  • A numerical model which can analyze the flow and bed topography characteristics of a single bend and continuous one was suggested using the equations of mass, momentum, the vertical distribution of secondary flow, and the transverse bed slope. The calculated flow and bed topography characteristic values were compared with the experimental data in a single bend, and the predicted path of maximum streamwise velocity in continuous bends also compared with the Vadnal and Chang's data. The comparisons gave good results. A curved channel with 180 degrees was used. Sand and anthracite were selected as bed materials in the movable bed experiments. The model application of this model to the sand bed and the anthracite one accorded well with the observed values in the experiments. This model was proved to be useful for predicting the flow and bed topography with the change of bed materials. The results of this research could be used to construct and control curved channels as a fundamental information.mation.

  • Field works are decreasing gradually since advancement of industrial robots. Tunnel cleaning is a dangerous field work which can be solved only by introducingadvanced tunnel cleaning automation equipment. Industrial robots work tirelessly night and day without a loss in performance. Consequently, greatly reduce the costs of manufactured goods. So far only 200 construction robots are invented. Robots used for tunnel cleaning are not of high standard they always need additional workers for job to be done. Robots offer specific benefits to workers, industries and countries. If introduced correctly for tunnel cleaning, industrial robots can improve the quality of life by freeing workers from dirty, boring, dangerous and heavy labor. Development of advanced tunnel cleaning automation equipment is a must to overcome above issues. The benefits of robots to industry include improved management control, productivity and consistently high quality products. This research is a study on tunnel cleaning automation equipment and introducing advanced tunnel cleaning automation equipment.

  • This research analyzed the structural efficiency and application by improving the 100 mm width vertical joint to 150 mm and developing three connection methods to reduce the difficulty in assembling and handling PC walls. Moreover, nonlinear finite analysis was used for analyzing. From the analysis results, when double width connection was applied, the PC wall showed larger load capacity and ductility due to the steel bar sharing loads efficiently. Moreover, as the dimension of loops and the number of bars increased, the maximum load capacity increased as well. Also, among the double width connections, the largest capacity showed in the order of welding, ring and C type loop. However, in case of welding type loop connection, the ring type loop is more stable due to changes in different site conditions. Therefore, thorough quality control of welding is necessary.

  • A measuring technique for tire-pavement interaction noise that uses a proposed noble close proximity(NCPX) method, which has been proofed in terms of the reliability and consistency of interaction noise measurement through several researches, equipped with surface microphones has been adopted in order to perform bridge deck pavement noise evaluations on four different pavement surfaces. Through field testing measurement of bridge deck pavement in Seoul inner ring road, the appropriate noise-measuring procedures have been used for evaluating the noise characteristics of four different surfaces. Measuring results show that tire-pavement noise levels vary depending on the surface types and vehicle speeds. Furthermore, the different characteristics of tire-pavement interaction noise can be found before and after the new surface construction of bridge deck pavements in terms of the 1/3 octave band analysis of vehicle speed.

  • The total length of paved roads in Korea is 67,265 Km, and among these roads, about 40% of the national highways and 98% of local roads are paved with asphalt concrete. The major distress to asphalt pavement is rutting and fatigue crack. The permanent deformation including rutting accounts for about 75% of this distress. UTW(Ultra-Thin Whitetopping), which is known for its high-quality performance in asphalt pavement with rutting and cracking, seems to reduce maintenance costs significantly if it is used as the maintenance/repair method for domestic asphalt pavement. In the research, static load test was conducted to establish a behavior of Whitetopping under traffic and environmental condition. It showed that the effect of the thickness of the concrete layer and the temperature change was significant. In addition, the tensile strain as the wheel load position was close to interior and edge of concrete slab were increased up to 75% of maximum tensile strain. It showed that joint spacing must be considered in UTW design procedure.

  • The US Pavement Design method (AASHTO) and HDM-4, a road pavement maintenance decision system, are not suitable for domestic pavement design, construction and maintenance. KPRP(Korea Pavement Research Program) has been developed to reflect Korea's environmental conditions and vehicle characteristics, thereby, extending pavement life. The main objective of this study is to select the best alternative through Life Cycle Cost $CO_2$ (LCCC) calculations among three representative maintenance strategies using KPRP design software since the environment cost resulting from the extended pavement life will also differ. The analysis of this study illustrates that cumulative carbon emissions for 40 years in alternative 2 (Cutting and Overlaying at Year 30) is the lowest option among them, and the basic cost of $CO_2$ emission by various road maintenance and repair work can be used for suggesting an optimal maintenance strategy for highway agency.

  • Accordingly architectural structure is getting high-rise and bigger, a use of high strength and high performance concrete has been increased. High performance concrete has cons of explosion in a fire. This explosion in the fire can cause the loss of the sheath on a concrete surface, therefore it effects that increasing a rate of heat transmission between the steel bar and inner concrete. Preventing this explosion of high performance concrete in the fire, many kinds of researches are now in progressing. Typically, researches with using polypropylene-fiber and steel-fiber can prove controling the explosion, but the reduction of mobility was posed as a problem of workability. Consequently, to solve the problem as mentioned above, concrete cans secure fire resisting capacity through the using of coating liquid, including Ester-lubricant and non-ionic characteristic surfactant. This research has been drawn a ideal condition in compressive strength areas of concrete by an experiment. When applying 13mm of polyamide fiber, proper fiber mixing volume by compressive strength areas of concrete more than 2.5kg in 160MPa. These amount of a compound can control the explosion.

  • Polyethylene(PE) pipes have been widely used as they are easy to construct and suitable for economical efficient when they are compared with metal pipelines. This paper studied the effect of various external loadings on stress and deflection of the buried PE pipes using Finite Element Method(FEM). For this purpose, stresses of buried PE pipes were calculated according to the loading condition such as pipe types(pipe diameter $50{\sim}400mm$), burial depths($0.6{\sim}1.2m$) and internal pressures($0.4{\sim}4bar$). As a result, it was founded the effect and relation with each of loading conditions under the buried condition.

  • In Korea, the quantitative growth rate of artificial reef construction is supposed to reach the peak point. Therefore, new approach is needed to the point of artificial reefs business. Functional reefs, such as shellfish reefs, recreational reefs, seaweed reefs, and fish reefs, are beneficial alternatives. This study conducted hydraulic testing to assess the stability of corrugated artificial reefs (ARs) that were constructed to promote the growth of shellfish and seaweed. The results of this study showed that some dimensionless design parameters affected the stability of corrugated artificial reefs under a range of wave and water depth conditions in a fixed bed condition. The findings also highlight the importance of hydraulic experiments in solving the problems that have emerged in the design and construction of artificial reefs.
