The introduction of Engine Performance Test for Miniature Turbojet Engine considering humidity effects (습도 영향을 고려한 초소형 터보제트 엔진 성능시험 소개)

  • The moisture in the atmosphere exerts a lot of influence upon Gas turbine engine performances. There is a noticeable influence of wet air at the summer sea level, high flight mach number and low engine rpm increasingly. An altitude Engine Test Facility is used to accomplish the engine performance tests at dry air condition and wet air condition, through which engine performance results is revealed. In the result, net thrust and specific fuel consumption measured -2.826% and 1.325%, respectively at wet air condition compared to dry air condition.

  • In this paper, we present design and prototyping of a low-cost, integrated multi-functional micro health sensor chip that can be used or embedded in widely consumer devices, such as cell phone and PDA, for monitoring environmental condition including air pressure, temperature and humidity. This research's scope includes basic individual sensor study, architecture for integrating sensors on a chip, fabrication process compatibility and test/evaluation of prototype sensors. The results show that the integrated TPH sensor has good characteristics of ${\pm}\;1\%FS$ of linearity and hysteresis for pressure sensor and temperature sensor and of ${\pm}\;5\%FS$ of linearity and hysteresis But if we use 3rd order approximation for humidity sensor, full scale error becomes much smaller and this will be one of our future study.

  • 현재까지 연료전지 전해질 막으로는 Nafion으로 잘 알려져 있는 perfluorosulfonic acid(PFSA)막이 주를 이루고 있다. 이 막들은 $80^{\circ}C$ 이하의 낮은 온도의 연료전지에서 가장 좋은 성능을 보인다. PFSA 막들은 탄소-불소로 이루어진 사슬의 특성상 산화, 환원의 조건에서도 뛰어난 안정성을 보이며 이온 전도도가 0.1S/cm 이상으로 기존에 알려진 전해질 막들 중 가장 우수한 성능을 나타낸다. 하지만 연료전지의 작동온도가 $100^{\circ}C$ 이상의 높은 온도에서 는 막에 존재하던 수분이 제거되면서 수소이온 전도도가 떨어지며 기계적 물성도 떨어지는 문제점을나타낸다. $100^{\circ}C$ 이상의 온도에서 연료전지를 작동시키면 양쪽의 전극에서 일어나는 촉매반응의 속도가 향상되며, 물의 끓는점 이상에서 작동되므로, 전지 내에서 다양한 상을 고려하지 않고 기화된 물만을 고려하여 설계를 할 수가 있다. 따라서 최근 이러한 고온/저가습 운전을 위 한 전해질 막의 개발을 위해 기존의 Nafion 막에 전도성 무기 입자를 도입하는 연구들이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 전도성 무기 입자로서 $ZrO_2$나노입자를 합성하고, 이를 상용 10 wt.% Nafion 용액에 분산하여 solution casting 방법을 통해 $61{\mu}m$ 두께의 유기-무기 복합막을 제조하였다. 제조한 유기-무기 복합막의 성능 평가를 위하여 함수율, 이온 전도도, 당량무게 및 단위 전지를 이용한 전류-전압 곡선을 측정하여 상용 Nafion 112 막과 비교해 보았다. $ZrO_2$ 입자는 전도성이며 동시에 친수성을 나타내기 때문에 상용 막에 비하여 함수율 및 수소이온 전도도가 우수하게 나타났다. 복합막의 이러한 물성은 $100^{\circ}C$이상의 고온에서 전해질 막 내의 물 관리를 용이하게 한다. 단위 전지 운전 온도 $130^{\circ}C$, 상대습도 37%의 운전 조건에서도 상당히 우수한 전지 성능을 보임에 따라 고온/저가습 조건에서 상용 Nafion 112 막보다 우수한 막 특성을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

Hygrothermal Effect on the Strength of Carbon/Epoxy Composite Single-Lap Bonded Joints (고온습도 및 저온 환경이 복합재 접착 체결부 강도에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • The hygrothermal effect on the strength of composite single-lap bonded joints were investigated. The specimens were manufactured in four different manufacturing methods and tested in three different environmental conditions. An interesting result is that the strengths of the joints in the elevated temperature and wet (ETW) conditions were found to be 11 ~ 23% higher than those in the room temperature and dry (RTD) environment. In contrast, the strengths of the joints in the cold temperature and dry (CTD) condition decrease by 8 ~ 21% compared to those in the RTD environment except for cobonded joint. The difference in the strength by testing environments is mainly attributed to the change of the material properties of adhesive by temperature and moisture.

A Study on the Change of Humidity by City Size in South Korea (한국의 도시 규모별 습도 변화에 관한 연구)

  • This study aimed to investigate the change of humidity by city size in South Korea. Using daily mean relative humidity and water vapor pressure during the period of 1954~2011 for 14 weather stations in South Korea, the change of humidity by city size was analyzed. The change of relative humidity had a continuous decreasing trend for the period of 1954~2011. The decreasing trend in large city was bigger than these of rural one. The seasonal relative humidity was significantly changed in spring and winter. The change of water vapor pressure was rarely changed significance of the results by city size. It was not shown the result to constant trend by city size. There was a negative correlation between relative humidity and mean temperature. And change of relative humidity was correlated with city size. Moreover, there was not correlation between relative humidity and water vapor pressure by city size. The decreasing trend of relative humidity was similar to increasing trend of temperature by urbanization. However, there was not shown significant result of water vapor pressure.

  • An enthalpy exchanger in which heat and moisture transfer occur between the indoor and outdoor air operates at various outdoor conditions. In this study, the effect of the outdoor-air temperature and humidity on the performance of an enthalpy exchanger was experimentally investigated. An apparatus was specially-made to accurately measure the incoming and outgoing dry- and wet-bulb air temperatures as well as the flow rates. Tests were conducted in constant-temperature and constant-humidity chambers at different outdoor temperatures and humidities. It is shown that the effectiveness of latent-heat exchange increases as the relative humidity increases; further, this effect exhibited minimal dependence on the absolute humidity. However, the effectiveness of sensible-heat exchange is independent of both temperature and humidity

  • A systematic humidity correction technique that can be used for any type of engine control mode is developed to predict the variation of engine performance due to inlet humidity. Limitation of conventional method is rot identified and then, a new method is proposed to take into account the humidity effects on each engine component characteristics and to find the variation of equilibrium running point through a re-match process between the components with a given engine control variable depending on the humidity of inlet. Comparisons are made between two methods for a single spool gas turbine engine, and it was found that the conventional method leads to invalid correction when a physical variable such as rotational speed is controlled for engine operation in humid environment. It was also found that the accuracy of the conventional method depends on the engine control mode and the engine configuration whereas the proposed method can be used for any type of engine control mode and engine configuration.

  • Donald K. Sebera model can quantitatively compare the preserving environment by calculating the preserving valuation index with changing only the temperature and humidity. In this study, Donald K. Sebera model was used in order to compare and evaluate the preserving valuation index on the best condition and the worst condition in the temperature and humidity range of public records management act. As the results, the preserving valuation index in the best conditions was larger 2.47 times than the worst conditions within the preserving environment permitted in public records management act. Also, the influence of the humidity on the preserving valuation index of a paper archives as decreasing the activation energy for the hydrolysis reaction was larger rather than temperature. Thus the preserving valuation index can easily evaluate the suitability of the temperature and humidity conditions for preserving a archives. Therefore it can be used as useful tool for preservation of archives on change of the temperature and humidity.

Evaluation of waterlogging tolerance using chlorophyll fluorescence reaction in the seedlings of Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) accessions (엽록소 형광반응을 이용한 인삼 유전자원의 습해 스트레스 평가)

  • Measuring chlorophyll fluorescence (CF) is a useful tool for assessing a plant's ability to tolerate abiotic stresses such as drought, waterlogging and high temperature. Korean ginseng is highly sensitive to water stress in paddy fields. To evaluate the possibility of non-destructively diagnosing waterlogging stress using chlorophyll fluorescence (CF) imaging techniques, we screened 57 ginseng accessions for waterlogging tolerance. To evaluate waterlogging tolerance among the 2-year-old Korean ginseng accessions, we treated ginseng plants with water stress for 25 days. The physiological disorder rate was characterized through visual assessment (an assigned score of 0-5). The physiological disorder rates of Geumjin, Geumsun and GS00-58 were lower than that of other accessions. In contrast, lines GS97-62, GS97-69 and GS98-1-5 were deemed susceptible. Root traits, chlorophyll content and the reduction rates decreased in most ginseng accessions. Further, these metrics were significantly lower in susceptible genotypes compared to resistant ones. All CF parameters showed a positive or negative response to waterlogging stress, and this response continuously increased over the treatment time among the genotypes. The CF parameter Fv/Fm was used to screen the 57 accessions, and the results showed clear differences in Fv/Fm between the susceptible and resistant genotypes. Susceptible genotypes had an especially low Fv/Fm value of less than 0.8, reflecting damage to the reaction center of photosystem II. It is concluded that Fv/Fm can be used as a CF parameter index for screening waterlogging stress tolerance in ginseng genotypes.

  • As an improvement in the standard of living and economic growth the demand for air conditioning equipment is increasing rapidly. Nowadays air conditioning equipments are being used for industry large building house and car. Thess equipments was concentrated on improving heat efficiency of economic aspects while they design heat exchanger for cooling and heating,. These air conditioning equipments using heat exchanger cause a discomfort to user due to generating mist at the beginning of operating. Therefore the user demand air of high class and quality. In this experimental study to acquire elementary data for development of heat exchanger which be able to supply air of high quality that is to say possess a restraint effect of mist generation. We estimate an effect on cooling plate kind supply air velocity supply air temperature cooled plate temperature and supply air relative humidity which have an influence on outlet air condition of heat exchanger.
