Reactivity Considerations with Miscibility of Process Gases in Semiconductor industry (반도체 산업 공정가스의 혼화성에 따른 반응성 고찰)

  • In the semiconductor industry, the risk of chemical accidents due to miscibility between the many types of chemicals and leakage of toxic chemicals has increased. In order to evaluate the reactivity with miscibility of chemicals, experimental method is the most reliable, but there is a time and cost limitations to be evaluated through experiment all the chemicals. In the study, the reactivity of process gases in the semiconductor industry was considered by the CRW (Chemical Reactivity Worksheets) 3.0 program developed by US NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and EPA. The reactivity informations with the miscibility of process gases for semiconductor industry provided, and also a KOSHA guide for the storage/separation of gas cylinders in dispensing cabinets in the semiconductor industry was proposed.

A study on the antioxidant activity of products of caramel-type-browning reaction (Caramel 갈색화 반응 생성물의 항산화성에 관한 연구)

  • The study was carried out to compare the antioxidant activities of products from caramel-type-browning reaction of xylose(XY), glucose(GL), sucrose(SU), glucose + citric acid (GLCA), glucose + sodium citrate(GLSC), glucose + glycine(GLGC) heated at 80, 120 or 140$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr. 1. The hydrogen donating ability (HDA) of browning reaction products was generally enhanced as the browning temperature and time increased. The HDAs of the browning reaction products heated at 80$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr were in the order of GLSC (0.387) > GLSC (0.362) > GLCA (0.301) > GL (0.299) > XY (0.290) > SU (0.281). But they were in the order of GLSC (0.543) > SU (0.328) > GL (0.309) > GLGC (0.325) > XY (0.298) > GLCA (0.275) under the condition of heating at 140$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr. 2. The antioxidant activities of the anhydrous ethanol extracts of the browning mixtures were inferior to that of TBHQ as measured in com oil, but SU was superior to tocopherol in its antioxidant activity. All the browning mixtures showed antioxidant activities when heated at 80$^{\circ}C$; however, only SU and GLCA showed the activites at 120 or 140$^{\circ}C$. And the antioxidant activity of the SU extract was higher than that of TOCO. The antioxidant activities of the ethanol extracts were in the order of TBHQ > GLCA > GLGC > TOCO > SU > XY > GL > GLSC > control at 80$^{\circ}C$, TBHQ > SU > TOCO > GLCA > control > GLSC> XY > GL > GLGC at 120$^{\circ}C$, and TBHQ > SU > TOCO > GLCA > control > GLSC > GLGC > XY > GL at 140$^{\circ}C$.

A Study on the Lime Reactivity of Concrete Admixtures (콘크리트 혼합재의 석회반응성에 관하여)

  • This paper addresses the hydrothermal reactivity of blast furnace slag and fly ash with lime, respectively. The test conditions were CaO-to-$SiO_2$ ratio (C/S), autoclaving temperature ($140{\circ}C$ and $180{\circ}C$) and time (20 to 60h). The study was carried out in terms of the hydrothermal reactivity between $SiO_2$ contained in each hydraulic material and (pure) lime and the compressive strength of autoclaved specimens. Porosity measurement and the XRD analysis were also made in order to ascertain the hydraulicity of the siliceous materials. Compressive strength of the specimens was interpreted in terms of porosity and the reactivity of CaO and $SiO_2$. And the XRD analysis showed the C/S change of the hydrates in the course of autoclaving process. $SiO_2$ in the blast furnace slag was more reactive with CaO than that in the fly ash and consequently the blast furnace slag specimens resulted in much higher compressive strength. A maximum compressive strength of $807kg/cm^2$ was obtained for the blast furnace slag at the autoclaving condition of $180{\circ}C$ and 40 h, while only $397kg/cm^2$ was maximally to achieve with fly ash.

Acidogenesis of Lipids-Containing Wastewater in Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor (혐기성 연속 회분식 반응조를 이용한 지질 함유 폐수의 산발효 특성)

  • The partial lipid degradation with the saturation of double-bond at the acidogenesis stage is known to help subsequent methanogenesis during anaerobic digestion. Acidogenic reactions in an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR) and a continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) were carried out to compare their performances. A mixture of two unsaturated (oleate and linoleate) and two saturated (palmitate and stearate) long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs) was used as a model substrate. Biomass retention in the ASBR contributed to the enhanced performance at hydraulic retention time (HRT) below 15 hr. Biomass retention in the ASBR contributed to the enhanced performance compared to CSTR even at shorter HRT. ASBR would be a proper reactor configuration for the acidogenesis of lipid-containing wastewater.

The Direct Dissolution of Ion-Exchange Resin by Fenton's Reagent (펜톤시약을 이용한 이온교환수지의 직접분해)

  • Fenton's Reagent is applied to directly dissolve the cation-exchange resin, IRN-77. The characteristics of the experimental procedure is to dry the resin first and $FeSO_4$ solution is completely absorbed into the resin, and then $H_2O_2$ is introduced later for an effective reaction between the reagents within the resin. An a characteristic of the dissolution, the lag time is needed for about 1 hour until the main reaction is occurred, which was more affected with the less concentration of $FeSO_4$ and the less initial dose of $H_2O_2$. The dose of $H_2O_2$ was equally divided into the early stage and the later stage after the initial reaction to provide an effective and safe reaction condition. The optimum conditions is appeared that the concentration of $FeSO_4$ is 0.9M and the dose of 15% $H_2O_2$ solution is 6-7 volume for the dissolution of unit weight of IRN-77. The effect of the heating on the lag time was checked and the time could be reduced within 5 minutes at $50^{\circ}C$, which is a relatively low temperature. The large amount of the resin, 5g and 10g, was also completely decomposed by increasing the dose of $H_2O_2$ to 9-10 volume ratio.

Reduction of Nitrate-Nitrogen by Zero-valent Iron Nanoparticles Deposited on Aluminum yin Electrophoretic Method (전기영동법으로 알루미늄에 침적된 영가 철 나노입자에 의한 질산성 질소의 환원)

  • Reductive reactivity of zero-valent iron nanoparticles was investigated for removal of nitrate-nitrogen which is considered one of the major water pollutants. To elucidate the difference in reactivity between preparation methods, iron nanoparticles were synthesized respectively from microemulsion and aqueous solution of ferric ions. Iron nanoparticles prepared from microemulsion were deposited on aluminum by electrophoretic method, and their reaction kinetics was compared to that of the same nanoparticles suspended in aqueous batch reaction. With an approximation of pseudo-first-order reaction, rate constants for suspended nanoparticles prepared from microemulsion and dilute aqueous solution were $3.49{\times}10^{-2}min^{-1}$ and $1.40{\times}10^{-2}min^{-1}$, respectively. Iron nanoparticles supported on aluminum showed ca. 30% less reaction rate in comparison with the identical nanoparticles in suspended state. However, supported nanoparticles showed the superior effectiveness in terms of nitrate-nitrogen removal per zero-valent iron input especially when excess amounts of nitrates were present. Iron nanoparticles deposited on aluminum maintained reductive reactivity for more than 3 hours, and produced nitrogen gas as a final reduction product of nitrate-nitrogen.

제초제저항성 GM 들잔디(JG21)의 포장시험을 통한 생물학적 안전성평가

  • GM 들잔디의 환경위해성평가는 유전자변형생물체의 국가간이동등에 관한 법률 (2008년)에 안전관리 및 시험평가가 수행되었다. 일반적으로 GM 작물의 환경위해성평가는 도입 유전자의 안정적 발현여부, 일반적으로 사용되어온 식물과의 실질적 동등성, 화분비산에 의한 유전자이동성 검정, GM재배작물 주변 환경에 미치는 영향, GM작물 및 유전자의 인체 및 동물에 대한 안전성 평가, 위해성 관리 등이 있다. 본 발표에서는 제초제저항성 GM 들잔디를 실용화 하기위한 환경위해성평가의 내용을 소개하기 위하여 GM 들잔디의 안전성평가를 수행한 포장시험에 대해서 간략히 발표하고자 한다. GM 들잔디는 제초제저항성 유전자가 식물체내에 1개의 복제수를 갖으며, 후세대에서도 안정적으로 발현되었다. 또한 TAIL PCR을 통한 도입 유전자의 삽입 부위를 확인하였고, 주변염기서열을 이용한 JG21 들잔디 만의 특이적 염기서열을 얻었다. GM 들잔디의 실질적 동등성검정은 격리온실 수준과 격리포장 수준에 생물학적, 화학적 특성을 조사하였고, 일반 들잔디와 큰 차이가 없음을 확인하였다. GM 들잔디의 화분은 일광조건하에서 약 1시간 이내에 불활성 되었고, 실내의 실온조건에서는 3시간까지 활성이 유지되었다. GM 들잔디 재배포장 ($12m{\times}6m$ 크기)으로부터 화분비산 밀도는 3 m 이내에서 높게 나타났고, 9 m 이상의 거리에서는 낮은 빈도로 일정하게 나타났다. 화분비산에 의한 GM 들잔디 유전자이동성은 근접거리에서 약 15%가 관찰되었고, 반경 3 m 이내에서 거리에 따라서 2 ~ 0.12%의 유전자이동성이 관찰되었다. 각각의 시험모형에 따른 GM 들잔디와 일반들잔디 간의 교잡율을 조사한 결과 들잔디 교잡율은 GM 잔디의 면적과 거리에 의존적이었고, GM 들잔디 면적에 따라서 6-21%의 교잡율이 나타났다. GM들잔디의 인체위해성평가는 독성 및 알레르기 반응성을 검정하였고, 도입유전자 산물인 PAT 단백질은 독성 및 알레르기 반응성이 없음이 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 GM들잔디의 독성 및 알레르기 반응성을 검토한 결과 아플라톡신 등의 독성은 검출되지 않았으나, GM과 일반 들잔디 모두에서 화분 알레르기 반응성이 양성으로 나왔다. 그러나 GM들잔디에 도입된 유전자에 의한 알레르기 반응이 아닌 일반들잔디 화분에 가진 알레르겐에 의한 반응성이라 할 수 있다. GM들잔디의 비의도적 방출가능성을 조사하기위하여 시험포장외부의 자연환경에 대해서 환경모니터링을 수행한 결과 GM 들잔디의 유출 및 유전자이동 의한 제초제저항성 들잔디는 나타나지 않았다.

Production of Reactive Diluent for Epoxy Resin with High Chemical Resistance from Natural Oil : Optimization Using CCD-RSM (천연오일로부터 내화학성이 향상된 에폭시계 수지용 반응성 희석제의 제조 : CCD-RSM을 이용한 최적화)

  • In this study, we dedicated to optimize the process for a reactive diluent for epoxy resin of improved chemical resistance by using cardanol, a component of natural oil of cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL). The central composite design (CCD) model of response surface methodology (RSM) was used for the optimization. The quantitative factors for CCD-RSM were the cardanol/ECH mole ratio, reaction time, and reaction temperature. The yield, epoxy equivalent, and viscosity were selected as response values. Basic experiments were performed to design the reaction surface analysis. The ranges of quantitative factors were determined as 2~4, 4~8 h, and 100~140 ℃ for the cardanol/ECH reaction mole ratio, reaction time, and reaction temperature, respectively. From the result of CCD-RSM, the optimum conditions were determined as 3.33, 6.18 h, and 120 ℃ for the cardanol/ECH reaction mole ratio, reaction time, and reaction temperature, respectively. At these conditions, the yield, epoxy equivalence, and viscosity were estimated as 100%, 429.89 g/eq., and 41.65 cP, respectively. In addition, the experimental results show that the error rate was less than 0.3%, demonstrating the validity of optimization.

Effects of the Field Complexity and Type of Target Object on the Performance of the Baggage Screening Task for Improving Aviation Safety (항공 안전 증진을 위한 장 복잡성과 위험물품의 종류가 수화물 검사 수행에 미치는 효과)

  • This study examined the effects of field complexity and type of target objects on the performance in baggage screening task. A total of 62 participants(male: 45.2%, female: 54.8%) participated and their mean age was 22.88. The simulated baggage screening task was developed for this study and after the orientation and task exercises, main experiment session was conducted. Participants performed a total of 200 tasks and 40(20%) contained target object. The complexity was set at three levels: high, middle, and low levels and the number of background items contained 20, 14. and 8 respectively. The type of target was set as gun, knife, liquid, and righter. The dependent variables were hit ratio and reaction time. The results showed that the hit ratio decreased and reaction time increased significantly as field complexity increased, and they varied depending on the type of target. The hit ratio of the knife was the highest and liquid lowest and reaction time of the knife was the fastest and liquid slowest. In addition, the interaction effect was also significant. Knife was not affected by complexity, however, small item such as lighter was most affected by complexity.

Preparation of Monodispersed Crosslinked Polymer Beads (단분산상으로 가교된 고분자 비드의 합성)

  • In preparing micron-sized monodisperse polystyrene beads by dispersion polymerization, the conversion, and the particle size and its distribution were affected by the reaction temperature, concentration of the monomer, solvent and initiator, molecular weight and concentration of the steric stabilizer, amount of oxygen existing in the reactor, and an appropriate combination of these starting materials. Ethanol as a dispersing agent, styrene as a monomer, PVP as a steric stabilizer, AIBN as an initiator, DVB as a cross-linking agent and toluene as a co-solvent were the basic materials for the synthesis. The reaction rate and the conversion were increased with the reaction temperature and the amount of DVB from 1 to 4%, and the conversion was saturated after 10 hours of the reaction time. The optimum reaction recipe for the preparation of the monodisperse PS beads was 25% styrene monomer, 0.5% DVB, 25% toluene, 10-15% PVP, and 2 and 4% AIBN, thereby, 3.9~4 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 3.4~9.3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of polystyrene beads, respectively, were successfully synthesized.
