Suggestion and Evaluation on Information Services in Viewpoint of Visualization Attributes (시각화 속성을 고려한 정보 서비스 평가 및 제안)

  • While lots of information service providers utilize the information visualization to deliver information clearly and efficiently, the misuse of information visualization can occur many problems. We evaluated and analyzed visualization elements mainly applied to the representative information services. To find out the relation between attributes of visualization elements and efficiency of information service, we had analyzed attributes of target elements before we have evaluated. Through this study we revealed that Information visualization on information service has to be applied with considering the characteristics of information and each visualization element, and its elements can be optimized and support users to obtain intuitive insight when they are complementally combined and offer sufficient attributes additionally. We expect that the result of this study will be a guide for utilizing information visualization and developing visualization elements.

  • This study aims to consider the display method of the STA information that holds aesthetic cultural distinctiveness with the capability of immediate recognition of information in the relationship between the exposed time and the degree of cognition. As an consideration on the display method of information in an efficient way according as 'information attributes', the purpose of this study is to identify the visualization attributes of the STA information and to seek out display methods accordingly. Based on the information design and cognitive psychology, the cognitive features of the STA information have been identified and four visualization attributes of the STA information have been found based on the preceding studies on the information attributes in line with the relationship between exposure frequency and the level of awareness. In terms of information recognition, a metaphor, metonymy, use of indexical image and context, rhetoric, and Mnemonic have been proposed as major display methods for 'Understandable' and 'Conciseness', which are the major visualization attributes of the STA information while humor, parody, distinctiveness, friendliness, kitsch, formative beauty and newness have been suggested as the major display methods of 'Relevance' and 'Valuable', which are the major visualization attributes from the perspective of sensitive perception of information. Based on the results of this study, I'm planning to come up with display methods and to proceed with analyzing the relationship of the degree of cognition in association with context.

Sound Visualization based on Emotional Analysis of Musical Parameters (음악 구성요소의 감정 구조 분석에 기반 한 시각화 연구)

  • In this study, emotional analysis was conducted based on the basic attribute data of music and the emotional model in psychology, and the result was applied to the visualization rules in the formative arts. In the existing studies using musical parameter, there were many cases with more practical purposes to classify, search, and recommend music for people. In this study, the focus was on enabling sound data to be used as a material for creating artworks and used for aesthetic expression. In order to study the music visualization as an art form, a method that can include human emotions should be designed, which is the characteristics of the arts itself. Therefore, a well-structured basic classification of musical attributes and a classification system on emotions were provided. Also, through the shape, color, and animation of the visual elements, the visualization of the musical elements was performed by reflecting the subdivided input parameters based on emotions. This study can be used as basic data for artists who explore a field of music visualization, and the analysis method and work results for matching emotion-based music components and visualizations will be the basis for automated visualization by artificial intelligence in the future.

Information Types and Display Methods according to the Relation between Frequency of Exposure and Degree of Cognition (노출빈도와 인지도 관계에 따른 정보의 유형과 표현기법)

  • Information types and display methods according to the relation between frequency of exposure and degree of cognition was suggested by this study as a way to enhance effective communication by information in aspect of user cognition. First of all, we ascertained the relation between frequency of exposure and degree of cognition by literature research for cognitive psychology and cognitive engineering psychology, results are as follows based in it. First, we suggested information types and attributes for visualization as 'Framework' which helps designers understand cognitive demands of users. Specifically, there are 4 types(STM, STA, LTM, LTA) of information according to the relation between frequency of exposure and degree of cognition, cognitive characteristics for each types and 'attributes matrix for visualization' which is consisted of 14 attributes of high -quality information and resorted by the types. Second, we suggested a guideline for display methods according to depth of information in the design process of information contents. For display methods of STM, STA information as primary information, we suggested "Attribution theory of Distinctiveness", "Advance Organizer", "Progress Closure", "Affordance", for display methods of LTM information as multidimensional information, we suggested "Modularity", "Consistency", "Mimicry", "Mnemonic Device". We had found from this study that there are distinction of status for attributes of information visualization according to information types or depth, and various display methods by them.

Correlation-based Automatic Image Captioning (상호 관계 기반 자동 이미지 주석 생성)

  • This paper presents correlation-based automatic image captioning. Given a training set of annotated images, we want to discover correlations between visual features and textual features, so that we can automatically generate descriptive textual features for a new unseen image. We develop models with multiple design alternatives such as 1) adaptively clustering visual features, 2) weighting visual features and textual features, and 3) reducing dimensionality for noise sup-Pression. We experiment thoroughly on 10 data sets of various content styles from the Corel image database, about 680MB. The major contributions of this work are: (a) we show that careful weighting visual and textual features, as well as clustering visual features adaptively leads to consistent performance improvements, and (b) our proposed methods achieve a relative improvement of up to 45% on annotation accuracy over the state-of-the-art, EM approach.

  • 본 논문에서는 시간의 축에 따라 점진적으로 확산되는 정보 네트워크를 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 시각화 도구를 소개하고자 한다. 이것은 기존의 정적인 데이터에 대한 정적인 시각화 결과물을 제시하는 시각화 도구들과는 달리, 시간의 축에 따라 동적으로 성장하는 데이터를 효과적으로 표현할 수 있다는데 그 차이가 있다. 이를 위해 그래프 기반의 정보 확산 네트워크 모델을 정의 하고, 이 그래프에 시간의 축에 따른 데이터의 성장을 반영하여, 정보 확산 과정을 시각화 할 수 있는 도구를 제작하였다. 결론적으로, 본 논문에서 제시하는 도구는 시간의 축에 따라 점진적으로 성장하는 정보 네트워크의 성장 과정을 시각화함으로 해서, 복잡하게 엉켜 있는 정보들이 어떻게 확산되며, 어떤 모양으로 생겼는지, 또 어떻게 진화하는가에 대한 시각적 재현을 통해 정보 확산 네트워크의 속성을 이해하는데 도움을 줄 수 있는 새로운 시각화 도구를 제시했다는데 그 의미가 있다.

Development of a Method for Analyzing and Visualizing Concept Hierarchies based on Relational Attributes and its Application on Public Open Datasets

  • In the age of digital innovation based on the Internet, Information and Communication and Artificial Intelligence technologies, huge amounts of datasets are being generated, collected, accumulated, and opened on the web by various public institutions providing useful and public information. In order to analyse, gain useful insights and information from data, Formal Concept Analysis(FCA) has been successfully used for analyzing, classifying, clustering and visualizing data based on the binary relation between objects and attributes in the dataset. In this paper, we present an approach for enhancing the analysis of relational attributes of data within the extended framework of FCA, which is designed to classify, conceptualize and visualize sets of objects described not only by attributes but also by relations between these objects. By using the proposed tool, RCA wizard, several experiments carried out on some public open datasets demonstrate the validity and usability of our approach on generating and visualizing conceptual hierarchies for extracting more useful knowledge from datasets. The proposed approach can be used as an useful tool for effective data analysis, classifying, clustering, visualization and exploration.

  • Information visualization plays an important role to provide a conceptual comprehension of the information and should be adjusted and featured to reflect the characteristics of the domain to which it is applied. Product searching in e-Commerce is not an exception. In this paper, we present visualization techniques that are specified for effectively browsing the results of product searching. We considered visualization techniques including MapNet and Cluster Map and modified them to reflect the characteristics of the product domain. We consider two types of search queries: category searching and product property searching, and make it possible to include more detailed product semantics in their search criteria. We also provide a query refinement mechanism so that even users with rack of understanding the products may rewrite their queries for better results.

A study on high dimensional large-scale data visualization (고차원 대용량 자료의 시각화에 대한 고찰)

  • In this paper, we discuss various methods to visualize high dimensional large-scale data and review some issues associated with visualizing this type of data. High-dimensional data can be presented in a 2-dimensional space with a few selected important variables. We can visualize more variables with various aesthetic attributes in graphics or use the projection pursuit method to find an interesting low-dimensional view. For large-scale data, we discuss jittering and alpha blending methods that solve any problem with overlapping points. We also review the R package tabplot, scagnostics, and other R packages for interactive web application with visualization.

  • 본 연구에서는 대용량의 야구 데이터를 R 패키지인 googleVis를 이용하여 시각화하는 웹페이지를 구축하고, 버블 차트로 시각화하여 표현하였다. 웹페이지에서는 시각화하는 객체를 버블로 나타내며, 객체는 타자, 투수, 팀 3가지이다. 각 객체의 속성들을 버블 색상, 버블 사이즈, X-Y좌표, 연도에 설정함으로써 5차원으로 시각화하여 표현할 수 있게 한다. 웹페이지 기능 중 타임슬립 애니메이션을 사용하여 시간의 흐름에 따른 기록 변화를 한 눈에 관찰할 수 있으며, 선수 검색 기능을 통해 특정 선수들을 선택하여 비교 및 분석하는 것이 가능하다.
