An Energy Efficient Time Synchronization Technique Based on WUSB over WBAN Protocol for Wearable Computer Systems (웨어러블 컴퓨터 시스템을 위한 WUSB over WBAN 프로토콜의 에너지 효율적인 시간 동기 기술)

  • In this Paper, we propose an Energy Efficient Time Synchronization technique based on WUSB (Wireless USB) over WBAN (Wireless Body Area Networks) protocol required for Wearable Computer systems. For this purpose, the proposed Time Synchronization algorithm minimizes power consumption and estimates time information with accuracy. It is executed on the basis of WUSB over WBAN protocol at each sensor node comprising peripherals of a wearable computer system. It minimizes power consumption by exchanging time stamp packets and forming a hierarchical structure.

  • In order to monitor in large area of a ship without any concerns of spacial environments, there can be the use of many sensors that support wireless network technologies. Through the deployment of the wireless sensors and their autonomous network formations, the status of a ship can be easily monitored in real time. Moreover, if all the sensors are timely synchronized with each other, the locations and the moving directions of certain events can be estimated. Thus, the time synchronization amongst wireless sensors are crucial. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which supports reduced message transmissions between the sensors for synchronization.

  • WBSN (Wireless Body Sensor Network), also called WBAN (Wireless Body Area Networks) generally, is a kind of WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) applications, which is composed of the various sensor nodes residing in human body embodied or in wearable way. The measured data at each sensor node in WBSN requires being synchronized at sink node for exact analysis for status of human body, which is like WSN. Although many time synchronization protocols for WSN has been already developed, they are not appropriate to WBSN. In this paper, a new time synchronization protocol for WBSN considering the characteristics of WBSN is proposed. The proposed scheme is not only simple, but also consumes less power, leading to increasing network life time. We will show that the proposed scheme is appropriate to WBSN by evaluating its performance by simulation.

  • 본 논문은 TPSN 알고리즘의 시각 동기화 오차를 개선하기 위하여 Imote2 센서 노드의 클럭 드리프트 특성을 적용하는 개선된 TPSN 알고리즘을 제안한다. 클럭 드리프트의 원인은 주로 수정발진기에 기인한다. 본 연구에서는 온도 및 습도 등 환경 조건이 비슷할 경우에 드리프트가 크게 차이나지 않는다는 실험 결과에 따라 드리프트의 평균값을 구하고 이를 TPSN 동기화 오차 보정에 사용한다. 이때 적용되는 드리프트 특성 값은 센서 노드 설치 이전에 미리 측정하여야 한다. 실험을 통하여 본 논문에서 제안한 개선된 TPSN 알고리즘이 동기화 오차 개선에 효과적임을 확인하였다.

  • TDOA(Time Difference Of Arrival)-based localization system such as the passive surveillance system performs the time synchronization between the receivers after separated installing multiple receivers to set the same clock for all receivers. And it estimates 2D(or 3D) location of the target by solving intersection of the multiple hyperbola(or hyperboloid) using TDOA. To perform time synchronization, one receiver must be set to the master, and it provide the reference data to compensate the clock of the rest of the slaves. The positioning accuracy of TDOA-based localization system is changed in accordance with the master that is selected among multiple receivers. So, the optimum receiver which is selected among multiple receivers must be set to master to get best performance in the considered deployment of receivers. In this paper, we propose a selection scheme of master receiver for time synchronization using DOP(Dilution Of Precision) which is based on location of the target and the multiple receivers. The proposed scheme has low complexity and short processing time, and it is easy to automate in the TDOA-based localization systems.

  • The visual motivation between AP devices is NTP-based visual motivation through the access of the Internet through the internal wired LAN, but this has several seconds of visual difference in hundreds of milliseconds (msec) depending on the network. The frame for the output of the video will vary depending on the application, but usually 24 (image) frames are output to the screen in one second. Therefore, the visual synchronization between peripheral devices can be performed through the adjacent moving camera device, not the wired method. The programming method of generating API for synchronization command when creating an application for visual synchronization and delivering it to AP through MAC may differ from the time in synchronization command according to the environment of the operating system at the transmission side and the situation of the buffer queue of the MAC. Therefore, as a method to solve this problem, the renewal of visual information in the device driver terminal controlling MAC can be much more effective.

  • Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers are intrinsically vulnerable to radio frequency jamming signals due to the fundamental property of radio navigation systems. A GNSS jamming monitoring system that is capable of jamming detection, classification and localization is essential for infrastructure for autonomous driving systems. For these 3 functionalities, a GNSS jamming monitoring network consisting of a multiple of low-cost GNSS receivers distributed in a certain area is needed, and the precise time synchronizaion between multiple independent GNSS receivers in the network is an essential element. This paper presents a precise time synchronization method based on the direct use of Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) technique in signal domain. A block interpolation method is additionally incorporated into the method in order to maintain the precision of time synchronization even with the relatively low sampling rate of the received signals for computational efficiency. The feasibility of the proposed approach is verified in the numerical simualtions.

  • This paper proposes precise time synchronization-based synchronized sampling structure applied HW/SW platform for LAN-based protection of future digital substations. The integrated software of the proposed platform includes IEC 61850 protocol, IEEE 1588 precision time protocol and synchronized sampling structure. The proposed platform expected to provide a basis of an application of future distributed sensing data-based protection and control methods by providing synchronized measurement among IEDs. The implementation of the proposed HW/SW platform technique was performed using TMDXIDK572 multi-core/multi-processor evaluation module and its time synchronization performance and synchronized sampling function were confirmed through the performance tests.

  • It has been very difficult and inefficient to implement data synchronization in the multimedia information systems until now, because most data synchronizations have been implemented by ad hoc methodologies. In this paper, we propose a new synchroniation methodology implemented by scheduling using monitor. If users definece the temporal relationships of media data using high level user interface, then the monitor selects media data started at that time and controls setup time and precessing time. The scheduler determines the scheduling method or selected media data and adjusts the synchronization among them.
