  • 한글의 신속하고 정확한 정보전달 기능을 유지 발전시킴과 동시에, 정보 전달의 목적 및 효율성을 높이기 위하여, 인간심리에 직접 영향 미치는 시각적 이미지를 지니는 조형적 문자의 서체 및 기능 개발에 필요한 현행 한글서체들의 시각적 이미지에 대한 분석적 연구를 시도하였다. 대표적인 24개의 현행 한글서체에 대한 이미지를 표본조사 및 수치분류적 기법에 의한 이미지 특성을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 현행 한글서체는 크게 5개의 그룹으로 구분되며, 예서체는 현행 한글서체 중에서 가장 독특하고 집중된 이미지를 지닌 서체로 나타났다. 한글서체 개발은 수치적 분석에 의하여 방향정립 및 높은 예측성을 지닐 수 있으며. 목적지향적인 폰트개발 및 균형있는 서체운용 체계의 운용에 의하여 극대화될 수 있다.

A Characteristics of Visual Narrative Expression in Garden Design - Focused on the Taehwagang Garden Show 2018 - (정원디자인에 나타난 시각적 서술의 표현특성 - 2018 태화강 정원박람회 작품을 대상으로 -)

  • Appreciating gardens in garden show has its meaning in appreciating concepts and ideas of artists, hidden inside of garden, as formative arts, as well as the beauty of the nature. This study is aimed to understand the intension of artists in visual expression through formative media in the gardens by assessing structure of visual narrative in the space with 20 artworks among the ones presented in 2018 Taehwagang Garden Show. The formative structure is delivered as contents and forms through formative media and formative language. Thus, for analysis on the artworks, the researcher assessed expressive characteristics of the media, through visual and space language, that forms the formative structure in the contest of narrative structure expressed in the gardens and findings of the analysis are as follows. First, for intertextuality obtained through media image, most of the artworks delivered message through 'figure image.' This means, the concept is delivered as 'affinity of actual objects' through the media and associated 'meaning and meaning action' are expected. Second, the characteristics of signs to show symbolism in the gardens were categorized into 'icon'. 'index' and 'symbol'. The results showed that most of the artworks expressed common characteristics between image and meaning, using 'icon' and 'symbol'. Third, as space formation components, based on formative principles, the components of 'dominant' and 'subordinate' roles were defined as the key components for meaning delivery. Also, it was understood that 'space configuration with overlapped image' and 'space configuration with transparency' were adopted to strengthen conceptional layers. Forth, for space occupation types, there were mostly central hall type, corridor type and passage space type and for open space type, the entire space area was conceptualized, instead of certain object. The circulation line was defined in the frequency order of circular type, pass type and return type. The study on the expressive characteristics of visual narrative in garden design is meaningful as it could build base data for the method of spatial design for visual development of concepts in the future.

  • 한글의 신속하고 정확한 정보전달 기능을 유지 발전 시킴과 동시에, 정보 전달의 목적 및 효율성을 높이기 위하여, 인간심리에 직접 영향 미치는 시각적 이미지를 지니는 조형적 문자의 서체 및 기능 개발에 필요한 현행 한글서체들의 시각적 이미지에 대한 분석적 연구를 시도하였다. "한글의 시각적 이미지 다양화에 관한 연구" 에서의 네모틀 고수형의 한글 이미지 연구에 이어 금번에는 컴퓨터에서 지원 사용되는 탈네모꼴의 한글 12종을 제목용과 본문용으로 나누고 각각 그 굵기에 따른 이미지를 표본조사 및 수치분류적 기법에 의한 이미지 특성을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 한글 탈내모꼴 서체는 크게 3개의 그룹으로 구분되며, 전반적으로 그 이미지의 강도에 있어 약한것으로 나타났으며, 각 서체의 제목용및 본문용의 각각의 굵기에 해당하는 이미지가 동일한 것으로 나타나 안정된 이미지를 보유하는 서체로는 스케치체와로 나타났다. 이 같은 한글서체의 이미지 분류 연구는, 한글서체 개발이 수치적 분석에 의하여 방향정립 및 높은 예측성을 지닐 수 있으며, 목적지향적인 폰트개발 및 균형있는 서체운용 체계의 운용에 의하여 극대화될 수 있다.

  • This thesis is research about the development and application of the panorama image in contemporary artwork, focusing on sculpture and installation. The samples of artworks are a selection of representatives from numerous examples of works that cannot be introduced without exceeding a reasonable scope of the thesis. A brief outline of the historical concepts of the perspective will describe the development of the panorama in itself. Some technical explanations and the practical use of the panorama with its link to 3-dimensional applications should bridge the explanation gap between the 2nd and 3rd dimensional usage of the panorama in contemporary artwork. Furthermore, some philosophical statements are proposed in the discussion. One of the main interests and initial motivation of this study was my personal believe that there is always a relationship between social philosophical values and the way a society sees or encounters visual structures. In other words the contemporary understanding of space and perspective is mirroring the actual zeitgeist and creates an exemplary visual aesthetics.

A Study on the Development of Visual Arts Convergence Education Model with the Formless Concept (비정형 개념에 따른 시각예술 융합교육 모형 개발)

  • This study was initiated with the attention of demanding new and diverse approaches, we're talking familiar with imitations in the design process like a way to draw a image. So I studied a convergence of humanities and visual arts with the understanding and conceptual approach of the formless. The purpose of this study is to develop formless languages and to organize practical courses which are to enable deeper research and design expression on theoretical approaches and explanations of outcomes required before and after the process when we practice in connection with the formless. The method of this study is to draw detailed items from selected words through advanced researches, work and author researches and practice teaching. The results of the study I proposed the formless language that is related to the horizontality in spatial positioning system, and pulse in the separation of space and time, and entropy in structural orders of the system, and base materialism in the limitation of matter as the operating mechanism and parent item of formless. And those elements are related with shape, size, shading, color, texture, space, structure as visual elements of formative elements and those have various adjectival meanings as the subordinate concept. So I presented an education materials of basic design which is to enable understanding and expressing the formless language in the overall process of formless visual art(theoretical approach, practice course, presentation, etc.). Based on these study results, I hope that this educational materials will be used as educational contents that makes them express and understand different new beauties, and a role that reveals social identity, and a reference for research on a formless visual arts.

  • 본 논문은 한 중 일 3개국에 널리 알려져 있는 고전문학<삼국지> 소재로 제작된 만화에 나타나는 캐릭터비교 연구이다. 캐릭터는 언어적 의미를 시각화해서 전달하는 감성적이고 효과적인 표현 전달 방법이다. 또한 만화 캐릭터는 시각적인 조형으로 만화속의 스토리를 이어나가는 핵심적인 요소이며, 고전 문학을 원형으로 하는 캐릭터는 문화원형의 속성을 지니며 그 원형이 지니고 있는 문화적 특징도 시각화하여 커뮤니케이션 대상에게 재미와 정보를 제공해준다. 고전문학<삼국지>를 원형으로 제작된 만화에 등장하는 캐릭터디자인에 대한 비교를 통해 알 수 있는바 3개국 캐릭터디자인특징은 3개국 문화 속에서 원인을 찾아 볼 수 있고, 자국 문화콘텐츠에서부터 출발해, 주변 국가 문화콘텐츠의 영향과 더불어, 시대적 트렌드에 알맞은 디자인접근 방식을 보여주고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Analysis of the relationship between e-brand personalities and visual attributes (웹페이지 디자인의 이브랜드 개성 구축을 위한 시각조형특성 분석)

  • The brand personality of online products and services is know as its e-brand personality. Although, in the competitive conditions of online markets, e-brand personality is agreed to be an important factor, few studies have suggested how to establish e-brand personality through the visual design of web sites. This study identifies and verifies causal relationships between the visual attributes of web pages and e-brand personalities. The first identifies four major dimensions of e-brand personality on diverse web sites. The second uses 52 experimental home pages to identify key visual attributes associated with those four personality dimensions. The third is a confirmatory study with 16 experimental web sites that verifies causal relationships between visual attributes and e-brand personalities. The results show that two visual attributes, 'simplicity' and 'cohesion,' help to establish a 'bold' personality. Three attributes, 'contrast,' 'density,' and 'regularity,' affect whether a site has an 'analytical' personality. 'Contrast,' 'cohesion,' 'density,' and 'regularity' all influence whether a web site is perceived to have a 'friendly' personality. 'Regularity' and 'balance' were expected to affect the 'sophisticated' personality dimension, but no such impact was observed. The paper concludes with a discussion of implications, limitations, and future research directions.

  • Typography is the combination of language of formative art. It is indeed the core means of human communication through understanding of language and formative values. Studies began on introduction of various techniques to overcome the phenomenon of the 'reaction of language', which appears as an impediment in delivery and sharing of information as the most fundamental roles. Successively, mobile printing types more readable and effective in delivering of meanings have been developed, thus widely distributed for general use. However, although such printing types might be easily used in image and digital media, such as in computer monitors, screens and mobile phone LCDs, etc., it is in fact difficult to use these printing types in printed surfaces, the traditional medium of information delivery, or in sign systems frequently encountered in our surrounding environment. As a solution for this, it is intended to create an effect of communication closer to dynamic typography expression by approaching visual message delivery system from the essence and substance of the color application, which corresponds to the visual spatial expression effect, the core element of expression in dynamic typography to possess significantly more powerful effect in terms of both message delivery capacity and readability than the conventional means of static typography.

  • In line with the development of Media, the use of character has been developed in various ways. Specially, it has been emerged the functions of written language of visualization and delivery of emotion in the digitalized environment due to speedy growth of internet and Mobile. The emoticons emerged as a tool for the convenience of communication proved to have taken effective role in the part of communication culture. Particularly, Hangul emoticons which contains the meaning of communication and sharing in tandem with the principle of Hangul invention, provides convenience in combination & use due to its structural and design characteristic for which it plays a significant role of visual element. Hangul emoticon is definitely a part of Hangul culture and in view of globalization of visual language in connection with media development, there is a huge potential being to be used as a international communication tool. In this study, it will be reviewed on the increased utilization of Hangul emoticons and related public issues as being a part of typography media, in view of the generalization of private media as well as change of subjective user.
