Development of Numerical Model for Scour Analysis under Wave Loads in Front of an Impermeable Submerged Breakwater (불투과 잠제 전면에서 파랑 작용 하의 세굴 해석을 위한 수치모델의 개발)

  • In this study, the coupled-numerical model has been newly developed to investigate numerically scouring and deposition around a coastal structure like a submerged breakwater using a numerical wave model and a lagrangian particle model for sand transport. As a numerical wave model, LES-WASS-2D (Hur and Choi, 2008) is adopted. The model is able to consider the flow through a porous midium with inertial, laminar and turbulent resistance term and determine the eddy viscosity with LES turbulence model. Distinct element method (Cundall and Strack, 1979), which is able to apply to many dynamical analysis of particulate media, as a lagrangian particle model for sand transport is newly coupled to the numerical wave model. The numerical simulation has been carried out to examine the scour problem in front of an impermeable submerged breakwater using the newly coupled-numerical model. The numerical results has been compared qualitatively with an existing experimental data and then its applicability has been discussed.

  • A mobile surveillance robot is defined as a surveillance robot system that is mounted on a mobile platform and is used to protect public areas such as airports or harbors from invaders. The mobile surveillance robot that is mounted on a mobile platform consists of a gun module, a camera system module, an embedded control system, and AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System). It has two axis control systems for controlling its elevation and azimuth. In order to obtain stable images for targeting invaders, this system requires a stabilizer to compensate any disturbance due to vehicle motion. In this study, a virtual model of a mobile surveillance robot has been created and ADAMS/Matlab simulations have been performed to verify the suitability of the proposed stabilization algorithm. Further, the suitability of the stabilization algorithm has also been verified using a mock-up of the mobile surveillance robot and a 6-DOF (Degree Of Freedom) motion simulator.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the control function of discharged flow due to the shape and plane arrangement of permeable submerged breakwater. For the discussion on it in detail, 3-dimensional numerical model based on PBM (Porous Body Model), which is able to simulate directly interaction of Fluid Permeable structure Seabed has been used to simulate water discharge in a NWT (Numerical Water Tank). To verify the applicability, LES-WASS-3D is analyzed comparing to the experimental result about propagation characteristics of dam-break wave through a permeable structure. Using the results obtained from numerical simulation, the effects of the shape and plane arrangement of submerged breakwater on reducing velocity and flow induction have been discussed related to the mean flow distribution and vertical distributions of horizontal velocities around ones.

  • Information lead time is defined as the time spent by processing orders from some buyers, whereas order lead time is defined as producing and supplying the products. The information lead time significantly serve to magnify the increase in variability due to demand forecasting. This paper models a decentralized supply chain composed of cascade type which has four type phases (or divisions) such as retailer, wholesaler, distributor, and factory. Each phases is managed by different centers individually with their own local inventory information. We investigate whether each phase's Information lead time affects companies networked a value chain. In particular, on several experiments performed with a programmed simulation (like a MIT beer game), we study the following question ; Can information lead times do better than material lead times in cost-benefit perspective\ulcorner Can more much Information lead times in downstream reasonably do worser than in upstream when playing the simulation\ulcorner In the conclusion, we show the importance of information lead time on a SC and, besides, guarantee that improvement of information lead time in upstream do more effective than one in downstream in cost-benefit perspective.

An Analysis on the Optimal Level of Primary CER Price Regard as Economic Feasibility (경제성을 고려한 CER 적정 발행가격 분석)

  • The investment in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects is increasing rapidly as the first implementation period began in 2008. This paper examines on the optimal level of primary Certified Emission Reduction (CER) price, subsidiary original projects investment cost and expected issues CER per year, using UNFCCC CDM Project Design Document (PDD) data. Real option model is developed to incorporate a case where the investment is irreversible and underlying asset price is uncertainty. This study employs Real option approach which allow the optimal level regard as economic feasibility of CER price has analyzed with NPV (Net Present Value) and Black-Scholes call option(Real option) value. Finally, CER supply curve and price elasticity of supply are estimated.

A Study on Service Level Analysis According to Geometric Structure of Two-Lane Highway (양방향 2차로도로의 기하구조에 따른 서비스수준 분석에 관한 연구)

  • 양방향 2차로 도로에서는 보다 효율적으로 운영하고 도로의 안전성을 도모하기 위하여 오르막 차로 및 양보차로 추월차로 등의 부가차로를 설치하고 있다. 이러한 부가차로 효율성의 비교 분석을 통한 연구에 의하여 기존의 도로를 효율적으로 운영하는 방안이 제시되어야 된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 부가차로 중 추월차로 및 양보차로가 포함된 구간을 조사하여 기하구조에 따른 교통류 특성을 분석하고 각 구간별로 서비스 수준분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 각 기하구조별로 지점속도와 통행속도를 분석한 결과 지점속도는 통행속도보다 조사지점의 기하구조에 의한 영향을 많이 받아 변동이 심한 것을 알 수 있었으며, 통행속도는 그 기하구조에 따른 교통류의 특성을 잘 반영하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. (2) 차량별 지점속도의 비교 분석에서는 현재 차량성능의 진보로 인하여 조사구간의 설계속도에 반해 중차량 및 버스-트럭, 승용에 대한 차량별 속도차이가 거의 없는 것으로 분석되었다. 기존의 중차량에 대한 보정은 현장제한속도에 대하여 감안되어야 된다고 판단된다. (3) 모의실험모형과 현장조사에 의한 교통류특성을 비교해 보았을 때, 시뮬레이션은 도로의 전구간에 대한 결과는 잘 반영하고 있으나 짧은 구간에 대하여 교통류의 연속성을 파악하기에는 부족하다고 판단된다. (4) 추월가능 구간과 양보차로구간의 효율성을 비교해 보면, 추월율에서 양보차로구간이 추월가능구간보다 22.5%나 높게 나왔으며 총지체비교에서는 추월가능구간보다 5.56sec/h의 지체감소를 보이고 있다. 서비스 수준분석에서는 같은 C의 수준을 보이고 있으나 양보차로의 영향으로 양보차로 후구간의 서비스 수준이 A까지 상향되었다. 따라서 대향교통류의 영향을 받는 추월차로의 확보보다는 효율성이 좋은 양보차로구간의 보급이 많아야 되겠다.

Three Dimensional Shape Estimation by Shading Analysis of Endoscopic Image (음영분석에 의한 내시경 영상의 3차원 형체 추정에 관한 연구)

  • A new numerical method estimated three dimensional shape of the internal surface of the stomach by analyzing the shading data of endoscopic image. First analyzed was the inherent instrumentational characteristics of the endoscope system, followed by the analysis of the stomach surface properties, both of which affected the imaging properties. We employed these prior informations to implement the iterative algorithm of shading analysis based on Hom's variational approach. The present algorithm was validated by performing simulation on a $256{\times}320$ image data chosen from original $512{\times}512$ image of the stomach surface model. The best 3-dimensional estimation of the surface was achieved with the Lagrangian multiplier, of 0.3, when the algorithm best converged showing minimal estimation error.

  • We have investigated the output characteristics of a Nd:YAG oscillator with a Stimulated Brillouin Scattering phase conjugation mirror (SBS-PCM). FC-75 is used as an SBS gain medium and Cr:YAG (T=50%) as a Q-switcher. The SBS-PCM consists of an SBS-cell and a simple plano-convex focusing lens system. For the case of not using a Q-switcher, an SBS-cell doesn't work as a phase conjugation mirror. For the case of using a Q-switcher, the energy characteristics remains nearly the same whether using the SBS-cell or not using it. The pulse width is reduced from 50 ns to 40 ns by an SBS-PCM. When the SBS-cell is used with a Q- switcher, the SBS-cell works very well as a phase conjugation mirror and its beam-profile is improved dramatically. And in order to explain the progression of beam-profile, we propose a simple model based on the nonlinear reflectivity of the SBS-PCM, whose reflectivity is dependent on the pumping intensity at the focal plane.

A Study on the Resistance Reduction of G/T 190ton Class Main Vessel in Korean Large Purse Seiner Fishing System (G/T 190톤급 한국 대형선망 본선의 저항저감에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, hull form of main vessel of Korean large purse seiner fishing industry is developed for the improvement of resistance performance as well as for the satisfaction to the Standard of Fishing Convention, ILO. Through the modification of reference hull form parameters and local characteristics, the hull form development is carried out. The optimum hull form parameters are searched by Sequential Quadratic Programing(SQP) method with the power estimation method of Holtrop & Mannen. To minimize the wave resistance, bulbous bow parameters are determined by the bulbous bow design method of Alvarino. The plasmatic curve is redesigned from that of the reference hull by using Lackenby method. The resistance performances of the reference and designed hull forms are estimated by using numerical simulation method. Also, the judgment of seakeeping ability and the estimation of intact stability for the designed hull form is carried out. As a result, the optimum hull form is proposed. To verify the improvement of resistance performance, model tests are carried out in towing tank. The results show that the resistance of the designed hull form is about 14% smaller than that of the reference hull from at design speed. A new hull form proposed in this study can contribute to the development of the main vessel hull form of Korean large purse seiner fishing system.

A Study on the Hull Form Design of a G/T 199ton Class Fishing Boat for Both Fish-luring Lighting and Fish Carrying in Korean Large Purse Seiner Fishing System (G/T 199톤급 우리나라 대형선망 등선 겸용 운반어선의 선형설계에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a method of hull form design for the assistant vessel which is used both as a lighting boat and a fish carrying boat for the fleet of newly formated purse seiner vessels. The optimum hull form parameters are searched by the Sequential Quadratic Programing(SQP) method with the power estimation method of Van Oortmerssen. The prismatic curve is redesigned from that of the reference hull by the Lackenby method. Through the modification of the hull form by using a CAD system, the design procedure is completed. The resistance performances of the reference and the modified hull forms are estimated by using a numerical simulation method. Also, the estimation of seakeeping ability and stability for the modified hull forms are carried out. And then, an optimum hull form is proposed for the designed hull form. Ship model tests for the reference and the designed hull forms are carried out at ship model basin. The results of the experiments show that the effective horse power of the designed hull form is about 22% smaller than that of the reference hull form at design speed. The designed hull form proposed in this study will contribute to the development of the hull form for Korean large purse seiner vessels.
