A Simulator for the Design and Operation of the Steel Mill (제강.연주 공장 설계와 운영을 위한 시뮬레이터)

  • Stiff competition and skyrocketing prices of raw materials are increasingly demanding the optimal design and operation of iron and steel mills minimizing trial and error. Computer simulation can provide the methodology in accordance with requirements. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a simulator for the design and operation of the steelmaking and continuous casting mill. The simulator was developed using Arena, popular simulation software and input and output interface based on MS Excel. It allows easy access for the maintenance and extension of the model. One of distinct features of the proposed simulator is the inclusion of complex transportation modules composed of transfer cars and overhead cranes. The simulator can be used for evaluating various alternative designs of a projected mill via throughput analysis and material flow analysis. Also, one can utilize it effectively to search for the best product mix suitable for many types of situations. It could be an invaluable tool evaluating the performance of operation patterns and improving the accuracy.

  • In this paper, a general purpose molecular simulation system which has been developed by the author, are described. One of the most advantageous features is that the molecular simulation system can handle a coarse-grained model as well as an all-atom mode. Therefore, we can simulate mesoscopic phenomena as well as microscopic phenomena with the help of Langevin dynamics simulation and dissipative particle dynamics simulation techniques. Thus we could study anesthesia, protein folding, biopolymer flow in microchannel with single framework, which spans from microscopic to mesoscopic scales. We expect that we can also simulate many other bio/nano systems of technological importance which are not feasible by means of molecular dynamics simulation technique. Finally, performance data are shown and a bottleneck is identified for future optimization.

A Fundamental Study for Proper Application of Lighting Simulation Software (조명시뮬레이션 소프트웨어의 적합한 사용을 위한 기초적 연구)

  • Use of various lighting simulation software has been increased Lighting simulation software can be categorized into two types. One is for optical design while the other is for estimation and analysis of lighting design. Photopia 2.0 is typical software for optical design of a luminare and Lumen-micro 2000, Relux 2006, Lightscape 3.2 and AGI 32 are software for lighting design. Through using various lighting simulation software some different results can be found under the same conditions. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to compare measured and simulated photometric data of different types of luminaires and to compare simulated values from Lumen-micro 2000, Relux 2006, Lightscape 3.2 and AGI 32 under the same conditions. In addition, the reasons for such differences are analyzed.

A Development of Intelligent Simulation Tools based on Multi-agent (멀티 에이전트 기반의 지능형 시뮬레이션 도구의 개발)

  • Simulation means modeling structures or behaviors of the various objects, and experimenting them on the computer system. And the major approaches are DEVS(Discrete Event Systems Specification). Petri-net or Automata and so on. But, the simulation problems are getting more complex or complicated these days, so that an intelligent agent-based is being studied. In this paper, we are describing an intelligent agent-based simulation tool, which can supports the simulation experiment more efficiently. The significances of our system can be described as follows. First, the system can provide some AI algorithms through the system libraries. Second, the system supports simple method of designing the simulation model, since it's been built under the Finite State Machine (FSM) structure. And finally, the system acts as a simulation framework by supporting user not only the simulation engine, but also user-friendly tools, such as modeler scriptor and simulator. The system mainly consists of main simulation engine, utility tools, and some other assist tools, and it is tested and showed some efficient results in the three different problems.

A Simulation Study on the Overhaul Repair Shop of Weapon System (전면정비방식의 무기체계 정비공장에 대한 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • Overhaul and repair service means the sequential processes of disassembly, repair and reassembly for a product which has been used for a long time. Overhaul is required for the companies producing airplanes, ships, trains, military weapons and heavy industrial equipments which are very expensive and have a long life cycle. The most important performance measure of the overhaul repair shop is usually the lead time. Thus, how to design the manufacturing system to meet the delivery date is a major concern in overhaul repair shop. This paper introduces the case study of an overhaul repair shop producing military weapon systems with the 3D simulation tool, $QUEST^{TM}$. At first, the characteristics of overhaul shop and what should be considered for simulation modeling are explained. Then, various simulation scenarios including two types of disassembly systems, one is flow line system and the other is cell system, are discussed with the results of simulation experiments.

  • This paper is to analyze the efficiency of power consumption in logistic systems that are based on self-driving roller conveyors by the simulation technology. The improvement of the efficiency brings advantages for reducing greenhouse gas emission and logistics costs. A self-driving roller conveyor is operated only when products are loaded on itself. Thus, the self-driving roller conveyor systems consume less electric power than continuous-driving roller conveyor systems. In this paper, we design a DEVS (Discrete-Event based System) based simulation model and construct self-driving roller and continuous-driving roller conveyor models. For the verification and validation of the designed simulation system and conveyor models, we model a corresponding logistic model for the experimental environment and compare between the model and a real system. The main objective of this paper is to describe the power consumption advantage of self-driving roller conveyor based logistic systems using a simulation method.

LNA and Mixer Design for Partial Discharge Monitoring System (부분방전 모니터링 시스템에 적용 가능한 LNA 및 믹서 설계)

  • 본논문에서는 300MHz~500MHz대역에서 -80dBm~-30dBm의 레벨로 발생하는 초고압 전력기기의 부분방전을 감지 할 수 있는 RF 모듈에 적용 가능한 LNA와 믹서를 설계하였다. 모니터링이 가능하도록 시스템 버짓을 실시하고, 설계된 부품들을 하나의 모듈로 합쳐 시뮬레이션 함으로써, 시스템의 목표에 맞게 설계 되었음을 확인하였다. LNA와 필터, 두단의 믹서를 통해 BPF로 가는 헤테로다인 방식을 사용하였으며 이중 설계된 가장 첫 단의 LNA와 주파수 합성 역할을 하는 첫 단 믹서를 다른 이상적인 소자들과 함께 시뮬레이션 하였으며, 그 결과 300MHz~500MHz대역에서 가변이득증폭기의 가변이득 폭이 14dB ~ 56dB까지 변할 때 출력신호가 20MHz에서 3 ~ 5dBm으로 일정하게 나오는 것을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, the band pass filter was designed and constructed for personal communication services of information facilities. For the band pass filter design, after dielectric resonator structures were analyzed. J-inverter design theory and its simulation method were studied. The parameters obtained from design theory were practically applied to filter construction. The simulation results are well agreed with the measured result of constructed filter after fine tunings.

Robust Controller Design of Manta-type Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (만타형 잠수정의 강인 제어기 설계)

  • 본 논문에서는 이전에 개발된 만타형 무인 잠수정의 수학적 모델을 기초로 하여 모델 불확실성과 외란이 존재하는 경우에 강인한 제어 성능을 나타낼 수 있는 강인 제어기를 설계하였다. 제어기 설계는 수심 제어와 방향 제어로 분리하여 수행하였고, 이를 위하여 6자유도의 수학적 운동 방정식을 수심 및 방향 제어를 위한 운동 방정식으로 각각 표현하였다. 운동 방정식에 나타나는 유체력 계수에 불확실성이 존재하고 운항 중 발생하는 조류등을 외란이 존재하는 것으로 생각하고 강인 제어기를 설계하였다. 강인 제어기의 전체적인 구조는 백스테핑 방법을 사용하였고, 모델 불확실성과 조류를 외란으로 가정하여 외란의 영향을 효과적으로 감쇠시킬 수 있는 $L_2$-gain 분석 개념을 이용하였다. 시뮬레이션은 제어기 설계에 사용된 유체력 계수에 실제값과 차이를 주었고, 조류의 모델을 포함시켜 수행하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 모델 불확실성과 외란의 존재하는 경우에도 제어 성능에 큰 변화가 나타나지 않는 것을 보여 주었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 유니티 엔진을 활용하여 도로교통 시뮬레이터 에셋을 제안한다. 제안하는 에셋은 유니티 좌표계 내에서 오브젝트를 이용하여 가상의 도로를 설계함으로서 도로교통 시뮬레이터의 진입장벽과 단순 작업비용을 낮추고, 가상의 도로에서 다양한 속성을 가진 차량과 신호등을 생성하고 시뮬레이션 함으로서 차량과 교통신호, 도로설계 등이 교통에 미치는 영향을 시각화하여 관찰 할 수 있다. 제안한 에셋을 이용하여 도로를 보다 용이하게 설계하여 도로교통 시뮬레이션을 할 수 있으며, 간단한 시나리오를 제작하여, 도로정체의 원인을 설명 할 수 있다. 사용자가 도로설계 시의 작업량을 더 줄일 수 있도록 도로생성 부분에서 보다 다양한 기능 지원과 시뮬레이터의 타당성 검토를 위한 추가적인 시나리오 테스트 등이 향후 과제이다.
