studies in that it provides quantitative data through pre- and post-test and eye movement analysis in the seasonal constellation learning process, and can help elementary students learn seasonal constellations.

How do Formats of Health Related Facebook Posts Effect on Eye Movements and Cognitive Outcomes? (페이스북 건강정보 게시물 형식이 시각적 주의와 인지결과에 미치는 영향)

  • Visual information is widely used to deliver health information more effectively on social media, but there is lack of research on how effectively visual information delivers health information on social media. This study reports Facebook users' reading patterns and cognitive tests (recall and recognition tests) results using health-related Facebook posts. For this study, 21 college students participated in online questionnaire, eye tracking experiment, and recall and recognition tests. First, users paid their attention to the area that contains information (i.e., users focused on the main text rather than photos that do not contain information). Second, in the case of Facebook posts containing infographics, users paid their attention on the infographics, but the recall and recognition test results of the posts with infographics were lower than the posts containing photos. Particularly, when the infographics are in a complex collage format, recall and recognition tests result lower scores. Third, regarding the length of the text, the Facebook posts with short text resulted in higher recall and recognition test scores than the posts with medium or long texts. This study suggested to Facebook health information providers and distributors how to design Facebook posts for delivering health information more effectively.
